Orchidée Vanille

Hmm I'm still deciding whether to like this or not. I can smell the vanilla strongly, which is great. And a bit of the orange. In the dry down I can definitely get chocolate notes which I love as well. The only thing is that there is this kind of "gasoline" note in there and that's one of the reasons it kinda reminds me of vanilla woods in a way (b/c I also smelled that same gasoliney smell in VW). Idk, I'm still giving it a chance and see how I like it over time. Everything else is lovely minus that strange note in there. I'll change the review if I end up liking it. Also the price for a full size bottle is bananas for this kind of fragrance. It should be no more than $80. It doesn't smell that luxurious to me. mid-Novermber 2023 Update: I started layering with my favorite vanilla (Fresh Cream Warm Cashmere) and they smell pretty yummy together... Also I've layered it with Giorgio Armani Ocean di Gioia and sometimes Acqua di Gioia (I know, odd combos) but it smells divine, especially with Ocean. These combos drown out the strange gasoline note lol and I don't detect it anymore. It works well with Cheirosa 62 as well. For me anyway! 12/6/2023 Updating once again, for the last time: My "like" for this fragrance has turned into "love". The one note I was previously describing as "gasoliny" is no longer that to me the longer I have worn this and explored the scent. I'm not sure if it was the need for the fragrance to macerate, but that note I once thought of as strange, I believe is the crossing between the citrus and the orange with the floral in between there and as I've discovered the mixture of those specific notes and have been able to identify them properly, I find them well-blended and actually delicious, like the scent of those yummy dark chocolate orange peel candy bars. I think this with the fact that the scent macerated over time has made the notes yummier. I completely change my mind from my initial review. This fragrance has become a keeper.

I have a travel-size sprayer of Orchidée Vanille, not a full-size bottle, but I love its unusual cocoa-laced vanilla fragrance enough that I bought an Oil Perfumery dupe of it to extend the sprays a bit. The OP version is remarkably close, although it performs differently, being an oil--it lasts a lot longer, but it's more linear than the alcohol-based original fragrance is, and consequently perhaps a bit less complex. That said, I'm not sure I would be able to tell them apart during the drydown in a blind sniff test. If Orchidée Vanille has a flaw, it's that it wears very close to the skin. It's not likely to offend others because it's not likely even to register as a fragrance to others--it's quite subtle for a floral vanilla. It's not entirely dissimilar to Dior Addict, only with the volume turned down from eleven to perhaps four, and that's if you're an oversprayer. I like to layer the spray over a bit of the OP "impression" to improve the performance and not use up what remains in my decant with a few wearings. I changed my grade of this from a like to a love and then back to a like because as much as I love this fragrance, I require a bit more assertiveness in my perfumes. I'm not saying it ought to project like Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant or even like pre-reformulation Dior Addict, but I do think Orchidée Vanille would have a higher ranking than even its impressive 4.27 if it sang a little more loudly. To quote the late genius Scott Miller of Game Theory, "I've tried subtlety before/And I will not anymore." Update: Just read from another reviewer below, who called the company, that this and all the other fragrances in this line are being discontinued. Pick up the Oil Perfumery dupe if you can't find the real thing--or even if you can. It's remarkably accurate, and it wears better.P Update: It's apparently NOT discontinued.

@BlessedBlossom I disagree :/ nothing very smokey. I love how Orchidee Vanille is though, Celine Black Tie is also a vanilla but has orris and moss which is what I think can make it lean masculine on me sometimes whereas with Orchidee Vanille, there is no chance of it doing that- also in Orchidee Vanille there is the orange and chocolate combination that makes it slighty more gourmand. Maybe the smokiness you find is from the cedarwood that both of these perfumes have! (I own both, but I wear Orchidee Vanille far more) Also; it breaks my heart a little to see quite a few people complain about not smelling enough from this fragrance- I want to say that because of many fragrance houses coming out with perfumes with extreme projection and sillage, we have much less sensitivity in our noses to how strong a scent actually is- someone who doesn't wear fragrances at all said that this was all they could smell for a while when I sprayed it on myself in front of them. To me personally it has been helpful to alternate between wearing my frags of different strengths, and wearing the stronger ones further away from my face, OR try not to sniff it up close incredibly often; because I become fairly nose blind to any perfume scent if I smell it too much. I don't think not becoming a little nose blind to certain notes is possible unfortunately. I like fragrance houses that concentrate on developing and using the best ingredients, and not create so many sillage bombs, because it just seems to desensitise our noses more and more. However, I appreciate having more sillage with some fragrances, and some with more intimate projection.

So my opinion of this scent LARGELY differs when I was wearing it via decant, and via full bottle. From the decant (still a spray), I experienced UBER SWEETNESS - sweetness that was all toothache, as delicious as it was! Pure vanilla/chocolate, sweet floral orchid thrown in, with slightly bitter almonds and sugar. A gourmand, but of cupcake sweetness, slightly lacking refinement. From the bottle, I had a totally different experience, and one I much prefer! After the initial spray, I was met with a surprising cream-soda accord! Followed by the most delicious combination of dark chocolate, vanilla & mandarin - full of depth, and while it was sweet, it was a very round and gentle sweetness, not cloying at all. As the perfume dried down, I went through the soft orchid, almond, and frosting that I had known before - but instead of a sharp, birthday cake frosting, this was a dense, rich buttercream frosting that you can only find on the dessert table of a black-tie event in a swanky mansion. Heavenly. I always receive a staggering amount of compliments when I wear this, because it's vanilla done differently! A wondrous comfort fragrance, gourmand but not overly so; sweet, but balanced with other accords; enough sillage & longevity to keep you satisfied throughout the day, but not overwhelming. One of the perfect scents in my wardrobe, and if you are a gourmand lover - this is a must try!! After Shalimar Parfum Initial was discontinued, I wanted to conserve my bottles & backups for special occasions, and I had to find a new scent to become my signature! Orchidee Vanille is that scent, I think.

I threw this into a mix of vanilla based decants a while ago and remember feeling underwhelmed by it. I think all I caught on the first spray was the florals, and I'm not a big floral fan. I was also in that big vanilla mindframe so I put the decant out of view. Until this morning. On a whim, I gave myself a spray of Orchidee Vanille before a work out, figuring I'll be showering it off soon enough if I couldn't stand the floral. But WOW! I don't know why but it just really spoke to me this morning. All the notes worked in harmony. The vanilla was there but also the florals, but not in a dominant way which suits me. Based on the notes, this in theory should have been a slam dunk from the first spray but it took a neutral mindset with the second spray to really appreciate it. It's amazing and I'm just about to pull the trigger on a full bottle. I daresay it will be a daily wear. It's present but not screaming for attention. It has the 'Ahhhh' deliciousness of vanilla I get from Kayali Vanilla 28 but with so much more complexity and sophistication in execution. I'm definitely in love. Edit - Still in love, but worked out why. It has some similarity in dry-down to Vuitton's Contre Moi which has sadly been discontinued and is a firm favourite of mine. There's a faire few shared notes so not too surprising. To be honest, Orchidee Vanille doesn't have the performance of Contre Moi but it's easier to wear. Full bottle on the way!

☕🧸🧺🪵‧+ ̊ ☁️🍮 🍰 . 𖦹 ̇— Marzipan, vanilla extract, frosting, dry flowers and powdered sugar. FINALLY! Something to bite into. Just gourmand enough to satisfy me, quiet enuogh to not overwhelm me in warmer weather, loud enough so I know its there, nuanced enough to amuse me and - most importantly - I just like it. A vanilla for ladies that want more than one layer to their vaniilla experience. Has a strong note of marzipan and powdered sugar, somwhat similarly to Dama Bianca, but much better in execution. The orchid and almond really tie it together with the powdery notes. A powdery, very dusty vanilla extract I enjoy. Nourishing, sweet, sugary, but complex composition - bitter from dusty cyanide and powdery orchids. So powdery sweet its almost creamy. Its reminiscent of Le Labo Vanille 44 or Serge Lutens compositions, but this is much, much better. Like SDJ 59 grew up, got more complex and was made with better ingredients. Technically inedible, but incredible. I feel like this might be the endgame vanilla for me. Its so nice, elegant and enveloping. Feels like the inside of a clean, high class cookie tin. Like a french cake shop that serves delicate marzipan cakes enveloped with vanilla frosting and black tea on the side. I keep wanting lick the invisible frosting off my hand, while never feeling cheap or too agressive. Its not too loud, but it is STRONG and lasts 24h on me. Absolutely. Amazing. ☕🧸🧺🪵‧+ ̊ ☁️🍮 🍰 . 𖦹 ̇—

Orchidée Vanille from the Collection Extraordinaire by Van Cleef & Arpels is a small masterpiece of balance. Despite the name, don't expect a synthetic vanilla "bomb" or a purely floral perfume. It's a grown-up vanilla, dusty and airy. The opening is amazing. Mandarin and litchi do not make the perfume fruity in the classic sense, but they give an immediate brightness that prevents the fragrance from being heavy. It's like a ray of sunshine breaking through a cloud of powdered sugar. The bitter almond is the true protagonist of the central phase. It goes well with violet to create a "make-up" or luxury powder effect. The Bulgarian rose remains in the background, giving body and a velvety structure without ever dominating the scene. The finish is where the magic happens. Vanilla absolute is not the one found in baked desserts; it's dark, botanical and deepened by tonka bean. The cedar wood prevents everything from becoming too "edible", keeping the scent on extremely classy tracks. Refined, romantic, reassuring. It is the perfume of those who don't need to scream to be noticed. Moderate sillage. It is a "skin" fragrance, which creates an intimate aura around the wearer. Orchidée Vanille is the ideal choice if you love gourmand perfumes but are looking for something more sophisticated and less "teen". It is a luxurious pampering, a perfume that smells of clean, good and noble.

I got a 2 ml sample based on reviews and because I was looking for good vanilla scents to add to my collection. Personally I didn't like it at first. When I first sprayed it like two spritzes I could barely smell anything, just some alcoholic vanilla smell, so I went back and read the reviews and I didn't get what everyone was raving about. Like what are people talking about? I don't smell anything. I mean I caught a whiff of something faint, very faint, but to my untrained nose it was barely there so I wrote it off and put it away. But later after I showered at night I decided to give it another try and I really had to spray a lot to smell it without having to bring my nose to my skin. The dry down was the best part, about 30 - 45 after spraying. After it settled it became a very soft light floral cocoa vanilla. So soft, so delicate, so beautiful, very close to skin, but it's there for sure, I get whiffs of it once in a while but I don't smell it for the most part, but it's absolutely gorgeous. The problem is the price. If I have to spray it like I do a body spray rather than a perfume, I'd be going through bottles so fast, so please if anyone is trying to get rid of this perfume I'd love to take it off your hands, I'm willing to pay up to $150 for a used bottle, I can't afford the full price

I bought a full bottle right away after just spraying the sample vial once (literally once). I don’t suggest you do the same, but I don’t regret my decision at all. It smells linear to me, but that’s the way I like it. From initial spray to dry down I get light and airy, clean and soft, and gourmand but not cloying goodness! What surprised me about spraying it liberally on myself is the soapiness I get from it. It has the most delicate touch of Chanel No. 5 EDP, and it has this slight white hot chocolate/Dama Bianca effect, which I’m guessing is from the violet and vanilla combination, but it’s not dense. The mandarin cuts through whatever sweetness the tonka gives, and it doesn’t smell mature or dusty. It’s a classy and ethereal scent. In case anyone was interested, I also got Goutal Nuit et Confidences because I heard these two smelled similar to Guerlain SDV. I still have to smell SDV fully, but this and Nuit et Confidences don’t smell similar to my nose (although the same vibe). NEC smells more like Diptyque Eau Duelle and has more spice. This smells more elegant; NEC is also elegant, but it feels a little edgier because of the spices.

This is such a great allround perfume. I can't imagine why anyone would hate this. It's not so close to skin that nobody notices you're wearing it, and it's not so loud that people will be bothered by it. It's sweet and floral, so it's not too sweet for those who dislike sweetness and it's not too floral for those who dislike very floral scents. It's not at all boring yet it's not particularly original either. It suits every single occasion and season. Like, to me this is a timeless masterpiece and a perfume I would feel extremely safe gifting to nearly every woman, even someone I don't know that well. It definitely leans more feminine, but everyone can wear it in my opinion. Someone I know who is incredibly sensitive to perfumes and who ends up eventually getting overwhelmed and disliking nearly every single perfume she or I tries, Orchidée Vanille is the only one she actually asks to borrow from me whenever she wants to wear a perfume. She said it can be a little too much when spraying more than one spray on her neck, but other than that even she loves it which is kinda surprising to me since she doesn't love perfumes lmao.

I did not need another vanilla perfume, but along came Orchidee Vanille and changed my mind! What I appreciate about OV is the interesting twist on a vanilla perfume. It flirts with the gourmand nature of vanilla, there is sweetness but it isn't a cake or cookie type of sweetness. There is creaminess, but not an ice cream type, but a floral creaminess. You think you smell orchid, but I believe it is violets that from most of the floral heart. Another trick of this fragrance. There is lightness in the beginning, a focus on the sheer aspects of vanilla. A play on orchids. The perfume dries down heavier, grounded in almonds, bitter chocolate, tonka, and musk. It is unlike any other vanilla fragrance I have tried, it is a shapeshifter and a big flirt. I had to add it to my collection just for its uniqueness and its loveliness. It is not a sillage monster, but one that you catch whiffs of all day long. It draws you in, asks you to come a little bit closer. The longevity is good, at least 8 hours on me. And it beckons to the husband, even after a long day, to extend the kiss a little longer...

Such a paradox, this one. The juice in my travel sprayer, which is tragically waning apace, has turned so dark that it's nearly black, but the fragrance is as light and evanescent as ever, like a tender cloud composed of vanilla-soaked petals. Scentwise, it was gorgeous when I obtained it, and even more so now. To make it last, I layer it with the actually quite good Oil Perfumery impression, but I think it's actually quite tenacious even on its own. Although the citrus top notes and cedary base notes are perceptible at all stages, this is mostly about the delicate florals and pillowy pastry vanillas. I do get some almond, in the tonka bean and the bitter almond note, but it's not as overpowering as it is in, say, Hypnotic Poison. It's more of a marzipan effect that enriches the vanilla. One thing I really like about this fragrance is that it leans slightly more floral than gourmand, even though I can already predict that my husband will ask what's baking when he comes home, only to be disappointed by a cold, empty oven.

I put off trying this one for a long time because I didn't expect to really like it based on the notes. Vanilla is my favorite perfume note and I've bought so many out there. There are so many beautiful vanillas, like Dama Bianca, Fire at Will, and Vanille Planifolia 21, but I had landed with my top 2 vanilla perfumes being a tie between Gioiosa and Tihota. When I finally tried this one, I was blown away. This is the most incredible vanilla perfume I have ever smelled! I'm not even kidding when I say that I immediately went back and ordered a full bottle as soon as I smelled the sample. It is such a soft, feminine, romantic, gorgeous vanilla and a HUGE compliment getter. I have several hundred bottles of perfume and this is my fave, as well as my husband's fave for me to wear. It's very office friendly for day time, but is also a beautiful night time fragrance as well. It's really suitable for any season and any occasion. I've been searching for a signature scent for a long time and I finally found it in this fragrance!

This fragrance has been with me almost my entire scent journey. It was one of the first “expensive vanillas” I ever bought. To my baby palette at the time, I couldn’t get the individual notes; I just knew it was a beautiful vanilla. Sunny, somehow, sparkly. “Powdery” the way fresh fallen snow under a blue sky would be called “powder”- but not a cold scent. Now I’m on my second bottle and 5-7 years in. The sparkly, sunny quality I felt years ago I can now identify as the juicy mandarin and litchi. The violet and almond lend that airy fluffy texture one could read as powdery. I don’t feel the rose at all, which I don’t mind. And that VANILLA is so creamy, like gelato- but still not cold feeling. This is a masterpiece fragrance to me. A truly special vanilla. It’s true, I definitely wish it was just a liiiiiittle stronger, but it’s just so beautiful. Like a pearl, softly stunning and delicate. If the month of June was a fragrance. 🍊✨🍨🌸🍦

Frothy and light, a creme brulee of a scent, Bringing hours and hours of perfect content. The orchid so soft , the musk just a kiss, If you're fond of vanille, this is one not to miss. An aura surrounding you with beautiful light, A fragrance that always feels just right. People will make excuses to hug you when you wear this. Not only because it smells good but because it wears close. The orchid really brings this to life without overtaking it. Completely edible and yet not too sweet, it is both sexy and innocent. It literally brings a sense of light to the atmosphere. This is such an easy fragrance to wear and the ingrediants are obviously of quality. It's work appropriate and absolutely seasonless. Perfect for brunch, church, sporting events, movies, anything with close quarters. You'll be discreet but you'll also most likely smell better than anyone else. I treasure my bottle and would buy another. A definate winner.......

The smell of this is divine but, overall, underwhelming and underperforming. I get the fruity notes at first spray, quickly followed by a bit of the florals. Then, the wear is mostly floral until the chocolate and tonka emerge. When the scent is all but gone, you get a whiff of the vanilla and musk. Sillage is practically non-existent as I had to press my nose to my wrist to even track it. Granted, I only did two dabs from my sample on each wrist to try it but, for the price of a full bottle, I would expect this to perform much better. The longevity is lacking as well. The fragrance itself is absolutely lovely, but I feel like I'd have to overspray for it to be anything but subtle. I would accept this as a gift but probs won't buy it myself due to its performance. ***EDIT:*** I've decided this smells so good that I do not care—I will be buying a full bottle. I can't stop thinking about this, I'm going insane.

One of my favourite perfumes ever. This is such a beautiful elegant understated luxurious vanilla. I don't like heavy or sweet perfumes, prefering more close to skin types even for gourmands but this is ultimately smooth and not cloying at all. I've been wearing this everyday for the past few days straight- layering with diff. scents based on the weather and it seems to blend wonderfully. I thought the projection was quite weak but my husband said it was very strong even after a few hours even giving him a headache! On fabric it certainly lasts longer. I myself am very sensitive to certain notes too but this perfume I definitely can tolerate - I cannot stop wearing it , it's become my signature scent. I can smell some dark chocolate here but cannot detect much citrus. It was a blind buy but was very worth it.

Cute, light, beautiful vanilla. I love the powdered chocolate note, even though usually I hate chocolate (or gourmands other than vanilla, for that matter) But regardless of how good it is, it's not something that matches my usual vibe, so I don't see myself reaching for this enough to excuse the expensive pricetag where I live, and the lack of longevity certainly doesn't help. If I ever get to see this on about half price it's going around here, I'd consider, but not fbw for now, for me. Definitely would recommend for someone that enjoys more closer to the skin sillage and doesn't mind applying the fragrance again throughout the day, or that gets tired of wearing the same scent for too many hours. But whenever I wore this and people got close enough for hugs I got compliments, so very likable.

FINALLY a TRUE gourmand Vanilla (sans musk base notes), with depth of an opening in mandarin, and litchi heart notes. The tonka makes it both modernly boozy and a bit chocolatey but not in a way that it overwhelms the core vanilla, while the rose gives its luxury reminiscent of an old school Lancôme gourmand. The only drawback to this fragrance may be its relatively intimate projection--if only because I really need to spritz a lot of this precious fragrance if I want others to get to enjoy it on me. As I have been saving the last drops of this fragrance because I have been unable to replenish my stock nor find anything remotely comparable, I now wear in in my inner wrist as a treat to myself and take a sniff at is so often throughout the day.

A steady love, it has followed me from the beginning of my fragrance collection to now, 5 years later! My ultimate comfort, my forever love 😂🥹 it has outlasted the pandemic, a boyfriend and a situationship. So tender, elegant, gourmand, cocooning. This is the one perfume where other peoples’ negative opinions could never change mine, I don’t think I’ve found any other perfume that I like as much as this one! Chocolate-orange when I’m nose blind, chocolate-orange-rose-almondy vanilla when I’m not! I took a small break from it at times but I never doubted my love for it. I love the scent so much that I don’t care about it’s usually intimate sillage, overspraying seems to do the trick.

EDIT: I was having a hard time finding a second bottle so I emailed Van Cleef and Arpels and they replied on Jan 29, 2024 and said "as of now all of our fragrances have been permanently discontinued." So if you like this one, find a back up bottle. It doesn’t last forever since it’s a bit of a soft scent but I love catching whiffs on my sweater. I blind bought this with zero regrets. This has become a super easy reach scent for me and it’s an absolute love!

This afterthought sample went from like to love after a few hours of wear. I threw it in since I have seen it mentioned so many times in different articles. I’m not someone who is generally drawn to vanilla based perfumes. This however... is fantastic. I have recently taken a turn to loving powder in my scents and between the powdery chocolate mixing with the tonka and almond it’s hitting just right. The vanilla is sweet but not overly so. I can sense the flowers and musk (not so much the fruits) but they seem be there to support the vanilla cocoa dust thing this has going. I will be looking into purchasing if I finish my sample and still feel the same.

This may be one of the best vanillas out there, only if it wasn't so damn subdued! It just pains me, I really don't understand why VCA does all their perfumes like this. The quality is top notch, smells luxurious and sophisticated. It's a rich vanilla orangey-chocolate scent that stays too close to the skin. No projection whatsoever and need to stick my nose into it to smell it. I over spray the heck out of it, but it's just not made to project! I don't want it to fill a room, but i need a moderate performance at least. I own several of this house and I really like most of them, but I'm done with these non existent scents.

Airy vanilla, almonds and violets. Fluffy, sweet and magical. Fit for an entire year if you like vanilla. It is both sweet and light, warm and dry. I think it is similar to my beloved Vanilla Fields that in childhood I gifted to my Mother. I loved it so. My husband noticed it trailing after me, sweet like candy floss. Very beautiful. I love scents from this Van Cleef&Arpels collection. This has a good presence on me despite being on the light side. It is not a heavy blend. I feel suspended in a multifaceted sweet vanilla-almond-violet cloud. Upping it to love for how gorgeous it smells this cool summer evening. Lasts well.

It has a gently bright opening from the litchi/citrus, it's well blended. The florals are there, but again, not individual, just adding pepper and depth of scent to the pot. Then at its mid and dry down, it's a soft, creamy, (maybe lightly powdery) deep and woody vanilla. Mine is over 10 years old, so the vanilla has macerated into something incredibly rich and resinous (but never sweet/cloying). I think this is a super sophisticated and completely unisex fragrance that everyone. It's fairly linear, it's pretty wonderful stuff (if you're interest falls near tobacco vanilla warmth or spiritueuse double vanille depth).

It's my latest big crush, I fell in love with this gorgeous musky exotic vanilla. Already having compliments from it, it's not too sweet, a very natural and super longlasting touch of vanilla, close to the skin. It's not a complicated fragrance, it's simply beautiful, really what I want to smell in a special occasion, I finally got my hands on it and will love it for a long long period! LOVE at first sniff! The notes listed in the website of Van Cleef & Arpels are: mandarin, litchi, bitter almond, chocolate, Bulgarian rose, violet, vanilla, cedar wood, tonka bean and musk. EDIT: it was the perfume of my wedding day!

I love this perfume. It is a subtle powdery Vanilla. I don't mean baby powder, I just mean light and airy. It is not your standard sweet chantilly cream vanilla we get from so many of the vanillas seen today. To my nose I get a light citrus in the top, and in the dry down a base of vanilla, tonka and a hint of almond. The only problem...It is incredibly light and does not last on skin. You will need to reapply and and/or spray a lot on your clothes. If that deters you from paying the hefty price, I suggest checking discounter websites. The bottle is beautiful and I am happy to have it in my collection.

BLIND BOUGHT: Initially this smells like Flowers and orange to my nose, it's been 30 minutes since the initial spritz, and it is powdery flower and orange, of course there is some of the vanilla too Also, zero projection, even after the initial spritz it is a skin scent on me, which I don't mind tbh. Surprisingly linear. The next day it smells like milk chocolate. After 2 years: The juice gets very dark and the sent is now a very boozy vanilla, boozy in the sense of high alcohol content in the perfume coming through - reminiscent of pure vanilla extract. Also to my taste much too sweet at this point.

Such a lovely sent. It is like a warm needed hug from a person you love and miss <3 The mandarin and vanilla combo is just heavenly. The scent is true to the notes listed, but the way everything is blended is magic and pure art. Now, about performance, it is weak indeed but not that weak. I can smell it on myself within the first hour, then it becomes very intimate, but does not disappear. I honestly wish it was stronger but I am totally fine with what it is, I just overspray and enjoy. I think this performance suits the perfume's personality, it does not scream for attention.

To me this smells like the scented "little pony" dolls I had as a child and it transports me back to the smells of the toys of a childhood in the 80ies and had me Google those pony dolls to see if they still existed. That was definitely a positive impression, like a happy memory. And it doesn't make the scent any less elegant. It is not very loud, but also more than a scone scent. I have a couple of scents that fall into a similar category, perfect for every day, immediately making you feel really polished and refined. I can see getting this to become part of my collection.

So pretty, unique, and elegant. It smells exactly like dark cocoa powder and oranges which is why I know that this is good because I usually hate both of those things. The vanilla serves as the great equalizer and really balances out the sharpness of the orange and the powdery elements of the dark chocolate. I couldn’t imagine anyone not liking this, I think it’s universally beautiful. Not too sweet, sits close to the skin, and very addictive. It’s not too much of anything, each note is playing its equal part. I just wish it wasn’t so light and projected more.

Really gorgeous blend of a flirty floral violet and a yummy smooth vanilla. It smells both light and rich. Its gorgeous, bought in the latest round of samples I added it to my cart last minute only curious to try it as I've heard it mentioned a lot. I used to wear Guerlain insolence (about 10 years ago) and the first sniff took me right back to that, but its quite different apart from the Violet. Borderline a masterpiece for my personal tastes. I got 5 hours of great longevity and another 2-3 of faint lingering smell, not amazing but also not terrible.

There’s a slight spiciness to it. It’s a sophisticated vanilla. Very well blended. Update: 11/20/2024. I sprayed this again today, and it is quite nice. I like that it is not a creamy vanilla. It is a classy perfume that is timeless and elegant. Update: 12/25/2024. This is so so good. My partner loves it, too. I put this on yesterday evening on my clothes. The day after, I could still smell it, and the lingering smell is different but really good in a mellow way with time. This is definitely one of the best, if not the best, vanillas. Divine.

This fragrance is exquisite. On me, it is a perfect crowd pleaser that I could wear to work without worrying that it feels offensive. It reminds me of being wrapped in a warm cashmere blanket. And having a nice weight on your body. There are soft floral and even softer fruity elements but they don’t fight for attention. They just brighten up the warm tones of the scent so that it leans more feminine. I think a man could still easily pull this off, but there is a beautiful lightness that makes me feel like a woman when I wear this.

Oh my, this is so beautiful! I thought that after Vanille Planifolia all other vanillas were dead to me, but I was wrong. This is one of the loveliest vanilla fragrances I have tested. Lychee is voted rather low, but this is what I smell the most after vanilla - sweet, slightly tart, gelatinous lychee + just a tiny hint, a whisper of a violet. Gorgeous, elegant, refined to perfection. A masterpiece, in my humble opinion. Exceptionally suitable for work, which is very important to me, very intimate projection, yet great longevity.

My dad even leaned in and asked, “Are you wearing cacao?” I can’t blame him—I’m wrapped in layers of white and milk chocolate, dusted with a powdery cocoa sweetness and brightened by a hint of chocolate orange. It’s incredibly comforting: those first two to three hours are pure heaven. Despite its gourmand heart, this scent never feels too edible, all thanks to a subtle orchid note that keeps it light and sophisticated. The only downside? Its fleeting nature—I wish those heavenly hours lasted longer.

This is the most beautiful, well blended masterpiece. This sits so well on my skin, lasts all day and just has me stunned at how gorgeous this is. I purchased from Selfridges and it is worth every dollar. I have been chasing something just as good and alas, no matter the sample, no matter the purchase, nothing compares and I don’t think it ever will. Given how much I have already used it won’t be long until I buy another bottle. May they never discontinue this fragrance!!

Light, airy, very wearable vanilla. It changes very little in the beginning, and after the first 30 minute it is pretty linear. I get the violet and the rose very little in the opening, and then it becomes a beautiful vanilla with light generic flowers. I love it, it is a nice change from the very heavy and synthetic vanilllas that are everywhere lately. I feel like I don't need Spiritueuse Double Vanille anymore. This one gives me the same fuzzy feeling.

This perfume hasn't received lots of hype and that's ok. I like it! This is a light gourmand that isn't syrup. The vanilla and the Tonka with the floral notes are wonderfully done. I've received many compliments. I do apply a few extra misty throughout the day. I layer that with various perfume and body oils to help with the longevity and projection - usually BSB Caked Up and Cream Dela Cream. I'm going to try more fragrances from the line.

I tried this before and hated it, but have tried it since and have fallen in love - this smells like chocolate orange and then melts down to the warmest, most delicious vanilla I have ever tried. This is amazing and smells so much better on skin than it does on a tester strip. It lasts an absolute age and the projection is great but won't suffocate the people around you. The orange is done so well in this, it's not synthetic at all.

This is such a gorgeous perfume—exactly what I’d imagine an elegant gourmand to smell like. It strikes the perfect balance: not too mature, but not juvenile either. To me, it smells like an expensive orange-chocolate bonbon, with a blend of vanilla, chocolate, florals, and fruit that’s simply exquisite. This blend is simply remarkable, hands-down one of the most memorable perfumes I’ve tested in a long time!

Wow, I did not think I would find something I love as much as SDV and Black Tie. This is beautiful. Such an easy wear anytime. This is definitely different than SDV and Black TIe but they are all on the same playground. I have SDV and use it like a precious commodity and have been hoping to buy BT when back in stock, after sampling. I am not sure I need BT anymore, this is gorgeous.

This to me smells like lemon cream wafers in the opening then classic vanilla wafers.. I like it a lot. However, it’s so faint.. from the bottle, I can’t smell anything and on my skin I need to sniff it very closely to get something. I will say I do get whiffs of it throughout the day so I’m gonna let it sit for a while and see if performance improves a bit..

This is soft, a little cool in the opening (the violet?), & almost somewhat withdrawn which lends it elegance. It's interesting, understated, not sickly sweet at all. Wrap yourself in white cashmere or down, head outside where it's light & airy with a dusting of icing sugar snow underfoot. The vanilla warms as you wear it. The ice queen melts. Just lovely.

I love this perfume. It has lasted on me all day. Feminine... not overwhelmingly vanilla as with other vanilla scents that I’ve tried. Even though I selected this as an Autumn scent I will wear it anytime I want a lovely perfume that doesn’t rock the room but makes me think it can take me anywhere, day or night. I’m adding it to my list of favorites.

This could honestly go either way - every time I've sampled it it's either smelled hypnotic and beautiful, or like a nursing home with no in between. This is definitely a more 'mature' fragrance and I just don't know how I feel about it. Interesting? The projection is massive and it lasts forever. I don't think I would buy a bottle.

My decant and the one I tried in the store smell sooo much creamier and smoother. I bought a full bottle and now I’m mainly getting violet, rose and mandarin with cocoa which is not blending well. It’s powdery with a Turkish delight-type sweetness which I’m not loving. Shame. Hopefully it ages and changes to what I fell for

Smells so powdery and sweet! Smells incredible layered over with brown sugar babes hot chocolate — the first time I tried it originally pulled too green and floral on my skin, but maybe consider layering with more vanilla and sweetness if you had the same issue. Super sweet yet soft, can’t wait to wear it everyday
