Encens Precieux

Blind buy quick first impressions: TLDR: imagine Myths man + Amouage Tribute crossed with Guerlain L'instant Extreme Homme. My 4.5 year old daughter sums it up as "cookies and cream and tobacco"... I don't smoke so her only reference for tobacco is Grandpa's cigs or , more realistically, the other tobacco scents I've had her smell in the last year or so since she really got interested in "Dad's smells." Sharp and electric incense/tobacco/leather... It calls to mind the incense accord of Myths man with that Myths/Tribute leather too, but with a rich gourmand element lightly woven throughout. The gourmand element smells like dark chocolate syrup over vanilla ice cream with a hint of root beer, and also hints of honey and most interestingly a wonderful peanut butter note. Peanut butter sounds weird but wow is it wonderful here as it is integrated with the chocolate note and adds richness and keeps it from being too sweet. It calls to mind the peanut butter Oreos my son recently requested. It's wholly unique and the closest comparison I can make is Guerlain L'instant Extreme homme (LIDGE) although it needs to be noted that the gourmand accord here is not as thick and dense as in the Guerlain, and the peanut butter element really sets this apart. The gourmand elements are not the star of the show, instead they are worn like a diaphanous cape airily draped over the incense/leather/tobacco core. A rich and elegant scent that will be enjoyable year round but feels like it will be especially beautiful on a cold winter day. My prediction: this will eventually be hyped; it's connection to Myths man alone should ensure this.

I LOVE this - it’s got that Van Cleef ‘old money’ vibe, like a well used Barbour coat hanging in the porch with some old leather dog leads in a large country estate. It is very peppery, with a sort of dry, dusty churchy element from the incense and I totally understand why some are put off by it. But - when the vanilla kicks in in the dry down it’s heavenly; so cosy and classy. It’s one you might have to wear for a while to love, and if a sample of this has ever intrigued you, I urge you to get a small decant and give it a good chance.

wonderful scent , I know it’s not too special, but I like it.. it’s a basic amber ,myrrh & incense scent with hints of vanilla & tobacco , the notes are very well balanced ... & to be honest I didn’t catch the black pepper or leather you know the harshness of them ... it’s so good in winter nights.. thank god no one knows about it...

Yes--it is pricey--but it's lasting and you will receive a lot of complement. Best suits to wear it on a night's date. One of the best perfumes I tried.

Great fragrance for the price. The opening, for me, is Christmas and leather. A smooth, spicy gourmand, with vanilla and amber. I get a cardamom note in the opening. The mid is less "Christmas" and more seductive gourmand-leather. The scent is sweet, alluring, and leathery. I don't get an incense/smoky note directly. But i believe the incense mix with the vanilla and give it that Christmassy feel. The quality feels high. Dry down is less leather and more gourmand. It still has a hint of leather, but not as powerfully as earlier in the journey. It gives of a Very pleasant almost velvety scent trail, from opening to dry down. It has solid projection for hours and hours, and stays on you for quite a lot of hours. 7+ hours easy, with a very acceptable scent bouble all the way. This is going to be one of my "Christmas time" fragrances, from october/november to february. Could easily find it's way in as a date fragrance for me as well. This is a captivating, alluring, and gourmand, with spice and leather. Perfect to seduce someones heart, or to give yourself a nice wiff all day. Score: 7/10.

Encens Precieux starts with a powerful blast of black pepper, softened by pink pepper. Then, it's the incense's and tobacco's turn (tobacco is dry and a tinsy ashy here) to shine! After a few moments, they are joined by amber in its full bloom, myrrh, and leather. Nothing stands out too much and/or clashes with other notes. To wrap up, Encens Precieux is a multi-faceted fragrance: it's equally spicy, ambery, incensy, and, foremost, leathery. Personal rating: 8/13

I haven't reviewed much lately but this one caught my attention, solely for its name. It is a strong incense leather perfume, however, it gave me a fresh feeling as well. A hint of oud, yet it wasn't that strong. The leather scent is quite artificial yet unique in its blend, but something you have smelt in other amber leather perfumes. I think what made this more likeable for me was the fact that it did not have this head achingly strong leather scent. (7/10)

It is my now favourite! Bought it in mid September 2024. Reminds me of: countryside, smoke from fireplace, pine tree, black pepper, a bit vanilla. Was inspired by Margiela's Replica collection "By the fireplace" to start the ("smoky") niche "era". For bold perfume enthusiasts only! (you won't get much compliments, only questions).

I'm an incense nut, so I had to try this. This is silly. Morabito Sultan Noir is very similar to this scent, but offers similar (good) performance for one-tenth of the price. There's no point in going into laborious analyses of this non-attempt to do something creative. Buy the Morabito. It's irritating just how derivative this is. Interestingly, no nose is linked to this, but I think it is almost certainly the work of three famous perfumers: Monsieur Marketingmeeting, Mme Salesteam, and Mlle GCMS. That said, this is marginally more interesting in the deep dry down than the Morabito, and props for that. However, for its shameless attempt to make money by doing nothing of value, you have to admire it's chutzpah.

Very bold, sharp (even pungent) incense note. Spicy.

What a letdown! This was a blind purchase based solely on the fragrance notes provided by the site. I'm going to be brutally honest, even if it might offend some! Upon the first spray, I was hit with a very dense, powerful, and pungent amber note (it smells overwhelmingly of Ambroxan!). It was an assault on my senses! This note was so overpowering that it completely ruined the experience for me. As for the rest of the scent's evolution? Ugh! Disappointing! I detected a hyper-concentrated Myrrh resin, which gave off an olfactory impression somewhere between rubber and leather. There was nothing syrupy or sweet about this fragrance. There was no hint of Oud wood! But it felt as if it was there! It reminded me of the Oud found in poorly crafted fragrances - chemical and invasive! The vanilla tobacco was overdone and lacked finesse! I found it to be irritating and aggressive. It was like an olfactory punch... A bulldozer! In the same vein, I would place: Ameer Al Oudh Intense Oud by Lattafa Perfumes.

Good God. No. I've loved the whole collection ever since it came out (the only one I was not into was now discontinued Cologne Noire). Some, that later on joined the first Collection Extraordinaire, were mostly ok and still at least interesting, but this thing right here sets the "interesting" bar sky high. I mean - I did not expect the whole barnyard experience in one of the VC&A bottles, and yet there it is. I'm not saying it's bad, by all means, but I certainly wouldn't want to smell like I just milked two cows and a goat, and then rode a pony saddle free. No, sir. It brings some happy childhood memories, yes. Going to the countryside, visiting neighbors with cows, peeking through the barn door to see if there is any new calf resting in the shadows... I still don't want to smell it in the city.

Precious Incense In the heart of the vast, endless desert & it’s unyielding heat, we always await the dark, & it always comes with its charming nights, gatherings around the fire place with the cool breeze & the stars shining above. Opens with a blast of black & pink pepper with hints of sweetness. It’s tingly & will tease you with spicy freshness. Two minutes in, smoky incense rises with frankincense vibe to it, there is also sweetness to it with amber & light leathery tone. The level of sweetness here is excellent, with all the other notes adding a niche vibe. It’s spicy, smoky, ambery, leathery, with a touch of sweetness The heart is spicy, smoky & balsamic with more warm amber, leather & hints of slight sweet tobacco. It’s warm & spicy with hints of sweetness & a faint touch of bitterness that is barely detectable. This perfume gives me the impression of a magician holding a magic wand in his hand where all the magic happens with just tiny hand gestures. The base is much sweeter with more tobacco, less incense, but still a bit spicy with amber, leather & balsamic notes. A touch of vanilla is added to bring smoothness here. All the ingredients here are so familiar. But together they’re shaping an olfactory experience that doesn’t ring any bell & it’s addictive to me. (That’s their 2025 release) This is a super classy perfume for cool winter nights & it’s unisex ( this perfume will grow on you a lot) Performance here is very good & silage is room filling, you’ll be asked about your perfume as it’s stands out. If you're familiar with the french pastry Canelé- that's kinda what this reminds me of- left in the oven a bit too long but still oddly delicious...and maybe you forgot to add the sugar. Basically it's a rum-infused custard who's outside is caramelized in it's cylindrical tin to form a brown, crunchy exterior. Sometimes it can turn too brown and taste bitter and acrid from the slightly burnt parts- that's what I'm picking up here. Initially this was really surprising in a good way and I kept wondering what made it so unique. Incense, dough, some waxy element, an electric spiciness, and a faint gourmand undertone. Now that it's settled it smells like a chemical solvent of some kind, maybe a hint of permanent marker? Maybe closer is the alcoholic top note of a vanilla extract- but whatever it is has been cooked and smoked and rolled in pepper, given a slight savory-herbaceous facet from a deceptively hidden tobbaco note. It sounds a bit challenging and I would say that's true. Dirty, doughy leather with a smoked vanilla pod, and a light sprinkling of leftover ash.

The opening is intriguing — a bold spark of black pepper blended with soft vanilla that feels both inviting and unexpectedly refined. For a brief while, it teases complexity and warmth, and I thought this might be a surprise favourite. But about 10 minutes in, the incense and myrrh charge in and take full control. What starts as a layered fragrance quickly becomes a one-note experience — and that note is tobacco. Not harsh or burnt, but sweet, syrupy, and suffocatingly dominant. The sweetness might appeal to some, but it lingers like a heavy curtain — thick, inescapable, and way too forward. Any subtlety from the opening is completely lost in the haze. It doesn’t evolve so much as it collapses under its own weight. Nice idea, poor execution. If you enjoy smelling like sweet tobacco for 4+ hours straight, this might be your thing. For me, it was overwhelming, and hard to wear.

Vanilla caviar. Extra spicy Coca-Cola made the old fashioned way. A small chapel at a private catholic university. This is probably what Kathryn Merteuil from Cruel Intentions smelled like... Sitting at a chapel with her perfect cunty face pretending to pray. Dressed in satin Prada, her hair smelling like light incense and lavish vanilla. ¿Will she enjoy a coke later or ruin someone’s reputation for fun? There’s always time for both. I love the “Black and Pink Pepper” accord blended with vanilla, it gives this that spicy Coke vibe. This makes this fragrance spicier than Encens Suave and way spicer than Babycat.

Incredible scent, not sure why many people are against it. Even though it seams like a spicy fragrance, to me it smells cold...black crushed peppers...with cold smoke and leather on stone or books...and slight dry wood. To me it cannot offend anyone- this is not cologne or typical men's scent of pine cleaner or dirty amber scent. No no...no! This is unisex...velvety...creamy luxurious scent...almost witchy or gothic. Rockstar elegance and power.

Mad smooth, mysterious, powdery. Imagine a smoked Midnight In Paris. Wet, glossy leather. Chewy brownie vibes from the resins. Powdered smoke. This is date nights and special occasions. You could honestly wear this anytime except Summer. Too seductive/oriental to wear to work imho. Vanilla caviar/extra spicy cola is crazy. Kinda. I kinda get that.

This is very similar to Smoking Hot by Kilian. Very nice and strong enough. I don't get very much incense but a nice smoky tobacco-vanilla in the dry down.
