Green Jeans

Versace Green Jeans was one of my favourite perfumes in the 90s, when I first became interested in perfumes. It was accessible and I found it original, vibrant and sexy and this is always enough for a teenager. Eventually I discovered Versace L'Homme and today I still have both perfumes... testing them at the same time makes me realise how much they have in common, to the point of thinking that VGJ might actually be an attempt to adapt VL'H to a wider audience. They share a woody-chypre structure of citrus and herbal opening and a core of carnation over oakmoss and woods. VL'H emphasises carnation and oakmoss and accompanies them with dense, oily citrus (especially lemon) and a very subtle, buttery leather note. Carnation and oakmoss are also key elements in VGJ, perfectly detectable but less heavy, taking the perfume out of the 80s and into the 90s; though the opening is more sparkling and the base is a strong coniferous note, which provides its special personality. VL'H feels mature and elegant, but without renouncing the irreverence that Gianni endowed his creations with, while VGJ is much more casual, dynamic and, why not say it: synthetic. Both are the offspring of an unique and unrepeatable mind and creative genius.

This was one of my favourites for a time, so green, fresh, yet on me a pine note that never strayed into cleaning chemicals. It smelled amazing and I was a proper fresh woody fragrance with a citrus twist. I'm not going to spend money on buying a vintage bottle because they are wildly overpriced, and I doubt the citrus chemicals have remained that stable over time. I'd love to see this come back, but seeing as the house canned Versace Man and kept Man Eau Fraiche I doubt their judgement. I do have Davidoff Horizon and they are more like cousins than brothers, nothign have come close, Pino Silvestre should be avoided, unless you crave disappointment, I live in hope a dupe house decides to do a run of all the Jeans fragrances for some crazy reason. It's that or i have to start my own company just to get my hands on it again. Back in the day, I was either wearing this or JPG Fleur de Male Updated 10/5/25- a UK based dupe house Jubilee Scents is now doing this fragrance. I have bough a bottle and have high hopes. Updated 30/5/25- I have my dupe bottle, and other than the opening being a little rougher and the lime note being not quite right, this is 90% there and i'm content with that.

I started using Fragrantica because I needed help finding alternatives To Ralph Lauren Romance Silver, YSL Live Jazz and Green Jeans which are all finished. Admittedly I am writing and joined because of some reviews posted here. 1welshdevil and iconoclast helped me (thank you) > I purchased the current version of Horizon and you have helped me enjoy the wonders of it. I;m not sure comparing Horizon to GJ is do fair. Horizon to me is a budget scent that has bang for it s buck and lasts ages. Really, its just three things Lemon, Smoky (thats the lavender and oak moss) and Pine Kick at the end THATS IT. To suggest buying that over GJ as its the same is not fair to me as I find GJ more complex.. Green Jeans has a greater multitude of components (like the pyramid suggests and unusually I'm pretty much going to agree with it in this instance) that ends in a more subtle pine. Pino Sylvestre has an artificial prominent pine scent so only similar at best (again a simple old mans fragrance - which I also own btw). If anybody has any suggestions that are closer or worth a try please let me know, I'm down to my last 10ml. ;.(

I am guessing we are all in our 40s? I remember after Blue Jeans and Baby Blue, comes Green Jeans if order is correct? Then Black Jeans? I can still remember wearing this to school everyday. The opening burst of lemony limey citrusy is oooh wow! Can't stop sniffing myself and the scent last for many hours! Update: Just got my bottle yesterday from a local seller who is also decluttering his old stocks. Should be the last available bottle in my country already it seems.

After a long time searching for this, finally I got it! I'm just so glad! Just like the Blue one, this is a classic and truly pure woody. While Blue Jeans is about vanilla and musk, Green Jeans is all about pine. Blue Jeans is sweeter and smoother and this is somehow stronger and sharper. And of course, both have great longevity. Love this line!
