Just Bloom

I smelled this one together with Blooming Ballet. Both carry the word “bloom,” yet the beauty they express is completely different. It was difficult to choose between them, so I ended up buying both. From the first moment on skin, there is a very direct burst of greenery—like a flower bud just opening, still holding moisture in its leaves. The air feels filled with a crisp botanical freshness. Very quickly, the gardenia unfolds fully. The floral note is dense and full-bodied, not a light watery white flower but a blossom in full expansion, rich and three-dimensional. In the heart, the scent does not move through complex transitions. Instead, it maintains that fully opened gardenia state. Despite the richness, there is no oily heaviness or suffocating density. There is a sense of transparency underneath. My impression is that lily of the valley is used here more as a technical material than as a thematic one—its role is to introduce freshness, a faint green tone, and clarity, keeping the structure clean and preventing the flower from becoming too heavy. After trying many fragrances from Valmont, this seems to be one of the brand’s recognizable traits: the formulas are not overly complicated, but they are controlled with precision. The emphasis is placed on stability and texture rather than on layering numerous notes. In the drydown, a lightly sweet woody base appears, with a lingering trace of gardenia still present. It is no longer in full bloom, but rather the soft impression of a flower left on the skin after the moment of flowering has passed.

The notes above don't show the green aspect. It's like EL Private Collection and Chanel No. 5 had offspring. I enjoy Private Collection but always felt is lacking something. I cannot stop sniffing my sweater. FB on the way...this one really grew on me. So well blended. It has a subtle green note that mixes with the floral to create a unique gem. I say unique even though the florals are familiar and the green is familiar but the combination manages to not be too dry or too sweet, and really is what makes this one work so well.

Very strong and musky. I’ve worn it in summer and winter, and it’s pretty, just not my favorite to wear. I wish it were fresher and more delicate. The dry-down is really nice I will say.

Smells a little mature I'll let it sit until Spring and see if anything has changed
