Irae

Irae by V Canto, is truly a masterpiece. Interestingly, while carnation is the dominant note, it’s not listed in the official notes. As Terenzi himself explained, "we don't list it because most people associate it with the cemetery, being a flower that is offered at graves." The fragrance opens with a bold, spicy, and peppery kick. Shortly after, bitter cocoa powder, not to be mistaken for sweet chocolate, makes its presence known. This perfume isn't overly sweet; the potential sweetness from carnation and tonka is tempered by pepper, wormwood, and the bitter cocoa. There's also a subtle metallic undertone in the background, likely the "hot iron" note mentioned in the composition. As Irae dries down, woody amber notes start to emerge, adding a touch more sweetness and a warm depth to the fragrance. The scent transitions from cold and sharp at the beginning to warm and inviting towards the end, creating a beautifully balanced and elegant profile. It has a vintage yet timeless quality, striking a balance between unisex and masculine. Irae is long-lasting with moderate projection, making it a fragrance that stays close but is noticeable. This is a scent I wear purely for my own enjoyment, appreciating its complexity and the way it evolves on the skin. when i smelled it for the first time i said this is the one i want, it was the first time for me to know about this brand "Canto" it is a very comforting perfume to me, i find myself in it lying next to myself in some old nights when i was free from everything... the opening is very welcoming, hot, warm and spicy; notwithstanding, not imposing at all... it is a door that you open and never closes back... this is Irae for me and i love to wear immediately before i go to sleep, i trust it will accord me a pleasant night, albeit only with myself. wood is very clear and flushing in it in the first sprays, a little bit after it's spicy & vibrant, the awkward is that after 8 hours of wearing it, i smelled some black vanilla, albeit not mentioned above... may be i confused the sweetness of cacao with it but i don't know why my nose did not detect any cacao in the whole story! it is longevity is pretty perfect and the silage is out of words, it makes everyone know you are present. if you are a woman and you like manly smelling perfumes like it do, dare for it with too much confidence,,, Moreover, it is an Extrait of perfume, not only a perfume!

I bought of bottle of Irae without smelling (but with a tonne of extensive research) and I simply can't wait for the weather to cool enough to give this a full wearing. Irae is so incredibly gorgeous to my nose. The Sichuan pepper comes off very dominant to my nose at the start, and I was really hoping that would be the case. The Cocoa feels incredibly authentic & photorealistic, as long as you're expecting actual Cocoa, not chocolate (though I do get a touch of sweetness from the Bergamot but it feels short lived). There's also a nice, sharp mineralic note that I'm assuming is the Hot Iron (not similar but in the same vein as the Flint in TDH, at least to my tastes). Again, I've yet to wear this one yet as it was a late Spring purchase. But I did give a little spray into the cap about a month ago (give or take) as I was already wearing something, and it's still very robust when I take the cap off for a smell. This feels like it's super high quality & criminally under the radar juice (and you'll never hear me complain about the 2nd one).

immediatelly i test it something came in my mind. i had it before, but i knew that it was first time that i test it, so which of my perfume smell like this. i found it. D&G THE ONE GENTLEMAN. yes it's really like the one gentleman but little more beautiful smell. last long good but sillage maybe could be better than that. on the whole, i really enjoyed this one as i had really enjoyed the one gentleman 9/10 زمانی که این عطر را تست کردم سریعا یه چیزی توی ذهنم آمد. من این عطرو قبلا داشتم ولی من مطمین بودم تا اون موقع هیچگاه تو زندگیم این عطر رو ندیده بودم پس خیلی شبیه یکی از عطرهایی بوده که قبلا داشتم ولی کدوم یکی؟ بالاخره جوابم رو گرفتم. دی اند جی وان جنتلمن. این عطر بسیار خوشبو خیلی شبیه اون عطره ولی یه مقداری بوش به قولی باکلاس تر و ایتالیایی تر شده که خوب قیمتشم تقریبا سه برابر اون عطره ولی خلاصه من از این یکیم خیلی خوشم اومد.

Wow. I've had Mirabile for years now, I love it, it's that kind very mature, slightly soapy, elegant, deep vanilla scent and Irae, I definitely find little bit of that Mirabile's touch here too. It surprised and also convinced me; this is definitely not too masculine for my taste. And Irae also gives more. That mouth waterin combination of woody, peppery spices and bitter tears with citrus, a truly satisfying sensory pleasure for me. A bite of hot iron, yes, but I don't distinguish blood tones, the scent is balanced and very attractive, not harsh. If Irae embodies rage, it is very skillfully disguised. Like rolling your eyes at the wrong time. Really interesting and unique scent with refined sillage and admitted longevity. signature material in my opinion.

As usual, false inclusion of notes to create a controversy, and attracts users. In contrast, though, that falls right for hot iron here but that is just because it was mentioned, yeah some weird warm metal rust vibe is here but that is not a note, it's and effect of the huge dose of spices. Even though cacao is mention I can't pick any. A spice grenade or rather a pepper grenade, that has a lingering effect that decays as the time passes by and soon it's gone!! This fragrance requires a bold courageous person, who's really into spices and willing to re-apply every 3 hours! Courageous enough to wear it. Courageous enough not to be bored by how linear it is.

From the presentation to the dry down, this stuff is gold. I’d read the reviews a few months ago and popped this on my wish list. So when CosmeticsNow advertised a bottle for almost 40% off the RRP, I went in for the blind buy. Glad I did. This is a fantastic blend of citrus, amber and spice, all working in tandem to create an intoxicating vibe. I get a very faint touch of cola in the mix, but that could be my untrained nose. Longevity is past the 9 hour mark. Projection isn’t full on, but 4 sprays gives you a confident frag bubble with the odd compliment. Probably a fall/winter scent on my skin. Way, way above its price tag, IMO.

I am a big fan of Terenzi house ! So when i saw Canto irae i wanted to try it and omg what a great perfume! The openning has a lot of pepper and spices but it doesnt bother you at all and when it dries down its totally amazing! Warm cozy spicy sweet cause of tonka bean and cocoa but not cloying! Perfectly balanced! I love it on me but i love it on a woman also! The presentation is luxurious! great box and heavy velvety blue bottle! Canto just like tiziana terenzis perfumes are unique and have one of the best presentations on the market! I also love the story behind of every perfume of that house!! Great release totally worths it!!

it is incredible but true! i consider myself super lucky to know this perfume and to discover it. i came to know it by pure coincidence and since then, it is my favorite i cannot describe the charm and the beauty of this perfume, it is something incredible but true, really true. it is a super woody perfume with intensive notes of metal, earth, spices, nature,... i highly recommend it, this perfume has been made for me... thank you CANTO

Maybe one of the more unique fragrances I own. It's very chocolatey and metallic. It's slightly smoky, slightly bitter, and just delicious. I cannot recommend blind buying this. I don't think this is beginner friendly but if you like the notes listed in fragantica you would def like this. I dont get too much of the Bergamot or the rosewood. Their is good longevity but not great sillage IMO, I believe that common with Extrait de Parfum.

spicy, warm, citrus a little sweet. I smell hot iron, in a traditional knife or sword making place, when iron is heated in a fireplace until it turns red,very unique scent. not many people know and review about this perfume. nice masterpiece paolo terenzi 🔥

A cozy smooth amber fragrance. This is the one I wear on date nights with my husband, it's one of the more sensuous perfumes in my collection. Absolutely luscious!

Paolo Terenzi has personally stated in interviews that Irae contains carnation, even though it was deliberately omitted from the official note list. That small detail explains the entire structure of the fragrance. Most people focus on the cocoa, pepper, and the so-called “hot iron” accord, but few realize that the note truly holding everything together is the carnation that never appears in the official pyramid. From the first spray, what reaches the nose is a dry, bitter cocoa. Before long, the spicy facets begin to emerge. It is not just pepper at work. What keeps that spiciness alive throughout is the carnation. Unlike the rounded softness of rose or the richness of jasmine, carnation carries a clove-like spice, blurring the line between floralcy and spice until they become almost inseparable. As the fragrance warms on the skin, wormwood gradually comes forward, bringing a slightly medicinal bitterness. Meanwhile, the pepper continues to release a gentle, tingling heat that intertwines with the carnation. The boundaries between flower, spice, and herb become increasingly indistinct, and the fragrance slowly evolves from bitter cocoa into a dense cloud of dark spices. This is also when the so-called “hot iron” accord finally becomes apparent. It is not the smell of rust, but rather a warm, dry mineral impression that gives the heart of the fragrance a firmer, more rigid character. As it settles into the drydown, the spices gradually soften, giving way to a dry, dense woody accord with a faintly astringent edge. A fragrance with absolutely no sweetness. I love it.

A pleasant fragrance of velvet chocolate with cayenne pepper and bergamot! - def leads much more male. I picture a scentsational man dressed in a casual knit sweater, crisp worn-like peg leg jeans, and Ermenegildo Zegna white slip on sneakers smelling of Irae; no need to ask... he's a smooth operator, Coast to coast, LA to Chicago, western male, across the north and south, to Key Largo... very nice!

no wrath here, rather a viennese hot chocolate with an exquisitely tailored friend, pastry with fruit filling sharpened with a wood/resin backdrop. luscious. it pushes no artisanal boundaries but is stylishly assertive. to me, it is italian old school. inescapably sugary, a bit dandy.

First 10 wearings I hated it, wormwood bothered me too much but now i think im starting to like and understand this creation

All I get out of this is cardamom, and it's not even listed as a note. Definitely no Sichuan Pepper. To me this smells more like Indian curry, albeit a good one. :)

Super cozy, soothing and deep kind of fragrance that is unique in its own way. The notes in this one is so perfectly blended and keep emerging time to time giving it a beauty and amazing vibe throughout its life. Doubtless to mention, the longevity is eternal and silage is enormous for this amazing perfume. Opening notes in this one is boozy and addictive tonka bean, cacao pod and bergamot while heart is made up of hot iron, pepper, coriander and wormwood notes. The dry down is oak, amber and rosewood. There is balanced spiciness, booziness, comfort and aroma in it giving it strength and depth too. I think this is a kind of must have scent for all men out there and women who wants to look confident and bold and firm with their decision about anything. Warm, hot and spicy welcoming opening makes it outstanding followed by the clear, flushing wood that is vibrant and spicy in this one. This one is a true compliment getter and mark your presence at any place. Totally worth all the love and appreciation!

Well, I think I am really blessed to have the chance to know Tiziana Terenzi. As soon as you smell it, you can perceive the Italian essence of the fragrance. This aroma is at first a little harsh; but as it dries down it emits a really pleasant and unique note, which is totally lovely with a cool note in the background. There is no doubt about the longevity of the product. Talking about projection, it fills a room for about 3 hours. It lasts on my skin for about 12 hours and 24 hours on my clothes. Generally speaking, I love "IRAE" and it’s one my top ten in my collection. It absorbs all attentions. It’s really satisfying. Thank you Paolo Terenzi, the Attar. After 6 months After using some samples, I finally got it. I really enjoy the longevity of IRAE on my skin. It doesn’t fill out the room noticeabaly, but it is perfect for relationship, hugging your love. It’s really lovely. I like it because it’s unique. Look at the "it reminds me ..." section.
