Singular Oud

#1559 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this as a decant from ScentSplit. Can't stop smelling this one. This would be a very standard westernized oud scent, of which I have dozens, except most perfumers seemed compelled to add citrus, rose and lavender notes which would detract from this scent's appeal for me. Some of us really like going that "Dark Side." This is car pool, elevator, office safe, but definitely a date night scent. The projection is moderate but the skin scent hangs on just past the lunch hour for me, so about six hours. I expect it will cling to clothing longer. Not finding any domestic US or Canadian sources for this (one German vendor has it at $175) and that's a bummer. If you know of a US source please ping me as I really enjoy this scent. A medical 'oud'. Singular Oud mimics oud, focusing on its medical bitterness and slight sourness. It is dry and with no animalics. Leverage the medical vibe, it transmits well between this medical oud and the slightly salty saffron. There is also some benzoin texture here (but I do not identify fig.) Different from the other two reviewers (who I often refer to), I suppose this approach mimicking oud is not that uncommon among the niches. Ateiler Cologne is the words that come to my mind, though I cannot recall a specific work. I am also reminded of Fortis, though the latter is intenser and more complicated. Good lasting and projection. Very wearable. Tested indoors based on the sample from my discovery set.

Singular oud is an interesting and quite different Oud fragrance. It follows the line of other perfumes such as Bois d'oud by Perris Montecarlo or Oud & bergamot by Jo Malone London, but following its own path. It coincides with these in that the oud is the protagonist throughout the development but in a friendly way, in its most woody facet, without large fecal or excessively animalistic doses, building a fragrance that, despite its intense and smoky character, can be come to regard as fresh in some parts of the process. It is an oud for those who do not particularly like the oud. The opening has a fruity character marked by the fig, although quite light since the smoothness and creaminess of the fig is quite hidden under the strength of the oud and incense. Incense is the main actor among the secondary ones, giving the fragrance a smoky and balsamic character. On the dry down, musky notes and a light patchouli finish making up the mix. Personally, I liked it, it has an acceptable performance, although perhaps a little low for what is expected of a perfume that has the word oud in its name; and a duration of approximately 8 hours on the skin. From the most subjective side I liked it although not enough to throw rockets. Perhaps I would have liked it more if the presence of the fig had risen a little or had it highlighted with some note that would help increase the fruitier part. Jammy fig woods. Not a single oud in here, it's just an amusing woody figs with sweetness and balanced doses of saffron. It has a darkened theme of figgy woods. It has patchouli and generous amount of creamy incense. This is superbly amusing, although i don't like figs but in here figs are presented as a creamy jammy woody. Very good.
