Rose Rouge

I got it in the mail today, I sprayed it and... it was instant LOVE, on its way to becoming one of my all-time favorites. For the record, I'm generally a lover of all rose-based fragrances, and I have a thing for the rose-rasperry combo. I especially enjoy chocolate, cacao and hazelnut spread notes, so this sounded right up my alley. When I saw it heavily discounted... it had to be mine! 😍 So let's get right down to it: PERFORMANCE. Now: I don't know if I'm the lucky one who happens to have a bottle from the good batches (it would surprise me, I actually bought a heavily discounted bottle), but performance on my skin - and on clothes - IS unexpectedly GOOD! 💪 I realize that for most people it was not the case; but as for me, I sprayed 6 times (which is quite generous, I'll grant that: 2x on the neck, 2x on decollté and 2x on my wrist), ...and after 4+ hours I could still get whiffs of it WHILE WEARING A MASK at the supermarket. Now, after 7+ hours, I can still smell it on my skin and on the bathrobe I was wearing when I first sprayed it. I don't know about you, but I consider this really good performance! Sillage and projection are not beast mode (thank god for that), but considering that I could smell it through the mask, I would say that you can at least perceive it at arm's length. I can't say much to the compliments factor because I was all by myself, but I'll update the review once I get any comments. What I am not particularly fond of, though... are the opening notes, with a VERY predominant pink pepper, which smells too aromatic and spicy for my taste. It's well made though, it feels as if I was in a kitchen, smelling freshly grounded pepper and sage (yes, I smell a lot of sage too!). I could visualize my parents' kitchen and with a pot full of stew boiling, and my parents adding the final touch with fresh sage and pepper. Yes, it was THAT visual 😅 (and strong, as a smell). Luckily, that fades relatively quickly, I would say after 30-45 minutes, making space to my favorite chocolate and gourmand notes, so it doesn't bother me too much. 🍫 As for the rose, it's much, MUCH more predominant in the dry-down, and the pleasant smell lingers for quite a while. 🌹 I can see where the comparisons with Delina 🌸 and Delina Exclusif 🌸 are coming from, but to me the fragrances are still quite distinct and different, mainly due to Rose Rouge's spiciness and its gourmand notes. If you like rose, it's worth owning both. I would say that Delina (OG and Exclusif) and Rose Rouge are similar ONLY if we exclusively compare their dry-down phases (e.g. in both Rose Rouge and Delina Exclusif's dry down you get a similar vanilla vibe, to name one). If I had to pick one, with me being a gourmand lover, I would definitely choose Rose Rouge over the two Delinas, because it has that kick of chocolate in the middle notes that makes it sexy, more complex and less linear than Delina, but it also has that fabulous vanillic, rosey, raspberry-filled dry-down. I'm in love! 📅 In terms of versatility, I would use it all year round and all times of day. The raspberry makes it fresh enough for daytime, but then chocolate and vanilla make it suitable for nighttime. I can see it performing well in cold and in warm climates, maybe sprayed a little lightly in the latter case, but otherwise its versatility is another plus. All in all, it's hard to go wrong with this fragrance and if you like rose, it's quite a safe blind-buy, as long as you don't mind the spicy opening and the gourmand middle notes. If you enjoyed Angel Muse because of the hazelnut note, but you think it's too strong, then this could be an alternative. Also, if you don't like Angel Muse because of patchuoli, but like the hazelnut and chocolate (and rose), you could try this one, I'm pretty sure it won't disappoint you. 😊

I have had excellent luck with the van Cleef & Arples Extrordinaire line. Rose Rouge might be my favourite. It is a dark, sweet, rich, red rose...one of my favourite types of fragrances. I always find the rose/raspberry combo so appealing. Here the opening is more rose forward. Here the rose is rich, sweet and jammy and a bit boozy with some brightness from the bergamot that keeps the sweetness from being too heavy. As it dries down the raspberry is more discernible instead of just making the rose jammy. Once it fully dries on the skin it is a warm, spiced rosy vanilla and the raspberry fades away. For me, this is a sexy feminine, nighttime fragrance. Suitable for a date night or a night out when the evening is a bit cooler. I find Rose Rouge never feels heavy or cloying and have worn it on a mild summer night and it was never suffocating. It's not the most unique scent profile and smells a bit like a couple other fragrances in my collection. It has a similar profile to Roses Vanille but Rose Rouge is much smoother and easier to wear. The rose is similar to that in Lush Rose Jam, but this one is more complex and interesting. There is a more distant similarity to Lancome Roses Berberanza, the rose and spiced vanilla base are quite similar, but the Lancome fragrance has strong nutty notes that Rose Rouge does not. I like Roses Berberanza in colder weather and Rose Rouge in more moderate temperatures. Even though Rose Rouge is not unique, it is one of the nicer of the fragrances with similar scent profiles and if I could only have on I would probably chose Rose Rouge. The performance is pretty solid.I has fairly strong projection for 3-4 hours, but then settles quite close to the skin for the rest of the wear. Although it stays fairly soft it lasts all day, at least 10 hours on skin. I can smell it on clothing the nest day. I love the presentation of this line. The bottles are simple and elegant and everything about them feel of good quality. The box is sturdy and attractive enough to display. The retail price is a bit on the steep side but not unreasonable for this line. The Collection Extrordinaire can often be faound at discounters for about half the price and are excellent value at that price.

I was negatively disposed toward Rose Rouge before I tested it: I read that this one replaced Rouge Velours, which I recently tested and liked very much, and which in my opinion didn't need replacing. But having tested this one, I have to say it's even better, and although it's still a shame about Rose Velours, this is the one I would have kept in my collection if I had to choose only one as well. I always love a good gourmand rose, and this just might be the ultimate one for me. It's just as soft and luscious as Rose Velours, with the same wonderful, realistic, deep red rose at its heart, but this one is less green and instead fruitier and sweeter and more overtly gourmand. It smells just absolutely delicious, and super well balanced: the lovely jammy rose/berry combination is perfectly complemented by the more powdery sweetness of cacao and vanilla, and the woody base keeps the gourmand aspect from going overboard without being too obtrusive in itself. That's the most admirable thing about this fragrance: despite it being one of the most delicious scents I've ever smelled, it's restrained enough that I could wear it almost anywhere including professional settings, and in almost any type of weather, without it becoming overwhelming. I love Lancôme's rose gourmands, for instance, and this one is indeed a little reminiscent of those, but they could easily feel much too conspicuous for some context, and on a warm day they could easily become too much. That's much less the case for this softer, subtler, friendlier rose: the only time I wouldn't consider it is during the hottest days of summer. So I have to say I just love Rose Rouge - I'm so glad I have a big decant in my collection, and I wouldn't be surprised if it turned into a big bottle at some point!

This is great! I get rose in the opening followed by a slightly sweet-spicy warm smell which I later realised must be the cacao. After a few minutes the blackcurrant comes out and gives the scent a really nice tart fruity aspect. Blackcurrant has such a distinctive smell as a perfume note and it is a note I don't always get along with - for instance I sampled Miller Harris' Cassis en Feuille a while ago and did not like the cassis note in there at all. I also never much liked Hermes' Amazone which I think has cassis in it as well. But I recently came across L'Ombre Dans L'Eau and there I could finally appreciate it. Anyway, to come back to Rose Rouge, here I do really like the blackcurrant note - perhaps because it's the fruit and not the blackcurrant leaf? Or maybe it's just the combination with the other notes. Who knows. All I know is that I really like this fragrance. It's a beautiful combination of rose, blackcurrant and cacao, with a little undercurrant of benzoin to give it a sweetness and roundness. I'm not generally the hugest fan of gourmand fragrances but this seems to give off a sort of semi-gourmand vibe to me, with the combination of the slight sweetness, the chocolatey base of the cacao and the slightly fruity blackcurrant. It makes me want to eat one of those fancy dark chocolate and raspberry brownies that you might find in an expensive patisserie.

I recently had the opportunity to sample a delightful rose perfume in a reputable store in central London, and I must say, it's seriously tempting me to make a new addition to my collection. This fragrance is a beautiful homage to the classic rose, with a scent that vividly reminds me of Bulgarian roses, old rose varieties, and the enchanting rose gardens of Monsifot and France. However, it's important to note that this isn't a purely rose perfume. It's a skillfully blended fragrance where the rose note takes center stage, but it's not the sole performer. The rose is clear and distinct, but it's part of a harmonious ensemble that makes the overall scent truly captivating. As for the authenticity of the perfume, I can vouch for the one I tried in the London store. However, I can't speak for the originality of perfumes sold on websites like FragranceNet. After experiencing some surprisingly good replicas of Deptique perfumes from China, it does make me question the authenticity of businesses selling small tester sizes like 2ml or 5ml (not original testers made by the brand). In conclusion, this rose perfume is a delightful blend that rose lovers should definitely consider. Just be sure to purchase from a trusted source to ensure you're getting the genuine product.

I have always wanted to try this perfume and it doesn’t disappoint. Love at first sniff! This could easily be a signature scent. Firstly, I am not a fan of roses as it comes across too dominant, powdery and mature so it’s rare for me to fully enjoy a perfume with a prominent rose. This perfume has a light, youthful, playful and slightly sweet rose blended with the blackcurrant juice to perfection its smooth and sophisticated, not jammy nor sugary just lightly sweetened. There’s no raspberries in here so it’s not sticky. There is something sensual about it and I think it’s the cocoa and vetiver in the base with the musk and a tinge of a very clean patchouli. I don’t like patchouli so I’m glad it’s not prominent nor detectable in here. This is not a gourmand even with the cocoa and blackcurrant juice. It’s a very pretty, feminine natural smelling fragrance and the rose is very well blended and doesn’t over power the other notes. This perfume is for a very feminine and beautiful girl, it’s got that pretty girl feel if you know you know. If you want to feel youthful, feminine, put together and pretty go for this one. 9/10 Moderate projection and lasts 5 hours on the skin. I would recommend, it’s full bottle worthy and reminds me of Soi Malaquais.

This was my first try at a full-on rose fragrance and I was somewhat reluctant to try. It begins with a light citrus and berry burst and it does stick around for a minute or two. It then begins to change and become earthy and slightly medicinal (not in a annoying way), dont be put off by this, as again, the scent develops further. Ten minutes in and the Rose says a big hello! It's a juicy rose and in my mind it's a red one! There's now a sweetness that also joins the rose in the base. There is still that earthiness there in the background from the Vetiver along with a gentle soft musk, but its needed, to ground the vanilla Rose fragrance and it stops it from being too sweet. It's really wonderful... Van Cleef have managed to create a beautiful, interesting, Rose smelling scent, without the predictable boozy note to create dimension... or the...quite common 'Oudy' Rose scents out there! I'm totally sold!

This is delicious once it dries down. It opens with tart blackcurrent, and while not unpleasant, gives a slight green/medicinal tinge to me. The juicy raspberry starts to peak through shortly thereafter, accompanied by the jammy rose. Once the cacao enters the picture, the scent evolves into something more interesting, bordering on gourmand but never crossing into edible territory completely. I do get roses surrounded by milk chocolates once it’s fully dried down. The scent feels very romantic and feminine to me. I agree with the reviewer below me that it is reminiscent of Roses Greedy, but Roses Rougue feels more complex and deep texturally whereas Roses Greedy is more watery/transparent. I personally do not detect much vetiver. The patch in the base is quite smooth and ties it all together. I truly do enjoy this fragrance for all of its stages. Impressive performance and sillage as well.

Never been a fan of fragrances with prominent rose notes but having tested this in a physical store I couldn't help but order the full version. Never heard of this perfume house before, even though they are quite well-known. Later discovered one of their fragrances was the one that late princess Diana liked. Overall nice concept (I've never seen perfume "envelopes" instead of regular perfume blotters before, it's a great idea), bottle design, perfume quality, would gladly buy more of their products in the future. For this perfume line, testing is required as some of them reportedly lack longevity and generally, any fragrance needs to be tested before buying. The smell can be described as "rose petals jam", reminds a little of Idole by Lancome but the composition's different, more like a "mono" smell. I love it, great for colder months

I own Delina and I own Parfait de Roses and this does not smell like either of those to me. Though if you like those, I'm sure that you will like Rose Rouge, but i LOVE Rose Rouge. Much much more than I like Delina or PDR. This is a sweet candy jamy rose. Its very linear so it pretty much smells the same from opening to dry down. Parfait De Roses is something I would wear in the day time to the office, and Rose Rouge is definitely and nite time scent. Date night, sexy. I'd say this is my all time favorite Rose fragrance. If I had to have one rose for the rest of my life, it would be Rose Rouge! It is truly beautiful If you read the reviews - honestly everyone has something different to say, so I suggest you get a sample and smell for your self. Or even blind buy

One of my top scents. Like another person mentioned, it's pretty gourmand but I think that works especially well for the cooler months. I can't smell rose by itself strongly, but in general it invokes a 'red' feeling that is made full by the cacao, vanilla, and raspberry. It's the kind of feminine scent I'm looking for while in my twenties still. I can also smell it 12 hours later if I spray it onto clothes. I was looking for another winter rose scent and decided to compare this to Brulure de Rose 13 Pierre by Guillaume Paris. The notes listed are quite similar but I found Rose Rouge to be fuller and better at projection. This is the one perfume I have gotten a compliment on without first mentioning I was wearing anything, if that's anything to go by.

I had to smell this perfume on my skin a few times before I bought it. It's hard for me to find a nice floral fragrance which not too sweet on my skin. For example everybody's favourite CH Good girl middle note turns sooo annoying on my skin and I just want to rid of it. But lets talk about Rose Rouge on MY skin. The first tone is fresh and peppery that feels like a unisex perfume. The middle note is literally a bouquet of roses that if I spray it closely on one spot on my skin it can be almost too much but still plaesant. The dry down that I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE a lot is a beautiful cacao and vanilla mix. Definitely it suits for a mature woman it's not like a "go to the market perfume".

This is an underrated gem! All the talk about Arpels Neroli, and it doesnt even come close to this. So dont be scared by the rose. Its not a rose forward scent. The rose is there, but its a very modern take on rose, and its a sweet, jammy kind of rose scent. I would even go so far as to say its a safe blind buy. Its a safe buy for people who arent necessarily fans of rose scents. As long as you dont mind sweet scents. This is addictive. Its both mature and modern. Such a versatile perfume. I wear this in the morning for work, and Ive worn it out on date nights. Im smitten and delighted and really recommend this. Might just be my favorite of all Van Cleef & Arpels perfumes.

This scent is really nice. The perfume is super jammy, rosy and sexy! Warmed skin makes it smell even better... Great quality but too short-lived. No way to sugar coat it, this scent's performance is abysmal. It's gone within 1-2 hours and I am of the mind that longevity matters as much as the scent. I have found that three sprays of Rose Rouge and two sprays of Alaïa Blanche keeps both scents light and flowy. They last for hours together (6+ hours). The best part is that they don't fully mix and I end up getting to smell each individial perfume throughout the day so the caveat is you must love both perfumes. Hoping it performs better on its own late Spring and Summer.

I instantly remembered the review about the theatre with red velvet seats when sniffing my wrist! It was love at first sniff and I even dare to say I found a new favourite. I literally can't get enough! I don't even use much of the other fragrances since buying this one. The main players are rose and cacao and I absolutely love the combination. I can also detect fruity notes, vanilla, benzoin, vetiver and a tonned down patchouli. Lasts a few good hours on skin and a lot more on clothes. I am in love. So, so happy to have discovered it!

This scent is like a lighter version of Lancome's Roses Berberanza. The opening is a bit sharp and spicy to my nose but it quickly becomes a fruity-rose-chocolate goodness. The benzoin, vetiver and patchouli gives this sweet scent a lot more depth and character. But Rose Rouge does not project a lot and is quite light. So I would overspray this one. Like I literally made 14~15 sprays today and then it was I could smell it on myself for 5/6 hrs. I'm so glad I bought this perfume because I absolutely love Roses Berberanza which seems to have been discontinued. I only got this yesterday but I am already loving it 😘❤️

This perfume is sweet and intoxicating but not a teenager sweet scent. Imagine old theatre with red velvet seats and a lady with long soft wavy hair falling down. There is a red roses bouquet in her arms that had been given to her at a cafe before the play. Now imagine mixing these different smells in your mind: the cafe, the rose, the sweet croissant and the cake they've been eating at the cafe and at last the luxury but old theatre. It is very well made scent, it is refine and real, it's not synthetic in anyway. It is easy to fell in love with but it is original the same way.

Tried Neroli Amara, Moonlight Rose and Rose Rouge today, and Rose Rouge was by far the best. It's a super pretty, feminine scent. Opens with a sweet yet not too sweet, jammy rose, with some fresh spicy note I suppose came from the pink pepper? It then dries to a sweet dark chocolate praline filled with raspberry jam. The scent has a chilled, cool feel to it, which I find very intriguing and it also prevents it from being to cloying to me. Would love to wear this for dates. Longevity is good, but sillage is just alright. To me, neroli amara had the strongest sillage though.

This definitely wasn't a love at first sniff for me but my goodness - has it grown on me! Often rose is a tricky note for me, often it becomes very sneeze-inducing, sometimes it's a note the even makes me feel nauseous. But there is something addictive about this one, it's all sweet, creamy, warm and sensual roses. My wrist is glued to my nose, I must have it! And it has been going strong all day! For reference the only other rose fragrances I wear and love are Stella EDP and SL fille de berlin.

So yummy! Strong pink pepper, berries, and rose in the open, and it dries down to a soft creamy vanilla-benzoin. It's a fruity floral gourmand which I'd be afraid would be too teenager-smelling, but it's not, it's mouth-watering but elegant and the vanilla keeps it from floating away or becoming sharp. I don't smell the earthiness of the patchouli or vetiver listed. It's pretty squeaky clean. Not a sexy deep red rose or an innocent baby-pink rose, but a flirtatious dark pink rose.

This fragrance is superb. The rose is bold and natural, never screechy. The pepper and bergamot wake you up in the opening notes but quickly make way for the Rose. The ripe fruits and hint of vanilla and chocolate bring a comforting mellowness for her to stand out against. This rose is confident and in control, nothing flirty about her. This is a powerful rose that's ready to lead the board meeting and take over the world. It is really strong. Two or three sprays max.

This is such a lovely jammy rose perfume. It starts off super juicy with the blackcurrant and raspberry. The rose then gradually blooms, becoming more prominent. As it progresses it gets a little drier, with the patchouli and vetiver grounding it nicely. I also get a slight gourmand vibe from the vanilla and cacao; these give some delicious warm sweetness, although it’s restrained. If you like jammy rose scents, you won’t be disappointed. Really good performance too.

This is what I wanted La Nuit Tresor to be. Most delicious roses I’ve ever smelled. Sits somewhere between pink and black shades, seems like an innocent jam but she's not as playful as you think. She's a grounded queen who wears a cool leather jacket. Somehow carries that energy of hypnotic scenes in old-school animes where full moon shines and petals swirl through the air. Love at first sniff. Intoxicating, perfectly blended. I’m gatekeeping this hard and Idc.

Rose Rose Rose. This is how I imagine a rose garden in heaven to smell like. This is an incredible scent. Absolutely gorgeous. It's a rosey sweet fragrance that's definitely worth the price. I highly recommend this fragrance to any lady. The only reason I don't give this perfect marks is due to the lack of longevity unfortunately. Either way, it does the job for a few hours and can easily be reapplied without being overwhelming. I give this a 9/10.

Sweet, jammy rose, yet not sickly sweet like candy. It’s like Roses Vanille’s older, more mature cousin. Personally I absolutely love sweet fruity roses so this is right up my alley. There’s a slight pepperiness to it that beautifully balances out the sweetness and gives it some complexity. Amazing longevity and sillage. Beautiful summer evening fragrance.

This smells absolutely beautiful. It's classy and alluring. My husband loves this, he said it smells like something he imagines Marilyn Monroe would wear and I couldn't agree more. Longevity on my skin is about 5 hours but on clothes I can still smell the next day. To me it's worth it, so unique. Could be a signature or a special event perfume.

This is very pretty! I cannot imagine anyone disliking it. It's mainly rose, secondly raspberry, thirdly cacao. Delicious without being immature. Reminds me a lot of the divine Panah - Pink Champagne Truffle. Unfortunately it's true that it longevity and sillage are poor. The price point is reasonable though, so it's worth re-spraying!

Beautiful gourmand rose. Most prominent notes are rose jam, vanilla, and raspberry. To me, this is reminiscent of Signorina by Ferragamo. While Rose Rouge's longevity is better and it remains a rose-forward fragrance for longer, Signorina is easier to get at a reasonable price point and has a more well-balanced sweetness.

This is a sweet, jammy, boozy rose. It’s sweet, but just sweet enough, and it has a nice fruitiness from the blackcurrent and raspberry. 🍓🌹🍷I do smell patchouli, but nothing offputting at all. It just gives depth to the overall composition of the fragrance. If you love jammy roses you will most definitely enjoy this one!

This is an absolutely gorgeous, well-blended, boozy, spicy, rose scent. So happy to have it in my collection. I'm so happy to have gotten rid of my Montale Intense Cafe and have this instead. That one was too cloying for me, and Rose Rouge sits closer to the skin and is not too loud, which is my personal preference.

Wow this is absolutely beautiful. Really impressive composition and quality. One of the best roses I've smelled on the market. Some of my other favorites are Parfait de Roses and Wega. If you enjoy those, give this one a try. Its in the same category of Roses without being too similar.

im kinda enjoying wearing this perfume , but I should say its a seasonal one as it might not perfume very well in heat or hot weather...otherwise it is a lovely perfume, very pleasant and intimate and it has a lovely character.. try it in spring or winter only Over all 8.5/10

supernice blend. starts off with a fruity fresh rose blast, second phase is like a rose infused face cream and the drydown is slightly powdery spicy patch rose. Smells classy all the way, no harshness or candy bebop. Sophisticated and effortlessly feminine. Rare gem.

Absolutely stunning. Total dupe of Roses Berberanza by Lancome in the opening (which was the reason why I bought it). The dry down is not as juicy as Roses Berberanza however. Personally I love it. Worth every penny instead of buying Roses Berberanza.

Absolutely gorgeous rose scent. I get blackcurrant before I get rose, but it’s such a lovely pairing that isn’t overwhelming. The dry down is creamy and soft. If it weren’t for the price point, I’d say this would be a brilliant blind buy.

No, this does not smell like a rose garden, nowhere near natural roses. It's a very sweetened, fruity-jammy synthetic rose. Lovers of Delina, Atomic Rose, Roses Vanille, Gentle Fluidity, Roses Berberanza could potentially love this too.

It’s says this fragrance is unisex. I disagree, definitely lies on the female side. However, it is a very good perfume. So sweet, I love it. While a little on the pricey side, I think it’s worth it when it’s on sale, 15-20% off etc.

This perfume smells herbal but in a feminine gentle way, almost not like the notes. I really like this perfume. Only after I tested it on my skin, I liked it and I love how stunning it is. What a electric feel on my skin!

Stunning jammy rose scent. This smells like a grown up, elegant version of dark kiss from bath and body works. First time I wore this I was almost tearing up because of how nostalgic it made me. Van cleef NEVER misses.

Reminds me of Mancera Roses Vanille. This is in the same alley as Montale Intense Cafe. Having both is redundant but must to have both if you love rose. My moms initial reaction is that it smells deluxe and expensive.

Lovely! Reminds me of Roses Berbaranza by Lancome but a summery slightly toned down version of it. Makes me happy. Could be a wedding fragrance too I think.

In general, I like my "rose" fragrances to be a lot more rose forward than this, especially when they have rose right in the name, but the rose that is there, while no soliflore, is exquisitely rendered: deep, sweet, spicy, and jammy. I love the citrus and vetiver, but the patchouli is a little too harsh for my tastes. I do love the black currant note and wish it were dominant over the raspberry, which makes this seem like a slightly more upscale version of Elizabeth Taylor's White Diamonds en Rouge. I'm glad I just have a travel-size sprayer; if I end up using every last drop and loving it, I'll buy a full bottle, but I already suspect that this is similar enough to several of my other rose fragrances to make this inessential for my particular scent library. Update: This one really improves on the drydown. The cocoa notes are coming through for me, at long last, and I'm getting a vanillic creaminess that wasn't here before. It reminds me a bit of a Montale, only with all the incensey, oudlike notes removed and somewhat more demure musks. The only danger with this one is that I become slightly anosmic to it and might overspray. The cocoa-rose-liqueur effect is enchanting! In fact, I think I'm going to upgrade this one to a love. I'm glad I chose it for my monthly subscription purse spray; this seems like one I will get a lot of wear from this autumn and winter. I picture armloads of red roses surrounded by open boxes of Valentine's truffles. Not getting the drunken-Halloween-rose that Elena described so memorably, but there's still time, I guess. If such unruliness does develop, I think I might let this rose get me soused and make out with me--why not? I'm not going anywhere. Update: Wearing again and enjoying it and trying to decide whether I will feel the need to buy a full bottle or another purse-size sprayer when this 8-mL purse-size vial runs out (it's from a subscription service). Maybe it's just because I was wearing Mohra Silky Rose earlier today, but now I'm noticing certain commanalities between the two perfumes. I'd say the Rose Rouge has more projection and sillage, and a stronger (but very smoothly incorporated) patchouli note, but overall it fills a similar, if not identical, niche. The rose note comes through more strongly for me as well in the RR, which is always a plus for me. For this wearing, on the warm skin under my cotton sweater, the green vetiver notes complement the patchouli and make it more appealing to me. The cacao notes are just beautiful--not as sweet as in Mohra Silky Rose but darker, and more mochalike. Imagine eating high-quality dark-chcolate bon-bons while strolling through a private conservatory filled with roses. The French doors are ajar, so you can smell the grass and moss of the surrounding woods.

Have a bottle but don't wear it often. The treatment of the rose is similar to how Montale & Mancera do rose. It's a bright, tart blackcurrant rose with a hint of berry and that very familiar patchouli cacao combination that was popular around 2010 (Dusty, earthy cacao patchouli that could pass as old books and cocoa puffs). It's in the same scent family as Si EDP, Delina and Absolutely Blooming done in a more refined way. At first it's berry-tart and roses. Very girly and pink. Some time later the earthy patch, chocolate and vanilla come out and the scent deepens and softens a little. It's a tart fruity, musky rose with mild depth that doesn't feel dense or too sweet. Sometimes I'm in the mood for it, sometimes I'm not. It's a sort of mood dependant perfume unlike Parfait De Rosess and Flower L'Elixir, both of which never fail me when I'm hankering for gourmand rose. Parfait de Roses most especially. It is the crowned jewel of rose in my collection ; a unique gourmand rose which nothing else compares to, including Rose Rouge. That said, Rose Rouge is very lovely in its own right. It isn't totally unique but I appreciate the quality and the ease of use with it. It gives me "grown-up-girly" vibes, much like Absolutely Blooming does, which could explain why I'm drawn to it in certain times. I will say, the more I wear it the more I like it. Longevity and projection are both pretty good. About average for the house. Side note - Rose Rouge layered over Flower L'Elixir is DREAMY. RR accents the rose and makes the raspberry more tart in FL'E, and FL'E gives something more to the drydown of RR. Edit : Longevity is actually pretty amazing. Just when I think it's gone, it's not. It's still perceptible on my skin almost 24 hours later.
