Valentino Uomo Acqua

Immediately, when first sprayed, I get the reason this is a flanker to the original 2014 release of Valentino Uomo. The parent DNA is there from the start, Iris. I am not one that enjoys the note of iris, especially the standard lipstick, makeup vibe. To me this note leans much to feminine for my personal taste, although many men don't mind it. The iris in Valentino Uomo Acqua does NOT remind me of lipstick, but of class. I must admit that I seriously doubted whether this scent DNA could actually come across as fresh while leaving in the notes of iris, green tomatoes, patchouli, and even leather. A summer scent with these notes? Miracle! They have done it and created a fresh scent for warm weather! And it's good! Here's how it performs on me... *Opening (Big dose of iris and a smidgen of freshness) *After 10-15 mins. (Fresh mandarin, lightly sweet comes on) The orange mandarin in this is just gorgeous and fresh to me!!! *Final dry down. (Light iris with just a touch of leather) Longevity: 4 hours then nothing Projection: soft. Not even an arms length Occasions: Office, white t-shit, business casual to formal Seasons: Spring and Summer Final verdict. 8/10 Bottle worthy but selective occasions

As someone who considers iris their favorite note, I can say without hesitation that this is one of the finest fresh-iris compositions I’ve ever experienced. I’d describe it as a slightly fresher, warm-weather take on the original 2014 Uomo — which I believe was/is criminally underrated. The citrusy brightness and unique green tomato leaf accord give it a breezy, Mediterranean charm, while the iris grounds it in quiet sophistication. Performance isn’t a strong point — I get around 5 hours of wear, with about 2 hours of moderate projection before it fades into a close skin scent. But when something smells this good, I’m willing to overlook its fleeting nature. It’s not designed to shout — it’s meant to draw someone in. I sincerely wish Valentino would retire the Born in Roma line and return to the restraint and class of the original Uomo series. That line had a clear identity — understated luxury, modern masculinity, and thoughtful composition — qualities increasingly rare in today’s designer offerings. If you come across a bottle, don’t hesitate. This is understated beauty in a world that too often confuses loudness with quality.

I'll say this. IMO I feel this has one of the best citric openings I have ever smelled. I get a juicy and zesty mandarin orange with some green notes (which I am assuming is the tomato leaf). The sage starts to kick in shortly after the initial blast(but it's not strong). On me the mandarin starts to die down around the 1 hr mark for me. I wish it carried over longer. Boss Projection is about 1-2 hrs and then it moderate/bubble is smaller. I would say it becomes a skin scent 3-5 hrs after application. Heat or using lotion/Vaseline will get it to stretch close to the 5 hr mark. To me this feels closer to uomo intense rather than the original uomo and of course that's due to the iris. Man I think the iris is too much on the dry down. I would like if it would have dried down into maybe a sweet leathery green base instead of having iris in it..Maybe just having iris in the mid?. Maybe a musky or woody sweet green base?. try something different ya know. It's a really good fragrance. It just has a amazing opening and meh dry down + so-so performance.

Got this very cheaply at a store in my city. 75ml for less then 40 USD. That is a bargain here in Sweden. The price was even cheaper then the net shops. I thought it must be the aftershave version but it was the EDT so I grabbed it at once and it will fit me beautifully on my vacation month in the tropics. It smells like a softer version of the original. My feeling was that it was more "herby" in the start then the original (might have been the tomato note) but it was nothing wrong with that. It gave the scent a bit more maturity and since I am pushing 50 its nice to have a scent that smells like a man with a bit of life experience. I find this version much easier to wear than the original. I tried it on me when I got home and now 5 hours later it still smells great and give off whiffs of pleasure. I got headache from the original but have not felt any symptoms of headache from this which is great. Very happy with this purchase and look forward to see how it performs in the moist heat. Hopefully it will not attract mosquitoes. :-/

Let's get back to real perfume reviewing. Nature has its own way of weeding out bad reviews ;) I just tried this today at the counter. Pretty sure it's the aqua version since the sprayer has a silver neck and the bottle is grey instead of dark grey. This scent is fabulous! True that we are seeing (probably) too many men's releases that are powder puffs but even so, I cannot dismiss how good this one smells! Uomo Acqua is fresh, very iris-forward with a hint of leather. It does not have the sweetness from vanilla like the Dior series or even the original Uomo. Compared to Prada's Le Homme it wins by having that herbal nuance from the tomato leaves, sage and patchouli. If my boyfriend is more interested in iris perfumes this will be the first thing I get him. Not Dior. Not Prada. Not Ermenegildo Zegna. This. Heck I might even get myself a bottle. Great stuff!!

Such a nice twist on the original. Right off the bat, you get this fresh mandarin hit with some greenish notes, and a very light tomato, which is very nice and it works well in the heat. Fresh, slightly sweet but still has a bit class to it so it could work in more dressed up situations in the warm weather. My only nit is the dry down - it’s fine, but I don’t love the leather and wish it went more in a woody or smooth direction - then it would be perfect. But bottom line: a true hidden gem! Pick it up if you can still find it. 4/5 Edit: The weather is finally warm enough to wear this consistently, and I’m reminded what a fresh, sophisticated, and subtly alluring summer gem this is. Such a shame this is no longer in production - I would really love to see Valentino bring back the Uomo line!

I don't know why this gets so much hate. This is only a first impression but I was impressed on first spray. I get the iris but also with an accompanying freshness. Its soft and smells very refined for a freshie. For a fresh iris scent this is pretty damn good. Not sure why people compare a fragrance meant for the dead of winter with a summer version flanker. Kind of silly to me. Performance I don't know yet. Everyone is saying it's terrible. Maybe that is why it scored so poorly. Scent first impressions/opening 4.5/5 Performance - not tested but seems to be dying down on the test strip pretty fast.. Might be a below average performance.

I bought one from a supplier in Thailand, it was a tester and when I received it unused it was dated 2018. And My word is this amazing. I've always loved Valentino Uomo and this is a fresher brighter version, it's absolutely amazing and up there with the metal rod Dior pour homme with the iris but with the fresh citrus opening. I've never smelled tomato leaf in perfumes before and it's very authentic albeit some may not enjoy it, the tomato leaf note doesn't last long though, maybe an hour and then you've just got the iris left. A solid 8/10

This fragrance is so addicting!!! My girlfriend loved it on me and a few hours later her father gave me a compliment. This one is definitely back up bottle worthy. The iris and the tomato leaf makes this composition very unique from any other summer fragrance out there. The performance and longevity are not even bad as everyone says it is. If someone says it doesn't even last 15 minutes don't listen to the them. Overall great scent! This one is discontinued and you best believe Im going to get back up bottle scent: 6.5/10

Everyone thinking of getting this cologne needs to be reminded that it has extremely poor longevity. Like shockingly bad. But I guess thats why they sell it in a 4.2 oz, unlike the others in the line that are 3.4. But that still does not help much. I love the Uomo line but this one is an easy pass because of the longevity...dont get be wrong it smells nice, but for this price you would expect to get above 2 hours, but I dont. Its a skin scent in about 45 minutes. So glad I only bought a tester.

Following on from my brief review - I think those that enjoy Prada L'Homme may enjoy this one. Prada L'Homme is undoubtedly soapier and slightly sweeter than Acqua - Acqua takes that DNA and makes it greener with the addition of tomato leaf. This is a very elegant, fresh and clean fragrance - I think it's a great alternative to Prada L'Homme and I feel the addition of tomato leaf makes it a unique choice. I'm actually surprised there isn't much hype around this one.

This is great fragrance imo....it's definitely not typical "Aqua" frangrance. I've been wearing today at work, it's about 24 celcius out today and I find it performs well. Getting Abit of a blue de channel scent off every once in awhile. But overall I am very happy with this one, performance is not an issue as I just decant some into Automizer and freshen up when feel it fading. Get 25 5ml decant automizers on Amazon for under $15 (cad)...

This one is great. It is very light, fresh, and airy. It's powdery but not just the powder type, it's somehow simpler, so I'm thinking it's the sage. Might not last all day, but I'm fine with that because it allows me to switch to another frag late in the day. Vibes: clean, uncomplicated, soothing Visualization: a nice and warm, calm and breezy day Versatility: Warmer weather.

To me this one starts of with a strong blast of mandarin and a tomato leaf and i can smell some iris in the background. I do like it and think it deserves a spot in the uomo line, but still the original and the intense one is my favorite if i had to choose one due to the rather poor longevity and projection this one has.

Smells great. Definitely not the best performer but a few extra sprays and that changes. I wore it ti work and it lasted about 8 hours which is good to me. It became a skin scent about the 3rd hour in but I still got whiffs of it throughout the day. Smells very clean and fresh. Love it

Had this one a couple of years ago, still one of my all time favourites! I was so sad when they discontinued this fragrance. The combination of freshness, iris and leather smells quite good on my skin and I loved its versatility. Hopefully, Valentino will bring it back in the future.

I like this. A fresher, lighter, non chocolatey/nutty version of the Valentino Uomo. Easy to wear during high heat. Still have the dominant iris note and the general uomo vibe, but not cloying. If you like the original but find it too heavy at times, this one is good.

Never had a chance to snag this one until now and wow , just another win for Valentino. Love the lighter iris note, but for a fresh scent it's really got alot of depth to it. That drydown is damn good, but so is the opening and mid...definitely a new favorite .

I love this, it had become my signature sent ever since i got it. Its a nice fresh sent with a hint of iris. to me it comes of as a casual nice sent for the summer and spring time. it projects nicely and isn't in everyone's face. 9/10

I miss this SO much. Let's not bullshit though, this stuff lasted about 90 minutes before it disappeared. But that 90 minutes? The best and freshest hour and a half you'd ever experience in your life. BRING IT BACK 😩 K Bye.

Just like others have said, this smells great but does NOT last long at all. Such a shame. Get the regular Uomo or Intense, both are great. I can see why they discontinued this. 3/10 Smells great but gone within minutes

Definitely a fresh clean great smelling fragrance. I moisturize after showering so I think that is my saving grace because I still get faint whiffs even after 5 hours. Perfect summer scent. Wife loved it!!

Nice citrusy/green opening which dries down to a faint leather and iris Uomo DNA. Pleasant, casual, inoffensive but the performance is not the shiniest.

This has returned to discounters and you can pick it up. Great inoffensive office scent, no one will say you smell bad wearing this.

Such a gorgeous fragrance. Yeah it's soft, but just reapply if it becomes to close to the skin. Love this one.

I did think this was a good fragrance but unfortunately this type of smell has been done before and the scents that it was trying to replicate I actually prefer. Before I compare to what it smells like I’ll describe it on its own. This is a fresh,but also semi sweet and powdery scent that also has a bit of creaminess. The scents that this reminds me of slightly is Dior Homme Eau as it has that iris note making it smooth and fresh but it more so resembles a Bleu De Chanel if you that incense note with Iris ! I prefer Dior Homme Eau and Bleu De Chanel over this so after I use my sample I won’t be purchasing a bottle. However, I do think it’s a good scent and I can see there being an audience for this. Performance— People were complaining that this didn’t perform but it lasted 4-6 hours on my skin with only average projection. Mainly I just had a decent scent bubble for the entire scent life. Overall rating—6.75 out of 10! Decent scent in the opening and heart but it kind of falls flat in the drydown

I wore a sample from Nordstroms before deciding to buy a full bottle. I really like this fragrance. I already own Valentino Uomo and Valentino Uomo Intense and like them both. Being a big fan of the iris note, I had to check out the Acqua version of this scent, and really enjoy the fresh opening with a lighter version of the original DNA. I will admit - longevity and projection is not great. To be more blunt, if you think Dolce and Gabbana's The One EDT doesn't last...I think this lasts even less. I bought this fragrance because I love the scent and can carry a glass rollerball decant around whenever I wear it. It smells elegant, beautiful with the leather and iris base and mandarin orange off the top. Having said that...dont' be shocked if 4 hours is all you will get with this beautiful scent. If any of you have ever used 'Canvas' from Lucky Scent, this fragrance is a candidate using that fragrance extender. I am going to start using it with Valentino Acqua!

I’m a fan of Valentino Uomo so I was excited to try the Acqua sampler but I’m a bit disappointed! I love tomato leaf but I don’t smell it or the orange or patchouli for that matter. The opening is definitely green and spicy but it feels very generic to me. Something about this reminds me of shopping in the mall in New Jersey in 2005. When it settles I’m left with the iris base which feels like standard Uomo but much softer. I was hoping I would love this but I think I’ll stick with the spicer and warmer Uomo standard. -ED1T Decided to try this again in February and i now think this is decent, if there was some spicier element and it projected better, as 'StrongWoods' said [above] - an EDP version might be amazing. This time i get the spicier tomato leaf & sage, it just needs more of a punch. i do really adore that iris dry-down!!

This may sound surprising...but out of the three Valentino Uomo fragrances (Uomo, Uomo Intense, and this one), I think I like Valentino Uomo Acqua the most. I like the entire Valentino Uomo line, but in many ways, I would rather wear Dior Homme than Valentino Uomo, and Dior Homme Intense more than Valentino Uomo Intense. Having said that, there is something so fresh and elegant about Acqua, that it KILLS me that this fragrance's longevity and projection is weak. My only solution has been to decant Acqua into smaller decant bottles and then blend it with about 30% Molecule 01 to boost the power of Acqua. The only other solution is to wear this fragrance on warm days where the heat will help fragrances like this project a bit more. This fragrance will die in cold/cool weather!

A nice burst of citrus gives some initial sweetness which is then mellowed out with the tomato leaf. Underneath, the powdery/lipstick accord is hiding away along with leather and both intensify as the fragrance dries down. Unfortunately, there is little to no projection and it sits very close to the skin. In addition, the fragrance suffers from poor performance and is a skin scent within an hour on my skin. I could see myself wearing this a lot more if the projection and longevity was improved. Overall, a nice, fresh and inoffensive fragrance which could benefit from better projection and longevity. Ratings Sillage: 5/10 Longevity: 4.8/10 Scent: 7.8/10

I love Valentino Uomo...and i wanted to love this one too,but it is only a like from me! I blind bought this due to the reviews...everybody say it is a fresher version of uomo, but my nose says not at all....the tomato leaf is very proeminent in the opening and also something sweet, a little weird....and the drydown it is almost the same like Uomo,a little bit sweeter....but more lipsticky, a different iris smell! I do not hate it, nor love it...just added to my collection! I can not see someone wearing this in summer....still sweet and lipsticky like Uomo, but not the same! It is a 7,5/10 from me....and i wanted love this!

I tried this twice through a Microperfumes decant and liked it a lot. The most prominent note for me was the "fantasy iris" powdery floral aroma. Relaxing, breezy, and sweet without being cloying or heavy. Also noticed the patchouli to a degree, but I didn't detect green tomato or leather. The image I got was of spending the day on a purple and white luxury cruise liner being plied with champagne and candy. Projection started off moderate but lightened in less than an hour. I would consider this unisex and probably for any age, 20s and up. If you enjoy violet-like fantasy iris, I would absolutely recommend this.

I have worn it a lot in the last week, this fragrance it is very pleasing and a compliment getter , no one complained about the smell of this fragrance, almost all the people that I asked about this fragrance said it is smells really nice. The tomato note it is much dominant than iris note. On clothes it last for days but on my skin I get 4-5 hours max with 1 hour moderate projection. In my opinion this fragrance fits much better for spring or autumn, the performance on the summer heat it is not good, especially if you live in a country where the temperature during the summer it is above 30 degrees Celsius.

Wow, this juice is amazing! So smooth, mellow and sexy! Guys, this WILL turn heads and for the right reasons! I smell a fantastic iris/leather combination right off the top that comes across as cool and confident without being overpowering and the dry down is mature without smelling 'old' or dated. I swear if this didn't have sage (which gives it that aromatic masculine edge to my nose) I would be rocking this fragrance myself! Amazing how I love the leather in this, but can't stand it in Valentino Donna where it made me smell like a leatherbound whip-wielding dominatrix LOL.

I love Iris fragrances...and this did not disappoint. The Iris and it’s powder freshness is the main player. Can never have enough of these as far as I’m concerned. The tomato leaf adds just enough to make this different than others. As it dried down, the Iris still is main player, but the patchouli and leather become noticeable, adding to my enjoyment of this, as I thoroughly enjoy these classic masculine notes. I was pleasantly surprised by this and so happy I followed my scent note profile. No doubt this will get heavy play in my Spring/Summer rotation.

I totally blind bought this. Looked at the notes and was intrigued. It is pretty much my first go round with iris, and you will get plenty of that. I remember seeing tomato as a note, thought how the hell is this going to turn out? Well it does. Go buy a bundle of tomatoes with the stem, smell the stem and you have Valentino Uomo Acqua. The scent is incredible. I would begin to say intoxicating. But right as you get enough, pooooof.. gone. Longevity is about 4 hours if you are lucky, but like a good first date you will cherish every second.

D-Bo - I don't give a crap if you believe me or not, all I wanted to say is that do not expect that fragrance to last , especially in the summer heat. Wait until this fragrance will be available in your country and you will convince yourself. It is already available at Sephora. The smell it is really nice, I liked very much Valentino Uomo Intense, but I am very disappointed of the acqua version performance. After 1 hour becomes a skin scent and after 4 hour it is completely gone.

I dont think its best for super high heat, but its great for spring early summer. I think the opening is super unique for a "freshie" with the non lipsticky iris giving a welcome elevation of the citrus notes. Where this falls flat for me is the performance and also the dry down. I feel like the dry down is where this frag becomes generic where it could have been a masterpiece in the freshie world. If they made an eau de parfum version of this it would absolutely slap.

This flanker's called "Acqua", but it doesn't have any marine/aquatic notes whatsoever. That being said, however, this is a pretty great scent; it opens with a transparent juicy orange burst, with hints of greenness from the tomato leaf. Moments later, the drydown reveals a cocoa accord to my nose (most likely a combination of the powderiness of iris and darkness of patchouli and leather). Effortlessly elegant. Performance seems to be lacking, however.

This is such a power fragrance. It's fresh but not entirely without a good dose of masculine power to balance it out. This Irish & Tomato Leaf? ( I think a tomato leaf note is new to me ) but I can kinda picture it now when smelling it. This is a boss man's fragrance for the spring or summer. The one thing is, it doesn't stay strong so maybe, it might be better in hotter weather since after a few hours, it becomes a skin scent. One to consider.

FINALLY! I had lost hope among the various Valentino Uomo. This differs completely from all the others, giving life to greener, fresh and classic hints. The tomato leaf is the touch of class between sage and iris. The best among his brothers. Valentino Uomo Acqua is a contemporary exploration of freshness and intensity. That aromatic freshness of an Italian garden. Recommended for spring and summer. Pure love!

Would probably be my favorite men's summer/ spring fragrance ever.... but performance is garbage. Everything is mixed well. Iris and violet aren't overpowering. Not overly powdery. Nice greens and yellows without smelling like 1982 or a Christmas tree. Not really for high heat but I think it is more night friendly than it's rating shows... especially since it's basically a skin scent 20 minutes in.

For some odd reasons the iris here is VERY lipsticky and waxy, more so than Valentino Uomo and get me very close to Dior Homme 2011. And I love it. Green leafy tomato is there just to mellow out / blend the iris note and not as a main player. The performance, as had been said a million times before, is not great. This vanish and become "skin trace" (i.e. less than skin scent) within 5 hours.

Smells really good. Definitely has the Uomo DNA coming through after the initial freshness in the top. Nothing to really write home about, I'll use it occasionally spring to early summer and early fall. Don't regret the blind buy but will not be buying a replacement when it's empty. Performance is not very good for me.

Lovely freshie; watery citrus with aromatic greens with a breezy iris as it dries down. The leather is soft and provides a nice contrast. Perfect for summer months, lasts around 4 hrs on my skin so it needs to be reapplied throughout the day, well under arms' length projection.
