Lucrethia

I will start the review by saying that Lucrethia is indeed very similar to the original Black Opium. The other reviewers below were right! On my skin I can smell the most the following notes: jasmine, coffee, vanilla, patchouli with some pear in the very first minutes. A floral sweet juice! The benzoin and the amber gives some warmth. Unfortunately no pink pepper, no petitgrain, no laurels, no linden blossom or cloves, which I think would give Lucrethia more complexity and dimension and would make it stand out more on the market than the classic Black Opium. Found it for a good deal, less than how much Black Opium costs these days, so I decided to blind buy it. I can say that I prefer so much more Lucrethia because it performs better overall and the packaging is so much more beautiful and luxurious. Lucrethia’s statuesque burgundy, velvet bottle with gold accents is a joy to look at. A classic beauty! The cap is heavy and metallic which is a nice touch and an upgrade in packaging compared to Tiziana Terenzi Classic Collection caps. All in all, in my experience, Lucretia is the luxury version of Black Opium and I very much prefer it!

This is NOT Black Opium, it is the same type of scent as Black Opium as far as the coffee and vanilla. I like this scent, it is pretty and a little sweet, but not overwhelming. I like that it isn't as straightforward as Black Opium, it has a light fruitiness and light floral mixed into the coffee and vanilla. Longevity is only medium on me (I have a problem getting anything to last), and it sits fairly close, not much projection. It is a bit overpriced based on performance, but a great scent.

Lucrethia by V Canto is hands down amongst the most bewitching of my perfumes. It's built using high quality ingredients which are in perfect balance. It is sweet, yes, but not a bit cloying. It's not another version of neither BO nor 100SW, there's complexity, playfulness and edge to it that both of the aforesaid perfumes lack. An interesting take on honeysuckle, too. the sillage is moderate and it lasts 5 to 7 h.

This is a spectacular fragrance that imo smells super unique and me personally, I haven't smelled something similar to this. I love the combination of the notes that are blended in such a professional way. But the dry down is something I have to stop and talk about; this is just mesmerizing, the vanilla, the honeysuckle, patchouli, cedar, wow this combo is a winner and is perfect for christmas time. 10/10 for me

a fantastic winter perfume which fits for both men and women. I read that for a lot of people it reminds them Black Opium, but in my opinion I don't even think they are close to each other scentwise and lucrethia is wayyyyy better, sorry not sorry ;) The longevity in this one is ETERNAL, it stayed on my scarf for weeks, I'm not even kidding.

Absolutely and completely Black Opium, but black Opium is like the base model car and Lucrethia is the same model but with the turbo, leather seats, and metallic paint. Lucrethia wipes the floor with longevity and depth. The house of V Canto has outstanding quality and a multitude of underrated gems IMHO. Worth getting your nose on!

it reminds me of Black Opium but not the same, Opium is about coffee and pear with loooots of vanilla, and Lucrethia is more about cocoa and linden, with pear, coffee and vanilla on the side. stupid to say they are much different, the resemblence is obvious but my nose smells them as two ways heading to one point

This is gorgeous and not at all what I expected. I usually can't tolerate honeysuckle or pear, but this is wonderfully blended and oh so strong, as I have come to expect from V Canto. Another winner.

Lucrethia has much better quality and performance than black opium, and more edgy to compare of hundred silent ways, i bought it blindly and i don't regret it

An opulent bouquet of sweet white florals! Inviting and alluring!!!

This is the most peculiar fragrance I own. When I smell it on the atomizer, or when I first spray it on myself, the initial scent is sharp, astringent — it gives the impression of a powerful cleaning agent, without any discernible notes, save for the very faintest trace of bitter coffee in the background. Within 20 minutes, however, the smell changes entirely. Lucrethia becomes smooth, creamy, sweet, vanillic, with a fruity touch from the pear and that lingering bitterness from the coffee note to stop her from becoming cloying. It’s very, very pretty once it dries down, and I am glad I gave it a chance beyond the frankly unpleasant opening. The lasting power on the skin is impressive; I can smell traces of the perfume 10+ hours later. However, the sillage is virtually non-existent. This stays very close to the body. If you want to leave a scent trail, this is not the one for you. However, if you want a unique fragrance that is sweet but clean, Lucrethia is a winner. For what it is worth, I do not find this smells at all like Black Opium. I cannot stand Black Opium but enjoy Lucrethia.

Well blended, sweet, lightly woody, floral, with coffee piercing through. I would say this a smoother, well blended version of Black Opium. Not as sweet in my opinion and doesn't last very long. It has light to medium projection but doesn't last long on me. I need to re spray every 3 hours maybe and by then the scent is very close to the skin. The notes that stand out most for me are Pear, coffee, Jasmine, Amber, Cacao, benzoin and vanilla. It's not a wow for me but an easy blind buy or gift.

This smells very similar to YSL Black Opium Nude. If you have one, no need to purchase the other - Dont spend hours trying to find a minute difference, they both smell wonderful (V Canto Lucrethia and YSL Blk Opium); So, if you are trying to make a choice with which one you should buy - pick the cheapest.

This perfume smells amazing!!! However, it doesn't last on me more than half hour if that. Maybe I got a bad bottle. If it lasted longer at least 3 hours, it would surely be on my top 5.

The opening is Black Opium and soap. Quite sharp and all over the place. The dry down is better, smoother and with less of the soapiness. I see the resemblance to both Black Opium and Hundred Silent Ways as far as the gourmand notes go. Somehow this ends up being less heavy.

On me this is just a clean, fresher smelling, less sweet Black opium. Not A bad fragrance but I expected more depht from the coffe, cacao, clove and patchouli. Not impressed.

I have just received Lucrethia and it's such a disappointment. It doesn't smell like niche. I thought it will smell like niche version of Black Opium. It's boring,not strong. This perfume is crowd pleaser. Just another sweet fragrance that is not ground breaking. You can easily buy YSL Black Opium, JPG La Belle Intense, or much cheaper Elie Saab Girl of Now and save your coins. After second testing(15 sprays) I can hardly smell it. I have geniune fragrance for sure(from SeeScents UK) It is a joke! No longevity, no sillage. I have to put my nose in blouse to detect it. After 2h it's completely gone from my clothes. Such a waste of a money.

This doesn’t smell to me like Nishane 100SW, and the coffee note is more pleasant than the one in YSL BO. If I have to describe what Lucrethia is a mix of, it would be YSL BO or Bronze Goddess EDP layered on top of a pear perfume. Not the green type of pear, but yellow ripe pear (the yellow peel and the juice hold more peachy and autumn facets) like - Ralph Lauren’s TENDER Romance; Yvets Rocher Poire/Poire Cocoa; Anick Goutal Petit Cherie (peachy-woody perfumes like Modern Pincess SENSUELLE that hold in similar feel; “linden blossom” perfumes like Jo Malone French Lime falls in the same category). So instead of those coffee notes you imagine from Black Opium line to be featured in a sweet and earthy way, they are mellowed and rounded by a yellow-floral honey-pear base, which remains on skin and becomes the drydown. Black Opium has already become annoying to me, after the cumulative effects of overexposure, but Lucrethia still works for me, exactly because of what lingers from it in the drydown. Past the opening, Lucrethia feels actually closer to Ralph Lauren TENDER Romance (discontinued), than Black Opium. Those who miss TENDER Romance may not find a dupe in Lucrethia, but for as long as they are comfortable with coffee notes, will find Lucrethia to be a safe blind-buy and very enjoyable. It also makes for a great gift.

Lucrethia V Canto is a true ambery floral flagrance for men and women. Though I recommend it more for men. I would surely love a man wearing it because there is spiciness, amberness, woodiness and coffee. Mind it, this is not black opium as far as coffee and vanilla is involved. This is sweet, pretty, fruity and floral with masculine touch of spices and my all-time favorite coffee. The longevity is long lasting the silage is pretty strong for this one. Initially I was able to smell more of lime, pepper, pear and laurels which settled soon after into coffee, cloves, amber and jasmine. The dry down for this scent is all of vanilla, patchouli and cedar. Quiet an alluring and inviting with the depthness of coffee. I prefer to use this in winter, fall and cold nights. Projection is good enough to get noticed but I don’t get much compliments for this one. Recommend to try with your skin chemistry before you buy.

V Canto "Lucrethia" is a 95% match for YSL "Black Opium" the only difference is that the coffee note in the Lucrethia isn't quite as strong(but it's still there).. but besides that it's an exact match. Lucrethia is definately better quality and it last 4x as long as Black Opium before it starts to fade into a cheap smelling skin scent. You can get Lucrethia on the discount fragrance websites for close to the same price as Black Opium.

I am beginning to think Pear fragrances just dont have lasting power. This is the fourth or fifth sample for me and it just disappears almost from the moment of application. That being said I do agree with others here it is reminiscent of Black Opium but smoother. Longevity is similar. If you shop around you can find it similarly priced to BO...so if you want to go pear-niche buy this. iF you want pear-designer Black Opium buy that.

I hate Black Opium with a passion, so it is weird to me that I absolutely love this, because this actually smells Very similar. But better. Muuuch better. Alas, longevity is absolute zero, at least on me, so I won't be buying a full bottle, I think. It's full on winter here right now - I'll try it again in spring cause I think it might be better then. But scentwise? Divine!

Scent - jasmine florigen. Season/Time of Day - I prefer to use this one in the colder months, during the day. Projection - I didn't get noticed, I didn't get a compliment. Longevity - I get 8hrs consistently.

I have received this perfume today. From my first sniff I understood that its reminds me some perfume I smelled many years ago. And it was Hugo Boss Deep Red. To my nose, it is not similar to Black Opium.

I have to say, that it's not an unique scent...for me it's a better version of YSL Black Opium. So if you like this perfume, you gonna love Lucrethia ;)

This smells like the Nuit Blanche flanker of Black Opium but with much, much better longevity. Yummy!

Exactly same with Nishane HSW and UL Hidden accord

This is what a cougar would smell like.

Way to soapy for me. Did not like it!
