Onda Eau de Parfum

I came from the extrait which I absolutely love, and noticed that there were two other versions, the Voile d'Extrait and the Eau de Parfum. The former, I gathered, was essentially a sprayable format of the scent of the extrait, while the EDP was a somewhat different fragrance sharing a few common elements. I opted for the EDP out of curiosity. This is really quite different from the extrait, with a massive reduction in the honey note (to the point where I honestly have trouble really smelling it) but where a large, undoubtedly "overripe" fruit note is wafting out instead. The vetiver is still clearly detectable, but the spice, honey, orris and animalics are all very pared down. This EDP version is much more vivacious, airy and has a lot of "verve", but doesn't resemble Djedi as closely as the extrait. From the EDP, I mainly get this large, slightly disturbing passionfruit note laying atop vetiver, with the mentholated ghost still haunting the fragrance. It's quite nice actually, albeit extremely unusual smelling, and the passionfruit in moments can come off more citrusy, more pomaceous, or more tropical, but always having been left out in the sun for just a little bit too long. Yes, there is a faint impression of subtle rot, though it's a rot of plant material and so comes nearer to what I'd imagine tropical compost might smell like. There's also a strong vegetal element, which reminds me of the image (though not the smell) of ivy tendrils and old stone ruins. Very nice, very different, and good for summer and autumn wear, but ultimately I do prefer the dryness and animalic quality of the extrait.

Onda is a tremendous smoky, grimy, dank, decaying-forest-log scent — it’s controversial, but I love it. There’s a slight funkiness like a mud puddle after rain, or a damp spent charcoal fire. The charcoal-black grime covers a core of citrusy radiance — yes, with a bit of the tart passionfruit note that Vero Kern puts in every perfume. It feels like morning, clear skies amid the aftermath of chaos. over time, Onda turns grayer and drier, becoming more explicitly a vetiver scent with a smoky touch. The “brisk morning sky” feeling (probably an abstraction around citrus) remains to balance the gray woodsmoke. The dank weirdness is gone by this phase and Onda is almost a “normal”, refined smoky-woody scent with a remarkably cheerful spirit. It feels like exploration, like going to an unfamiliar part of town full of abandoned warehouses. Somebody might be making a bonfire; someone might be running an exquisite little print shop in one of the warehouses; somebody might be giving away a truckload of 2x4’s or an antique desk; you half expect to meet a strange little old man who will give you a magic ring and a quest.

I like onda edp (without knowing the extrait). Liking Onda or not obviously is an extremely personal question. I-for my part- love vetiver in all facets and this smells like a vetiver powder from India, that I have in my collection. Actually I didn't want to review because it's nice to discover on oneself, but have a question to you onda-wearers out there: Did you ever recognize the Iso-e-super in it- or is it just me? It is so strong and inky that it almost ruins the drydown for me...a long time Onda is so good, so beautifully weird and soft and sophisticated and then...hm I was a little disappointed...but maybe I'm too strict, it might lend the composition a certain light- & greenness that cannot be obtained by other material...and in the beginning and middle it doesn't disturb so much... Anyone here with a similar perception?

Onda EDP begins with a somewhat bitter beginning which is a bit unpleasant. However, this only lasts for under 10 minutes and blooms into a lovely bouquet of ginger, mandarin orange and what I presume to be passion fruit. I also smell the honey and a touch of basil. It has been very pleasant in the 3 or 4 times I have tested it. It lasts probably about 7 or 8 hours on me which, for me is excellent. Unfortunately, it has little or no sillage on me. I received a sample of the 3 new Vero EDP's from Lucky Scent. Of the 3 I love Rubj the most and Onda comes in second place. The perfumes cost a minor king's ransom, unfortunately, so I won't be getting a larger size in the forseeable future. However, I certainly recommend testing these for the experience. Onda definitely is made with the finest ingredients as are all the Vero perfumes.

Rozy takes out the roses, ditches the femininity, adds vetiver, and gets Onda. There was a burst of fresh bark, medicinal-like sweet and bitter fragrance. Then it is overwhelmed by the tropical passion fruit, which contains basil, ginger, ylang ylang, bergamot, and the late Vero Kern is good at blending sweet and sour aromas. The smoky vetiver and the cooling properties of cedar are all moderated by honey-rich beeswax and musk. Patchouli stabilizes the structure, and the woody base provides a good follow-up to the herbaceous and fruity top notes. Onda is not just vetiver, it is a multi-faceted, element-rich retro oriental fragrance, which is soft and delicate in texture and rich in fragrance with Rozy. The two silhouettes are almost the same. Onda is one of the first releases of Vero Profumo.
