Patchouli Précieux

This is Jordi Fernández’s masterpiece and, in my opinion, his finest creation. I have tried many perfumes crafted by him, but none come close. If he ever had it in him to create something this exquisite, it must be his love letter to the world of Versace. What a decadent, luxurious, and indulgent perfume. It feels like royalty in a bottle. If this had been released by a niche house, people would be losing their minds over it. But because it carries the Versace name, it stays understated, flying just under the radar. Let’s keep it between us, low-key. Posh, perfectly unisex, and flawlessly balanced. The scent profile is incredibly complex. Do not let the note pyramid fool you—this fragrance could easily hold its own alongside Bvlgari’s Le Gemme line, Amouage, or even Xerjoff. That is how good it is. A solid 100/10

This a very unique fragrance. I haven’t sampled one like it yet. If you are looking for a powerhouse masculine fragrance that lasts and projects like a beast then this is the fragrance for you. Nobody else will smell like you unless they are wearing this.

Beautiful, rich and sweet. Not patchouli though. All the sweetened patchouli fragrances I've ever come close to do not smell like this. Beautiful work though. Not a huge fan of the Versace fragrances. Gianni Versaces clothes are a work of art.

It’s a very pleasant scent. Sweet, fresh, and slightly spicy. It sat on my skin for around 5-6 hours becoming a skin scent quite early on, but I don’t get that much patchouli from this fragrance despite its name. It’s definitely signature scent worthy, if you have the money to constantly repurchase this, but I must say it’s not that special/unique of a scent. If you compare it to your daily designer, sure, you could say it’s a little different, but it’s not something I’ve never smelled before. I tested this to see how I liked it, got multiple compliments and I enjoyed it as well, but is it worth the price point? Personally no, but I wouldn’t tell you not to buy it, the profile is beautiful.

This is a linear pleasant scent. Not complex yet refined. Saffron, amber, spices, pretty much it. Nothing groundbreaking at all, reminds me of Papilefiko from Nishane and a few others. My only issue is - where's the patchouli?? As a big patch head, I'm still looking for the patch and it's absolutely nowhere to be found. So why on Earth name a fragrance with an ingredient that's not even present at all?? SMH Versace :(

Lovely plum note supported by a dense but clean and likable patchouli. The sweetness reminds me to some extent of Mr Sam by penhaligons, even though these are different to each other.

Oud, powdery, iris, quite strong. Pleasant but not sure I would wear it.

Lord of Misrule vibes + saffron

Straight away I get strong Paragon/Vintage Radio vibes from Patchouli Précieux due to the woody plum. The emerald green bottle is my favourite from the 4 new releases. It’s an ashy patchouli that’s quite gun-powdery but it’s warmed by the amber and spicy nutmeg. The plum adds some bright zest but again I’m just reminded of Paragon. Dry, powdery, ashy, metallic, golden-warm and spicy but I’d just get Vintage Radio over this.

I am not sure why I have tended to eschew Versace fragrances historically. I don't know the reason. I think maybe it's the ultra-premium, ultra-wealthy aesthetic of their clothes. You see the Russians and Italians wandering round Dubai wearing the Versace slides and the intricately patterned tracksuits, fussy sunglasses and all that stuff and there is something a bit over-ostentatious about it. It is a clothing designer I feel like people wear when they want everyone in the room to know they have lots of money and are successful. I'm not necessarily that kind of guy. But for some reason the Versace fragrances have always been lumped into the same sort of box for me. A bit over the top ostentatious perhaps? I went to Harvey Nichols tonight in Mall of the Emirates and the assistant was showing me the Rojas, Memos and Crivellis. These just seem a bit....cooler? Maybe? More niche maybe? He asked me if he could show me something and I went with him. He showed me the Atelier Versace line and the bottles look much like you'd expect. Over the top, big, showy, show-offy. But I tried the Patchouli Precieux at his direction, expecting nothing much and..... ..... was absolutely taken aback in all the good ways. It is an impossibly luxurious fragrance. For some reason it fits with the Versace aesthetic but at the same time is so refined. It is of the same world as those patterned tracksuits but nothing like it. Patchouli Precioux is curated in a way that is much less overblown, slightly tacky maritime gold theme material patterns and much more evocative of the best formal tailor in Italy. I've never been to such a tailor but I imagine it to be an old style shop with rolls of fabric on dusty shelves stretching off into the gloom of the roof. The floors are finely polished ancient mahogany. There is a spotlessly polished art deco coffee machine from the 1920s at the back of the shop but only for the tailor. the cash register is mechanical. The smell is decades of fine tailoring, impeccable taste, of the finest fabrics known to man or woman, some unused since the 80s but lying there in cool, dark anonymity, never leaving the mind of the tailor who has a supernatural ability to turn these God-like fabrics into something more than a cashmere wool blend and silk lining. You can smell the depth, the age, the unspoken class of it all. There is a musk of genius against the floorpolish, fine coffee beans, dust, amber and cashmere in the shop. This is what this fragrance smells like - not the coffee, cashmere and floor polish but what they represent. Of the actual fragrance the initial blast is intense but calm. It doesnt scare. It doesnt scream. The patchouli is there (it isn't actually, there is actually none in this) but the spices, wood and amber are the understated stars of the show here. It dries down to a sweeter, slightly fruity note that you are not expecting on first hit, when the amber is at its strongest. For such a strong and long-lasting fragrance the notes change very quickly and dynamically, it is a real wonder. It is almost as if they are showing off. "Look! Look what I can do with this smell. Look how I can make the same smell, smell different and change in your nostrils." In keeping with the the Italian tailor metaphor, there is masterful technical skill here. It is a masterclass in walking someone through the olfactory sense of a layered fragrance as he pads around you with the same tape measure he has used since 1967 and pins stuck into his lapel. Tiny little rimless rectangular glasses perch on the end of his tanned nose, holding on as if through force of will alone. His face is inscrutable as he goes about his work, making magic. This smells like that. I hope you'll forgive the laboured figurative speech. I'm new to niche perfumes. I hope you'll forgive me some over-enthusiastic gushing when I say that I've never smelt anything like this. Nothing with the complication and dynamism of this heavy green bottle. The technical skill and mastery here is levels above anything I've encountered. It's a real education. The rubicon has just been crossed for me. Tonight was the night it happened. The dry down is sweeter as I've said. You get a nutmeg and dried fruit ending but there is no sign of it wearing off. It doesnt wane but it does change. It is powerful, heavy, insistent. I can already tell this is a compliment monster that will stay with you all day in its best form, without wrinkles, like the suit the diminutive Italian master tailor produces. It actually makes me want to go get a new suit fitted just to wear it with this fragrance. I now know that a Versace bottle CAN be niche and it CAN be something that inspires you and does all the things that a fine fragrance can do. All the things that people who arent into what we love, do not fully grasp. It isnt a daily wearer. But it is something very, very special that you wear when you want to make a statement. When you want to be the best dressed person in the room and for everyone to know that you are and that you are in that effortless way that speaks but doesn't yell. If Versace adorned designer wear is "success in a label" and is worn as such here in Dubai by everyone who want you to know, then maybe this fragrance isnt so far from it after all. I may not care for the aesthetic but I sure as anything care about the smell and the message. If it truly is a "love letter to Versace" then I absolutely get it. What a stunning - and slightly humbling - experience. Seriously, cannot recommend enough. Thanks for reading. A very beautiful fragrance that I bought as soon as it was released. For those who want patchouli with a different, more uplifting facet, I recommend this fragrance because it is iconic and absolutely beautiful. Uniqeness:10/10 Longavity : 10/10

A safe blind buy if you love sweet fragrances! Very similar to Sacred Bond no a clone but similar! mine was a blind buy I have to say I love it! ❤️

The start is a bit OP with the patchouli, but turns into something very warm and syrupy. Definitely turns gourmand!
