Valentina Myrrh Assoluto

Wow! My favorite out of the Valentina line, which is saying a lot as I also love the EDP and Poudre versions. What a dreamy scent. Myrrh Assoluto is so warm, deep and balanced, it's hard to describe. Creamy and extremely balsamic, but with just a hint of dry incense fizziness. The opening has something minty about it, a bit like the filling of After Eight chocolates, but it quickly melts away into the lovely vanilla and myrrh. These two make such a good couple and only enhance each other's warmth. At some moments I smell the kinship to the earthy sweet floral that is the original Valentina, but this flanker can stand on its own feet. The leather note is subtle and feminine, not animalic. Ylang-ylang floats above the other notes and brightens the scent so it stays fresh and doesn't smell like an old fashioned oriental resin bomb. Not that there is anything bad about those, but this is different. This perfume feels distinctly Italian to me, maybe because I have often seen and smelled myrrh scented products from Italian brands, but rarely elsewhere. It also has such a glamorous nighttime feeling, it would fit perfectly under a clear starry sky, with gold jewelry, cocktail dresses, champaign and laughter. But I would also feel comfortable wearing it at daytime, especially in the cooler seasons. Valentina Myrrh Assoluto often gets compared to the more expensive Initio Psychedelic Love. Luckily I like Myrrh Assoluto much better! They share a similar base, but Psychedelic Love has an extra layer of almond-like sweetness that this beautiful balsamic composition really doesn't need.

What can I say about her that hasn't already been said? She is deep, rich, alluring- although perhaps too sweet to truly be called "mysterious." The blending is beautiful on this one. I find the pairing of myrrh and ylang ylang in particular to be genius. It's the kind of frag that you find yourself constantly burying your nose into your wrist, scarf, etc., in an effort to get all of its essence, but also just to really suss out and understand the notes and how they work together to produce this collective impression. When I back up a bit, Myrrh Assuloto reminds me a bit of soda- like a root beer or Dr. Pepper. It's the spiciness of the myrrh with the contrasting sweetness of vanilla, but there's also something about this perfume that is strangely effervescent, in spite of how rich it is. Others have described it as having a "chewy" texture or being reminiscent of bubblegum, but I sense a lifting, lilting quality that is both playful and heady at once. I like to spritz it on my robe before bed. It feels like the perfect precursor to dreaming. Like a dream, however, the promise of this perfume most definitely dissolves rather quickly. The drydown is gorgeous, but after a few hours, the traces of Myrrh Assoluto left on clothing remind me of a root beer popsicle-slightly spicy but oh-so-over-the-top sweet. You absolutely must love vanilla to enjoy this, and as others have said, you can only wear it during the coldest weather.

I love myrrh and this is so far my absolute favorite. The darkness of leather is sufficiently counterbalanced by the perfectly judged sweetness of this perfume. It is very comforting and comfortable, especially on a dreary dark rainy December day in the middle of the Covid pandemic. The longevity is out of this world. I applied one spray to the back of my hand yesterday around 10 AM. Since then I have had a number of hand washes, took a shower and washed my hair, washed dishes...and I still get whiffs of vanilla plus amber from my hand is I type this review. I have been switching between this perfume, Oudmazing, Samsara and Bracken for the last two weeks. They are all great scents and each provides a measure of comfort in its own way. I am not young (in my 50s) and in addition to being able to stay connected thanks to technology I am also grateful for such slightly frivolous things as having a great variety of perfumes on hand. It makes me feel alive and feminine and hopeful during this awful year. Wishing everyone a safe, healthy, happy holiday season and hopefully a brighter new year!

Smoldering myrrh and smooth vanilla. Entrancing, intoxicating, yet so mellow. Immersive bliss, an almost religious experience considering the incensey nature of Myrrh Assoluto. It deserves an altar unto itself! Of course, they had to go and discontinue it... absolute buzzkills. Anyway, this is a blind-buy jackpot for me. I was trying to be good, but I couldn't not get it, I've been eyeing it for so long and the opportunity presented itself, so I dove in... and I do not want to come back to the surface. The ylang-ylang is quite present, but it's coming off as slightly citrusy and not so much the sharp floral it's known for being. The leather is quite subtle here, leaving the myrrh and vanilla to speak for themselves as they present their love affair to the world. I think myrrh and vanilla is a new favorite combo of mine, thanks to this. Edit : Just got my decant of Psychedelic Love by Initio and they are almost identical. PL is smoother, while Myrrh Assoluto has more vanilla but with a slight bitterness in the dry down. Needless to say, they're both amazing blends. I'm in myrrh heaven.

On paper and at first it's weak and not interesting but after five minutes there is magic.I can't find good words to say about it's smell.it's vanilla woody notes musk very little flowers and something warm a little smokey and very nice and different.I think it's leather but a good leather not manly or like rubber.I can't say it's a sweet perfume.it's warm and comfortable and feels very good and unique.soft and creamy and great longevity.I want it 9/10 عطر خیلی جالب و متفاوتیه.اولش مخصوصا رو کاغذ تست یجوری هست.خیلی ضعیفه اما بعد از پنج دقیقه عالی میشه.وانیل نت های چوبی مشک مقدار کمی نت های گلی و یک چیز گرم و خاص و کمی دودی که فکر کنم چرم هست چیزهایی هستن که من در این عطر حس می کنم.چرم مردانه یا مثل لاستیک اتومبیل نیست ژنانه و شیک و گرم و زیباست.به نطر من نمیشه گفت عطر شیرینی هست.گرم و خاص و متفاوت و آرامش بخش هست با ماندگاری عالی.من این را حتما می خوام

On paper, I immediately thought "ah crap"... It's got that strong, almost overwhelming sweet incense vibe as Black Orchid, it's dry, loud, a wonderful scent but just far too formal for casual wear.. I thought "how and when am I ever gonna wear this..." However, on my skin it's toned down. My chemistry must not like myrrh as it's not a front contender more distant in the background. The vanilla, ylang and leather come forward. This smells DELICIOUS! I have been craving a leathery deep vanilla and this completely satisfies me. I'm not a vanilla fan as they lean too gourmand, but THIS is my type of vanilla <3 Not a gourmand, nothing too spicy, and not at all boring! I do find this to be quite unique, sensual, a little bit smokey. I'm very happy with this blind buy, I keep huffing my wrist it's so addicting! Will update on performance!

I'm back in for my second review, because I'm so in love with this and so sad that it's discontinued..BUT I tried Psychedelic Love and it is definitely, imho, a perfectly good dupe for Myrrh Assoluto. I had to let you all know because I know others must be craving it the way I do. This is definitely sweeter and just a touch more complex. Both have that gorgeous Ylang Ylang laced opening. PL has more almond like facets in the middle from the hedione, but it settles solidly into the myrrh at drydown, just like this one. Regrettably , PL is MUCH more expensive!! I'm going to very slowly milk the samples I bought on EBay, as I try with all of my might to resist my bottle of Myrrh Assoluto for fear of running out of it. This is the type of juice you have a torrid love affair with and don't ever want it to end!!!

I love this fragrance to such an extreme I’ve been hesitant to document my thoughts on it. Each time I wear it my opinion is strengthened that this might be my favorite designer fragrance. It’s not a perfume I wear to be noticed, though it accomplishes that. I wear it solely for my own enjoyment. There’s something gratifying about smelling a perfume that moves you. It’s a medicinal myrrh with a minty edge at first blast. Waves of the leather weaving through it. Initially is comes off peppery, but transitions to a smooth suede. The ylang ylang is so gorgeous and almost made buttery because of the vanilla. It’s a true powerhouse fragrance, that seems best fit for layers of all things dark and winter. One of my best blind buys to date. If you love myrrh, and don’t shy from resinous, you need this.

I was feeling a bit pathetic today nursing a migraine, and just needing a big aromatic hug. Usually I don't wear fragrance when I get a migraine because it can make me feel a bit nauseous but decided I needed a bit of cocooning. Enter, this balmy, huggy concoction. It's rather dominant with vanilla which is not usually my thing. But blended with soul soothing myrrh, supple leather, and a touch of musk, I got the strong, warm embrace that I needed. And the jasmine. This flower makes me weak in the knees. I didn't pick it up in this fragrance at first, but as it warmed on my skin I could feel its clean, waxy petals emerge from its leathery bed. Elegant yet not uptight, cozy, smooth, perhaps a bit linear but resolute, Myrrh Assoluto was just the fragrance I needed today. Gosh this is beautiful...

Wow!! I finally have her - a full 80ml- and I’m not disappointed!! A creamy dreamy floral amber. The myrrh, Ylang and Jasmine play so well together. The heady, indolic nuances that often come with Ylang and Jasmine are gone, softened and made velvety and plush. The Ylang is the soft banana type of Ylang which I drool over. This is dense but wears closer (has projection) so it’s not overwhelming to the senses. As it dries down the florals disappear and the the Valentina becomes sweeter, creamy almost with an almond nuttiness. There’s a syrupy amber quality that reminds me of the dry down of Bois Talisman- perhaps a sugared cedar? I’m not getting leather or musk but it does have a sensuality that I associate with musk fragrances. Divine!

A nice fragrance and sweeter than I was expecting. It's definitely one for the ladies. I get lots of sweet vanilla and myrhh at the start. Its a shame the vanilla smells so artificial. Once it had settled then the leather car seat note started to slowly surface. The sweetness has thankfully eased off a bit now. I'm now detecting the ylang with creamy musk. The sillage is good for the first hour and then it retracts back to a skin scent. I'm surprised at only moderate longevity. I can see why it is popular. For a mainstream fragrance it does smell almost niche. A cosy scent that's perfect on a chilly day. I think it just misses hitting the love target. Too sweet and not enough myrrh for me.

Tried it just once and can't tell much about it I didn't like it's opening it was semi dark and melancholic and smokey,but then I could get lots of myrrh which I really die for it,blending with creamy vanilla and florals and a soft and warm,skin like musky leather.I find it very soothing.a smooth,lovely and sensual scent,with a cozy quality which is great for cold weather It was a very soft scent and can't fill a room but it's warm cloud seems to stay for a long time close to your skin I liked it but It's very expensive for now so I'm not going to buy it until it becomes discounted P.s:I have nothing with a grey bottle in my collection,I agree that it's a very pretty bottle

blind buy, out the box I didn't like the sweetness. (it's crazy hot here outback) but give it a few days if your testing because while I was put off by the sweetness initially but the way it changes... no that's not the right word, the way it reveals the other notes through out the day is is beautiful. The opening was a sweet myrrh with a lot of vanilla then throughout the day ylang ylang would peak-a-boo. it's so pretty like a burning incense on a tropical beach. Leather for me is in the dry down and its more like suede. A very elegant scent. I'm glad I purchsed but its probably not for summer. (wont stop me) if your a full on leather head like me test before you buy.

Warm soft and chewy, this is very comforting and easy to wear. It reminds me of the nougat middle of a Milky Way or Three Musketeers candy bar. Not quite gourmand, but close enough to satisfy those to lean toward foody scents. Vaguely floral, it leans more feminine because it runs on the sweet side. As a male, I like the coziness of this and don't mind the sweetness as it doesn't scream it's presence, but whispers. Evasive enough to layer with something bolder, but it has the quality and uniqueness to stand alone all by itself. Getting hard to find, so if you see a bottle at a decent price grab it as it is a worthy addition to anyone's collection. Thumbs way up.

Strong like teetering on love for me. I've never smelled straight myrrh before, but the resin is strong and bitter here. The vanilla sweetens it up so that it's not too serious/contemplative, but it does remain considerably bitter and dry. It has a medicinal quality that reminds me of licorice, or Jagermeister. I can also see how you could compare this to an industrial smell like oil paint--the texture is thick and balmy. Definitely a cold weather scent. EDIT: This became a love, and strangely smells like rootbeer to me now. Less like Hypnotic Poison's Mug Rootbeer and more like a small-batch craft rootbeer or something.

This was LOVE at first sniff for me. Sweeter than I expected when I first sprayed it on paper. Oh my... it’s beautiful. The myrrh and vanilla make this sophisticated and cozy at the same time. To me the leather is not strong but it gives it a earthiness. I agree with a few others there is a medicinal quality that peaks through in the beginning. And at the last stage of the dry down I smell that mint chocolate chip ice cream! I don’t find this to be overly sweet, it’s just right in my opinion. It lasts a long time. I can’t stop wearing it and it’s a new favorite. I already ordered a backup bottle like a crazy person.

This is a hidden gem. Quite unique and very beautifully blended. I mostly get the myrrh, but it's not smokey like burning incense, no, this is smooth, sweet and creamy. I think the ylang mixes with the myrrh and vanilla and creates a sweet herbal ointment type of smell. The leather is very subtle. From the Valentina samples I tested so far (Poudre and Oud Assoluto) this one impressed me the most. Maybe it's because i didn't have high expectations, i was more excited to test the other ones, but Myrrh Assoluto managed to surprise me! Highly recommend.

Absolutely divine. I guess such is my fate - to only fall for discontinued, nearly unobtainable fragrances. The is a very dense, sweet myrrh with creamy vanilla and just a touch of incense. It's hard for me to believe from 2026 perspective that designer houses were capable of producing something like this, only do do a 180 and start churning out mass pleasing mediocrity like Born in Roma. The entire Valentina lineup... RIP, and what a shame. I was extremely lucky to obtain Valentina Poudre, but with second hand market for this one... maybe someday.

This is such a beautiful incense fragrance, you guys. I love to burn incense, but was never interested in the scent as a perfume until I got Opium Vapeurs. Took a chance on this one, and it's awesome! I love to keep smelling my arm. Only drawback for me, is that it's a bit masculine for me to actually see myself wearing. I would BURY my face in a man's neck if he were wearing this! With such a feminine bottle, though, I can't get the men in my life to appreciate it. So dumb. Anywho, I'll be looking to trade it. its opening is very sweet but it softens down to let the space to the woody & leathery notes to speak loudly... it is a very warm perfume that welcomes you and surrounds you with lots of notes that push the cold away in the heavy raining days and nights. it is very feminine though with strong leather notes, very sensual & tender though woody and strong... my nose could detect woody notes even are not mentioned in the composition above. the bottle is very gorgeous and elegant and tailored to be held by ladies hands!

Golden Myrrh. The overall scent profile is like Ylang in Gold mixed with a lot of Myrrh. It opens with a blast of Myrrh and leather. The leather is quite strong for the first 30 mins and then it blends with the other notes. As it starts to dry down it becomes very smooth and round. Everything is added in a perfect proportion with no notes sticking out. It is quite sweet with a lot of vanilla and very creamy. At the very end, it's just vanilla. Very cosy and enveloping scent for colder weather and Christmas time.

I love this entire line (all that I’ve tried so far) mainly because it isn’t overwhelmingly strong, and very easy to wear. It’s subtle and elegant, and wouldn’t offend or bother anyone in close range. Assoluto Myrrh is beautiful without being in your face. Creamy and warmly sweet, well balanced with a very feminine sueded leather. I also smell Psychedelic Love. Overall, Myrrh is a fragrance for those who would like to wear something a bit different, without being over the top.

I like it. It’s warm and sweet, but not too sweet. And it surrounds me in a nice, sweet fragrance cloud, but it sits very close to the skin. My husband liked it, but said he was unable to smell me unless close up. This leans feminine, but could be worn by anyone. I was expecting something a little stronger though with more leather. Maybe it’s my body chemistry, but the leather just isn’t coming through for me. I will probably layer this with something else.

"Be still my beating heart." Oh my! I'm having a love affair with myrrh and couldn't deprive myself the possibility? Alas, I'm not sure I'm man enough to pull this beauty off. Sizzlingly seductive. This is definitely going on the wife's vanity. I did buy this hoping to indulge my passion but it leans a bit feminine for me to wear beyond the confines of the abode. I suppose if I want to smell this scent in public I'd better find one of those wives!

I have been wanting this fragrance from the last 3 years, and I finally managed to snag it at a discounter for almost $45 ikr crazyyy deal. Coming on to the review, this is a beautiful Ylang Ylang, Myrrh, and vanilla perfume. The Ylang and vanilla give it a custardy feel and myrrh adds a warm smokiness to the mix. This one’s a beautiful beautiful perfume, idk why they decided to discontinue it. Beats all other Valentinos imo....

Shout out and HUGE thank you to Mistella for the generous sample of this! I absolutely love the smell, all that warm myrrh and vanilla and leather. Hubby and I both kept sniffing obsessively! I would buy it in a heartbeat except...it doesn't last that long on my perfume eating skin and at the price, it ends up out of my price range.], sadly. If I ever find a big sale, I'll def reconsider. Rich, smooth, dark, resinous, animalic, sensual. This is everything I wanted Musc Ravageur to be. Myrrh Assoluto walks right up to the edge of that medicinal, camphorous note that's so prevalent in MR, but retreats to a soft, vanillic, and slightly sweet dry down without crossing that line. The blend is just exquisite and while it leans slightly feminine, I would love to smell this on a masculine person.

I blind bought it and I am not dissapointed. It is very well blended, long lasting and with an interesting development, ranging from mint chocolate to a misterious sexy myrrh. It is surprinsingly sweet for a myrrh fragrance, as others pointed out, and that speaks for the quality and originality of the blend. To me, it smells like snow and winter holidays.

You all were absolutely right about this one! I blind bought it and the first spray has me mesmerized. It is sultry and comforting. The mixture of the myrrh, vanilla and musk blend into a sweet creamy subtle spice that I cannot stop smelling. I guess I have to look at this bottle, because it is discontinued and I can never, Never run out of it!!! WHEW!

This fragrance doesn't develop in the usual manner, you experience all the notes at once when you first spray and it is only after a while each of the notes are individually discernible. The myrrh is the star here, a fabulous sparkling star on a warm soft bed of leather and sweet ylang-ylang. Give this one plenty of time.

LOVE it!! What a wonderful fragrance, I don’t find anything spicy here, but vanilla blended with something warm and woodsy (Myrrh), so comforting, sensual, and deep, I love to layer it with something else in the winter to give me this cozy feeling, but I don’t use it by itself at all. Love Love Love it!

Very beautiful scent. Definitely predominantly myrrh, amazing for cold weather - it brings such warmth. It felt pretty much the same from start to finish, but it's really good. Lasted about 3-4 hours, there is still a faint trace left of it after those hours but not a lot. I wish I had a full bottle!

OK so I have this and initio Psychedelic Love on each hand and they're almost identical.. there are a few more subtle notes in inito and its well blended and a little more quiet.. but thats with a microscope basically! any person to test the two would not probably be able to tell the difference! :)

@Nicyoung, you are absolutely right! The second I smelled this it reminded me of something. Came here and saw your comment. That’s it! I happen to own a decant of psychedelic love and I can’t tell the difference, except that Valentina projects way more and lasts much longer on my skin.

If you can find this, it’s worth having if you love vanilla but want something a little different. In the opening it reminds me of an old abandoned church (the myrrh) but the dry down is the PERFECT amount of spicy & smokey vanilla goodness. This fits the soft goth aesthetic.

CONFESSION BOOTH VANILLA Or, church vanilla, but "confession booth vanilla" is catchier. Only the Catholics, good or bad, will get it. Major scent memory chills with this one. I will treasure Myrrh Assoluto. PS, I think the grey bottle color is perfectly suited to the scent.

This is literally my favorite fragrance ever around Xmas time! Its just beautiful!!! I don't even know how to describe it.. smooth, deep sultry vanilla myrrh that encompasses my heart and soul during xmas and winter .. There is no spice or alcohol here .. so smooooooth <3

I just found a few bottles of this perfume and I'm so glad I blind purchased them! At first it's very strong but after it sits , its so warm and rich and such a unique perfume to add to my collection. I'm possibly open to selling my extra unopened bottles if interested.

Finally found one bottle for less than $200 this fragrance is vanilla and myrrh in a bottle it doesn't smell cheap or like anything I ever smelled before and has a very calming effect on me if I will stumble upon more of those I would definitely buy more

Heaven in a bottle. Smooth and dreamy. You gotta have a thing for deep/rich perfumes to truly enjoy this, I think. I didn’t know it was discontinued! Agreed with the comment below, this could easily be a niche perfume. Such quality for the price tag.

I finally sound a bottle and it was so worth the wait. Beautiful and unique. The sprayer is so shitty though? It sprays in every direction but forward and instead of a fine mist it’s like a water hose. Strange.

Designer fragrance with an outstanding niche quality. Super sexy, alluring, dark and just gorgeous scent. Reminds me a bit of Black Orchid mixed with Ralph Lauren pour femme intense. Masterpiece !!!

Gorgeous fragrance, near identical to psychedelic love the only difference is the base is slightly deeper, richer and smokier. This to smells more niche than initio and less linear.

I love this ! This is my first experience with myyrh. It’s warm and buttery vanilla heavy . Such a gorgeous scent I can’t wait to pull this baby out in the fall 🍁.
