Embrace Periwinkle & Iris

This is a perfume that I've fallen in love with the more I wear it. The first time I tried it in a store I wasn't impressed. For some reason I would come back and test it over and over again, and I got such a good deal on a small bottle that I purchased it. This scent is one that requires a full application to get the best experience. One little spray on the wrist as you walk around is not going to be enough. Once I was able to spray this on my clothes and chest (I would never do that in a retail store, but some might) I realized that this scent REMINDS me of something, I just cannot place my nose on what. But now as soon as I smell it I'm hit with a wave of nostalgia from my youth. Maybe there was a fragrance or lotion that I wore in school that reminds me of this, but suddenly I'm 15-16 years old again everytime I wear it. On its own merits, nostalgic associations aside, this scent is really a charming one. I get the iris + whipped cream notes most strongly and true to the votes on here. The two of these notes together make for a very cooling effect that this fragrance gives off. I'd say the color of the liquid matches perfectly what this scent feels like as you sniff and wear it throughout the day. It's like I'm enjoying a bowl of coolwhip and blueberries (which do not make a scent presence here, as they normally do not in real life as well) near a frozen pond, where I will lace up my pristine white skates and go for a spin on the ice. My dress is periwinkle blue. This is also a scent that I could imagine Elsa from Frozen wearing. It's all things "Cold" and "Blue" together, but in the best way possible. Longevity is not the best, I only get about 3-4 hours max but with good sillage the whole time, after that it is non detectable. For the very reasonable price, one can afford to carry the tiny bottle for touchups throughout the day, or even purchase the accompanying body mist, which may or may not help with longevity. I have not tested this out myself, but I intend to as I'm going to be spending all of next year acquiring and hoarding more bottles of this before it's gone.

I've wanted this for a couple years. I tested once and fell in love. I never paid much attention after that first few seconds. I assumed it light, but not lasting. I thought it was just too expensive for the tiny bottle of non-lasting scent. I read reviews that said it DID last. Thinking I may have judged a bit too quickly, I tried it again. To my surprise, I had to have it immediately! Iris is a bit of a cool scent to many. Not so much for me. This is kinda snuggly and warm to me. I smell ORCHID. A lot of musk. Sweetness! This is light enough for summer, and comfy enough for sweaters and snow! I bought two! And it might not end my love affair. I love violet and was planning on a HUGE soft fluffy violet in this. I don't seem to get it. Maybe if someone else had it on, I might smell more violet. Maybe I will smell more violet later on? Doesn't matter...this a must have for me. This is a youthful, soft, tender, motherly, kind hearted Neutrogena commercial mom/model. This is a heavenly puff of actress...Jennifer Garner? This lasts above average for me. And what I find even more important, the 6 or so hours it lasts...it's quite strong! Not overly strong at all. Don't be afraid. Everyone will LOVE that they can smell your perfume. Few perfumes I can smell on myself after an hour. If I do, I'm pretty sure I've over sprayed. Not this one! I love this bottle also. It's just so cute! It's plain, nothing much really, but I love that silver and blue together. Buy yourself a little bottle of Christmas winter blue sky and sparkling silver ornament stars.

Thought I had written a review of this delightful scent weeks ago..... And now I find a host of delightful reviews that say very much what I would have done. Kudos, friends! Of the many excellent write ups, my thoughts align most perfectly with exciter76's review. :) Periwinkle and Iris is such a SIMPLE scent, isn't she? But I just can't help feeling Great when wearing this powdery Iris beauty! Yes, a perfect beginner's introduction to Iris. There's also a refined sort of Bath and Body Works vibe here. The basic goodness (perhaps courtesy of all that glorious powder and nothing fruity?) seems a notch above B & B W, while being in the same 'cozy, simple, happy, likable' category as the best of theirs. So perfect is Periwinkle Iris for bed and bath time that I find myself using the body spray (which is quite affordable and available at Walmart) IN the bath! Lavishing hot running water with 10-20 spritzes of your favorite body spray gives a lovely ambiance of scent to any bath ritual, and nothing could be more perfect for scented clouds of steamy goodness than Periwinkle Iris. It's a bed time dream come true for me, literally. Oh, and did I mention *complements*?! I so rarely receive complements for anything I wear, yet people around me love Periwinkle Iris's comforting & somehow elegant simplicity. Five Stars <3

I didn't know what to expect from this one, but I seem to be in a Vera Wang-loving-and-buying craze currently, so I decided I would take a chance and blind buy. Oh.My.Word! From the first spritz, my mood lifts! The fragrance is more beautiful than I would have guessed, since I don't know what periwinkle or iris smell like. At first, I get a big shot of vanilla. I like vanilla, but it isn't usually my favorite note. No so here, however, because the robust vanilla is right away mingling with the scent of fresh flowers. I don't how to describe it other than if you can imagine the best vanilla scent you've experienced and add it to light, fresh, sweet (but not cloying) floral notes. Pure heaven to me! I am only disappointed in its longevity. I don't notice it on my skin after a couple of hours. I am alone a lot of the time, so it is possible that if I wore this around others they would still smell the fragrance on me longer than I can/do, but as for myself, this fades to a barely noticeable skin scent after a couple of hours. Sillage is medium for me. Even so, I plan to keep a bottle of this beauty in my permanent collection. I bought the 1 ounce bottle I have 3 weeks ago and it is already 25% gone. Looks like I'll be purchasing another bottle in the very near future.

Vera Wang Embrace Periwinkle & Iris was a blind buy for me. I was excited to get this one in the mail after reading the reviews on it. I found it for $10 on ebay and it seems like a good one to layer over my everyday signature lotion, which is woodsy yet clean. Periwinkle and Iris reminds me of a combination of Prada Candy/ Bath & Body Works "Magic in Air". Prada Candy due to the incense-y, benzoin drydown. The fluffy and soft Iris note and warm vanilla touch on the feel of Magic in the Air. I even get a little "Warm Vanilla Sugar" vibe from this. However, I feel like the Violet is a nice addition to VW P&I that sets it apart to some of the more cheap frags I mentioned. Along with the soft musky, woods dry down. I like the drydown it leaves on my skin. Soft & sweet, clean and slightly musky. Incense, palo santo and sandalwood. Little vanilla. I pick up on smoky amber, also. It's nice. Good one to spray on your pajamas. Or after yoga. If you're going camping, this would be nice to wear around a campfire. Very comforting. Cheap, not one-dimensional. Good for layering every day. Nice year round. Periwinkle and Iris stays when sprayed on clothes, yet not overwhelmingly so.

So beautiful! Decent lasting power for a Vera Wang Scent and just so cosy and comforting. It's got a tiny bit of zingyness at first but the dry down gives me a slight violet cream fondant vibe (like the rose and violet cream sweets if you know what they are?!) but without the dark chocolate. If it's helpful I'd say this is not at all a vanilla sweetness, it's a sugary cream sweetness and the level of sweetness is similar to the original Salvatore Ferragamo Signorina. It shares the cooked cream / whipped cream vibe that both the EDP and EDT of that one has. It's almost marshmallow-like, with flowers spritzed with a tiny bit of citrus but a VERY delicate violet is the star of this bouquet. I'm a bit fussy about sweet perfumes but I'm already planning to get a back up bottle as it's pretty magical! I find that in warmer weather the Iris is stronger, but in cooler weather the Violet is more noticeable.

I was looking for cheapies but goodies. This is exactly the definition of that. I think this composition is lovable. The opening is a little bit alchoolic and I do not really get bergamot, also middle notes are in someway the typical notes of a forgettable floral perfume. But when you wait a little and it evolves... You may be left speechless. This whipped cream is gorgeous. It's like you are eating whipped cream and vanilla cake, and you are all dressed up with clothes freshly washed with your favorite jasmine softener... However, there is something dark: outside is raining and the woods outside your window will populate with violets. It's also emotionally sweet and tender: it's like hugging your grandma... But you travelled through times and she is 15. It's already a favourite!

Vanilla, Iris & Whipped Violet... This is predominantly a vanilla scent with the other notes enhancing the vanilla facets, including a whipped creaminess and some powdery iris. In the air, there's a faint blue note that could be violet, periwinkle or muted blueberry but vanilla is still the main player. I get L'Instant Magic Guerlain vibes, only this is less complex, and not as powerful performance-wise. The iris here is just in a supporting role to the vanilla and although it's present, it isn't as dominant as in scents like L'Ange Noir Givenchy. The whipped cream, together with the powderiness of the iris brings a 'cake-frosting' vibe to the vanilla. Average performance for a light summer wearing experience. It's a love for me. Enjoy!

I love this fragrance so much! Signature scent worthy for sure. I have been searching for something comforting to myself that also feel comforting to others around me, and this does just that! I have been curating my fragrances around "comforting" fragrances lately, and this is just perfect it really does smell the way a much needed hug feels. It is absolutely non offensive, so soft and calming. It does start out heavy on the bergamot for me for about an hour but then develops into a soft baby powder scent, softer than baby powder even. It's so perfect. I hope that never discontinue this one. It's more therapeutic than aromatherapy for sure.

Sweet and comforting like a hug. This is pure powdery whipped cream, with lots of vanilla and violet. This is a lovely one for when I want to feel delicate, it is all occasion safe, and not overpowering at all. This is my favorite from the Embrace line and I find it to be the one with the most sillage and longevity (though still very weak - it lasts a bit more on clothes.) Love love this for a gentle no fuss day scent and it's also perfectly suitable for a bedtime scent. Using this is being enveloped by a beautiful, powdery cloud of sweet violet whipped cream.

I actually don't prefer perfumes that contains "sweet, sugary or edible" notes in it. Well this perfume is an exception for me. I love iris and violet and when i saw notes and reviews i thought "worth to take a risk" then blindly bought it. Today finally i received it. Iris is make-up product effected in a good way and violet is different than i expected, i don't know about periwinkle but i think that difference in violet is because of it. Iris and periwinkle is a sweet perfume but not too heavy or sticky. Still i'm going to use at fall and winter season.

This used to be my signature scent as a teenager, and I still have a soft spot for it even though it doesn't suit me any more. I never knew how much I loved the smell of violets until I bought this perfume - it triggered my obsession with powdery and floral scents that I still have today. It's super sweet and sugary in a light and pretty kind of way, it kinda has the vibe of really nice fabric softener on fresh laundry.

Vera Wang did everything right with this. I purchased the 3 rollerball set and I just knew that rose buds and vanilla would be my favorite one but I was wrong. I'm not familiar with Iris or periwinkle but I love it in this fragrance. I immediately purchased the 1 ounce after getting the roller ball. I'm just upset that this doesn't come in a larger size because I would definitely buy it.

I got this as a birthday present from my brother a little more than a year ago. I used it once or twice and didn't really think much of it, then I kind of forgot about it until a few months ago. I sprayed it on before bed and I fell in love. This perfume is really beautiful and calming. It's perfect for colder days and lasts around 7 hours on me. I will definitely get another bottle.

Clean, sweet, charming, elegant, cheerful and comforting. It puts you in a good mood and makes you feel pretty, feminine and put together. A perfect everyday scent. It seems to be being produced again, albeit priced much higher this time... was delighted to be able to get another bottle as I used my first one up a while back and had been mourning its loss in my rotation.

Smells so light, cozy and warm but also clean at the same time. Like being held in a clean soft blanket out of the dryer. I don’t own this scent but it’s on my wishlist and I think about it a lot because I love it so much. It’s sold out in all the drugstores near me but I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

This is a hug in a bottle. Super comforting and familiar. It's powdery and sweet, but still soft and intimate. One of my friends told me I smelled like baby powder when I wore this and I love the smell of baby powder so I took it as a compliment!

Lots of iris and violet on me! Not so much of the sweet and powdery that others are complaining of. It lasts four hours. This was a little gift that I'm really enjoying. But you've piqued my curiosity and I'll now go smell the Prada irises.

We are in a heat wave down in the lower USA...and I LOVE this perfume in the winter, especially in cold rain, but Lord have Mercy this is not the scent you want to wear in the sweltering heat. The sweet will choke you out.

Another winner in this collection. I love it! I really notice the jasmine in it. It's sweet and feminine. The whole collection is really nice. It's one of my favs.

I got this little beauty for Christmas. I layered it on top of B&BW Into the Night 24 body lotion. It is heavenly and makes the perfume last so much longer.

I just tested cheirosa 59 and it turned into periwinkle and Iris on me! Just mentioning it because this one is so hard to find nowadays!

This was my wedding perfume. Such as sweet powdery scent.

I find this perfume to be so artfully delicious. This smells like how I imagine the color periwinkle. I absolutely can see the bluish/purplish vibes in this juice. I agree that there is a hint of blueberry providing some sweetness and depth. To me, the sweetness is light and buoyant. It smells as though someone sprinkled finely milled sugar over iris and violet petals. So yes, sugar, but somehow it’s sugar on a cool breeze. This perfume is so refined, cozy, cloud like, perfect for bedtime and snuggling. I smell iris more than I do violets. My recipe for Iris and Periwinkle EdP: Sugar (white), Iris (blue), Violets (purple), fold together gently with with a touch of vanilla whipped cream and white musk, just enough to combine. Drizzle with blueberry syrup and serve! I also smell faint whiffs of vintage makeup and heliotrope, although it’s not listed. I also fell a coolness in the smell, so perhaps the above recipe is enjoyed outside on a sunny day with snow on the ground. The light breeze brings something refreshing and “cool”. Somewhat thirst quenching. I do not think it is a strong lactonic scent. I would love it even more if it was! I more smell creaminess in how it’s blended together. I would love for my sheets to smell like this and due to the wonderful price I should buy another bottle just for my sheets! This fragrance is very light. I almost wish it were stronger so I could smell it on myself more often, but with scents like this (light, airy, delicately sweet) I find that part of its charm is in fact due to it being a soft skin scent. I do plan on purchasing the body spray to see how much layering will boost it up. This fragrance could be layered with most anything. I’ve been wearing this for four hours now and while I have to put my nose on my arm to intentionally smell it, I did just get a whiff while standing outside in the wind. And lastly, I have to say that I find something about this is so refreshing. I would absolutely wear this on a hot day! Has anyone tried out multiples of this Collection Embrace? I’m curious about the others.

I just picked this up (gift set with lotion and shower gel) for 9.99 at TJ Maxx. I have to say that on the initial spray, I didn't like this at all. It was harsh to me. I thought for sure, that was it, I wouldn't be using it again. After a while though, I'd say a good 15-20 minutes, it softened up and bloomed in my opinion. I can smell the iris and a bit of the bergamot. What I smell a lot of is the violet. It's not sharp or overpowering, but it's there and I love it! After it's settled on the skin for about an hour, its softness really comes through. Delicate, but strong enough for you to take notice. I don't get vanilla, whipped cream, or sugar in the least. I mean, not at all. I think if any of those elements were more present, I would love this so much more. Still, it's lovely and perfect if you want florals but not the kind that punches you in the face. I found that this scent lasted a good 8 hours on me, even though it doesn't seem to project that far. I just got light whiffs of it throughout the day. When people comment that this is a "comforting" scent, they're not lying. It is. One last thought, the lotion and gel that came with it? AWFUL. The scent smells so off and plastic-like. I mean, it was terrible!

I tested it side by side with Ariana Grande's Cloud and I liked this one better - I bought a bottle on the spot! I love the smell of violets and I love sweet creamy frags. If you don't like sweetness, don't blindbuy this. To my nose it's sweeter than Cloud and much less fruit (I can't tell any fruit notes in this distinctly - they're so faint I think 'blueberry maybe?' because the juice is blue lol) and much more purple floral. A creamy instead of powdery version of what Choward's candies smell like, though the violet is balanced with white flower and some light fruit. For me, it's close enough to Cloud at less than half the price, although it doesn't last as long. If you like Cloud you'll like this, if you like Choward's Violets you'll like this, but if you don't gravitate towards sweetness I really wouldn't recommend. Do not blind buy if your skin makes sweetness cloying - mine tends to muffle sweetness and amplify florals. This is my most unique, surprisingly delicious floral-sweet frag out of many. top- sugary violet mid- creamy fruit, some iris and white floral until it wears off- vanilla sweetness/benzion, white floral and iris

This is an interesting scent. At first I get a powdery, almost fresh laundry smell and then it settles into vanilla and creamy goodness. That powdery scent remains though for me. The very end of the day, this just smells like cream. I feel like this is more of a 'just after a shower' and 'running around doing errands' and 'lunch date' sort of fragrance. It is bit strong - not to others but potentially the wearer, if that makes sense. I remember the first time I wore it that I liked the scent but wished I had sprayed less (and I did not spray a lot!). I think daytime for this. I can't imagine really wearing this at night. it's not exactly warm or sexy. Just sweet vanilla cream powder. I can see how some might even find it cloying. I liked it and enjoyed it a lot. You don't need to worry about sillage with this one - so it is a great one if you're looking for something that won't offend. I did find it lasted a long time on me. I'm interested in continuing to wear it to see how it grows on me. I like it a lot - it is a pleasant surprise.

Periwinkle and Iris reminds me of the blueprint of a Victoria's Secret perfume [especially Tease Flower]; there is a combination of sweeter notes here, and they begin to develop more or less immediately upon application. However the sweeter notes are mild and the cream and light fruits gives the mix a airy and sweet-but-fresh sense of sugar water and milk, rather then being a syrupy jumble. The Periwinkle and iris are the stars of the show here - I say stars, but the floral notes share the airy vibe that the fruity and sweet notes do, so there aren't any louder 'look at me' scent notes in this perfume. I can separate the violet and what I think is freesia and/or peony, although the jasmine doesn't stand out to me. I think that there are some clean floral notes present underneath the listed notes, but I can't say for sure what they are, as they are so subtle. If I had to guess I'd go for the one's commonly found in 'clean' fragrances - orange blossom, heliotrope, and neroli.

What I smell in this cute little perfume is powdery, almost bitter iris with some sugar on top. It reminds me mostly of Prada Candy. It's not super sweet. The longevity si of course not that good, if you overspray, you get moderate longevity on skin and clothes. Occasionally, I get some wafts of it in the air. I assume the sillage is intimate to moderate. Anyway, the perfume itself is quite nice, it's a lovely powdery scent, but also it's more of an intimate, light skin scent. I would love it to be stronger, but for the price it's OK I guess. Bedtime scent for sure, or maybe a light go-to perfume for some minor daily errands. :)

I bought the body mist version of this because I love violet candies and I was curious about iris. Well, the incredible sweetness of the violet combined with the powdery iris and white musk choked me in a cloud of candied baby powder. Even then, I could have handled it and kept this as a seasonal or novelty scent, except for the longevity predicament. As dense and thick as the opening was, in an hour or two the entire scent would be gone. I am not comfortable reapplying a scent 5 times a day, especially if I don’t enjoy that initial hit of fragrance. So I had to give it away.

This is powdery, iris(which I think is powdery itself anyway)& creamy. Like other reviewers said this is a comforting scent. Its like casual daytime in spring or summer perfume. I think some of the reviewers may have been expecting something complex but its a simple, comforting daytime scent. I will rebuy and want to try the others now. The longevity is very good. I keep catching whiffs of myself. The only negative I can put to it is that its not worth $29 for 1 ounce, which is what it sells for in most stores. Definitely try to find it at a TJ Maxx or Marshalls.

Soft Powdery Sweet Floral that gives "Delicate". This is soft enough to be workplace safe. A great beginner scent for someone that doesn't want to smell too much like fruit or candy. It has an Intimate to Moderate Sillage. It also has a subtle woodsy note in the dry down that you can detect. I enjoy the transition from top to middle to the base dry down, as though it's an experience or a full-course meal For your olfactory senses. For the price, I think it's a fair deal for what you get.

This was a comforting perfume that I used to adore! Something about it was unique and cozy at the time. You definitely can smell the slight sweetness with a soft fruitiness. Unfortunately mine went bad before I could use it up. Probably wouldn't repurchase since I'm more into heavier scents right now. It's a nice one to look back on though! Definitely was my fave out of all the vera wang fragrances.

I was going to get Versace Crystal Noir but this fragrance VIBES the same, so I will hold off on my Versace perchase. This is a great scent to throw on when you just wanna wear something, and not have to think too hard about it. The violet and iris really are the star in this. Good sillage & wear time (I get about 6-7 hours before I have to respray). Nice huggy type scent.

Imagine you sit on your bed, like the teenager you were, eating a vanilla cupcake, warm, sweet. There is a delicate topping of chantilly cream on it, powdered with icing sugar. And a blueberry. Yes, absolutely, a small dark fruit, watering your mouth with acid purple juice. Some scents can stop the time to make you feel so comfortable.

Mermaidshimmer’s review is spot on! This is a powdery soft, lightly sweet, comforting scent. It definitely has a baby powder feel to it (which I don’t mind in this) but with the addition of a soft floral note and light creamy sweetness. If you don’t like powdery scents this is definitely not for you.

I just got this as a Christmas Present. I have never smelled it before, and I was worried, I am not a floral perfume person, but this is so soft, warm and cosy. To me this is what I imagine a sweater would smell like if it was a perfume. I like it quite a lot.

I have VW Periwinkle and Iris Fragrance Mist. When I first sprayed VW, I thought is smelled like something I have smelled before. Although less sweet, I think this resembles Britney Spears The Nice Remix which I also have.

Very subtle and soft spoken. Iris & violet flower over a backdrop of whipped cream, sugar and vanilla. A floral that's light & powdery but also fluffy and sweet. It won't blow your mind, but it's cozy.

Not too bad. Reminds me of one of the philosophy frags. Light and powdery. I do smell the iris I like the Laurence Dumont better but for a cheapie you could do a lot worse. I'll wear it

Interesting fragrance, I used this fragrance as a bedtime scent. It feels more cozy that way in my opinion. Also, I get no vanilla or sweet, just those purple florals.

I have bought it for only 2,5€. It is a nice fragrance but not more. I can't smell anything just amber, where is it come from?

So the sprayer smells dusty as if the perfume is about to go bad. Aside from that, the perfume itself is still fresh. Familiar scent. Lots of cooling purple-blue powdery tones here. Thank god there is sugar and whipped cream in the purple party or this would be a bitter incense mess. I detect the same benzoin effect here of Lovely You by SJP, the powdery blue dreamy perfume. This may be possibly responsible for the subtle bitterness, due to the other notes surrounding the benzoin. Lovely You and Periwinkle-Iris belong in the same league imo, despite that one lacking violet or iris - the plum blossom gives a similar cooling powdery vein. If Lovely You is the scent of a baby, this is the lullaby. Its heart is bitter-sweet, violety-purple, ozonic-cold, slightly powdery, like a candied Lolita Lempicka EDT, and they share the jasmine, iris, violet. LL EDT has incense, here we have benzoin, kinda sweeter but along the same lines with incense. This smells like a sweet harmony and it is more wearable than LL (which gives me a headache). The sweet sugary element doesnt delay, I can smell it along with the balsamic benzoin from the sprayer and the opening and they intensify with time. Surprisingly violet here behaves well on my skin, thanks to the sweet iris I suppose, the Barbie-doll note. Its also along the lines of Buckle no2 the violet, apricot nectar, candied amber perfume not listed on here, but that one is lighter, sweeter, more girly while Periwinkle-iris is deeper and colder, I could say dreamier and more calming. Not a regret, i love it. My other fav from the line is the RoseBuds Vanilla one.
