Embrace Marigold and Gardenia

Melon, Marigold & Gardenia... Opens with a fruity burst of mango-melon, that deepens into a floral heart of gardenia-marigold with powdery, creamy, honey, hay & floral nuances, all resting on a floral support base of faintly spicy woody-musk. The marigold here leans to tagetes and has a dry & crunchy facet, and smells like honey-hay and vaguely of honeysuckle & mimosa. Overall what I get is a mango opening over a sweet & dry-floral with some creaminess underneath. Overall: Average performance for a light summer wearing experience that can be strengthened by layering over its matching body spray. It's a love for me. Enjoy! Update 05/29/24: Sprayed this on my arm this afternoon in search of melon, and this one delivers. Really shines in the heat with the tropical aquatic melon which gets prolonged by the gardenia. I remember the mango lasting longer, but it was only there in the opening this time. Cardamom takes awhile into the drydown to quietly make its presence know. Still a love for how great the melon is.

An earthy aquatic? Why yes! The marigold, cardamon and sandalwood add a rich, earthy element to the fruity somewhat watery notes of melon and mango. Although the floral notes of gardenia and orange are not as predominant as I had hoped, it is just as well. It would interfere with the somewhat elegiac quality of the scent. This is a great end of the summer fragrance, very reminiscent of the last days of August when the smell of very ripe fruit mingles with the first line of falling leaves. I can imagine myself, lounging by the pool in my backyard, marigolds and asters starting to pop up near the edge of the garden. The silage is pretty decent but like my advice with Vera's Green Tea and Pear, layer up with spray, cologne and lotion-and go to KMART!!! Seriously, the spray is only $10.00! Pretty AND inexpensive.

This scent has that light sweetness of springtime. The top notes (mango and melon) are nicely blended with softer florals. I’m not quite getting the orange blossom, but I do detect the gardenia and marigold. The cardamom and white musk round it out without stealing the show. As I’m not the biggest fan of sandalwood, I was glad there only seems to be traces of it. Everything here is well balanced. It is a very clean, delicate scent. It won’t announce your entry into a room, but gently caresses the skin like your favorite pendant necklace. Nothing too heavy or overbearing. This is a good choice for day wear (work, errands, brunch with your friends). I even find it light enough to wear to bed.

This is the definition of an EDT, which is intimate, subtle, non-penetrating. I own just a sample of this. Doesn't project. It's not AMAZING but has qualities that feel comfortable and familiar. It's slightly creamy and a barely there musky melon citrus with a dewy emphasis. Weirdly took me back to my elementary school years during fall. Has a campy, festive, coziness. The mango, melon, gardenia and orange blossom almost make it tropical, but the marigold, cardamom, cedar keep it casual and for daytime. Totally subdued, fruit market vibe. It just feels so personal, but I know most wouldn't care about it at all and that's why I really adore it.

I found this at Kohl's today! Yay! This is really beautiful! OK I cannot do gardenia usually! So, when I find one that has gardenia and my head is not pounding then it is a winner and when I find one that is actually beautiful and not cloying then double yay! To me this smells firstly of melons, with a little bit of floral, and a freshness that is wonderful! Totally wearable in the summer heat, to work,church... where ever!! I smelled the whole line of Vera Wang "Embrace" and found each and every one so unique and really beautiful and I will be getting them all as they are also very affordable! Perfect!

Gorgeous, gorgeous summer and spring day scent. Floral, sweet, soapy, refined, classy - bursting with juicy melon. I wish I'd get more of the gardenia and cedar, but even so, this fits very close to what I've been looking for in a day scent, and I can understand the slight comparisons between the J'Adore line, though this is certainly more easygoing, not nearly as soapy. Unfortunately, the longevity and sillage of this is next to nonexistent. I might look into B&BW's Hello Beautiful lotion if it's similar. A very breezy, clean smell.

This is a fruity floral sweet scent and like all the others in the line it is was given a name that does not match the scent. I never would have tried this one but the girl at the counter told me she sells tons of it. I loved it so took it home. My husband smelled it and said it smelled like candy. This is not the granny flower bomb the names leads you to think it is!! It is floral but in a beautiful fruity balanced way.

I just discovered this fragrance and can say that I adore this little bottle of elegance elixir. I'm going to wear it this winter with my new discovery, SO from Oscar.I think this winter between the still existing in my collection and my formal love Attimo, a discontinuat from Ferragamo, the Mademoiselle Dynasty from Marina Bourbon a twin for Attimo , SO and this one will be a cruel and unfair battle for my attention.

Intuitively given as a gift, my friend was right. I adore this scent and it's nearly gone. If only it lasted longer! In the meantime I will continue to wear as I love the fresh and classic floral of it.

The gardenia was very powerful to me in this one. I do like gardenia, but have to be in the mood to wear it. I like this perfume. It's floral, fruity and musky all in one.

This opens sharp and green on me, i think the orange blossom and marigold work together and then blooms into a gardenia. I smell some mango/melon and after the sharp opening and sometimes smell a green cardamom and slight cedar as well. I dont get much spiciness really. Overall i like the scent. Im very happy with the five dollars I spent considering it smells very much like issey miyake issey miyake which i sought out for the melon note, only to decide it was too fresh and green for the money. This does only last a couple hours then turns into a skin scent but some days i find that useful.

This is so beautiful. It doesnt last though. I had to reapply every 2 hours & that is layered with the lotion & mist. Its sad because this is very lovely. Im not even a melon person but this smells so good the way it mixes with the florals. I cant rebuy it though. If it lasted 4 hours I could deal but the 2 hours is just enough to only let me down and irritate me.

On my skin it projects an absolutely gorgeous fresh Gardenia note, combined with the juicy melon. I do get a hint of the Orange Blossom in the dry dowm, which is nice, but this is pretty linear on my skin. I am not really complaining though since I am mad for Gardenia.

update: this has become my work from home - pandemic cologne. hot and humid in Houston Texas. i didn't like this very much when i first bought it. i noticed it was collecting dust, so i said to myself, "use it or get rid of it..." i used it. fresh and clean. pleasant.

marigolds stink, so i thought this was going to stink. i was wrong. i thought that the marigold toned down the intensity of the gardenia. in my quest for jungle gardenia i am trying all gardenia fragrances that i can find. this was one. i like it very much.

A really nice subtle floral. The marigold is an unusual ingredient that works well, but overall this fragrance doesn't stand out as anything super special.

A pleasant light floral. Aquatic with a sunflower note. I like this.

Fresh and happy. Smells a lot to me like Sheer Love VS.

This wonderful scent, like all her others, evaporates as soon as it dries. The whole fragrance industry is scamming us out of our precious dollars. What a shame

When are they gonna add the lavender and tuberose embrace?

On me this scent is strikingly different than how portrayed by most reviewers here. It was another Corona-era blind buy for me, and by all accounts I should have loved this. I guess it just does not react well with my skin. Basically what I get throughout is a very strong and intense tutti-frutti smell, that reminds me of the tropical scented wet cleaning wipes that I use to wash the floor. I suppose these are the fruity top note. I don't get any of the floral middle notes or any of the grounding base notes. I was really hoping for the cedar and sandalwood to make an appearance and save the day but I guess they were also overawed by the opening melon/mango duo that overwhelms the entire composition. After quite a few hours the scent evolves ever so slightly and that is when I smell the yellow apple note that one reviewer described. I'm debating whether I should gift this to my DD or keep it for layering to add a fruity note to certain fragrances. My hunch though is that it might be too overpowering for successful layering. Edit - I gave it to DD and it smells much better on her. It's less suffocating and the notes are more distinct.

Not for me... I love gardenia but for some reason the gardenia does not come through with my chemistry with this. I get a very fruity melon smell when first applied and then its almost as if the middle notes get skipped over because then I get a real powdery but faint floral over cardamon and musk. Somehow the melon seems to hang in there giving a slightly rotting fruit scent to the whole thing. A little disappointing as I generally have really liked Vera Wang fragrances but my chemistry and this scent just don't mix, AT ALL- unless I want to attract fruit flies. Thank goodness things come in testers and rollerballs these days so you don't have to commit to a huge bottle of something!! Will find someone I'm sure this smells heavenly on!

This is not my scene at all, but for some reason I had a sample lying around, so I thought I'd give it a quick spritz. Certainly bright, fresh, and springy. White floral and melon - cantaloupe? Not quite the sweetness of honeydew. Something else is going on here, but it's hard to pull apart. Smells kind of generic (I definitely feel like I've smelled this before, years before its release), but not awful, especially for the price. Unfortunately there is also a strong and piercing white musk note, which is not only soapy but also headache-inducing for me. I had to scrub it off before more than 20 minutes had passed.

This might be likable for many people, but for me it's cheap kind of fresh and light. There's a fine line between an expensive smelling and cheap smelling and this one crosses the unfortunately. Fresh and light indeed, but screechy and ordinary as well. Not the worst scent, but it just lacks something.

All I can smell is wet particle board. I wish I knew the ingredient in many scents these days, that causes me to think/smell that.

wow this is awesome - in a subtle and sophisticated interesting way. im skin testing j.choo blossom in the cube bottle (which has gone), a cool water one, this, and the new embrace lavender and tuberose scent (the lavender and tuber sent is sweet - non gourand, floral sweet, no lavender on skin for me, very good longevity 6 hours) i dont agree with the accords really for marigold embrace. i dont feel like this is a big white floral like some are out there, i dont feel its woody either - but - the woods are probably deep in the background tempering down all the fruits and sweet things happening ( the new lavender and tuber is non gourmand sweet and good longevity if thats what youre after) there is an ozonic type sweetness which lightenes it all up - this frag is a gentle rounded light but good sillage scent. i dont feel its aromatic - the notes suggest it is - on comparison to other aromatic scents i have, this is not on that team. what is it - cardamon and others i dont get them - this is not spicey or herby. i could get a vague whiff of tropical-ness - i guess ozonic stone fruit if i had to group them. this is not like escada's or bvl tropical offerings by the way. SO, IMPRESSIONS: marigold type floral with gentle stems added, a touch of sweet to lighten it up, yeah i get and really enjoy the ozonic thing - the peach etc type fruits are not 'fruity' its like there's air/dew added to this scent. it is rounded to me and not screechy. its not inyour face massive. i like the sillage. its like a smell good, wear anywhere scent, i sprayed two sprays ontop of each other on the wrist, the card this scent vanishes so bare that in mind.

Melons. Lots of melons, which is great if you really love melons. I absolutely adore VW Embrace Rose Buds and Vanilla, so I was excited to see this, even though I don't like gardenias. I paper strip tested it and really liked it, thought it was fresh and summery, and definitely not another sweet/floral scent. I paper strip tested it a couple more times and decided to buy it. Unfortunately it just doesn't evolve much beyond melons on my skin - it's nice, just...melony. I'll try it a few more times but I think this may be re-homed eventually. Note to self - remember to skin test!! Note to readers - melons as in rock or honeydew varieties.

Chamomile tea + apple + pear. Light, somewhat cold. It reminds me Flora Gorgeous Gardenia by Gucci. In both of them I don't detect gardenias but artificial yellow apple - maybe it's a synthetic gardenia fragrance - gardenol (styralyl acetate). But it is yellow apple and gardenias smells very complex. Gardenias possess creamy, sad, sweet fragrance resembling jasmine but sweter, with notes of butter, candied mandarine orange peel and earthy nuances of champignons and radish.

Smells exactly like shampoo. Not a bad scent, but it's just a light simple generic shampoo smell. I blind bought it at walmart today for 5$ for the giftset. It was on christmas clearance, and i couldn't pass it up. I got this one & perwinkle and iris. I actually prefer this one because the other is so light. I can definitely see myself wearing this in the spring time. Just a nice and light pick me up that will blend well with spring time.

Loving this!! I got this perfume in my #rosyvoxbox to test and review for free. I must say I'm a perfume lover but floral scents can be iffy for me so when I saw gardenia and marigold in the notes I was like uh oh lol but the melon note in this perfume stands out the most and I only get hints of floral. Longevity and sillage are both moderate on me and this makes a great spring/summer scent!!!

This is very light fragrance that I tend to douse myself in, due to the fact that the longevity isn't great. It's beautiful and subtle, perfect for spring and summer thanks to the mango and melon notes. Great for a day at the beach. I;m a man and love to wear this because it's light and doesn't scare anyone away. Completely refreshing and new!

Skin test, autumn, after a shower. Now I'm looking again the user note votes look spot on. Melon, gardenia, marigold etc Almost a rounded sour green in thebase somewhere, this is so pretty, it's not sugary fruity, its creamy and aquatic sort of, white floral rounded and dense yet airy. I love it personally

Well, I'm no perfume connoisseur, but I very much like this one. It has pretty good sillage--I'd call it moderate to high--and the longevity is really good. I love that it is floral and musky and a bit woodsy all at once.

IVOIRE -Balmain box and bottle but well...being original is harder and harder nowadays. 10 points for marigold, so..let s see, maybe Vera made a good job this time after all the boring and never ending princesses.

I absolutely adore this scent, but longevity and sillage are so pathetic that I rarely wear it. I suppose the beautiful freshness of it would be ruined in an EDP, but I'd still like to see one magically appear.

A soft floral, feminine, non offensive, clean, however doesn't last long at all.
