Néroli Amara

Neroli Amara is a masterpiece, a true reimagining of neroli. It refuses to be bound by the usual tropes of the scent. There's no sharp citric bite, no overpowering greenness, no dizzying soapiness. No, it comes alive in its own quiet way, sparkling in the sunlight like a shard of broken crystal catching a fleeting ray. Neroli, yes—but not the brash, screechy kind. This is neroli as it was meant to be: served sparkly, fleshy, soft, aside the ripe pulp of an orange, tender and almost teetering on the edge of sweetness. A blossom neither too green nor too citrus-driven, it weaves a delicate balance between the freshness of its identity as a citrus flower and the creamy, honeyed undertones unique to its warm perfume. It avoids the typical cleaning agent sharpness that so many neroli scents tend to lean into and instead cocoons itself in a golden glow, light yet full of substance. A subtlety that’s almost tantalizing in how it lingers just enough to leave you wanting more, but never overwhelming. Its accompanying citruses too are not simply loud or bitter or even just juicy, but chock full of seductive, glistening fruit flesh so irresistible. Then the depth beneath it all—this almost transparent hint of cypress you have to listen for, one elusive but essential. Like the whisper of wind in the trees, fresh but not invasive, it gives Neroli Amara a touch of nature, not a full embrace, and settles so seamlessly into the composition to give it an effortless sun-dappled grove air, where the leaves shimmer and the air tastes of warmth and possibility. The sparkle and lustre of this fragrance is really a fleeting one, but one that stays with you long after it’s passed. The way it blooms into something unexplainably addictively then sheens away, feels both too brief and eternal. There is nothing conventional about Neroli Amara. It’s not a simple freshie. It’s not a straightforward neroli cologne. Think an ever-elusive balance: bright but never harsh, delicate but never frail. It’s a scent that captures a fleeting moment, a feeling—something you don’t even know you’re missing until you find it. And once you do, you can’t let it go. Spritz, spritz, another spritz. It is, in every way, utterly captivating.

I blind bought this based of the notes, reviews and the admiration I have for this brand. And I was not disappointed. This is a soft and fresh solar citrusy fragrance. It opens with a beautiful bergamot and citrus accompanied by the mandarin giving it a juicy nuance, slightly aromatic and spicy due to the cypress and the peppers. Mid through the notes increase and stays solid citrusy aromatic. And in the dry down you get this ethereal neroli accompanied by a beautiful soft musk. The dry down is 💯 Damask by ormonde jayne which is similar to Valaya but softer and without the screechy feel. I think people are confusing between Damask and Levant. I have both and they have some similarities but they are completely different scent profiles. Levant is a sweet juicy floral with the same soft ethereal musk Ormonde Jayne does so well. Damask is the more citrusy musky profile and yes, it's exactly Neroli Amara in the late dry down. This is not a beast mode in terms of projection or sillage but the longevity is great. Projection is moderate on my skin which is a pleasant surprise considering most of Van Cleef perfumes are intimite on my skin. What a gem! My search for THE neroli is now over. At least for a year or two.

Neroli Amara is, for me, an extremely useful perfume; long lasting but not too loud, well liked by my colleagues, feminine-ish, wearable all year round in pretty much all settings and often sold at a heavy discount. This is the perfume I wear "when in doubt", my workhorse perfume, if you will. My profession and the society I live in demands soft, shower fresh perfumes and, well, in such settings I aim to please. Lune Feline, Musc Ravageur or even Tihota garners disapproving looks... Neroli Amara is citrusy, floral and slightly sweet. I get a somewhat fruity vibe. It is quite linear and both citrus and orange blossom is present from start to finish. Very "newly showered"! The neroli is super gentle and not too bitter. I get 5-6 h longevity, with moderate sillage. It doesn't hurt that Neroli Amara smells surprisingly similar to Ex Nihilo - Fleur Narcotique, which I've had my eyes on for the longest time but never LOVE-loved enough to buy at that price! Collection Extraordinaire is a pleasant collection of fragrances. They're all very French, restrained, "classy" and quite well made. Neroli Amara is no exception, in that it is easy to use and like, though never groundbreaking enough to love.

Gosh, is this glorious. From the beginning, you get a nice warm yet refreshing wave of neroli that isn't so sweet and isn't so green. Then, on my skin, this evolves into the most relaxing aromatic + musky orange blossom that, again, isn't so sweet and is just the right amount of fruity thanks to the pear. The cypress in the heart adds a nice dimension of elegance and weight to the composition and makes this unisex enough for a man to wear. Compared to Fleur Narcotique, I feel that this is more aromatic, less fruity, and overall, better. The litchi in FN really bothers me and prevents me from wearing it, since the sweet juiciness made it feel way too feminine for my liking. Yes, Ex Nihilo scents are usually stronger but the scent itself here is superior IMHO, so I will definitely recommend NA by VC&A. Plus, this will work well all year round IMO; Floral enough for spring, citrus enough for summer, musky enough for autumn, and sweet enough for winter. Where I am rn it is winter and this is working wonders for me. I get nice projection and good longevity from this and ppl really can smell this off me.

Reviewing a bottle from 2024. Neroli Amara was launched in 2018. Another gem from Van Cleefs Collection Extraordinaire. This opens with smooth citrus and bergamot and is quickly followed by spectacular orange blossom absolute. It is light and airy.The pink pepper and cedar add spice, woodiness and complexity. I don't think my description does justice to this beautifully blended fragrance. A more citrus forward and unisex cousin to Fleurs Narcotique also by Quentin Bisch. Quality - very good 5/5 Unisex- leans feminine Performance - arms length sillage; average longevity for a citrus fragrance 4/5 Neroli Amara is one of the most gorgeous citrus/floral fragrances out there. There are only a couple of negative reviews in Fragrantica out of many ( one negative review notes no citrus ??? seriously, and the other complains about the black pepper which is in fact incorrectly listed above - there is only pink pepper). Personally, I would only want better longevity from this otherwise it is perfect. 9/10

After being gifted a sample of Neroli Amara because I really liked it, I have to say I was quite surprised checking this page and finding the votes skewed feminine by this much. I really dig wearing this because for me because Neroli Amara brings a super smooth, creamy element to the neroli table, whereas other neroli fragrances often irked me a bit because of something sharp or crude used as fixative. Not so here: It stays fresh, elegant and refined all the way. Also, before becoming aware of the notes, I had strongly suspected green tea would be among them. Enfin, I'm getting positive reactions too wearing this as a man. I asked someone if I smelt feminine wearing this, but that wasn't the case according to them. Maybe really up close it would? However, I'm not sticking my nose up close, I'm just enjoying the wafts as they appear in the air around me. I'd say if you're a guy and you enjoy neroli don't let the votes prevent you from giving this a shot.

Light,subtle and intimate. Very floral, in the most inoffensive way. Delightful and fresh. Beautiful. On me, it sits close to my skin...doesn't leave a huge scent trail. So, this may not be your type of perfume if, you wanna make a loud statement (or have a room stop mid-action upon your arrival). This is not that. Far from it,this perfume is polite and... almost shy...ALMOST. It's like a subtle waft,that'll have people bringing in their noses closer to your neck or shoulder, to enjoy the lovely fragrance. I am a huge néroli fan, especially when the summer time season comes around. This beauty, showcases neroli in the most respectful and beautiful way. Not screechy or bathroomy at all (where neroli tends to come off, in some fragrances). Actually, this is one of my favorite go-to perfumes, before heading out on a daily.... LOVE!! 5/5

Neroli Amara verges on a carbon copy duplicate of Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir. The Guerlain is better and has a more resinous and long lasting dry down but it is literally a duplicate. That aside, Neroli Amara is a gorgeous Neroli + Tea fragrance. As countless others have written below, it is a cheerful, sunny, happy, citrusy green floral fragrance. I suppose if you like the Guerlain you might think of this as a less expensive alternative (the Guerlain is $265, the VC&A is about $100 or less on discount sites). This scent genre is my jam. I love orange blossom and neroli scents and folding them with tea and resins make them proper perfumes for me. Just gorgeous. They seem effortlessly unisex and perfect for any age and any sort of person. Neroli Amara is doling out the xanax by the spritz! :-)

WOW. What a lovely, breathtaking experience. Unbelievably fresh citrus and white floral blend. Juicy, balanced, effervescent, and not at all too sweet. Very transportive. It took me somewhere balmy and green, a breeze blowing through orange trees and petals in the air. Neroli Amara gave me a dopamine/serotonin boost the instant I sprayed it on. I tried it on a chilly day and love how much it lightened my mood. I can only imagine how refreshing this will be in the heat of summer. An easy reach year round. Not a lot of projection, but enough for me to smell it on myself and keep me and those close to me cheery. Longevity is actually pretty decent for a citrus like this. Unisex, but I think it leans feminine. I sincerely can't imagine anyone not liking this. An instant favorite.

I'm currently wearing Neroli Amara and I really love it. Very fresh and a bit more feminine. I bought this one around Christmas and I loved it, but it felt so fleeting. Now that the weather is hot, this fragrance is much more prominent and the longevity is better. Weirdly enough, every time I'm wearing it and I'm sweating (in a hurry or while working) I get soooo many compliments (my manager literally asked me to buy her a bottle of whatever I'm wearing lol). It's definitely a summer/spring perfume and I can also imagine it on a hot summer night. Overall, very lovely scent, it's definitely worth it if you're into citrusy fragrances and it has signature perfume potential (people in the reviews are right, it is a safe one, but the best way possible imo).

I'm not sure if anyone will get this, but to my nose, NEROLI AMARA smells like Riesling. When you leave a sip overnight in your glass and it's somewhat dried up come morning. It is a lovely light floral, the kind of aromatics you'd get with a Riesling or Sancerre from Alsace, France, where the liquid is yellow and both floral and crisp. It is truly lovely and as floral as it is, mingled with swirls of white crisp wine, it's never headache-inducing or cloying. It's a brunch spent under green awnings in summer whites, where the longevity of the day brings you into the evening hours, when the heels have given way to bare feet on the grass as you find your way home.

A lovely Neroli/Orange Blossom fragrance. Even though you have smelled something similar before, it is done so well that I highly recommend it for people who love Neroli/Orange Blossom, even as a blind buy. For people who are not the biggest fans of this note, I encourage you to give it a try because it is Neroli-centric. Therefore, it lacks this lactonic, honeyed accords that are more associated with orange blossoms, which many people do not like in orange blossoms. Lastly, the Cypress and Pear notes add a nice sweet, woody twist that gives it some uniqueness but does not overtake the main notes.

first impressions: Heavenly! Oh my this is the most natural sweet citrus white floral with a sensual light musky base. I imagine this for a warm night out in Miami to cut through the heat. I usually am not a fan of strong citrus but this citrus is tamed by the most beautiful, natural white florals. I love this collection extraordinaire line! Neroli Amara, Orchidee Vanille and California Reverie are my absolute favorites. edit: actually wore this for a night out in Miami and my partner was TRANSFIXED and offered to buy me a whole bottle...and he's usually very perfume averse

The most complimentary perfume ever. It’s the best perfume for spring/summer. I feel bergamot, neroli and orange blossoms. Easy to wear for everyday , and it has some uniqueness. I have a collections (50+) of much more expensive perfumes with interesting pyramids, and compared to them - this one may seem too plain citrus perfume. But it’s not average - it has magic I can’t explain : every time I wear it I receive a hundreds of compliments. I keep the screenshot of it in my phone, cause every time people are asking the perfume I wear . Highly recommend! 100 of 10!

I was looking for a Neroli perfume,after trying a lot of them and like some of them, The employ told me to try this Neroli Amara . Shocked how beautiful elegant natural smelling it was, next day came and I bought it . Summer fragrance that I use afternoons drinking cold coffe on the ⛱️ . I don't want my perfumes to last more than 4-6 hours because I use different at morning, afternoon and night... So its a negative for me that this last on my skin over 6 hours thankfully it's light not offensive and layering something over it is not a bad idea.

I sprayed this on me in a perfume shop in Sweden and was instantly obsessed! They told me it’s sold out until August!! I went online and found it and got a 20% discount so I got it for such a good price!! It’s so gorgeous. I can see the comparison to valaya but it’s definitely less sharp and less musky - it’s really bright citrus. It’s absolutely gorgeous and it projected off my arm a lot I could smell it just walking around. Now I’m noticing the dry down smells kinda similar to afternoon swim ... which I already own. Oh well still a love :)

About a year ago I saw people raving about it on YT, and tried it, and didn't think of it as anything special. An ok citrus, very tea forward (which I don't really like). Today I tried it out on skin and... I think I unfortunately will have to get a full bottle or at least a huge sample. If you have it - if it's raining, put it on your wrist and go outside, and wait for it to mix with the fresh rainy breeze... It's indescribable. Edit. In the drydown smells EXACTLY like Carner "Bo-bo"

I've had this for about 6-7 years now. It's the one fragrance in my wardrobe that gets everyone (men and women) asking "What is it that you're wearing? I need to get that for myself!". It has an incredible sillage and I would definitely say it's the best neroli scent out there, it has a very comforting vibe to it. Will definitely be getting myself another bottle at some point. I've recently been layering this with Cedrat 37 but it smells amazing by itself regardless.

Neroli Amara is a gorgeous scent🥰. It opens up with three types of citrus which makes the scent sooo refreshing and zingy. However, the heart is very contrasting to the opening with black pepper and cypress, making the scent moore warm and soothing. Then we have the star ingredient in the base.... the orange blossom ....and it ́s just BEAUTIFUL!! This one is really, really beautiful with a botanical vibe to it. It's light and citrysi... just perfect for summer😎
