Valentino Uomo 2021

Important! This is not the original 2014 formulation. It's an entirely different fragrance. The first thing I can say about this fragrance is just: wow! It's not too sweet, not too spicy, not too strong, lasts a pretty long time. It's everything that I like in a fall/winter fragrance. Despite having so few fragrances, Valentino really are great at standing out as one of the best. It's manly, confident and sexy. You could wear it as a woman, no doubt, but I wouldn't recommend it to the average girl. On my skin it lasts about 7 hours with moderate projection. I prefer not filling up a whole room with my scent, so for me the projection is just right. Sometimes you can find this bottle for around 50-60 dollars. But I'd pay 100+ dollars without any problem. The bottle design on the 2021 reformulation is also an upgrade to the 2014 formulation, with less contrasting colors and a more luxury look. You could wear this fragrance to work, while clubbing or on a date night. The only time I wouldn't wear this is in hot weather, or to the gym. It's not really made for that situation, and may give you a headache. The smell feels very high quality, with a very fine iris note, some spiciness and a bit of sweetness. It's fresh and sweet in a finely constructed way. If you would tell someone there is a little vanilla in it, they would believe you, because it has that smoothness in it, without actually having a vanilla note (at least according to the note breakdown) Overall this is a great fragrance and I'm surprised there haven't been more reviews on here about this fragrance. That can also be a positive, as I haven't really smelled anything like it that I can remember. If you do end up trying it out, don't expect anything similar to the original Uomo from 2014, as this has been completely re-formulated.

Semi-blind bought, was on my skin for about an hour before making the decision to buy, which I'm very happy with. The first 10 minutes smells like cough syrup - maybe something's wrong with my batch. But once you get past that the fragrance is beautiful. Sweet citrus that develops into a comforting, powdery iris backed by the warm and wonderful combination of cardamom and pepper. Leans towards the classier and more 'elegant' side, but not too rich or deep, which makes it fairly versatile. Smells like it'd work really well in a semi-casual setting, but you could also dress it up or down easily. In terms of season, it would likely work best in fall, with winter and spring close behind. Maybe not so suitable for those blazing hot summer days but it could work on cooler evenings, or in an air-conditioned environment like an office or a school event. Performance-wise, it projects well enough for someone you're in a conversation with to catch it. Sillage is moderate but again not super strong. Noticeable but not overwhelming, which I like. Yet to thoroughly test the longevity, seems pretty decent so far as I could smell it after a night's rest though I had to get my nose quite close to my skin. Don't have enough experience with other iris scents like VUI or DHI to make any comparisons, but this seems like a wonderful application of the note. Loving it so far. 8.5/10

Although I would have preferred this to come out as a flanker rather than replacing the 2014 Uomo, I can't deny this is a wonderful fragrance. I actually ordered the original 2014 formula, at least according to the websites (and I tried 2 different reputable stores), but alas they both sent me this adaption. I enjoyed it so much I had to keep it. The most prominent notes on my skin are iris and cardamom with a evident lemon backing. It is refreshing, slightly powdery and delicious. The dry down is phenomenal with the citrus pulling back and the Iris becoming more prominen, but is by no means a vintage iris or one that is too in your face as it is nicely balanced by the pepper and cardamom. The longevity is amazing, 6 sprays and I can still smell it without digging nose into my skin and clothes 18 hours later! Decent projection I would day under 3 feet overall but maybe 3 feet for the first 2-3 hours, still projecting within arms length 18 hours after initial spray. I am a fan of Valentino across the board, and I think that this fragrance is definitely a solid top 5. Very elegant, very attractive.

This is very underrated perfume. Is state as a male perfume but to me is unisex. Not specific strong masculine was detected or people had those first impression of male perfume. Very woody cozy warm aromatic fresh powdery scent, the right amount of flowery sweetness and is classy and elegant. ELEGANT is the way to descript Valentino Uomo EDT. You can easy wear for sleep, office, outdoor because is EDT, not too strong and not much attention. The projection is moderate. What I love the most, when I was walking the air breeze blending with this scent make me calm and bring out the positive mood. I was attract with that atmosphere and scent and I feel so good. Should wear more to office to distract the negative energy, LOL. Is masterpiece to me. I think this will be my top3 for now. I am a women, I would recommend this to anyone but at the same times, I do not want anyone to have this perfume as I do.

This stuff is lovely, super classy and super versatile. I smelled (and flipped out!) for the Intense version before this one, so the regular Uomo one just struck me as a lighter version of the Intense, and that’s exactly what it is. Perfect for the office and any professional scenarios but versatile enough for formal events and dates. The vibe is similar to something like Prada L’Homme. Very easy to wear iris right here. The core DNA in all Valentino frags definitely lingers in the background. Overall this is a pretty light scent and sits close to the skin, but gives off a pleasant scent bubble with subtle wafts, nothing in your face here. It’s a more mature scent, I would say at least mid-20’s and up. This deserves more attention and it’s definitely worth having in any collection as an easy dumb reach for when you want to “class it up” a bit and not have to think about it.

I have both this version and the Polge version and they are quite different but man this has to be my favourite fragrance of all time. This thing is my baby, my signature and my biggest compliment getter. I almost don’t wanna write this review because I don’t wanna be the reason why someone else out there gets put on to this sleeper but I also want everyone to smell this stuff because it’s gorgeous. Actually funny enough, layering this with the Polge version creates something magical. Shh I’ve already said far too much. But on a serious note the blend that’s presented here is to die for and extremely sophisticated. The opening to my nose is a lemony citrus smell that’s quite a bit stronger than the OG. That only lasts for about 10 minutes and the drydown becomes this gorgeous iris and kinda soft vanilla scent with this prominent cardamom. It’s a one of a kind

This is the one. The last bottle I bought was the coffee one, which is gourmand style and not the one I wanted. Honestly, I thought I was getting this one, until I realized that there are two different ones in similar bottles that are entirely different fragrances. The 2014 doesn't resemble this one at all. This is Uomo intense, but toned down just a touch. This is a slightly fresher take on the intense, and slightly more versatile. Closest fragrance I've smelled to this is Dior homme original, but I think this has better performance. This is the iris version and it is awesome. I love iris, so I have been looking for this one which is officially discontinued as per the Valentino website. Definitely glad to have found it (at a fragrance store in a mall, no less) and for a very reasonable price. Fantastic addition to the collection!

I really really like this. I’m kind of on the fence about the very initial part of the opening. I agree with the people describing a sort of cough-syrupy, cloying scent. However, this quickly disappears into a really nice mature fragrance. A nice well rounded citrus opening, given body by the bergamot. This is balanced out with a powdery iris and beautiful spicy and peppery notes that develop throughout the day. For those that like DHI and VUI this is a goer for a daily driver, or in environments where you need something a bit more tactful. VU 2021 delivers such a well balanced smell, with brilliant cold weather performance. Suitable for semi-casual to formal events. Wore this a lot at a conference recently, which was kind of the perfect environment in the end.

I remain a staunch devotee of Valentino Uomo (2014)— which is deemed a benchmark for iris with depth and character. The 2021 studded collar release refined that DNA without stripping it—leaner, more iris and citrus-driven, lifted by bergamot, and far more versatile. A rare case of modernization done right. And yet, the entire line is now gone: •Uomo (2014 & 2021) — discontinued •Uomo Intense (2016 & 2021) — discontinued •Uomo Acqua (2017) — discontinued And as replacement, we got the Born in Roma line which leans younger, brighter, and more trend-driven. I’ve owned several and wont buy the line again—I ended up passing them down to my sons (15, 17, 21), where that profile fits better. If you like this 2021 Uomo version, it will be gone for good soon. Backup!

I recently picked up a 100ml bottle of the 2021 edition of the Uomo line before they become extinct (06/2026). • This is my 4th bottle of Valentino in ~20 years (V, Uomo (2014), BIR Intense, and now this one). • Once again, Valentino punches well above its weight (and many other designers) in terms of price-to-value. • IMHO, the juice is as gorgeous as the bottle. Fresh, airy, and slightly spicy iris; this is a very well-done EDT. • It's very versatile, although not as "office safe" as Prada L'Homme (this one is even more "clean" and "airy"). • Not as "heavy" or "cold-oriented" as the Uomo Intense version. • It also exhibits very little redundancy with Armani Code EDP or Givenchy Gentleman. • Get it before it's gone for good!

Cardamom is a very polarizing note for me. I find it repulsive in Mr. Burberry edp but really enjoy it in la nuit dlomme. Luckily the cardamom in here is along the lines of the ysl. On the surface this is very similar to the Valentino uomo intense (2021). The iris is identical. This is slightly fresher off the top but the dry is where they part ways. The intense gets richer and darker, this one gets spicier and lighter. Both are fantastic in performance and aroma. Both would be considered by many to be sexy. This one is a more versatile daily driver scent. Intense should be reserved for dates or night wear imo. But who asked me?

Same creamy iris as in Valentino uomo intense, but with a bright and beautiful lemon note in the opening. And to my nose it's distinctly lemon, not just generic citrus or lemon cleaner. The vetiver is light and clean, but definitely present. I LOVE VUI, and I've only worn this one a few times now, but it's already a favorite. I wear VUI on dates, and usually in the fall and winter. This is good in the daytime, and feels wearable nearly year-round, except maybe in the high heat of summer. Of course, I'd still love to track down the older version, but I snagged a tester of this for under $60, and feel like I pulled off a heist

Absolutly underrated. Good Price Point and Strong longevity. A sweet, fresh citrus blend opening with some light floral notes, that after time becomes a strong, warm-spicy, sexy and masculine Iris, black pepper and caradmom scent. I think this is a great Alternative for dior Homme intense for a not as high Designer price point. Unfortunately the silage is one of the only downsites of this but can easily be fixed by just overspraying LOL. Perfect for Dates and a good Winter/Fall scent that can easily be worn in spring also. 9/10, very underrated.

Such a refined feeling when I wear this one. I certainly prefer this to the original edition. Opens with light citrus that quickly fades into smooth iris with a warm spicy cardamom undertone. A more versatile take on Uomo Intense. Right now I'm more than happy for people to stay sleeping on this one. Reasonably priced and versatile enough to be worn in every season except summer. Best suited for the office or more intimate occasions due to the the projection being on the lighter side. Overall, this is one I'd consider to be 9.5 out of 10.

I have both this and the intense version - I love them both and they serve such different purposes. Valentino Uomo goes on with such a warm Iris and spiciness - the opening notes are addictive. The cardamom settles in the first hour and gives way to a smooth Iris and subtle spice. Its not overly sweet like many of the more modern fragrances out there. I wear this to the office or day to day, and keep the intense for nighttime wear and more formal occasions.

Agree with the review below, this stuff is super versatile, more for the day than night imo, as it's quite light and airy compared to other Iris fragrances, but I actually prefer this to Uomo Intense as it doesn't have the leather which I find ruins the scent. Dry down is heavenly, performance is great for an EDT (I get 8hours+ on skin). Overall, smells similar to code Parfum, so if you like that, you'll probably love this stuff. 9.5/10

Under hyped imo. I hear it’s being discontinued.. which is a shame. This is one of the classiest designer fragrances around. Much more handsome than the burn your nose off synthetic sugary overdose born in Roma line (and many of the other popular releases these past few years that smell very similar). Maybe iris scents are played out and becoming old fashioned now, like the aquatic and before that barbershop frags. I wonder what’s next

This fragrance is a winner! It's not trying too hard - just a cool, confident, understated scent that works whether you're wearing it to the office or going out at night. An easy signature. A great mix of crisp and warm notes that hangs around for a solid few hours without being that guy who walks into a room and takes over. Beautiful job by Valentino on this release! Stock up before they are gone. 5/5

Such a worthy signature scent. This goes a long way in being different from the original formula but still very pleasing, easy to wear, and still not something anyone around will be wearing. Love the formulation, but wish it had a bit more performance for the price. Got it for some $72 for 100ml, but still the price was well worth it. EDIT: EXTREME redundant with Narciso Rodrigues Bleu Noir Parfum!

The Iris scent mixed with cardamom gives a powdery, colhocolaty, luxury vibe and calmness. You feel chocolatey, though it doesn't say. It tends to be a formal scent, but you can wear it as an after shower. It smells amazing on my skin.I wore it today for work, it's a hot summer morning, I love it. It is one of my favourite. Regarding the price, I think it's an aportunity.

Brilliant creation. It is creamy, nutty, floral (iris) and warm crisp spicy of mainly cardamom. The crispiness is mostly prominent when closeup smelling, while it creates a wonderful creamy floral scentcloud in the surrounding air. It stands on the shoulders of other more bold seducing male fragrances, but that is no shame when the result is this amazing.

The opening is sexxxxy AF. Period. This drydown is sexxxxy AF. Period. The presentation is sexxxxy AF. Period. And this is so easy to wear, Not cloying and headache inducing. Super likeable but still has some edge to it. I wear this anytime, anywhere, any place any occassion; but o think this makes a nice cuddle fragrance.

I don't even know how to describe this one. Very subtle, and it seems like you go noseblind to it quick. I feel like its come off of me in 30mins, then my girlfriend will notice it 4h later. The scent is phenomenal, I can only describe it as attractive. Honestly a great buy for fancy evening occasions.

SO GOOD. I tested all the valentinos (including born in roma series) at a store, this clearly stood out to me because of the iris note. I get around 6-8 hours with this and people have complimented me sitting from more than arms length. Great performance and smell for the value, 9/10.

@sniff69 Yes I am sure I reviewed this newer version. I know that no nuts are listed here in the note breakdown, but I still get a nutty vibe from it. It would be boring if we just refraise the note breakdown and did not declare what vibe or associations the fragrances give us.

The bottle is a work of art, even better than the original 2014 bottle. To me, this is the 2014 version but toned down on the sweetness with added iris. It is amazing and versatile and I think every collection needs a nice iris fragrance. This should be that fragrance.

Very similar to Dior homme intense, basically just a cheaper version that has similar smell. I did want the gourmand 2014 but this one is a pleasant surprise. Very classy and mature, gives a sweet and warm iris that settles down into one of my favorites

Don't know why this doesn't get as much attention as the born in Roma's. I get it's not the most complicated but it's still a really nice fragrance, easy wear day or night and I would say any season too. Glad I bought it.

A beautiful combination of citrus and iris. Feels to me like a summer/spring fragrance to be honest. It really is a lighter version of the Uomo Intense 2021. Sophisticated, classy, and alluring. I love this.

For me personally Im in love with this fragrance. Though on my skin it does not last or project as well as others the powderiness of the dry down gets me every time and has me shoving my nose into my wrist.

My favorite iris forward perfume. That's it! Masterpiece - would be perfect if it had a better performance, but it is an EDT and works as expected. For the price and quality delivered, it's an 11/10.

Note breakdown doesn't seem right. Anyway this stuff is legit. Sexy versitile gourmand and a compliment beast. Performance on this is good, solid projection and longevity, about 7 hours.

i get a mix of dior homme and pdm pegasus. such a great scent. idk how this isn’t talked abt more, wish it lasted longer. this has easily found its way into my top 5.

Honestly really love this fragrance. Its a really classy, versatile underrated fragrance. It is better at the colder weather but it still works in the hot weather.

This is sexy. Reminds me of givenchy gentleman reserve but toned down. Which is good because it makes it more versatile. Longevity is good on my skin.

Warm spicy masculine iris. This is unique! Ordering this ASAP.

This is a very nice value for money proposition for all who love the note of iris. The scent itself is high quality and the presentation is nice, also (I’m not a fan of the whole spiked bottle thing, but it is finished to a nice degree). Coming to the scent, as you would expect, it is dominated by the note of iris right from the get go. The bergamot in the opening and vetiver aspects in the opening and dry down keep the iris from becoming too dense throughout the life of the fragrance, so it is quite wearable in almost all occasions. Think of it as the dumb reach iris fragrance. The scent is well composed and the cardamom in the base gives it a nice underlying warmth, almost chocolaty vibe. Sometimes in the heat, I get something almost plastic-y, but it’s never too much. It is very much akin to the now discontinued ‘Dior Homme’, now known as ‘Dior Homme Original’ and also reminds me of DHI, Prada L’homme EDT and Narciso Rodriguez’s ‘Bleu Noir Parfum’. It lacks the depth of the DH lineup and feels like an airyer DH, but that makes it simpler and easier to pull off. The problem I have with this scent is its longevity - it lasts for about 5 hours on skin, and projects for only about an hour and half. Considering the notes, I feel like scent should’ve lasted at least 6.5 hours, but oh well. For reference, my bottle carries the batch number 38W600M.

Valentino Uomo (2014) vs Valentino Uomo (2021) The website showed the 2014 version (black cap), but I received a bottle with a gold-colored cap. That’s how I ended up on this page. I believe the original 2014 version is truly discontinued. However, many websites still use old photos and deliver this newer version instead, which is a completely different fragrance. The initial sprays had a strongly medicinal scent, reminiscent of Davidoff Zino and Calvin Klein Amber Essence. (Update: After few initial sprays, it changed and now works true to its ingredients!) Highly disappointed, as I ordered this specifically for the coffee and nutty notes present in the original 2014 version. Update: After initial concentrated gas is out, now it is showing its true smell. It's a pretty complex scent, with lots of iris + citrus + ... burst initially. Then complex combo of fragrance which lingers for longer time. I love it.

A quick flash of citrusy brightness fades into a slightly powdery and floral iris note accompanied with earthy vetiver. The vetiver prevents this from becoming too powdery or feminine. Cardamom and black pepper in the base lend a spicy quality to the powderiness and really rounds the fragrance out nicely. As always, it has that signature Valentino sweetness resonating through its life. I love iris as a note and sometimes it can come off like a makeup bag. The spice and vetiver in Uomo prevent that. Really great stuff, I don't think anyone could find this fragrance to be offensive. It has a charming, powdery, earthy quality to it along with the general masculine spiciness. I think this is incredibly versatile and could be worn in almost any situation. This is a solid choice for an every day dumb reach fragrance.

I was looking for the original last year when I asked to try this in store. Not what I expected, but I really liked it and went ahead and bought a bottle. Only found out this was the 2021 version later on. Still, I quite like it. Definitely sweet for men's fragrance, which I have no problem with, but this could easily be marketed unisex. The iris and, to a lesser extent, cardamom notes are what I mainly pick up here, and even at first spray I only get the bergamot and lemon if I'm trying to pick those notes out. It has a gourmand feel despite the iris being so pronounced. Also, the bottle looks really cool. Sad to hear that it's been discontinued apparently. Give it a try if you get the chance!

This is a mainstream iris dominant DHI type scent. Not as artsy or as dressed up but same vibe. The iris in Uomo is more buttery and smooth and less dusty. Not quite as complex or as deep as DHI. This flies under the hype radar a little because the intense version is much more popular and Uomo has been drastically changed years ago from a gourmand to this current creation that kept same name. The leather in the intense is not my gig so got this on a whim and have to say I really like it the more I wear it. Very upscale and elegant with massive versatility for almost any occasion or season. Performance is moderate. 7.5/10 for me

Pretty good one. The 2014 is better. Really good opening of citrus and floral. Nice waxy iris stars. It starts to settle with some buttery tones. Like just a hint of sweet nutty brown butter infused fluffy musk. Most will probably think powdery but it's musky to me. The violet smell in the iris is a very nice touch. It's pop fantasy iris with its own unique twist. It's not hard to wear. I get good performance with moderate sprays and don't go nose blind to it. Better performance than the 2014. 8/10 over-all. More like prada than dior to my nose.

I didn't like this when I first bought it but it has grown on me and this will be great for the fall 🍁 2025. Iris forward bergamot slightly powdery and waxy fragrance that smells decent and longevity is good on skin and clothing and I really love the bottle and the color of the juice. I'm happy to have this in my collection because I love iris fragrances because they just smell classy and elegant to my nose so I rate this fragrance a 8.5 out of 10 for me.

This stuff smells awesome, this is one of those that imo dont smell too special on skin but is significantly better in the air. the iris in here is so comforting. dont know why youtubers arent covering this new version, or gaslighting themselves that it smells the same.. smells completely different from the OG. @PaulSell haha i confused myself too, i didnt even know there was a reformulation and when i sprayed my bottle i was beyond lost

Always kept a bottle of this stuff on the shelf since it's first came out and I barely noticed the reformulation. It's never been the strongest performer but its always been a pleasant well priced scent. Its a warm airy, iris scent, think it maybe used to be a little denser but as i daid, i dont think the reformuation was too big a change. It's easy to wear at most times and I tend to get a fair few compliments on it. Easy pick.
