Blue Jeans

I love Dr. Pepper. Stuff gives me a real kick on those long campus days when I'm only halfway through and stop considering time as a concept to make the day go "faster." I also like the idea of a unique fragrance that is different from my collection (read as "hoard") of fougeres and other assorted classics. Versace Blue Jeans was mentioned in some forums as a Dr. Pepper-esque affair. If Blue Jeans smells like Dr. Pepper, then someone swapped my drink for a Royal Crown Cola. What I do get is still something that's as pleasing as the novelty soda bottle... uh... bottle. Blue Jeans drifts between two smells to me: Root beer, and something like powder laundry detergent and baby powder. Can't be Dr. Pepper, I don't get the cherry note thats key to Dr. Pepper's profile. Still, I consider Blue Jeans to be very nice, like its peer from 1994: Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme. I can't describe it in anyway other than extremely fluffy and pleasant. Synthetic? Well yeah, but I mean... root beer and detergent isn't natural. This stuff is pretty linear, you're not getting something that's like three different things as the day goes on. You get spicy root beer fizz, then flat root beer and baby powder. But for $25 bucks tops, can one really complain? Versace Blue Jeans is like its namesake: relaxed, totally informal, and VERY American. It smells like a European stereotype of an American: Cola and freshly laundered denim. But it's cool in that way, since it unabashedly flaunts an Americana flavor. Blue Jeans is a fun scent that actually works well as a casual, everyday choice on a budget, or even if you're just curious.

I can't wrap my head around these low ratings. This is such an iconic, complex scent profile. Are people hating it because it's "dated"? I'd like to rephrase it to "timeless". Ohh, and it doesn't cost much to own this. This is quite a complex aromatic fougere. Very unlike your usual barbershop scent that has bergamot, lavender, sage, geranium with woods and tonka in the base. This is so complex that you can't pick a single note apart and tell you're getting X, Y and Z notes. How the opening comes across is herbal, aromatic and menthol like. It has a certain cooling effect very reminiscent to a cheap hair oil old barbershops back in India used while patrons asked for a head massage. The dry down is floral and the heliotrope note, although makes it smell nostalgic, not fair to garner the low ratings this has. The same herbal aromatic and floral dry down continues with a slight tonka sandalwood warmth. It's obvious that a scent from the 90s would have suffered reformulations. My 2024 bottle gives me about 6 hrs indoors on both skin and fabric combined (with a 6-7 spray routine). I'd recommend you do more sprays on clothes. These are numbers in an indoor air conditioned environment. It'll probably halve outdoors so not recommended at all. Since I wear it in my AC filled office, I wear it confidently during all seasons. If you like old school aromatic fougeres (barbershop scents), this will be right up your alley and for the price point, you're getting a designer perfume that's actually quite classy and sophisticated. Please ignore the trolls who call this a synthetic chemical mess.

I had put off buying this because everyone in the fragrance community had put it in "worst fragrances ever" rankings. Whenever I was at stores that sold Versace, it was one of the only ones with no tester available, which further solidified my brainwashing. I eventually decided that it's so cheap, I'll get it and if I don't like it, I'll give it away. I'm so glad I did and now I don't trust any fragrance content creators. Are the fragrances they are also hyping up trash? How can I trust them if they called this ABSOLUTE GEM trash and worthy of a top 5 WORST fragrances along with fragrances that have blood and bodily fluids in their notes?! Dated?! How is this dated when just about every note is still being used TODAY in other fragrances? I think I may actually like this more than Pour Homme which was my first Versace fragrance. Don't listen to anyone in the fragrance community, I feel like most of them have destroyed their nose by spraying directly into their nostrils and injecting cinnamon and oud into their eyeballs. Versace Blue Jeans is inoffensive, fresh, clean (not in a blue shower gel way), and easy to wear. Because everyone seems brainwashed and won't even look in its direction, you're guaranteed to not smell like anyone else around you and that will get you compliments. And you know what? Go ahead and gatekeep this one gang. They wrote it off as trash because all the fragrance tiktokers said it was.

This will always mean something special to me. My brother had gotten this for my grandfather as a gift when we had gotten into cologne. He wore it everyday- I swear, whenever I hugged him or visited him I’d smell this pleasant, warm scent. It was nice, it was sweet, yet not too cloying, spicy, but not too hot. It was a perfect combination of both the taste of gentleman but also the quality of a smart man. My grandfather passed away on the 18th of December in 2022. This scent reminds me of him, his playful character, his smile and the way he looked at me after I finally visited him after a rough day. He was a giving man, a strong, courageous, confident man. This scent was exactly the embodiment of that, and he fitted the silhouette perfectly. It is his birthday today, so I doused my pillows with this just so I could feel his inviting presence with me. The citrus hit me first, with a pine type feel. This fragrance has insane longevity too. 42 hours at the least with perfect longevity. This made it so easy and nonchalant. I wear this fragrance whenever I’m going through something tough just so I can remember what he did to make sure my mom and grandma were okay. The perfect scent, atleast, to me. Scent: 10/10 Sillage: 10/10 Longevity: 10/10 Projection: 10/10 Presentation: 10/10 Value for price: 10/10 Versatility: 10/10 Overall: 10/10 Miss you everyday and happy birthday. ❤️

very spicy fougere with sweet undertones of vanilla and lavander, and as it dries it gets powdery and smooth, might be cloying in high heat, its old school. Unironically it smells like new pair of blue jeans, right out of the factory, just like the name says. For its price its nice but u can get way better fragrances nowdays with mid eastern dupes, i would say skip this one if u have better options or save up for better stuff, its good but not good enough, its not as bad as people say but its very dated scent, u dont necessary smell like grandpa wearing it, but its too mature old school fougere, u smell like old man but not really grandpa, some mid 40s haha. Lasts about 5 hours for me, sometimes more sometimes less, but around that time. Good for the price, but if u got better options skip it, u wont use it and u wont get compliments if thats what u after, cologne by itself wont save you, and thats what i like about it, cologne is just an accesory, so if you look like crap this one wont save u at all, u will get compliments if u look good tho, its very two sided actually, or is it just how it is with every cologne? probably not with these modern mainstream bs overall il give it 5.5/10. Fun fact, it was my first cologne, i am trying to enjoy it, but it is very dated and just not good enough for today standards, so i wear it very rarely.

Recently recommended to me and I love it more each time I wear it. Not the classiest fougere I own, but definitely the most fun and the sexiest. Granted, I always think vanilla and tonka are sexy and, while this isn't a vanilla or tonka bomb, they do rumble through the entire experience, not only lending it it's wearability for women, but likely contributing to the cola quality some attribute to it and I'm coming to notice myself. The anise and basil don't say "hello" until the top starts wearing down but the citrus, juniper, and rosewood are right there from the first spray. The patchouli is nice and subtle. It's just soapy enough to be a fougere, with the florals lending a powderiness that, with the vanilla and tonka, makes the soap really creamy, like the decorative soaps from your grandma's bathroom basket or bowl. Of course, being a fougere, the lavender is a big, fuzzy, silky constant. It may not be a high performance machine, but it lasted me through hours of swimming in Lake Michigan. That's the best longevity i can ask of any scent at the Blue Jeans price point. Really cool everyday fragrance that deserves to be classed with other 90s perennial classics, like CK One.

One of the best affordable fragrances you can buy. Its been around a long time because its an awesome composition. Its fresh, complex, mass appealing. Every few months I get influenced to throw away $50-70 on the latest dupe that you wear 2-3 times. Meanwhile this thing is $20 and is amazing. This was created when the industry didnt sacrifice smell for longevity. So it doesn't contain massive amounts of amber woods notes which every new release seems to have. The stuff that makes one smell terrible for 25 hrs. But I digress. You have to like anise. Its the predominant note. It opens with a beautiful citrus and bergamot notes. followed by a tiny bit of basil and anise. Slowly as the citruses wear off and you are left with Anise for the most part. Anise mixed with what smells like ginger ale in the background. It projects excellently for 1-1.5 hrs. You can wear this to a wedding or a white Tshirt, its very versatile. Objectively this should be a 4.35/5.

Versace Blue Jeans: What can I say, the description is right. This is one I came back to after many years. It has more of a place in today’s palette than it did in 08’ when I first started wearing it. Let’s face it, most modern “men’s” colognes all seem to be sweet, I can’t help but think we’re still trying to make up for the musks of the 70’s and 80’s when it comes to designing colognes for men in 2025. Nothing about blue jeans would make itself outdated in today’s market. It’s lived long enough to have a seat close to the front again. I’d recommend it as a spring or summer fragrance for a cool day or any evening weather in the summer. The sweet notes give it warmth for a cool day, the green notes give it a coolness for the evening. It projects well, but I would still apply it liberally because it IS an EDT! Take care!

Ha Ha Ha! 🤣😂🤣😂!!!! Did a bunch of people put that this reminds them of FB Fragrance's Hawas Sapphire because he's always shitting on Versace Blue Jeans! If so that's hilarious! Anyway I came here because I realized I haven't put this in my wardrobe or ranked it and all that. So I figured I'd proclaim my love for Blue Jeans and how it annoys me when young influencers shit on it. Don't get me wrong I like Fin, and it doesn't bother me that they don't like it. I just can't see how multiple influencers all shit on it at once. Like it was a some kind of fragrance hate mass psychosis. Anyway I think Blue Jeans is a masterpiece. It was like the first fragrance I can think of that has fresh and powdery sweet notes and does it so well. It's like a prototype for BDC and Dylan Blue, but I think it's still better than both.

Funny story about this one. I loved it in the 90s. It was one of my staples. Then faded away for about 25 years. I revisited it on a recent trip to Maine, and found a bottle for $18. I wore it up there for a couple of days, and it was cool, old-school vibes. My wife liked it. Then I came home, and I tried to put it in the rotation, but, for some reason, I just wasn’t Vibing worth it the way I used to. So I put it away. One day, I decided to use it as a car scent. Well, what a difference. Maybe by letting it sit for a little while, it started to grow on me. The car smelled amazing. So, it’s going back in the rotation. I wonder if I can find any of the other jeans fragrances?

Versace Blue Jeans is one of the best colognes under $20, crucify me. The lavender and iris hit with a powdery, clean smell. Immediate upon drying you smell warm pepper and a clean white musk, hint of woodsy cedar. It is a very floral and soft fragrance, yet masculine at the same time. This smells like a 17 year old Quarterback in 1981 who is questioning his sexuality and thinking of leaving his farm town once he graduates. That's what it smells like. If Blue Jeans has no defenders it means I've died. The fragrance is retro and continues to punch-up. Smells like a $50 frag and lasts a decent while. Pick up a bottle, disregard what the 14 year olds say on tiktok.

From the comments here it's strange to see how divisive this STILL is. I didn't like it at first, as it seemed overwhelmingly floral but somehow I ended up LOVING it. It's just such a seemingly simple fragrance (with a huuuuge note-listing) yet to me at least is a bit of a chameleon. Sometimes floral (and slightly retro) at other times fresh with lavender & citrus and almost a 'blue' fragrance vibe at others the cola-like sweetness comes to the fore. Still one of the best designer bargains available and I find it to be a timeless, easy wear & feel good scent (one of my complemented fragrances too!). I suggest giving Blue Jeans a few chances before discarding it.

Versace Blue Jeans for men: First purchased this one on vacation in Florida, 2008. I ran out of it and never replaced it until now. How I missed it! Perfect daytime spring and summer scent, its sweetness adds warmth for a cool spring or even summer day. Perfect one to wear on the boat, It could also be worn at night in the summer. It is both sweet and fresh and that combo will turn heads. I stand by the older fragrances, most new ones are just variants of sauvage, wanna be sauvage scents. Don’t smell like everyone else.. all the time.

I have never spent $20 so usefully. The creator of the perfume does not need to be introduced, one of the best professionals. Not particularly "blue" scent, much warmer, softer, euphoric sexy perfume.I noticed that the ladies like it. :o) The strongest component of the perfume is the nostalgia factor, which is why I tend to overestimate it a bit. Despite the many flowers, this is a very pleasant masculine scent. it can be felt from a few meters away and lasts for a long time. 7/10 maybe six but the ladies.....

Believe it or not I got compliments many times wearing blue jeans, don't listen to soft vanilla TikTok kids that wanna smell like a bubble gum or a honey pot or a chocolate bar! This scent holds a special place in my heart as one of my very first teenage fragrance purchases. It offers incredible performance and balance: strong and definitively manly without being cloying or harsh. The longevity is fantastic, and it projects beautifully throughout the day. For a fragrance made in 1994, it's remarkably timeless and doesn't smell dated. The price is also a huge plus, offering great value for such an established and respected brand.

Disclaimer: I’m slightly biased as my dad used to wear this when I was young. I’ve always had at least a bottle of this on hand and every time I wear it at least 1 person drops a compliment. The only negative comments I’ve had are from my dad’s ex wives haha. For the price this is the best year round fragrance. It projects in that 2-3 feet sweet spot for a couple hours, then sits a bit closer for a couple more hours.

This was my first fragrance as a teen and I used it for years. It got me a shit ton of compliments in high school and even in university, although it might not sit so well with more mature audiences :D. I can only echo the others before me, this is an amazing fragrance for young guys, you can get it on the cheap, performs nicely and is made for parties. Don't listen to old fragrantica nerds, if you like it, get it.

This is such a fun scent! I could wear Versace Blue Jeans almost every day, it is so nicely fresh and sweet and just a bit citrussy. Also, Blue Jeans can totally be worn as a unisex fragrance, there is no doubt about it. It just smells so clean and nice, almost laundry-like. I'd say this mostly fits a youthful audience, but I think most anybody could pull this off if they are young at heart. <3

Green, floral, lavender, creamy, powdery. This is 90s in a bottle, personally I think this is unisex. Love the clean lines of this fragrance, no it hasn't got the nuclear sillage of a £300 niche fragrance but it also means that no 15 year olds are wearing it, let them keep to their 20 sprays of Aventus and ombre nomade dupes so we can smell them from a mile away. A lot of reviewers here are from 15 to 17 years old. Just ignore those yaping. This scent is 90s in the bottle. In a good way. Real slaker juice. Maybe little bit on sweeter side then need. But anyway, you can wear blue jeans with your favourite plaid shirt and enjoying watching how this kids get middle age crisis and fragrance hyperfixation

I don't understand the comparison to laundry detergents. Blue Jeans is not like that for me. It is actually quite complex for the price point, even more so than Versace Homme. Yes, it has a stronger punch to it, which makes people say it is "synthetic" or cheap. To me, it just has a character - an original one, one to love.

I got this as a gift 6 years ago and I didn't like it. Since then I've mainly tested on paper but yesterday I randomly decided to spray it on skin and I loved it. Maybe my taste has matured. It's fresh in an aromatic way, which I think is uncommon. To me it smells like a pine tree and I like it, wore it to the gym today

One of the most complex fragrances I had an opportunity to wear. At the first spray, it smells very chemical, but afterwards, the floral notes take the lead. Smells perfectly sweet, very casual, sillage isn't the best but lasts around 6 hours. If only it could be improved, the fragrance would be perfect. 9.5/10

Absolute gem the fact it smells good last long as it does and is Versace and still dirt cheap I don't get the slander I won't have it. You can grab this and where it just about anywhere and not offend anyone you can wear at church or strip club can't do that with many things. 9/10 don't listen to tiktok rats

Overhated due to too many folks listening to you influencers. Im a field tech that wears this every day. Not one customer has complained, and have had a few give compliments. Overall I enjoy the scent especially the dry down. Vetiver/Sandlewood/Vanilla. Wraps it up nicely.

I love this fragrance, it is like a key that opens the memories of my childhood. I wish it performed better. I would pay top dollar for an edp or exdp version that used higher quality ingredients, which would probably be my dream fragrance. 8,5/10 Because of nostalgia

Yeah it smells like a mid 90s college dorm room of guys. That nostalgia is probably why women above 35 in my office praise this scent whenever I wear it. Especially the hotter ones. Fatties prefer the more food smelling gourmand scents. Go figure.

What a super friendly, pleasant fragrance, and it’s nearly free. Buy a gallon and use it liberally! Don’t believe everything you read...there’s nothing to dislike about it.

This is a great little inexpensive vintage fragrance. Most of my vintage fragrances that are real masculine tend to be strong woody, soapy or on the musky or spicy side. I'm 68 yet I find this to be a nice, casual light fresh fragrance with a hint of spice and sweetness that lingers even after a few hours. I typically do not like extremely sweet fragrances or tonka bombs ... but this one works ... just right! Hey ... give me this inexpensive Versache fragrance over the popular and very synthetic Nautica Voyage ... any day, any time. And for those who think that it smells dated ... no way! It's scent was ahead of It's time so the fragrance community has finally caught up. And ... it definitely is not a teen fragrance at all. It is a bit on the youthful/slightly sweet side that some might not like ... and at the same time it's definitely not an old man dated fragrance. As I said, I'm 68 and can definitely appreciate it being in my collection. Yes, the bottle is a bit funky ... but also a bit cute snd clever. Hey ... it's a budget fragrance that smells good and after all ... it's Versache ... YES!

Some JPG glazer kids get their entire opinions and personality from TikTok and they will try to tell you that blue jeans is a bad fragrance. Not even close. For the price I find it a really interesting and beautiful fragrance. I think the "old fashioned" critic is a valid one, it does smell a bit "vintage" and at times a little mature, but besides that, it smells really well blended and pretty complex for the price point. For me, it opens up like a fizzy, dry citrus that then becomes a floral woody fresh smell with the citrus sitting at the back, it gives some kind of clean fabric, laundry feeling. The performance is what you could expect from an EDT, with the advantage that at this price you dont even think twice before overspraying. I've heard some people say that they get this kind of coke smell from it. Personally I've never thought it smells like anything like that. Good, affordable and versatile, casual fragrance. Disclaimer: I don't have anything against JPG and I think it's a great fragrance firm, I just hate the TikTok hivemind kids that regurgitate the same opinions again and again.

If someone asks you to name an overhated or misunderstood fragrance, Blue Jeans should be the first that comes to mind. Most of the criticism comes from people it was never intended for, usually younger men in the 13-24 range. This fragrance was crafted in the 90s for a very different market in a very different culture. Even though I’m in my early 20s, I find Blue Jeans to be extremely unique and enjoyable. There really isn’t anything else that smells quite like it. For people who have only experienced SWY, ADG, BDC, or Sauvage, I can see how this fragrance might come across as harsh or even unwearable. I personally like it. Uniqueness is important to me. If I buy something, I don’t want it to smell like half of what I already own. Blue Jeans stands apart, does what it sets out to do, and for anyone over the age of 25 it is far from “repulsive.” Considering the price, I’d give it a solid 7/10. For less than an hour of work, you get a fragrance that’s bold, different, and worth trying.

It warmed up after the rain clouds blew out, so it was time for something brighter this afternoon. Bright fizzy citrus and juniper with a touch of anise for me on the open. Moving into a beautiful floral heart of rose, lily, honeysuckle, geranium, jasmine, and some others I can't pick out; it's a honey dripping bouquet of flowers. The sweetness of the flowers then shifts to the sweetness of the base in vanilla, tonka, and amber. This feels almost like a second middle layer because it's distinctly separate from the final base of sandalwood and cedar; nose to skin I think I'm getting vetiver but I might just be wanting to believe I get it. After the dry down I gave clothes a couple sprays and interestingly the herbal notes come through much better, but both sage and basil were in the heart; the clothes retained the citrus notes into the base as well. People consider this dated? It's great as an afternoon sunshine flowery pick-me-up refresher.

Versace Blue Jeans was a gift from my parents. They got it for me and they said it was a fresh, classic fragrance. Of course, I took it with a lot of high hopes, and it did not disappoint. The first few months were a bit bad, but I liked it and used it a lot. I decided to open it again after a few months, and it absolutely changed. Somehow, I smelled the citrus notes that used to be buried beneath some weird synthetic smells, and I absolutely loved that. Wore it EVERYWHERE until it ran out, planning on rebuying. I love the presentation, looks, smell, vibe, everything. Super nice old timey. Dad was right, pre 2010 fragrances hit harder. Every single dumb fragtok cuck would hate our tastes. Fahrenheit? "stINKy gASolInE" CK One and this? Genuinely 0 reasons, they just say it's bad. SWY Intensely? "nPC" we don't live in fragtok lil bro 💔 . Maybe I'm rambling, but yes, old timey aren't as bad as dumbasses online say.

Honestly, I’ve never understood the dislike for this fragrance. Back in my teenage party days, even though I wore more strong and underrated designer scents such as Prada Amber Pour Homme, I still considered Versace Blue Jeans a great fragrance – especially for young guys. It’s an aromatic, fairly synthetic party scent. Sure, it never got me as many compliments as Prada Amber Pour Homme (my number two fragrance when it comes to compliments), but I always thought it was a strong, modern, and very enjoyable scent for teenagers. There is a slightly off-putting note (probably the heliotrope), but it never really bothered me. For the price, it’s a solid fragrance with good sillage and longevity, leaning in the fougère direction. It’s the perfect scent for teenagers between 14 and 18 who don’t have wealthy parents. For what it costs, this fragrance really delivers a lot.
