Alibi

Green, wet, earthy, resinous vetiver rounded off on a smoky cashmere leathery base. It shares similarities to the original Encre Noir, but Alibi is more natural smelling, more complex, and smoother -- no rough edges, no bergamot bitterness. Like Encre Noire, this is not an everyday scent, but definitely one to pull out on a cold, and rainy grey day.

I am a fan of woody and leathery fragrances, I think it's a great combination. This fragrance is even more than great, it's perfect, it's a bottle you'll always want to have on your shelf. It's such a natural, soft and balanced fragrance that is more manly.

I guess it can be hard to hide vetiver in a fragrance. Same here - it’s the first thing I notice about Alibi. Initially, it’s paired with salt. I don’t get much citrus or cypress wood out of this. As the salt fades, the vetiver still continues with what I am probably perceiving as cedar and something a tad sweet. Slowly, throughout wearing this, the vetiver dies down for the most part and there’s an interesting pairing of a rugged but sweet base with the leather, cashmere wood and benzoin. I found the projection to be noticeable but not relentless. Out of the several wears of this sample, this lasted for several hours on me. I’ll eventually pick up a bottle sometime in the future. I don’t really see this as unisex - this seems plainly masculine to me.

I’m glad I took only a decant of this frag. It’s an art, but way too feminine on my choice. Resembles wet ground with tons of leaves on it, with great vetiver notes. It’s a garden after the rain! Patchouli isn’t very smooth here, just pure and natural. And I like salty notes which add interesting shades to cedar ones. All in all, I really like this frag, but again - it’s too feminine and light for me personally.

Not a novelty but good. In this I distinguish the bacon at the opening, the peat with a whiskey effect, elemi, leather, sour vetiver and cypress in abundance. I also have the same caschmere wood that I find in Mastin. Overall pleasant,elegant,with so many notes, a simple idea and long longevity. Unisex ??? for me this screams man but I could imagine a woman in black, with tie, hat and cigar in hand ... why not?

This is a really great scent. It starts off with a sharp, citrus aromatic and quickly turns to a velvety, sweet almost chocolate accord. But even in the sweetness, there is still something salty. Overall, well rounded and easily enjoyable.

Opens with a unsweetened hazelnut note, and will close with a combo of salty/earthy vetiver and a tonload of cashmeran. No leather, patchouli or resins to my nose. Very round, no rough edges. Doesn;t really know what it wants to be. I expected more from Terenzi, and it's clear that he doesn't know how to glorify that note, and poor performance on my skin doesn't help liking it. Comparisons with Encre Noire are quite remote, and on my skin, EN has stronger performance. Dull to my nose, but might please who is not a fan of vetiver.

Almost indistinguishable from encre noire, its a little bit salty and bitter compared to en. noire

Stunning fragrance with few accords yet amazing performance and scent. The accords in it are woody, earthy and aromatic. Paolo Terenzi has beautifully formulated this fragrance wehere the opening is made up of salt, cypress, mandarin orange and bergamot while the heart consists of peat, cedar, vetiver and elemi. Dry down phase is even more beautiful with the cashmere wood, leather, musk, benzoin and patchouli. About the performance, this one imparts the eternal longevity as I could smell this on me even the next day and the silage is strong too. I found this one a bit inclined towards masculine side and found it a great value for money being such a superb scent at such pocket friendly price. This is a wet, green, resinous and earthy vetiver on a smoky cashmere leathery base that smells amazingly natural, smoother and more complex. This reminds me of Encre Noir and fumidus profumum roma. Love it!

It's a YES for me! I absolutely enjoy this fragrance! It's the bibliosmia that reminds me of childhood library experiences, and the scent of my PopPop's worn sweater vest - all wrapped in a blanket, that comforts me at once!! I smell the earthy/mineral-esque peat, light wood, a little leather...and I love it. This puts me in the memory bank of: gasoline, freshly turned dirt, natural furnace gas, freshly printed on paper, slightly musty (but not moldy or funky) old books; all of which, I enjoy the smell of. Only a particular nose will benefit from wearing this! It's out the box, it's not completely earth shattering, but it is unique!! I don't think this is mass appealing, I don't think you will smell like anyone else, nor do I think you're going to get many compliments on this. Alibi is something you have to wear for you.

First impressions. I don't think it's that similar to Encre Noire. There is some overlap due to the vetiver in the centre stage, but I could tell them apart without a doubt. Encre Noire is much more focused and clean, also a bit artificial or synthetic smelling, a kind of urban goth fragrance. Alibi is much more natural smelling, more "aristocratic", also quite animalic. I get this horsey leather note and some "barnyard" notes -- there is a kind of pissy animalic musk to go with the earthiness and mineral notes. And in the drydown, there appears an oriental resinous accord. From another angle, it seems to be a more crowdpleasing version of Afrika Olifant. Overall, it is very well balanced and quite wearable, but to my surprise (based on this kind of profile), the performance is weak.

Beautiful scent!!! Unfortunatelly it has terrible performance. No way this is extrait de parfum. It has worse longevity and sillage than EN. I put 15 sprays on me and after 10 minutes, my girlfriend does not smell it. She has to touch my neck with her nose to detect it. And its not just her, nobody can smell it on me. Not from skin, not from clothes. Such a pity... If it wasnt for this, I would have this as my signature scent. Why are they making them so weak? This is not elegantly silent, this is simply not worth the money weak. Extrait de perfume label is a joke.

Aromatic, earthy and woody masterpiece.Few accords blended to perfection is what Alibi all about. Opening notes contains citrusy mandarian orange with the salt, cypress and bergamot that settles to vetiver (most prominent in this scent), peat, cedar and elemi. dry down is decent leathery, woody, benzoin, patchouli and musk. eternal longevity and enormous silage makes it even more worthy. the price is perfectly ok value. all in all, this is must pick one elegnat and classy scent.

Being a lover of Vetiver-themed fragrances, Alibi is moulded into, but with a radicalized approach to Vetiver. This is totally different from the ones in the market. Alibi will definitely alter your olfactory experience on Vetiver-driven fragrances if you're truly a connoisseur of this fragrance note. A very salty incense-y like scent. I liked it and would like to layer it with a rose scent. Lasted about 4 to 5 hours with a very soft leathery musk dry down. I did not mind the performance as it is a scent I did not want to act in a beastly manner. It is going to a small steepled church on a cliff overlooking the wind whipped sea. Brooding, silent, commanding.

Are you serious with the notes shown here??? i think i's mixed up with "Mastin" cause This is OUD saffron rose combination with a slight chocolate to sweeten the juice in a dark way. Woody base with darkened sweetish effect.. and that saffron adds the sharp tingling feeling with the help of the roses. So far, this one is my best in this line.

Ressemble à Amouage Figment. Très bon. Excellente longévité
