Musc de Soie (silk musk): I have to stop saying "I don't like...." At the beginning of my real perfume journey, I said I don't like rose fragrances..fast forward, I love and have many rose fragrances. Once again I said I don't like Aldehydes. At the fragrance counter in Neiman Marcus (it is available in the U.S.) just testing and having fun talking fragrance talk with other customers and salespeople, (like we like to do)...and lo and behold...I try this. Not knowing what the notes are - but knowing with the clean soapy smell, there are probably aldehydes in this fragrance. What I say now is I don't like ALL aldehydes. I sprayed this on and left. Many hours later, I could still smell this gorgeous fragrance. The scent bubble is so intoxicating to my nose. It has a clean, soapy, effervescent opening, then the neroli peeks through...in the end all notes blend together and I am left with a creamy sandalwood, musk, neroli and aldehydic fragrance. This could be my signature scent. This to me is easy reach, all season, more day than night, softly sweet fragrance - and in that way similar to Chanel's 1957 with classic aldehydic Chanel formula and I love them both. I love Van Cleef & Arpels as a brand and I think they are very underrated. I currently have 4 VC&A fragrances and counting. I think it leans feminine, but everyone has to try it for themselves. I feel pretty wearing this and I feel like this is mood boosting...maybe it is the effervescent nature of the fragrance. Launched in 2024 - this has made me a believer...long live aldehydes. :)

Why is nobody talking about this one? I tested it a few months ago, and it simply didn’t leave my mind I had to get it the moment I saw it available. To me, it smells clean, soft and creamy. No sharpness from the aldehydes at all. It reminds me of a specific scent I’m very familiar with, though I can’t quite put my finger on it. What I get the most is white musk (duh), and a heavy dose of benzoin. a bit of Sandalwood and Cashmeran too. This is perfect for layering with other perfumes, as it’s not too complex and blends well with almost everything. I’ve been mixing it with a lot of scents. The longevity is amazing too this one really lasts on both my skin and clothes. It’s nothing groundbreaking or unique, but I really really love this scent.

This wears silky smooth! Although it is a musk fragrance it doesn’t really have that heavy white musk sharpness, instead it’s well balanced with a powdery, your skin but better, fresh laundry effect! There is a little sweetness and warmth in the background. Longevity and sillage are both quite good! There is an elegance to this fragrance, even though I would classify it as a casual scent. It could be a good signature scent, and perfect for the office! You do have to like this scent profile though,which does not work on my skin chemistry!

Great gentle and tender powdery musk. Definite baby product vibes which I love so this is right up my alley. This is my first fragrance from this fragrance house. This is so classy and comforting. The aldehydes blend just fine and are not screechy at all. The bottle is so luxurious and sleek. It's like you put on some baby lotion. So comforting. It doesn't last very long on me, but the scent more than makes up for it to be honest.

This is elevated baby powder. Absolutely stunning imo. A gentle beast that is creamy, fluffy, classy and timeless. The longevity on this is outstanding. I usually don’t feel compelled by or feel drawn to powdery fragrances. This one stands out and is quite lovely. Looking forward to playing with this and trying some layering possibilities.

A musk fragrance that lasts for more than 8 hours! Amazing longevity and performance. The scent itself is so lovely, powdery and musky at the same time. I think I may found my signature scent.

Bravo. This one is beautiful. Little soapy (but I love that), clean and warm. Lingers for days on clothes.

Amazing powder elegant long lasting

Baby powder soap. Maybe baby shampoo? It has that soft, pearly, just-washed smell, but it's not aggressively squeaky either. Imagine tender, warm skin just out of the bath, wrapped in a pale and soft bespoke bath robe. The aldehydes are gentle here, without the cold sparkling harshness antiques can sometimes have. Here they are blurred, almost lactonic in texture and frothed at the edges, glowing gently. On me it sits very close and intimate, very much in that “your skin but better” vibe, except it doesnt quite do that iso-e-minimalist or warm-salty-ambrette thing. Musc de Soie feels creamier, like skin that was lathered with absurdly expensive milky soap with a faint floral hush. The cashmeran, soft and beige, gives the musk a little body towards the end. I think this is what stops the perfume from feeling like mere soap. Luxurious lotion, not sexy, not powdery but deeply pleasant. Comforting. VCA's take on a baby-shampoo, powdery-soap, clean nape of the neck. Which could have gone very wrong. But here it just feels soft and rich and close and... appropriately expensive.

In the dry down, this perfime closely resembles Pierre Guillaumes's Le Musc & La Peau Extrait but with better projection.

Soft musk opening, almost tactile. It conveys a sense of gentleness. I like how it lingers on my skin and makes me feel calm. I can see myself wearing at any moment. Neroli petals, velvety sandalwood, aldehydic notes.. benzoin emerges as it develops, and the cashmeran enhances second-skin feeling. I agree with the comments comparing it to a kind of baby talc vibe. I love baby scents, so in my olfactory language, this is beautiful. Edit: loong lasting (dont overapply, drydown can get somewhat controversial)

It is a subtle fragrance with an exceptionally clean feel. The opening aldehydes give the impression of a freshly pressed, crisp white shirt. As it develops, sandalwood and powdery musk come to the fore, soft, creamy and enveloping, with no sharp edges. True to its name, the scent is silky and refined. Longevity is around six hours, while the projection creates a delicate, close to the skin aura.

That’s a very traditional musky scent with some floral and powdery undertones. Not my cup of tea to be honest, because it has a dusty sort of bee pollen type of scent that makes it somewhat interesting but also gives me a bit of headache. Follow me on ig: scent.guide

Usually I am a super freak for the clean musk category. I will say that this one has great lasting power for a scent so soapy and aldehydic but for me I think it might be missing a certain magic or je ne sais quoi. I am impressed by the performance though!

Soapy in a truly comforting way- like a grandma coded bar soap. I thought of soft rose petals in the opening but its more creamy on the dry down where the sandalwood comes out along with the cashmeran to envoke utter softness

This is a really pretty, elegant, musk scent with a soft but very present sillage and good performance. It lingers beautifully in the air and on clothes for days. The aldehydes are smooth and the benzion gives it a vanilla like sweetness but this is not an overly sweet or juvenile like sweet fragrance. This is sophisticated. It’s airy, slightly sweet, clean, a little citrusy and very musky. Keep in mind I’ve only worn this twice so I’m still getting to know all of it’s facets. What I do know for sure is that it’s gorgeous and that you must love musk, white musk to be exact, to enjoy this and I love musk so I adore it. Easy reach for me and is powerful and present but it’s clean, soft and airy nature keeps it from being overwhelming. Referring to the reminds me section: this definitely does not smell at all like Teint de Neige - that one is a dusty, baby powder bomb type of musk scent that I personally don’t care for.

I like this a lot. To this day there was no Van Cleef scent that I would not enjoy and this was not an exception. Yes it is not groundbreaking and others might say basic, but that is what I really enjoy about this scent. While being quite simple, it speaks volumes. The musk note is soft and elegant, not screechy and sharp. The scent overall feels soft, smooth and balanced, very elegant and classy while still being modern and stylish. As musky 'your skin but better' is trending this its the trend but it stays on this luxurious way. If you follow those perfume trends, you might try this one. This scent truly feel like luxury, it's smooth and as the name suggests truly feels silky, there is light creamy aspect from sandalwood but it does not overpower other notes and does not feel woody. Really amazing scent. Elegant, luxurious I would even say timeless. Beautiful!

I brought a decant of this on vacation to Central Oregon with my boyfriend in august 2025. We camped at Diamond Lake for 3 days, stopping at Crater Lake before heading to Bend, where we stayed for the bulk of our trip. It was at Crater Lake where he proposed. Just a few months before they were closing for 3 years and right in the middle of the butterfly migration. Everything about that trip and the proposal was perfect. Now, every time I wear this perfume, I'm filled with some of my happiest memories and the joyful, carefree emotions that come along with them.

This is a gorgeous musk turning lipstick within 30-40 min. I clearly hear a classic luxury shiny buttery red lipstick: the sent from soft bitter powdery (nothing to do with baby musk or Lorenzo Villoresi dusty musk) transforms into a more rounded version of Lipstick Rose (by Frederic Malle) - who knows - knows. It gets more addicting as the time passes. Will be getting a full bottle.
