Valentino Uomo Born in Roma Ivory is one of those fragrances that sneaks up on you in the most unexpected way. I’m sure anyone familiar with the Born in Roma line would expect the usual DNA, but here, I can tell you, this feels like stepping into another dimension: NICHE LEVEL. The bottle itself is stunning—almost sculptural. And yes, I’m convinced the juice inside really matches its ivory exterior. How to explain it? Well, I instantly thought of something from home: in the Dominican Republic we have a drink called “morir soñando” (dying dreaming). It’s orange, sugar, evaporated milk, ice... absolutely delicious and addictive. The way Ivory plays with the sour–milky–sweet triplet is otherworldly. It has this Dairy products vibe: creamy yogurts and chilled orange creamsicles (In a good way). What I love is how unisex it feels. On me, it leans warm and cozy, but I’m sure on someone else it could pull brighter, almost like a luxury summer cocktail. I had a few coworkers smell it and they were in shock—they even googled it right away, only to find it wasn’t yet available in stores. That tells you how instantly captivating it is. Now, about that “fire” note they advertise: don’t imagine a fireplace or bonfire. To my nose, it’s more like a soft smoky accent that keeps the citrus and cream from becoming cloying. It’s balanced, safe, but still interesting. Definitely a blind-buy safe option. Performance? Still testing. The atomizer itself is strong and smooth, delivering a beautiful cloud. But I’ll be honest: the cap doesn’t lock properly, and the opening has a slightly alcoholic accord before it smooths into its creamy magic. Adding it is Too PRICEY. All in all, another winner in the Valentino lineup. For me, this is not just a fragrance, it’s a little bottle of “morir soñando” —sweet, creamy, refreshing, and absolutely unforgettable. 🥇

Imagine this, you have a vase full of milk and you throw some lavender in it, you give it a stir, and you have a thick milky/lactonic lavender scent. Bergamot is there on the top once you spray it, but it slowly fades away only to give way to the milky lavender. . On my skin I don't get any fire or any smoke accord. I really love lactonic fragrances like Afternoon Delight from Maison Margiela etc. So I totally love this one. I wish it had a bit more projection, but I understand that milky scents cannot be aggressive and that they have a more "round" character. I would suggest to try it before buying since this one is not your average crowd pleasing perfume. The bottle is AMAZING! PS. Do not test on test strip, it's a whole different fragrance!

I love the fire notes I find this scent very comforting. It is not a very strong edt, but if you're looking for a powdery lactonic this one performs better than most. You do need to overspray. The crisp bergamot opening is tangy, the powdery lavender melds nicely with the woody base, the smoke smell is like a hint of a cold cast iron wood stove filled with maple ashes. It is lovely and sophisticated and smells like fresh printed money. Just don't spray as much in the summer, but still very wearable any time.

i love this fragrance, this one was my first designer but i feel like a comfortable fragrance, that i can use in normal days, at night, for specia occasions, i just dont’t recommend for hot days. The sillage and longevity is not good if you see the price and compare with other fragrances from valentino, but i like this, just don’t blind, try this perfume in somewhere, if you like the smells of milk, vanilla cream and some king of fireplace you’ll like it.

Probably one of the most hated drops of 2025, read all the fragrant comments and people review it. Smells almost like a women’s lotion, but in a masculine sense. First person who saw me instantly complimented the fragrance and I haven’t even had it for 24 hours. Longevity and projection however, doesn’t live up to other valentinos and especially for the price. Other than that it’s a pretty solid fall, winter, and maybe spring pickup. 8/10

My second favourite Valentino fragrance number one being extradose. This is pretty unique, does lean feminine but definitely a male fragrance. The fire accord is little to none existent so I get why people criticising if they specifically wanted that. The notes I get are lavender a bit lactonic and incense. It's just really really nice and a shame a limited release. UPDATE: it's my favourite Valentino 👌

To my nose, this is a gourmand scent, in the same category as Bianco Latte. It's versatile and mass pleasing, long lasting with decent projection. I can wear it to office without hesitation. I do get soft radiant of milky vanilla note which is very addictive. This flanker is unisex leaning masculine, day and night appropriate. Girls really like this on males, surprisingly.

I am not sure I understand all of the negative reviews below. I think it smells great. Creamy and woody, and it leans masculine but not super masculine. I am getting a subtle smokiness more in the drydown. I just started wearing it and it seems perfect for fall, winter or spring. Moderate projection and it lasts a solid 4 to 6 hours. Overall a 9/10 for me.

Hello This reminds me of an old perfume, like a Patou, but for today this remarkable as far as being a contrasting scent, the lavender anchors the scent, the woody spice and bergamot gives the impression of a rubber raincoat and the fire and smoke slowly rising. It’s very good, nothing like it. Daring and unexpected.

Creamy and delicious smelling fragrance, perfect for fall/winter months. It opens a bit strong/boozy but as soon as it dries down, it smells amazing. I did not expect that it would last that long, but have been positively surprised that it last pretty much the whole day on skin. Recommend this fragrance!

@brohland No, it's complete nonsense. It's not smoky woody aromatic lavender, but a creamy woody fragrance very close to Z&V This is Her (not This is Him). So, the only thing they got right is the presentation, because the bottle and name match the fragrance.

My nose must be different to most, I get coconut / milky very heavy up top - kind of like what I wished Purple Melancholia was.... Edit - my nose DEFINITELY must be different, as I get milky with coconut all the way through the journey of this fragrance....

Nonsense notes breakdown and "reminds me of" based on the listed notes instead of the actual scent. RIP blind buyers. It smells like Z&V This is Her, that creamy woody fragrance. I like this one because I like the Z&V as well.😁👍

I dont understand the negative press surrounding this flanker. It smells amazinginly good and i keep smelling myself to remind myself of this magic fragrance. To me, it smells like a vanilla icecream latte.

The Donna blows the Uomo out of the water in both performance and a smoother, sweeter scent, but if I hadn't bought Donna for my wife, I would have thought Uomo was much better than it actually is.

A very likeable tropical sweet musk with a warm, coconutty vibe. It kinda reminds me of Le Beau jpg. I’ve paired it with sboy which also has a tropical coconut vibe, and it was pretty fire.

Its warm, sweet and clean, most people say its for wibter but its also good for summer in the evening and night.

I love, love, love it! The first Valentino cologne I have bought in ages. It smells divine.

this has to be the best of valentino's perfumes. have smelled most of their perfumes and this one doesn't remind me of any of the others. you can definitely feel a bit of the born in roma dna. but this one is very different from the others. when you first spray it you can clearly feel that it is a born in roma perfume. it starts with the classic fresh born in roma notes but unlike the others this one is also a bit peppery. but after a few minutes that fresh smell that all born in roma perfumes have, disappears. instead a more woody note emerges mixed with a little bit of a rather feminine milky base note if you like the other valentino perfumes and want something more spicy and woody that is suitable for a cozy autumn day or for Christmas then this is something for you. would like to say that this would have been suitable for girls too but it still leans towards the masculine side. The longevity is very good. I can still smell it on my clothes after 12+ hours. I would probably say it's worth the price. I got my bottle for 1350 sek = 144.02 $

I didn't realize initially that this was a men's cologne when I tried it in Sephora, but I really liked it better than the women's version of BIR Ivory. I was expecting the BIR DNA, but I didn't get that at all. To my nose, I get mostly the citrusy bergamot with just the right amount of lavender. I would have never thought those two notes would go together well, but it works! I get a tiny bit of a smoky, woody smell, but nothing overwhelming. It's clean and bright with the citrus, very fresh smelling. This leans more unisex to me than masculine and I was surprised that it's not labeled as unisex. Overall, I really like this fragrance and would absolutely get a full bottle if it were in stock, even though it's for a man.

Was given 4 tester decants - tldr = 6.5/10 pleasant warm woody whipped cream. Opens like a smoky and warm fireplace where people roasted marshmallows and had a cozy time together. The opening is surprisingly "long", as in it radiates this cozy vibe for a decently long time :) Drydown is whipped cream with a toasted nuts note mixed in, almost gourmand and edible. Would only wear for specific evening events or occasions, as it needs to breathe freely otherwise people around you perceive it as cloying. BUT very nice to see Valentino pivot somewhere different, compared to the rest of the lineup - give it a shot!

Got my bottle in from Sephora. This is a very unisex scent. I guess it’s meant to be pretty androgynous. To my nose it’s citrusy, floral, and a bit creamy. I don’t get any smoke or incense. This doesn’t smell like a cologne that’s been sprayed, but more like a body lotion someone would be wearing. It also smells similar to Billie Eilish’s Your Turn which is unisex as well.

I really like it a lott I tried it out today at sephora on skin, on initial sprays is harsh and little bit reminds you of LV Lovers once it dries down is like Replica by the fireplace add lavander and bergamot, smells good drying down after a few hours, going to get a decant no need for the full bottle, is a different, but yet good release.

Valentino Uomo Born in Roma Ivory... a really nice and it’s a very different scent. I get the fire note and the lavender/vanilla. Hard to describe... maybe like a crème brûlée vibe? Not at all smokey, it’s sweet and warm. All seasons except summer. Unisex. Age 18+. Good longevity and silage. 8/10.

I smelled this in Sephora. Sorry its lowkey insane how they are marketing this as a "fire" "smokey scent" ... I didn't get that at all!! I just got creamy lavender. Marketing for this is whack But at the end of the day.... pretty solid born in roma flanker. I would buy it.....

Smells Fantastical. Ivory vanilla wipped cream. And this is not that light ice cream this is the one with some weight. A Born in roma fragrance with some actual weight plus the strength they are known for in their more potent offerings. This is so so good.

I wish they sold this on discounters because I would have a bottle by now. Though it’s not accurate to the listed notes, nor does it project or last a while, I think it’s an amazing scent. So sad they have to discontinue this

Lowkey only bought this because its limited edition the woods in this make it smell wierd it could smell like a warm marshmallow but it smells like you burnt the marshmallow with the stick

Tested it at a Douglas store today, on a paper strip as well as on skin. The opening somehow reminds me of pop corn. Drydown is sweet, but not overly sweet or syrupy sweet as some reviewers mentioned on social media. And the milky accord is definitely something that I personally had never experienced before in a mens fragrence. Longevity is okay, lasted about 5 to 5 and a half hours on my skin before it started to fade away. Tester strip is still going strong, tho I have to mention that it smells completely different on paper compared to how it smells on my skin. Had a girl I work with who accompanied me smell it on my skin. She liked it, said it "smells nice". But we both agreed that this is is never ever worth the 155€ price tag. And as weird as this may sound - although this is the male version of Ivory (UOMO Ivory), I really think that I would prefer to smell this on a woman. I do think that this is perfectly unisex and that all you ladies out there could totally rock this. It's fine for what it is. Smells pleasant. Nothing super special. Decent performance. The one thing that is totally off-putting about Ivory is the price tag. If it would cost the same as other fragrences in the BIR UOMO line I would probably consider buying it. But surely not for a price that gets you some of the finest niche fragrences on the market. Nuh uh Valentino. You might fool some influencers by slapping the words "limited edition" on it. But anybody who's not lighting their fancy cigars with Dollar and Euro bills will probably agree that this is not - in no parallel universe, not even in bizzaro world - worth 155€ / 165$.

Interesting. Interesting in the sense that I feel like there is a lot going on in the fragrance. I feel like rather than trying to be Fresh, trying to be sweet & warm, or trying to be a symphony of both at once. Born in Roma Ivory struggles to decide where it resides and it feels a little messy. But oddly enough, I am drawn to it. Creamy & woody, and a little floral. Not unique, but not certainly not bad by any means- but also not something I'd wear. BIR Ivory has a floral creaminess to it that for some reason reminds me of Althair by PDM. There is also a slight shampoo/hairspray vibe to it- and for that reason, I truly think that anyone could wear this.

Before anything, this perfume does not smell like the notes listed above. It is lactonic, coconutty vanilla. I also get some really faint fresh spicy and woody but they are not the star of the show in this fragrance. Feels warm and sweet, but not too gourmand. Over time, it starts to feel more clean and soapy, like a creamy sweet soap. Maybe it's the lavender? Not sure. Could easily serve as a unisex scent. I appreciate that milky notes were used in a fragrance that is advertised for men. I don't hate it, but I also don't see any wow factor in this fragrance. Just an okay Valentino. Incredible bottle design though. 6/10.

Smells like white chocolate caramel candy with a faint hint of bitterness presumably from the smoke note. Has a touch of the signature valentino DNA so something you'd want to dress up or save for a special occasion. Has a very similiar DNA to Bad Boy Superstars (also limited edition and also in white). The scent itself leans gourmet and invokes a sense of warmth and coziness, situation-wise I'd only reach for this for a fancy romantic movie night or chilling by a luxurious indoor fireplace, not much else. Could be a nice pick up for collectors or if you dig these niche white designer fragrances.

This fragrance is gentle and inoffensive, with a smooth, creamy character. It leans slightly sweet and milky, giving a soft, unisex vanilla impression. Its behavior reminds me a bit of Gris Charnel (not the same scent, but similar in how it wears). A very gentle smoked wood impression peaks through the cream. Unlike some other fragrances in the line, it lacks the candy-like ambroxan DNA, so it doesn’t feel as teenager targeted. It feels like it was made for anybody. Overall, it’s a simple, agreeable fragrance that I find pleasant overall, though it doesn’t particularly excite me. 7.9/10

Maybe I'm missing something but if you think this is smokey you should try BeauFort because this isn't that smokey. I expected something interesting based on the notes but I should have known this would be another sweet, safe, dumb designer. It has a milky marshmallow lotion vibe. Final drydown smells like white chocolate which is kinda cool I suppose, but Coromandel does it way better. I'm going to wear it more and see if I get this smokey lavender others have gotten but my first impression is that this a mid release. Bottle is awesome.

TL;DR it's pretty mid, dont buy the hype. Get a sample or find someone else's bottle to shmooze off of Non-TL;DR The dry down is definitely the best part the way it gives creamy, campfire toasted marshmallows after about 3 - 4 hours in until it fades into a smokey, sweet, powdery skin scent. The opening is a nice florally mix of the Bergamot and Lavender. I could just be missing the hype on this one tbh. Not a bad office fragrance but I definitely wouldn't reach for this over other date night frags if I was trying to get touched tbh.

This is a very average fragrance. Projection stays close to the skin, and longevity is just okay, with the scent starting to fade after about two hours. To my nose, it has a noticeable milky note, which I actually kind of like. There’s something slightly off about it which I don't like, but the milkiness also makes it feel unique to me. I can’t think of many other big brand men’s fragrances that feature a milky note like this. The soft projection does fit the scent profile, but overall it feels overpriced for what it delivers.

For this being a limited edition cologne. I see why it’s limited.. it seems like Valentino knew if this was a cologne they just dropped it wouldn’t be as hype. This cologne imo doesn’t smell all that. It isn’t bad just leans very feminine. Was I was at Sephora the lady was telling me a lot of women were buying the men’s cologne because of its unisex smell. It’s not the worst but definitely not worth $165

When I first tried it, it was bitter acrid smoke that was synthetic and unpleasant. Trying it again it smells chocolately and bitter, like dark chocolate. There is a hint of smoke, and the clean fresh spicy Valentino lavender is present. For all of its merits however, it is still synthetic plastic-y smell. Not FB worthy, even though the bottle is stunning.

To me it smelled like a warm milk with smokey aspect in the first few hours, then some lavender and wood but i dont get the smoke anymore neither the milk in it. i would say that the: scent 4/10 performance 6/10 sillage 5/10 not a bad fragrance (i gave it a 4/10 cuz i dont like the warm milk aspect), not for me, definitely not blind buy safe
