Cor Gentile

Cor Gentile is a beautiful fragrance, but not at all what I had expected after seeing the notes of myrrh and leather backed by sandalwood, vanilla and patchouli. I was expecting to go head-to-head with a gunslinger, but a sexy gals wearing cowboy boots met me at the door. And I liked it!!! As mentioned below, this is a softer, fresh/powdery, semi-sweet floral fragrance that is perfectly suited for les femmes. Moreover, although I feel it is a highly versatile fragrances, it's better suited for Spring/Fall business or evening casual wear. To me, this scent says "I've made it...I'm confident...I'm sexy...and I know it!" But it also makes that statement while drawing people in with a friendly smile and not being intimidating in any way. Performance is average in that it lasted 6-hours and projected moderately on my skin. Overall, this is one of the two or three in the V Canto that I really love and plan to buy as gifts for my girlfriend, mom or daughters.

Every time I spray this beautiful scent on, a feeling of quiet happiness descends over me. Cor gentile, or gentle heart, what an aptly named creation! I blind bought this after reading the enchanting review written below by my friend, I was really drawn in both by the name and by the picture of satin mauve elegance she conjured. The spicy carnation reminds me of first days of school with flowers passed to beloved teachers, and the myrrh brings back memories of calm and holy places. There's a soft vanilla that brings milky sweetness, and the juniper takes me to an evergreen forest in the winter - the coolness of it must be the source of the tic-tac candy feel @brumbarche so beautifully describes. Together, all these parts create a scent that feels dreamy and feminine, but also mysterious - suitable for a nostalgic, gentle soul.

Received this beauty today in a swap with a fellow Fragrantican (Thank you so much!). Applied it to my wrist and immediately thought - Maremma! I can’t confirm it with a 100% certainty since I have most of my perfumes packed in the boxes (for few more month until we move), but first impression is - definitely Maremma. Not surprised at all since both are Paolo Terenzi’s creations. I’m sure they are not exactly identical, but very similar. Unique, high quality, elegant. Love it!

Pleasantly surprised as I first expected another heavy, bold rose/patchouli combi that all designers seem to bring out nowadays. But this is a fresh/powdery, very sweet feminine variation. I cannot really picture it on a man. A rather nostalgic scent as well, but cannot recall what 80ties/90ties perfume it reminds me of. Anyone?

Beautiful classy fragrance! Soft, powdery, slightly sweet & a little spice, dash of myrrh on a bed of florals & carnations. I'm not picking up on the leather yet, it may be way in the background. There's a soft milky vanilla that is extremely pleasurable. Not a super loud perfume. It performs and sits just right..

Cor Gentile ("Kind" or "Gentle" Heart) is exactly that. Admittedly, the first spray is a tad like a hairspray but that shifts almost immediately to a warm and comforting floral, enveloped in myrrh. I've worn it to bed, too and it's like using a weighted blanket.

This is a very feminine, soft, powdery and slightly sweet scent. I have been testing this one out from a sample and I kept on sniffing my arm the whole day, wondering what it reminds me of. I finally figured out that to me it smells like Montale Intense Tiare or Mancera Coco Vanille but 10 times softer and without the extremely headache inducing white florals in those. It also has reminiscence of D&G Dolce Garden but it's not as strong, sweet and synthetic. I can't wear those fragrances because they give me a headache (and I am not one that doesn't handle strong fragrances) but this one is just perfect. If I had to explain it in a simple way it smells like a body lotion that maybe my mom used that has some delicate florals, maybe a little bit of coconut and vanilla and a hint of rose petals. The camellia note is a fantasy note and I feel like Paolo Terenzi interpreted it so beautifully. Yes, it does have a mature vibe to it but not that much and I think it can be worn by anyone who wants to smell very feminine but not overpowering. For an extrait de parfum the performance and sillage aren't as good as other V Canto scents but it could be for the better because I feel like it's what makes this fragrance pleasant and not too heady like the ones I mentioned previously. Overall, I am very surprised with what this scent has turned out to be and I might be getting a bottle of it (the only thing that's stopping me right now is the bad performance considering the price). As a 20-year-old and someone who likes many mass-appealing scents this is still something that would fit in my perfume collection and get a lot of use. Out of all V Canto fragrances I've tried, Cor Gentile, Magnificat and Stricnina are my favourites.

It's quite pretty. Starts off sharp but softens. Nothing too unique. VERY floral. Great longevity.

Very feminine scent for formal occasions. I see it being worn by a woman 45+. Nice, but not really my cup of tea since I don't have formal occasions to wear it to.

I’ve always had difficult relationship with TF Velvet Orchid. Too mature, too smoky, too dark, too honeyed and the myrrh was the choking kind. Also, there was never suitable occasion to wear it. So, I was admiring the composition and its genre from a distance. It felt like a night time scent for a mature lady with class and presence. I hoped and hoped for its flanker to be less in your face, more wearable, understated beauty, expressing similar vibes to a more versatile audience, but although it was an improvement from the prototype, still missed the mark for me. Cor Gentile is everything I hoped a daytime well blended lite creamy flanker would smell like. Something more like a romantic scent, which mother-of-the-bride satin mauve dress would evoke. Something sweet, lactonic, powdery, spicy, which will draw me in and will not offend anyone, despite the tricky selection of notes. Classy, but suitable to wear with a dress and with a cashmere sweater. Gentle enough on the senses to even sleep in it. Cor Gentile manages to deliver, but despite its slightly mature and soft profile, it feels contemporary and luxurious. It’s brings to mind the profile of Kenzo Flower, but more gentle and slightly spicy. It makes a subtle wink towards Initio’s Psychadelic Love or Valentino’s Myrrh Absolu, because of the myrrh. And JPG La Belle & Parfum are with a different pyramid and sweeter than Gor Gentile, but feel “same color” juice. In all these, however, you feel bold strokes, clear definition of notes, attention grabbing volume and sillage , etc.. They all rival in purple sweetness Guerlain Insolence. The softness in Cor Gentile is more in the direction of powdery rice, or rice milk, with vanilla and gentle dianthus (spicy purple floral). THAT soft, sweet and creamy. It’s delicious! Unlike TF Velvet Orchid, Cor Gentile, is finally ...a “daywalker” - enveloped in soft white musc (softer than Narciso Rodriguez’, and nothing screechy a la jovan or the body shop white musc). The sandal wood gives a nice creamy feeling to support the vanilla and to drown a bit the throat grabbing heavy aspects which myrrh can manifest and often bother me in compositions featuring the note. It’s given a veil of coolness by the juniper and a bit of warm femininity by the carnation (which I experience as a type of tiny gentle mauve pastel carnations/dianthus - the kind my grandma grew by the water fountain in our back yard). I can’t pick out the rose or camellia - but that mauve silky floral accord must be it. If the composition was pushing to the front more of the flowers shown in the pyramid it will be already too floral for my liking. The balance here is everything. But surely it’s not too difficult to hallucinate some distant voices of violets somewhere in there (if you aren’t familiar with the subtle smell of dianthus). I too sometimes thought of violets while drinking water near the dianthus - so I can understand how spicy violet accord can be imagined. I can’t say I can experience any leather clearly, or at all, but if there were any leather notes, they must be of soft white leather - to simply add more cohesion to the musky vanilla, and in order to avoid the too sugary or marshmallow crudeness we see nowadays in sweet perfumes. It’s more peppery than leathery. It’s all just so homogeneous and angelic. No harsh expressions of these notes. ————— In summary: This perfume is a very well blended beauty, true to its name. It is extremely subtle, but sweet, yet dense and slightly cool -like tic tac candy with fragrant mauve carnation; powdery and slightly creamy from musks and sandal wood, where the floral-spicy choice of tender carnation/dianthus is very intelligently chosen to be the star, touched by myrrh to create a beautiful bright pastel satin finish. So suitable for daywear and romantic or special occasions, enveloping you in silky sensual cloud, even at bedtime. I’d love to see how it chases in evening settings with Psychedelic Love, La Belle Parfum, Tom Ford Velvet Orchid and other dark bombs. Edit: I decided to add this piece of information after a discussion on the features of the perfume I participated in - and it’s how the audience of Guerlain L’instant Magic would appreciate Cor Gentile and vice versa. Also people like myself, who miss Narciso Rodrigues In Color may find new love in Cor Gentile. I hope this helps :)

Floral, powdery and more of feminine scent that is bombarded with lots and lots of vanilla. The warmth, spicioness, aroma, woodiness, leather, amber and rose are well blended accords found in this scent. Opening notes are berries, musk, black pepper and myrrh giving it the spiciness, middle notes are floral rose, camellia, lily and carnation. dry down is all vanilla with some leather, patchouli and sanadlwood. In terms of performance, the longevity is long latsing, silage is enormous. This is high quality, unique and elegnat perfume. I like it!

Beautiful feminin scent, powdery and soft. Very very close to D'Orsay L'intrigante, share almost all notes. Difference is that this has a bit better longavity, but i prefer the D'Orsay as it has been with me for a long time.
