Van Gils I

Very pleasant scent. I cannot recall smelling anything like this. It is the same style as Trussardi Riflesso, but it is far from similar. It is much fresher and less spicy. This is probably the safest scent I have smelled in a long time, without being generic or boring. Soft, calming, warm, while still retaining freshness. When looking at the price, it is very difficult to go wrong with this one. It is a hidden gem.

I dont really think people in the community realise how good this scent actually is, it is a great spicy, fruity gourmand that last pretty long but does not project all that great, but this scent is fire in my opinion, im stacking up on this one, it's a cheapie.

Linear as mad hell, un-unlikeable, lasts forever, no idea about silage, smells great. Would buy if it cost twice as much. Smells 'smooth', I don't really know fragrance lingo. First perfume I bought, still the best I've smelled.

It smells almost 100% like the legend la nuit de l'homme but than with great sillage and a longjevedy of 8+ hours. I love this scent and it will be in my collection for ever If they never discontinued this gem

This is good stuff! Underrated, as far as I can say. Quite versatile, absolutely inoffensive. Not for the warm weather. Best Van Gils fragrance I know. La Nuit territory, but not a clone.

A pleasant scent, very similar to la nuit de l'homme, much cheaper and in a beautiful bottle. It has sort of sour cherry remaining on your skin with added woody notes.

Impressive stuff, and not expensive at all. Unique scent. Longevity could be a bit better imo.

Smells as smooth as the leather on the seat of luxurious car, not at all like the leather of a seat. It is a good deal for its price and could easily be gifted to men, you really can't go wrong with it. It is quite masculin but with a sweet and spicy twist. Van Gils I is very accessible and I can imagine that this fragrance will introduce young men into the world of fragrances.

Not a clone, but reminiscent of ysl nuit. Cheap, but doesn't smell cheap. Seems to be slept on. Performance is decent.

La nuit vith vetiver freshness. Doesn't smell cheap whatsoever. It's a good one, specially considering price!

I'm actually excited to smell this. The photo at the top right is, presumably, the owner of the brand laughing his ass off at the absurdity of it all. Sure it appears to be a blatant copy of Dior's Sauvage. But Sauvage itself is hardly a unique creation, it borrows extensively from fougere's that have come before. In the world of olfactive creation it's often the case of simulacrums all the way down. Describing something as "unique" usually only tells us the limits the reviewers knowledge of other fragrances from the past, not the objective originality of the scent itself. Go forth, Van Gils, shoulders back and chin held high, venturing boldly where many have gone before! But do it well, or at least better than rest, and you may find a new fan in me. I like the bottle, Dior certainly doesn't have a monopoly on cool bottles with light-to-dark fading. If the notes don't screech with headache-inducing harsh aromas that would be a plus as well.

Tried this one today. The bottle looks a little like Sauvage, but the juice is not......! The smell is very pleasant. At first a litte fresh from bergamot. An half hour later the iris kicks in and gives it a powdery feel, a little later the patchouli, wich I do not find rough as mentioned, sweetenes it up a little. The iris is not that "lipsticky" as Dior Homme, It stays for 6 to 8 hours on my skin, but is no projection monster. Maybe it performs better in spring/summer? It can be used for office. Not dissapointed at all ! Edit 21 may 2018: In warm weather the longevity is not better and it did not project better. IMO This is more for colder days.

I bought it today and let me tell you it’s nothing like Dior sauvage ( I own it too) it start somewhat fruity than it becomes this unique fruity/woody smell that I love. I love the bottle and the longevity of this fragrance. Highly recommend it!

Tonka, Iris, Cardamom, Vanilla. It is sweet.
