Mastin

This stuff is strong. Even one spray on my skin lasts nearly a day and I'm someone whose skin eats perfume. Unlike Irae and Mea Culpa which left me sneezing this was not irritating my nose despite its strength. There's a point in the mid and drydown where it resembles Silver Mountain Water with the woody spices only Mastin is heavier on the woods.

Pulled this one up again since the weather is slowly getting cooler. It is now woodier and stronger than ever. I don't think I can wear this at warmer weather anymore without suffocating myself. And that's just one spray.

Totally disagree Q80. This stuff is 10/10 Diff nose, taste....... Smells like a paladin with full heavy armor :D

This is a great long-wearing woody scent from V Canto. It's a cozy scent, perfect for nighttime wear.

A rather unconventional oud rose. From the first spray, it opens with oud and saffron: dry, like dark wood that has been smoked with spices. The rose that follows is not a fresh floral rose. It feels more like a faint, dark floral trace seeping out from within the oud after the petals have already dried. The woody character is very heavy, and the saffron gives it a slight leathery and medicinal edge. What makes the oud in this fragrance distinctive is that it is not the kind of oud softened and rounded out with sweet rose and amber. Instead, it keeps the sharpness and oppressive weight of oud intact. In the middle, the iris makes it powderier and drier. This powdery quality is also a cool, dry powderiness, which makes the rose feel even darker. Overall, the wood completely overwhelms the floral aspect. The drydown is more like the woody ash left after oud has burned out, mixed with a little old leather, dry wood shavings, and a salty, warm musk that clings to the skin. The main body of this fragrance is saffron, powdery iris, and dry woods. The rose does not have a strong presence. Longevity is powerful, while projection is moderate. It is better suited to those who can accept sharp oud, and not for anyone looking for a smooth, sweet, crowd-pleasing oud rose fragrance.

Not good, not bad. To me, Mastin is an interesting woody and resinous scent that I was drawn to sample based on both the notes pyramid and perfumer. Mastin is a bold and complex scent for for a strong personality; someone who is in charge and does not kowtow nor have to placate others. Although there are some interesting elements in this fragrance--and it is a good fragrance--Mastin just doesn't fire on all cylinders as I feel there is a note out-of-place or there is something lacking in this fragrances IMO. I have read where fragrances are a manifesto of our more profound inclinations. While true, anyone who has ever written a manifesto is usually bat-shit crazy. Sometimes this lends brilliance to a scents while, other times, you admit the creativity...while watching the author of the manifesto being hauled away in shackles and cuffs. So while I admit this creation is interesting, I'm going to pass on merely watch from the sidelines. Longevity is solid in that it lasts an honest 7-8 hours on my skin, while projection is moderate. Overall, it's worth sniffing and judge for yourselves.

One of many bottles I own. Picked this up for 50$ from Joma. The scent profile seems kinda generic to me. I can tell there is complexity in the drydown, but this fragrance seems better suited to a gym bag after a shower workout than something mysterious. It's fresh, bright, but not citrus bright, more of a light, airy bright. The profile notes made me think I was getting a masterwork of art, but, sad to say, that's not the case with this one. It just feels generic. Compared to what I see on paper.

Smelling something like nagarmotha (like in Shem by Nishane) on opening, and that note still lingers. I couldn't find it in the notes section either. It's a predominantly herbal, woody saffron scent, albeit aromatic. Not too sweet. Will I be able to smell sand on my skin? Let me concentrate. No, it does not work. This aromatic note overwhelms everything. I hope one day someone will understand what I meant.

Powerful long lasting perfume. Initial blast is quite bug sprayish to my nose. It doesnt' appear that way to someone else smelling it off of my hand so its not a general opinion. Over the period it does blossom and you can pick the rose and oud etc apart. The bug spray part is possibly the orange blossom because I have a similar problem with SL's fleurs d'oranger.

The first hour is warm, woody, spicy, dense, sharp, pointed like ammonia with a floral bouquet dated by a noblewoman....with an angry menopause character. Then more calm, improving the atmosphere by limiting the flowers while remaining linear and masculine until the end. Not bad but angry a short distance. Exactly a mastiff with leather collar and steel points. This is love or hate and if you do not bother that pointed note the mastiff has found a master.

Definitely not for everyone smells like bug spray for the first 15-30 mins this is spicy with heavy oud animalic like and lots of rose with woods I might just sell this it’s been with me for a year just sprayed it today again and now I remember why I don’t like it.

I received a sample of this fragrance after purchasing a large lot from another fraghead so maybe my review is off because my experience of this fragrance is completely different from everyone else's here. I got virtually no sillage or longevity. In fact I could barely smell the fragrance on my skin. I think it was a light wood. Thats it. It is not expensive though. I am a super fan of Terenzi and have several that I love but have not found a V Canto thats swept me off my feet yet.

Now this one is kind of disturbing.. allot of artificial notes stuffed in here oud, woods, musc, ambergris, saffron, and some cough cough cough, it's like a nylon artificial bag. I don't know if this one uses the same quality items as the other fragrances from this house! This is not as a good as the other ones in this line.

Cheers V canto for another superb fragrance!!! My ex-boyfriend was mad over this scent. He used to hang around like a honey bee on flower whenever I used to wear this. Hahaha! I still remember, how I have used and mis-used this lovely scent over those 2 years

You entered the bathroom after your grandpa. He tried to cover his "business" up with his eau de cologne. Though unsuccessful.
