Encens Suprême

Surprised how much I like this. It's a lovely incense and leather fragrance. That's basically all it does, but it does it well. It's not very churchy. It doesn't smell of coriander at all. (Sorry, Givaudin, and your new captive molecule.) Completely linear (not an insult). Versace claim it has a middle of artificial woods (cashmeran, agikala). I like wood, but I don't smell it here. Certainly not these artificial "theoretical" wood notes - and that's good. Just leather and resins. (Edit: However, I could smell woods on clothes the next day.) The leather is so...erm...not quite "light," but way more "floaty" than in, say Acqua di Parma Leather or TF Tuscan Leather. It's like a babbling brook that carries the resins. I absolutely loved it. But £300? You can stuff that up your arse. The notes on fragrantica are off. Here's what Versayse say it is (and I can't smell the fake mid, thank goodness) : Top: Incense essence, saffron, coriander seeds (OrPur), smoke accord Heart: Akigalawood, cashmere wood, amber wood Base: Incense resinoid, leather accord, cistus absolute, musk Incense over leather broadly sums it up.

tldr: love love LOVE. I feel like a glamorous chorizo or a vigan longganisa when I wear this. it’s probably the coriander but this is almost a gourmand at first spray... gorgeously spicy and piquant, but not like chorizo breath/longganisa breath pungent, just like sharp and almost fresh; it then leads into this heady, smoky scent that, true to its name, reminds me of burning incense in a church. it develops a certain sweetness to it the longer it’s on me, and I can honestly say it’s such a fresh scent in my perfume wardrobe. longevity is very good, I woke up the next day and it was still there, and it survived a round or so of washing. sillage/projection is not too dangerously overpowering, but it is at my “wont choke out the entire subway car but will make hot people stop and stare when I walk past” kind of level. verdict: love it. need to work more so I can keep on buying it. it’s gonna become a mainstay. (ps: I have an emotional connection because this was purchased along with my first ever luxury bag. shoutout to giacomo in versace milano you’re a gem!!)

It is a fantastic blend of Chopard’s Nobile Vetiver and Montblanc’s Black Meisterstück (also a Jordi Fernández creation). While those two are absolute masterpieces that set the bar incredibly high, this Versace fragrance reaches an even higher level of quality. On my skin, it is also significantly more long-lasting. If you have the chance, you must smell it—it’s an incredible experience. It feels very, very prestigious. Sophisticated. Unique. Uplifting. Aristocratic. It has a calming effect and honestly puts a smile on my face. The fragrance features a high-quality, slightly earthy vetiver, which is beautifully balanced by the incense. Don't be intimidated by the incense note, though; it doesn't have that typical 'churchy' vibe at all. There’s also a hint of leather, but it’s very airy and blends seamlessly with the other notes. The bottle and the packaging are simply stunning!"

Definitely reminds me of Tom Ford Black Lacquer just a hair more aromatic. It’s really good juice. Woody. Sophisticated. Classical. Reminds me of my dad’s ancient black wooden dresser. Timeless. Nostalgic. Hidden with secrets untold until the time is right for coming of age. This fragrance pairs AMAZINGLY with Tabac Imperial.

Wood smoke (quite a lot) plus coriander over a resinous woody labdanum base that has some honey nuances. Smells like a woody orange blossom/petitgrain note tucked in there somewhere too, and that coupled with the coriander and honeyed amber definitely do call to mind Tauer's iconic LADDM, but this scent is lighter, rawer, and without the slightly chocolatey patchouli nuances. Honeyed incense and wood smoke. Evokes copper and maroon colors to me. Another somewhat related scent is, oddly enough, Kenneth Cole Copper Black, though that scent is a fair bit sweeter, less smoky, and significantly less strong. Still, they share a common core accord. Sadly it is just too smoky on me and becomes tiresome by the end of the dry down.

Similar to other fragrances in the "Atelier" line, Encens Suprême is very linear and not long-lasting, which may not be worth it to some given its high price. I'm surprised at how close this gets to achieving the same dry/woodsy/incense scent profile as L'Air du Desert Marocain. However, this is much more linear and focused primarily on the incense (olibanum) and woods. Go for it if you enjoy LDDM, but are looking for something less funky/complex and more wearable.

Vile. Not only is the price insulting but the both the formula and the blend of this is poor. Avoid.

One of the "Cons" on Fragrantica says this has "niche, lacks mass appeal" and I'd agree. I love Jordi Fernandez's work but this is a challenging one. First things first, this is one of the excellent L'Atelier Versace line of their flagship fragrances and there are some seriously heavyweight powerhouses in there, most notably the outstanding Patchouli Precioux which is one of the most underrated fragrances I own. Encens Supreme is, for the first twenty minutes or so, just jammy, sweet but also sour notes that smell a little like a pot of jam that has started to turn. It is cloying and I think almost unwearable. I was worried, I have to admit. Then it starts to dry down in earnest and it emerges. The olibanum incense starts to calm down and goes really ecclesiastical. The cistus in it works with the earthiness of the coriander seed to evoke flowing robes, silent walking through cloisters and the faint smell of red wine and mothballs. I don't know if that is what Mr Fernandez was going for but I went to an all boys' catholic school run by the De La Salle Brothers and this is seriously evocative stuff. It makes me feel guilty and contemplative (and thus more guilty and unworthy) just smelling it. I close my eyes and I can actually hear hymnals and Gregorian chanting. The incense in this is smoky and a bit regal. It is cathedral incense not parish chapel incense if that makes sense. It goes from over-sweet, borderline sour/spoiled cloying and not very appealing to a regal, expansive, expensive incense with some nuances behind that make this a bit more wearable than it first appears. It is incredibly strong. You absolutely do not want to overspray this. Is there a honey accord in this? There is no musk (which feels inappropriate? Just me?) but there is cashmeran to try to smooth down the rougher edges. Truthfully, I would like to see more of this. It still feels a bit too heavy and omnipotent. In an oddly appropriate nod to its religious connotations, this smells way better from a distance as sillage than it does up close. From a few feet away it smells of power, glory and the sort of wealth only the Catholic Church can pull off. But up close as a skin scent it is furtive; redolent of regret, silence, mothballs, guilt and the tart sourness of something sweet that spoiled a bit. This is a fragrance for when you are absolutely 100% sure you are not going to be getting closer than a foot or two to other people. It would, for example, be the sort of thing that would guarantee you a place in Eternal Damnation were you to wear it on an aeroplane. I'm sure Jordi Fernandez was not trying to bottle pious chastity but it gives me this vibe. It is certainly fair to say you'd need to love - and mean really, really, **really** love - incense to enjoy this one. I do but it is probably a little too heavy for me and I don't see myself buying a full bottle here. Fine and interesting work for sure, but not something I would really wear. [Encens Suprême] ⚫️⚪️⚪️⚪️⚪️ ‘Diet Smoke’ Heaps of iso e super and plenty of vertofix. Tiny amounts of labdanum, cedar and vetiver. Birch and cypriol in here for the smoke faucet. For sweetness, a little benzoin perhaps? There’s also something slightly raspberry-leaning hidden in here. This all sits on a bed of laundry musks and cashmeran. This perfume feels clumsy and aimless. Oddly fluffy too thanks to ethyl linalool, iso e, vertofix and musks. There’s very little lift or vigour to be experienced. Overall, Versace’s Encens Suprême is flat and completely lacking depth. There are countless better incense-centric fragrances out there, at a far better price too. £300 for Encens Suprême is absolutely delusional, in fact it’s disgusting. This is the facade of an incense perfume. Completely two dimensional, Truman Show levels of fakery. Stay away at all costs.

Smoky coriander... I get here as well some wood shaving vibes with more of dusty incense, coriander, smoke, dust, & powdered olibanum. The top notes differs from the cooldown but has that slight vibes of smoky dust. It is like the ancient book of a sorcerer in a fairytale NOT the witch-crafting cause this one is more of a fairytale amusing type of dusty book. Nice but love the top note more than the cooled down.

This is a very well done incense fragrance, don't heed the negative reviews. I collect a lot of incense fragrances , this is a nice blend of smokey incense and musk. Lasts long on my skin and has moderate projection. The bottle is stunning. Your definitely getting quality with this both the juice and the bottle. 9/10

Kaka... A favorite scent of mine that reminds me of the fragrance creation by Encens Suave Matiere Premiere.

A beautiful winter occasion perfume, incense resinous with the scent of amber, musk and cashmere wood.

Encens Supreme smells like bakhoor, smore, oudh, incense, a pleasant arabic fragrance.

Very high quality, reminds me of Andy Tauer - Incense Extreme.
