Couture Jasmine

Received this unicorn in the mail today. First, about the bottle: When this was released, it came both with the leather sleeve and without. With the sleeve, it cost $475; without the sleeve, it was $250, according to Now Smell This. I want to be the first person to say that this perfume, leather sleeve or not, isn't worth either of those prices, and the charge for exclusivity is laughable at best, because this is a jasmine bomb that reminded me of both Lush's Lust and Alien. Furthermore, my bottle did come with the sleeve, and it's the most fragile, cheaply made leather packaging one can imagine for the price they charged. It's not full leather the whole way through. It's a cloth, cushioned material covered in the thinnest amount of blue leather possible. I'm talking thinner than paper. My sleeve was already peeling in some areas when I received it. As for the smell, it's like I said, a complete jasmine bomb. Not a bad thing at all! I love it, it's gorgeous and powerful and sexy, and it's one of those fragrances where one spray is enough. For the record, this is a sambac jasmine. It's got the exotic mentholated quality in its first stage, and that's what reminded me of Alien the most. I like this much more than Alien though, because it lacks the "grape" note that turned me off from that fragrance. It reminds me most of Lust in the dry down. Pure, dirty, raw, heady, punch-you-in-the-face jasmine. I don't get rose, and I barely get ylang ylang. To my nose, it's a jasmine soliflore with nothing easily discernible in the background. From memory, I can't tell it apart from the original Lust spray (old school 2011 version), but I'm not well-versed in jasmine. I'm planning on testing this side by side with both Lust and Alien when I get the chance, and will report back when I do. EDIT: wait, maybe this has grandiflorum in it too? Lust uses that type of jasmine, and the Versace smells more like that one than Alien. EDIT 2: My current favorite way of wearing this is during the daytime mixed with scentless lotion and leave in conditioner. Prevents the indoles from overwhelming the narcotic nuances of this very powerful jasmine.

This perfume is misnamed! It's COUTURE ROSE, not JASMINE! It isn't a rose soliflore, but rose is the most prominent note here, with jasmine and mimosa on its background. It's fresh, I have an impression there is a peony note here, or freesia... And it also reminds me of something I have already tried, and probably not only once. I would say COUTURE JASMINE is a nice perfume, but there definitely are a couple of its dupes on the market. Good news: it smells kind of "qualitative" and "expensive" while being girly and not serious at all.
