I never imagined that so many emotions and feeling could exist in the same time. I heard about it before I smelled it for the first time, and I imagined the fragrance. I was wrong. I didn’t expect this at all. It completely took me off guard and suddenly a core memory was unlocked. It is something so intimate and nostalgic. Familiar, but covered with a layer of mystery. Strong, but and gentle in the same time. Like you want to run away from all your daily problems, so you run in the forest. It just stopped raining. It’ s quite. Just you and the nature. The forest offers you a hideout from chaos.

Black Valley is definitely a work of art. It reminds me of my peaceful childhood, the long walks I deeply enjoyed, in the forest, after an afternoon rain. It smells mossy, earthy, mushroomy, so accurate - you can feel the forest around you when you wear it. Also, in drydown, you can smell a pear orchard, very soft and nostalgic. Amazing scent, I am so glad I own it!

a story in a bottle 🖤 natural, gentle, enveloping and transcendent.

It starts sharp with vetyver, dry leaves and something resembling asphalt, then turns a bit dry and dusty and further on it evolves into a creamier atmosphere with just a hint of sweetness from a distant powdery floral note, while herbaceous is the main actor in this scenery. Straight away it reminded me a bit of a stale vintage Dahlia by Fragonard I have in my collection, a fragrance that went bad before I acquired it. A subtle floral scent with faint fruity undertones (let's say berries), overpowered by lovage and the spiciness of what resembles carrot leaves and tar. So it smells like something green that has started its way back into soil, decaying leaves on top of moss over some dry roots. It is not a petrichor kind of scent and definitely no forest, if you are hoping for it. I also don't detect any mushrooms, so I might be anosmic to some notes here (although I do work with Cepes Absolute myself, so I'm not sure about that), but I definitely sense some spicy greenery and a bit of poppy in the background – if that was aimed for, than kudos to the creator for the fantasy accord. A friend of mine said that to them after a while it smelled like sweat. I can see what they mean, it's that type of acid sweat that sometimes resembles dill. Anyhow, the scent is weird enough to be borderline unwearable (there is nothing animalic in it to make it at least desirable, just some slightly bitter musty slow-rotting herbs). On the plus side, it's very long lasting and in drydown you get a vague floral scent, quite poetic. No denying it's an interesting creation, I'm just not sure in terms of wearability – unless you want to smell like an overworked grandma who just finished cutting the pot-herbs in order to make some soup in a cold, dusty and damp old celar. That's as vivid as it can get, this whiff of bland vegetable death. But there's beauty in the decay, nonetheless.
