Rhapsody in Mauve

I did not think I would fall in love with this as hard as I did, I originally bought a 15 ml bottle but definitely think I need to upgrade. It is smoking clove cigs and rubbing ash on your lovers cheeks, it is hot breath on the back of your neck, it is goth grandma and she hands you a lozenge to make everything feel okay. I have been wearing this on cold spring mornings and for a cozy jammy floral feel, my partner at the end of day when they come home can still catch whiffs. Think this will become a staple for fall/winter. Avoid if you don't aren't chill with patchouli.

smells a bit of potpourri, very 90's nostalgic, but ultimately a comforting and feminine rose scent on me. I love smelling this lingering on the necks of my sweaters -- my favorite fall / winter scent. A friend tried this and said it veered vanilla on her, but on me the clove and rose shine through. I was nervous it would be too grandma-leaning to be a crowd-pleaser, but I've gotten tons of compliments!

Back in the day, I used to smoke clove cigarettes that I kept in an adorable coffin-shaped metal case. This fragrance reminds me of the smell of the inside of my purse back then-- cloves, rose-scented lotion, black (or purple) nail polish, white face powder... Nostalgic and unique. Casual with an edge. I dig it. Performance is moderate. Another win from Universal Flowering.

Deep jammy rose, wintery wood, smoke and spice. The inside of the wardrobe to Narnia. Signature scent of the White Witch. Fur coats and Turkish delight. Editing to say: I just saw on the UF site that this is discotinued and sold out - tragic!

A boudoir babydoll chain smoking clove cigarettes while wearing rose scented gloss. Hazy, dreamy, and a tad dramatic. Ideal scent for gazing at my ceiling and listening to dream pop. Devastated that this has been discontinued.

an earthy rose that smells like a flat rose cola. taking a stroll through a mall, flipping through a dELiA*s catalog, messily applying baby pink nail polish. romantic, dreamy, alluring. truly a beautiful scent.

The trail of an Upper East Side witch. Brown sugar, velvet roses, crystals shop patchouli, smoking cloves in the back of an old limousine. A big city amber, of smoke and glamour, like Byredo’s 1996. But while 1996 is the indie sleaze daughter, Rhapsody in Mauve is the whimsigoth mom. If that makes any sense. I also get the same treacly toffee amber I loved from DvN’s Rock the Myrrh. The problem with my olfactory synesthesia is this does not smell mauve in the slightest. I’m getting burnished gold and royal purple. It’s a very perfume-y perfume. If that also makes any sense. It doesn’t smell like “me,” but it smells good. Like a hug from a celebrity. Mental Snapshot: Something you’d catch on the most beautiful, most mysterious mom at PTA night. Her voice is sweet and husky. (Who’s mom is she??). You catch her sharing a cigarette with her chauffeur. She’s wearing a leather trench, spike-heeled boots, and a lot of jewelry. (Or is she the headmistress??). Some of it looks Chanel, some of it looks archaeological. Like it might hold a pharaoh’s curse. (Or is she a sorceress??). tl;dr: Baba Yaga Wears Prada 🔮🌆

i got this perfume in the discovery set. it's the first time I smelled something and immediately thought of a different perfume - this smells to me extremely similar to Mugler's Angel! and I checked the notes, they are similar there too - both have rose, amber, and patchouli. i like the smell a lot but it was a limited collection, and for the price point I think you can find Mugler's Angel for less on holidays or discount perfume shops.

- Cypriol and Patchouli make a clear entrance in the opening in green herbal fashion - Turkish delight if it were a perfume - Clove and amber keep this scent cozy although it would’ve thrive in warm weather. - I enjoyed this scent more than heliotrope milk bath. - Smells like a sweet hair gel and slightly medicinal. - Rose jam note shines into the dry down. - Sweet but not childish or high school by any means. - Something Alice from twilight would wear.

An indie take on POAL. Syrupy, earthy, dank, spicy. This is one cool chick. Glad to have grabbed a bottle before it was axed. the Patch is chewy dark chocolate, the Rose is jammy, spreadable, edible. The Clove is spicy and smoky and sweet. Overall this is very dark fem coded. I know its called Rhapsody in Mauve but this to me is burgandy velvet cushions in a crystal shop.

cola in a glass cup with crushed ice and a straw. it's 1998 and you're in a bustling department store when it's cold out and the mall is decorated. a bit dusty and a bit sweet (that's the rose jam). I'm not exactly getting the patchouli blast I've seen mentioned but I definitely get a full dose of the clove. this is a beautiful fragrance, I love it for the holidays

I think I’m coming to terms with the fact that these are notes that just don’t work for me. More vintage-y things like patchouli just make me feel like a 12 year old who discovered essential oils for the first time and went a little overboard. But for patchouli it’s interesting and nice! Just not for me

much heavier rose than i would wear in everyday life but i did wear it to work and a client said he was drunk off the scent of my estrogen.. whatever that means. reminds me of a grown up more complex & spicier version of rose jam from lush

Oh goodness this is delightful. New signature scent?! I will be back with a formal review.
