Katia

This is a smell from my past. This was apparently one of my mom's first perfumes, and despite her not using it by the time I was born; I always saw this gorgeous bottle on her vanity. In my mind this was an old lady smell, belonging to someone more on the mature side. Surely the smell of an independent woman; it doesn't invoke sensuality, but rather power. And although I had these ideas about Katia in my mind, I haven't smelt the actual perfume for many many years, until this year. As I got my first few paychecks this year, I was thinking of spending some money on something that will remind me that I'm a financially independent person myself. And as I walked past the glamorous Vakko store at a nearby mall, I decided that I wanted to get Katia, which also meant freedom and maturity for my mom, many years ago. And the moment I got home and opened up the packaging to get a whiff, my memories came back. I was right about thinking that this was a not-so-sensual but powerful, mature smell; but in my opinion, this doesn't smell dated or fogeyish. I can definitely see the nostalgia, as some other commenters here mention their moms as well, but I think this perfume still has use and versatility. It's surely more fitting for winter and fall, and I can imagine how this would irritate some noses during spring and especially in the summer. I'd say this is more of a day perfume, for the appropriate season, and it's quite long-wearing. The sillage is strong, but not too obnoxious to bother people from across the room. Above the inter-generational feelings and the nostalgia for an older, upper-middle class Turkish society; I think I genuinely like it.

All we miss and regret about once a beautiful country... Gracious, elegant, classy. Must be much more older, it was already legendary in early 90's. And also all that I miss about once nicely bold perfumes. My friend were painting scarfs for Vakko, her atelier were nearby its headquarter in İstanbul and we all had handfull of its samplers which was a real treasure for us because at this time it was too luxurious and expensive for our student allowances :)

Is there anyone who remembers the vakko in cornish in izmir? When you open the door and walk to the elevators,usually a very chic lady would pass by and she would be wearing fur and smelling Katia. Yes this fragrance is so feminine and adult and its definitely a rich women's fragrance. I will always love it.

Very old, much much older than 2009 as stated in the description above. When I was a high school student ( in 90s) I used to smell the tester, and dream of affording it. I did so many times later in 2000s.. Last year in 2019 my eyes caught it while I was wandering.I happily sniffed it; it was old- fashioned. Really old-fashioned, a frag representing even much older decades than 90s. It used to be expensive, now it costs a third of comparable frags, such as those of Guerlain, Dior, Chanel. It seems that my nose and life evolved. Katia is left behind. Vakko could have updated this scent; it could have re-designed the bottle, re-formulated the original to lighten and keep up with the fragrance world. Instead Vakko let Katia age old-fashionably. Sad:((

While I love hyacinth so much, this perfume didn't quite work for me. It seems quite heavy, overpowering. Then maybe it is because I love mild, non intrusive, floral scents.

this smells like a girlboss. end of discussion. this fragrance is too young to be suitable for an older lady, but too mature to be suitable for a younger woman. it's a refreshing experience all around, but it's so strong that it could not be worn during hotter days. really insane projection, and a good longevity. Vakko fragrances are really underrated and unknown even by Turks I guess. jasmine and freesia are two distinctive florals to my nose, obviously lovely ambers settle this scent down a little, also there's a dirty musk that give this scent a feminine sexual edge during the drydown. a little bit leathery, a little bit sweaty but definitely sexy, at least to a sub-20 year old man like me. weird, since this fragrance could be at least 10 years older than me. while this is a really old and classic french amber floral style fragrance, don't think there are floral ingredients of this quality in designer fragrances of 2025.

I am not doing well with Katia... You need to adore a very strong white floral bouqet to enjoy this, and Katia is pretty much an unadultered one at that. It's a quality perfume, longevity and sillage is superb, but the bottle & packaging could be way better for the price. They do an incredibly nice gift pack in Vakko stores however. If I happen to find a lady who will appreciate this fragrance, I may think about gifting it. It's a very mature frag (albeit I don't normally make this distinction as it goes for perfumes); yet Katia begs for a definite accomplishment in life (like having gone beyond & done many things including grandchildren). Sexuality doesn't apply here, but it's neither a virginal frag.

God I grew up with this perfume all around me!! Old fashioned, pure floral. To my nose, the hyacinth, rose, mimose, and musk were the most prominent. Has monster sillage and projection. I'd buy it on my next visit to Turkey as well. If for nothing else than the sweet memories of the old country... :o)

my mom's fragrance. katia is quite heady, strong floral fragrance. hyacinth is the dominant note. i think it is suitable for autumn or winter. pure nostalgia for me

this perfume was launched much earlier. I remember, I bought it for my mum in 1992 in Izmir, Turkey. the Vakko for men was also at that time.

Had it in early 90s, fun and floral and misky, don't know if I would like it today.
