Rock'n'Rose Couture

Rock’n’Rose is charming and comforting perfume. It reminds me of my garden at the cottage where I grow blackcurrants with bushes of old roses and sweet honey like wildflowers. There is nothing edgy about this scent. It wraps around like a blanket on a cool starry summer night. It reminds me of a quiet time with the nature when I felt relaxed and happy. Blackcurrant in the opening is accompanied by tender scent of lily of the valley and bergamot. I love this trio. I think the choice of lily of the valley makes the opening classy and chic and compliments the blackcurrant really well. Lily of the valley here is not strong. They just add a nice touch to blackcurrants. The heart is gardenia and rose. There is something sweet and honey-like about the heart notes in this fragrance. It reminds me of a sweet and romantic pink rose. I guess the scent is a bit powdery but it is very classy and feminine. I would recommend this fragrance for someone who likes sweet romantic floral. Blackcurrants here are not as defined as in AMETHYST but I do love how they are paired with lily of the valley, so if you love blackcurrant scents like I do then you might want to give this a try. This perfume does not give me thrills or pushes the limits but it is lovely, romantic and so comforting to wear.

its just the edp version of rock and rose.. more intense.. more of a night time perfume.. less fresh.. less citrusy.. and definitely more intense.. and a hint darker..i personally prefer the first edition of rock and rose.. to me its more magical..that being said it is a beautiful perfume.. more feminine.. more perfume.. ..older.. maybe used by older women ..its got more rose in a duller complexity.. more vanilla.. more bergamont..more alluring ..less soapy.. more woody.. ..more floral.. white floral ..florals.. roses..musky.. powdery ..heavenly..more seductive..a tin sh sweet..very elegant classy..and layered together with rock and rose turns heads around.. perfume ratting 4 .1 out 5 bottle ratting 4 out 5 edp 50 ml bought from sephora about 110 us$

This fragrance was my favorite from the house of Valentino. Amazing spicy deep lovely feminine roses, quite long-lasting and romantic, but at the same time excites the mind and feelings..beautiful pinkish bottle covered with the beautiful black lace.. It was a sexy perfume! I would love to buy it..HEY, Valentino, you need to start to produce that beauty again! It was your best fragrance!

I think they both smell the same. I have the original and got this one thinking it was stronger and would last longer. I couldn't tell them apart, it's like the got the same scent and changed the bottle design to make it different. Well the more the merrier for me, I love them both. :)

hmm i adore this frag! got to have a bigger bottle of it someday..at least if it doesnt dissapears when i ran out of mine! beautifull rose scent, someone actually inhaled when he passed me *lol* i couldnt help hearing it haha,a silent compliment i guess ;-p

I take it back!! I wore it today and I am still sniffing it and it's yummy!! I feel sexy in it!! It smells like roses with confectioners sugar and champagne!! Ahhh I may buy the big bottle .. :) mmm

Soft, beautiful and lovely scent. Bottle is lovely too :).. I liked it more than the other Rock and Rose versions.. but the only problem is that it does not last long on me..

Why oh why do they discontinue the best fragrances?! This was fabulous! I received so many compliments when I wore this. Please bring it back with the original formula.

I was expecting more. It's okay. A nice sweet rosy scent. If I'd spray more I may get a headache. It smells kinda 90's as well. Not bad though!!

It's not a very special perfume, but it smells delish, and my husband is absolutely crazy about it! The kind of smell men seem to like a lot!

Rock N' Rose Couture is similar Cacharel Lou Lou, for me... Couture's bottle is more fascinating then the others..

My fav! I miss the gold era of valentino perfume

Such a great combination of notes, which create an amazing perfume like this one. A rosy and flowery fragrance, with a feminine and warm character. The top notes are fresh, you feel the mix of lily of the valley and bergamot. The rose in the middle note is very dominant and has a very feminine/soft touch because of the orange blossom. After a few hours, you are left with more comforting notes like orris and vanilla. Overall, such a harmonious scent, which I really enjoy wearing and would probably always adore. The lasting power is phenomenal, I can still smell the base notes after 12 hours of wearing it. R'n R Couture is a light perfume, but it has enough power to get completely captivated by it. In my opinion, this fragrance suits better for a mild spring or summer day, the effect wouldn't be the same on winter days. The pretty bottle suits the scent, I also think this version is the best of the R'n R flankers. Just like a melody on a rock concert ;)

I like the previous reviewer's description of dark rose. This smells dark to me as well, a night scent. Very rose with this fun tangy black currant swirling in harmony. Very intriguing. This almost reminds me of skittles, though I wouldn't classify this as necessarily sweet. I know black currant is a skittles flavor in other countries so perhaps this description will resonate with people familiar with black currant skittles. Chew on some of those while sniffing a rose at midnight. Bam, you have Rock n' Rose couture. It's a like from me.

I Confess: ... I only bought it because of the beautiful bottle!!!... And for a long time it stayed in my wardrobe without use (Normally i don't like Floral perfumes). Slowly i started wearing it. And each time i liked it more. A very comfortable rose scent, with a little bit of spices and a delicious vanilla base. Nowadays, I just love it. Very feminine and sexy.. Definitely a "Rock'n Rose"... Can be used at night and also on fresh days.Good lasting power: Stays the whole day. In my opinion Valentino's Rose is one of the best!!

I miss this. It's not worth shelling out the money for a bottle of this discontinued scent, though. I wore this all the time when it first came out. As well as the rose, I used to get the musk, lily of the valley and orris notes quite strongly. Blackcurrant was noticeable for the first 10 minutes or so. I don't remember the heliotrope or the vanilla being there, but it has been a while. It's a soft, feminine and sophisticated scent. My only gripe is that it has no projection at all.

I really liked Pret a Porte and it seems that this one too. It's very innocent, fresh, nice floral scent with a hints of gardenia. It's very rosy at the beginning with sweet berries. It's quite light to be used in warm summer days. Later I can feel vanilla and something else, unfamiliar to my nose, but nice. The bottle is very gorgeous in black lace and adorned with black rose. I think original bottle design is too plain, this one is just right. I can see buying this sometime...

I get more vanilla than black currant. Not a fruity floral IMO. But definitely rose. I am a rose girl; give me rose in any form, and I'm on Cloud 9. My body turns any rose into magic. The vanilla rounds this out into a tad of sweetness but without any syrup. Reasonable lasting strength; decent silage as I can smell it on myself a few hours in. I got a "WOW you smell good!" when wearing this one evening from someone who came in close for a hug.

It is a strange and alluring perfume. The scent is warm, smoky and powdery. On the other hand, it is not sweet or sexy. A bottle reflects the fragrance. The first impression,the perfume for an older lady in black in church. Second, perfume for fans of Gothic. That means a lot of darkness, black lace and sad scent of lilas and a little roses. Its beauty lies in the depressing sadness.

A soft rose with a gentle spicy edge. I agree with previous reviews it is rather comforting. It is a safe fragrance ideal for the work place. This fragrance was given to me as a gift last christmas, I would not buy it for my self but I do really like to wear it when I want to smell of roses. The bottle is beautiful, looks lovely on a dresser.

A powdery, elegant, kind of comforting perfume. Soft, sensual and inviting, lingers beautifuly on skin. It's a kind of smell that will make your man want to hold you close. It makes me think of sugared roses, powder, long hair, sexy black lace lingerie and a pink cardigan. Decent lasting power. Overall: very lovely.

A dark scent for me but in a good way! It is a very strong floral scent that last hours on the skin. I have kept the bottle for years because I like it and I still have a drop of it but I'm giving it away. I have to say that I feel sorry that this perfume has discontinued because it was a good scent!

Everytime I remeber the money I spent with this perfume I just want to kill myself... Roses, baby talc and a very boring a fade away vanilla in the end. Thats what you will smell after the first 10 minutes that are actually really beautifull and fresh, after that: boredom.

Nice, pleasant, alluring, yet it smells a bit common to me. It's one of those "familiar" perfumes that remind you of other ones you had long ago. Nothing special but worth a try (or more). The bottle is glamorous indeed, very 60's

I tried this when it first came out, what can I say? Even the bottle is adorable! (I still keep it :) The smell is also very nice, very floral and you can definitely smell the rose...Its very feminine and romantic :)

I adore this fragrance, I don't think it's so different from the oroginal one but it doesn't bother me. I think it's tempting and discrete in the same time, I feel very feminine wearing it.

Such a nice bottle. The scent is close to the original Rock'n'Rose, just a bit deeper.

Nothing special, very weak sillage and smells like some Avon perfumes.

I guess I am the only one who is not enthousiastic about the bottle. As for the the lace 'sock': so far, so good, but the plastick black rose..? To me, it looks cheap and it gets me in the way while spraying. Luckily I am able to remove all this pishposh and there is just a plain classy round bottle left. However, the important thing is the fragrance of course! To me, Rock 'n Rose Couture is not all about the rose. It is a rather fresh bouquet of mainly lily of the valley, bit gardenia and a few roses. I also swear to smell freesia, but maybe that is the effect of the cassis and bergamot added to the previous flowers. The whole composition smells rather alcoholic actually, which dissapoints me. The sillage and lasting power is just medium. I guess this is a fragrance easily worn for 'casual wear', especially for somewhat older women. Not that it smells classic or 'old', but it is quite mature for a fresh bouquet. I myself am going to wear this to ballet-class untill it is finished, and am not planning to repurchase it...

I got this as a gift a few years back and only wore it a handful of times, but I received compliments for it constantly. On me it's very dark, funereal - I get dusty rose, more like a dusty fabric that's been rose-scented than the flower itself. It settles into an almost rotten sweetness tempered by powdery musk, with a hint of that dusty rose noticeable all the way through. It's the perfect dark, sumptuous complement to black cashmere or velvet on a night out, but it can be overwhelming; it gave me a headache a couple of times, since it's very noticeable and lingers so close to the skin.

I took a look at the packaging and said: sure this will be stronger than Rock and Rose, but no, it was not. Actually it is lighter, but to me it is the same scent as the original one . Nothing different at all.

A very sharp scent to my nose. Thats why I dont like it. smells also a slight chemical to me

When I sprayed Rock 'n Rose on I expected a classy rose, (it is -after all- a Valentino!) instead imagine my surprise that it smells like a more 'mellow' modern version of Cacharels LouLou! with a high note of rose! LouLou is harder to find and costs more. So, sniff this and be amazed! Also; I do love the round bottle with the long octagon shaped cap and black lace covering with a black rose and Valentino label. It looks very different among my other 'undressed' bottles. Silage is: "soft, yummy and powdery, but very noticeable without being rude" -- Longevity is 5+ hours. A wonderful powdery sexy floral with a hint of spice. Suitable for evening or dates. And for people who would like to have a LouLou type scent; or who like LouLou but would love a softer version. Yummy! I will buy this one again.

unfortunately neither of rock & rose and couture version didn't work for me.I found both of them somehow flat,specially at the first sniff.I have no passion for these.they're just floral. the middle notes are not mentionable neither.I like the gardenia but it's not something I can't stop smelling. the best part of this perfume is the base nots.I don't know from where it gets these differences,but after 2 hours it just starts smelling better.heliotrope and sandal wood,with something I call mandarin have made a good mixture. by the way I prefer V series to these ones and I'm waiting to test rock n dream which seems to be so different from these two.

sweet, dark, dusty rose. Some woods, quite unidentified. I like this one a lot but still there is something i can't put my finger on and it bothers me. It is girly and mature at the same time, like a teenage girl that tries so hard to be grown up. And still, it is a good scent, i like the gothic vibe, dark and a bit smoky, and rosy and sweet. Really hard to describe but good to have it for one of those rainy autumn days when you feel a bit grumpy and nostalgic, trying to accept the fact that summer is dead and winter is near. And the last roses are there, dark red and damp, and sad.

What a nice fragrance! This is a classy rose floral with a nice warm base perfect for those of us looking for a great versatile scent. This is a great scent that is versatile enough for day or night and just about any time of the year. To me it's basically a rosy-musk and is neither sharp or sweet - very smooth and easy to wear. As a vanilla-disliker, thankfully I can't speciffically detect the vanilla. It's neither girlie or old lady. The bottle is very nice too and I love looking at it on my dressing table. I highly recommend it.

I like this one WAY better then the original.This one has more too it.It is sweeter, it's more sensual,it stands out more.The lasting power isn't that good but I don't mind reapplying it. The original was very Blah to me & this one has a kick.I can definitely tell them apart & although it's isn't offensive it is noticeable.I love it ;)

un geniale bouquet floreale, sapientemente miscelato. dolce, morbida, un identità misteriosa e provocante nella sua innocenza, consacrata dalla rosa più nobile e lieve. la boccetta a sfera, sfiziosa, è ricoperta da un pizzo scabro e una rosa nera che ricordano un capo di lingerie. dovrebbe essere un must tra le fragranze femminili !

Sweet and romantic perfume, but as Jalutschka pointed out, definitely not for girls who ROCK and ROLL! :) I don't feel that the marketing or bottle design fits how this smells. I get lots of girlie rose, and not much bergamot. I expected something with more musk or smoke. Lasted about four hours on my skin.

I love everything about this perfume. It's the prettiest bottle I own, it smells very feminine and sweet and it lasts a good 4 or 5 hours on me. I like to layer it with the Rock n Rose lotion. This was a present to myself last year because it was a little pricey but the pretty bottle was calling to me. :)

They are very similar. Couture is original Rock'n rose + slightly smoky effect + a little bit spices. I love it. The dry-down is perfect. Original is light, this one is deep rosy scent, slightly spicy, sensual, elegant and it has good staying power.

It's such a good parfume. Wearable day and night. For dates and business. An Allrounder. Not too heavy and men love it very much! I hate it in parfumes if the rose note dominates but this one is very well balanced. SUCH A FEMININE SCENT :)

this smelllls soo very good and i just love the bottle and i know for a fact that i'm going to keep it long after the contents are done...very happy with this one
