Eau du Tsar

Very dry. There is lavender (the only flower I detected), oakmoss, patchouli, vetiver, cardamom, caraway and some fruits, like pineapple and, perhaps, mandarin. I can ́t smell any melon. It is not an easy-to-like fragrance, definitely not for the majority of youngsters. Much more differences than similarities from Tsar in terms of scent, but has the same clear masculine intention. I like it very much.

I purchased a vintage mini-bottle of Tsar and had high hopes based on personal reviews and the original's full bottle high price. I get spicy-woody with a slight floral note. It's very good in a "classic" 90s masculine, fringe barbershop way. While at first I wasn't gaga over it, I've been won over and really like it a lot. I can understand how some do/will love it. I recommend getting a decant as full bottles of vintage are outrageously priced.

Never tried the original Tsar, but had a 7 ml mini bottle of Eau du Tsar I like it, but it's a very mature take on a green fresh scent. The scent, bottle and box design screams early 90's. But it's released in late 90's

Citrusy, woody and a bit spicy. Musky and very dry. With a big dose of cardamom, lavender, vetiver and patchouli at dry down it is quite different from the original. Very interesting and complex blend. A great scent

Don't expect any strong sandalwood, patchouli, oakmoss, or vetiver here. I like the opening, but after an hour or so there's mostly a fruity/lavender musk with a touch of spice. I'm not a fan of this kind of fragrance but I'd say it seems reasonably well done. My bottle will have to go up on my swap list because I've just got too many bottles now ! UPDATE: I think the same musks that are used in Michael for Men by Kors are used here, though most of the other notes are different. Once these molecules largely wear off, which takes a few hours, it smells quite good. I doubt many are as sensitive these molecules as I am, in terms of disliking them, but it's something that at least some people probably want to know.

Slumping popular taste can be the only reason for discontinuing such a fragrance if ya ask me. This was good but unfortunately both my 50ml bottles went bad. I haven't had the same problem with any bottles of Tsar so I guess they're more dissimilar than their scents would suggest. This was, to me, a fresher version of Tsar. There were summer days I preferred this to Tsar for that reason. Overall Tsar is still the better of the two imho but it wasn't by a lot. It no longer matters because, while I still have Tsar, I've thrown away the rancid Eau du Tsar as it wasn't usable anymore. Tsar wins, Tsar wins, Tsar wins! If you're a fan of other old-school greens you would like this one.

Once upon a time I had this flanker with its lovely frosted glass bottle. I don't think I appreciated it enough at the time as I thought it was totally overshadowed by Tsar itself. However, in retrospect, I suspect that I also didn't give it the credit it might have deserved and so I would like to find it and try it again and judge it more fairly on its own merits. Update: Although my vintage bottle showed signs of turning stale, I've been using this throughout the summer. Performance is modest leaving behind a pleasant sweet woody base. However, as I thought, it's not a patch on the original Tsar and I doubt it will be missed very much now it's gone.

Very interesting scent, I would describe it as a fusion between classic Tsar and Cartier Roadster (also discontinued) which I like both. Primarily spring scent but it's quite universal, easy to wear and pleasurable. Very good performances for that kind of a scent. Enough distinctive from Tsar and my opinion is that this is worth having in collection. It's very rare unfortunately, it's easier to find classical Tsar than this one, but there are still some pieces from some old stocks, I bought my few months ago.

A huge blast of caraway right off the bat. Dries down less spicy, yet it’s spicy until the very end. Dry spicy. It’s supposed to be a light cologne-y version of Tsar, but it’s quite heavy. Decent, but it's not nearly as good as the original Tsar. 8/10

A citric musky scent with a piercing fruit nuance. I do not like whatever fruity sweet note that is in this... it's just nasty smelling. The piercing fruit subsides and this starts to smell very similar to David Beckham Intense Instinct.

To me this was a clone of Davidoff's Good Life which in itself is a great fragrance but you dont need another one like it. Its not the same of course but the overall vibe and direction strongly point towards GL.

One of those flankers that ruin its original reputation: Take the original Tsar add some melon punch and voilà:Eau de Tsar.
