Versace Man Eau Fraiche

I have a story about this fragrance that really transformed my fragrance philosophy and hopefully offers a new, worthwhile perspective to others. This is my first cologne and I bought it this spring before I knew anything about sillage, longevity, or any smart fragrance terminology. I even overpaid $95 at Macy's without knowing better (at least I got shower gel and a cool Verace travel bag). I wore it every day with confidence. I got compliments on it. I even wore it over a gifted bottle of YSL Y EDP I got the previous Christmas. When I eventually realized it didn't last that long, I naturally began over-spraying. Throughout that spring and subsequent summer, without realizing it, I was wearing this fragrance during a joyous and monumental time in my life. I graduated college, spent my entire summer across Europe with my family and friends, and made memories that will forever define who I am. Always alongside me: Versace Man Eau Fraiche. Eventually, I visited a friend who had family and a place in Dubrovnik. That city truly embodies this fragrance's smell: sun-glazed crystal water, fresh, beautiful, relaxed -- but that's beside the point. I realized my flight back to Belgrade did not include a checked bag, meaning it wouldn't make it through airport security. So I gave her the remaining 40-ish percent of my bottle and asked if she could take it back to the States with her and I'll pick it up from there. I spent the next month and a half without this fragrance, discovering new ones, and getting involved in this niche, fun, and sometimes hilariously pretentious community. Always excited to internally debate about what my next fragrance was going to be. Then, finally, back in LA, at my birthday party, my friend brought me this fragrance back. I naturally gave it a whiff, and everything came rushing back: My graduation, the seaside Dubrovnik villa, Sarajevo's surrounding hills, my family's commie block in Belgrade, that one time I got food poisoning from this weird Croatian hot dog. It was a brief, unexpected tsunami of memories and emotions. That is what makes this my best fragrance of all time. It was my first and will always be. Our sense of smell has been proven to be closely linked to our emotions. It's why regular smells such as gasoline or Irish Spring soap weirdly hold such nostalgic value to me. It's why we always distinctly remember how our loved ones or ex(s) smelled. It is this uniquely powerful correlation between scent and emotion that I believe the world of fragrance holds the most potential. Find a scent that really activates something within you. Or, in my case, you don't even have to do that. Just find a pleasant scent. Live in it. Grow with it. And when the day comes you grow a little tired with it, you will forever have a wonderful, irreplicable vessel back to that time in your life.

For full disclosure; this is a fragrance that holds a special place in my collection and I have a lot of experience with it. This was actually my first fragrance I ever bought back in 2016 & for years after that Man Eau Fraîche was my fragrance for everything. I currently have two bottles of it, a 200ml that is over half empty and a 30ml travel size that I used for the photo simply because it photographed better. Interestingly the opening and dry down for this fragrance smell almost the same to me. The opening has a citrus note that fades slightly as it dries down. The pleasant notes of musk and woodiness start to blend very nicely with the citrus. There are some other notes that appear as well that I can’t recognize but I believe they are star fruit based on the notes listed on Fragrantica. This is a very basic fragrance but in a nice way, for me this is an easy no thoughts need fragrance for any occasion. The notes are suited more for warmer weather but after wearing on this fragrance for a couple years I can say it can work any time of year. In terms of projection and longevity it’s unfortunately a little bit hard for me to say; I’m fairly certain that after how long and often I’ve worn this fragrance, even though I don’t wear it as often as I used to, that I am slightly nose blind to it. For today I could smell it for around 7 hours in total, with 6 hours of strong wear before it faded out entirely by the end of hour 7. For longevity I would give it a 7/10, I feel that for a fragrance as light as Man Eau Fraîche that this is good longevity. My thoughts on projection for this fragrance both based on today and passed wear. I find projection to be quite good as well, slightly outside of arms length. I also will note that I have worn this one enough to revive a fair number of compliments on it over the years. I would give it a 7/10 for projection as well. Overall I think this is an amazing fragrance, especially for the low price point and it’s easy wearing nature. I would give this a 9/10 but I think a 7 or 8 out of 10 would be more realistic.

Versace Man Eau Fraiche is truly legendary, nearing 20 years old. . . It stands out in the now oversaturated blue fragrance market. It has the DNA of any other blue freshie, but very crisp, airy but also has that citrus bite. However, the most important part of Eau Fraiche is the starfruit; it's what makes this fragrance unique because on top of a now generic blue fragrance sits the starfruit which if youve never eaten has a pineapple/lemon hybrid allure, depending on ripeness it can even taste pear or mango like. It's a very unique fruit and perfumer Cresp made it stand out so perfectly! Sadly I've only seen starfruit in fragrances marketed towards women, but it's still underused in fragrances two decades later. If you like Versace Pour Homme you'll love this, & vice-versa, in Pour Homme you trade the floral rose for starfruit! Both are elite & are timeless. It's a great gym sent, primarily suited for warmer weather but decent for all year, while it's not musky like other blue scents, compared to a Dylan Blue (which is too musky in my opinion for a gym scent, Eau Fraiche is not, despite the wood & musk listed as notes, theyre only slightly present) this fragrance can thrive in temperature controlled environments year round! For a blue fragrance its longevity is 6 plus hours. Id also say it's one of best performing blues on the market, instead of having to over spray like with similar DNA's, this fragrance can hold its own within 2-4 sprays. I don't believe in blind buying, but Versace Man Eau Fraiche is the only one I'd reccomend. Teenagers, young adults, middle aged men, elderly; Eau Fraiche is suited for all, even some women use it for the starfruit! 10/10

The absolute all time #1 summer freshy. My girlfriend calls this the "fuck boy scent" in the best of ways (she loves it too). My go to summer/spring frag. Gym scent, not sporty. Not played out like savauge and no one will know what it is when you walk by however. I wear it day and night. Work and chill. Edit* Sprayed "Encre Nior" and a few seconds later a spray of this on the same wrist. Suddenly you mix one of the most hardcore earthy vetivers of all time with a summer time freshy making a unique you'll never smell like anyone else in the history of the world - fall scent. I did notice that the older bottle got spicier and less fresh, and my travel size is fruiter than my big new bottle probably from sitting in my car through 4 different seasons. Perhaps it depends on the batch. The scent is hard to describe. Its not soapy, its not aqua, its not green, its not sporty. Its just refreshing. The best way i can describe it is Garnier Fructis orginal shampoo which is "green apple, citrus, and a little melon" but in a masculine way. The sunnier the better for this frag. Personally i love it. Extremely happy to find a fruity "miami tropical vacation" type scent that isnt ruined with coconut when it dries down. I just wish it lasted longer and was a little fruiter honestly. With that being said, I am going to try out Aura Fresh Armaf being that it is a EDP and reviews state it lasts longer and may be fruiter? Problem is, for a "dupe" it's literally a few dollars cheaper than the real thing, so last time I needed a bottle I ended up getting the orginal. Easy blind buy.

Versace Man Eau Fraiche, now 20 years later still maintains its exceptional DNA despite reformulations, its only change is a slight reduction in performance by about an hour or two. It opens with the now oversaturated "blue" DNA but a VERY unique citrusy, fruity & crisp bite; that starfruit note, which is STILL underutilized in both mens/womens perfumery! Starfruit is aquatic, tropical & fruity but by no means cloying or too sweet. For those who've never smelt starfruit in person, this is very realistic on what youd get which is surprising its not used more! The green base emerges on the dry down, the spicy cardamom is subtle but effective, hints of saffron & woods. I adore this DNA, its masculine but leans slightly unisex! This is still what I consider as one of the best fresh/blue fragrances of all time, that starfruit is so unique, it really blends the other notes expertly; what's best is you can find this at resale stores/discounters for pennies practically! Its also age friendly! I've seen teenagers to middle aged people wear it. Its modern even after all these years.

LONG LIVE THE KING...... ....well, sort of. I first discovered this scent in 2012 at a duty free shop inside Hong Kong's airport. I was connecting there on my way for a 2 month work trip to Guangzhou, China. I purposely didn't bring a scent with me so I could buy one in transit and have it with me for the trip and wanted to have a new fragrance to commemorate it. I am so glad I found this. The freshness was so great in the humid / hot weather I was going to be in. This developed so well with my body PH and radiated in the heat (like most freshies). I agree that the longevity of this is not that great but if you do more than 10 sprays such as I do....well then this king will live on. And I say king because, here were are 20 years later still talking about it. And at the prices this is readily available at, you won't have to go to distant lands or kingdoms to find it. So what if you have to spray a little extra, there is no confusion over how much people really love it, but LOVE to hate it over the lasting power. I think his reign will live on another 20 years.

Man Eau Fraîche has become one of my favorite reach-for scents when the weather heats up. The star fruit note is unique and super tropical — bright, juicy, and refreshing with just the right amount of sparkle. Everything feels well blended, with the citrus, woods, and musk coming together in a smooth and balanced way. The opening lasts around 2.5 to 3 hours before it fades into a soft skin scent that stays close but still feels clean and put-together. It’s the perfect fragrance to grab when you’re running out the door to do errands, especially in higher heat. For the quality and versatility you get, it’s great bang for your buck, which makes it an easy one to keep in steady rotation. I bought an 8ml sample of this via FragranceNet, and intend to get a full bottle of it. After the number of wears I've had, I’d say that this is definitely blind buy worthy for those looking for a cheapie. Sometimes the established basics are just the best, and this is how I'd describe this - it's the ultimate tool kit fragrance for the warmer weather (or really anytime). It just smells clean, fresh, perfectly balanced aromatic, citrus and aquatic and it's hard to imagine anyone not liking it. Obviously office Safe, versatile as they come from formal, through ultra casual- just perfect if it's warm outside. It's probably one of the few bottles that everyone should own in their collection (and probably does) We all know performance is an issue. Spray heavy and often, like sun spray apply liberally and often! It' also layers amazingly well and you can basically put anything over it - with the exception maybe of the evening vanilla forward types. My basic use is apply like you would a decodernt first thing, if on holiday for the hotel breakfast, trip to the pool. Then when you want a bit more, just wack on something stronger later on . For what it is 9 out of 10 - only issue is the performance.

Echoing all the positive comments already said about this frag, bought a 100ml tester for $30 just to see if it lives up to the hype and it definitely does. Starfruit is the main character here, supported by the cast of citruses and woody notes. The refreshing vibe is such a saviour in the hot and humid climate where I live! Liked it so much I ordered a backup. Perfect for casual outings, trip to the grocery store, walking the dog, or just whenever you want to feel fresh during a sweltering day out. Dumb reach for summer certified! Man Eau Fraiche is especially great for indoor sports and gym, since you don’t want to choke whoever is in your vicinity with your perfume, especially if you’re going to be sweaty and don’t want to smell like rancid cheese. Performance for a EdT is decent, I get 2 hours of arm-length projection at 30°C+, after 3 hours it becomes a skin scent. Will definitely try layering with another scent to see if that improves longevity...

First impressions of this fragrance - When I first started using this last year I got like 4-5 hours of longevity and projection of about an hour. Got a dominant smell of lemons in the opening and a dry down of a woody fragrance. Forward to today - I used it last year summer then I let it mascerate and trust me this changed the game completely. Got a lasting of about 10 hours and a heavy projection of 1 hour while still having a light 1 feet projection for 3 hours after that and then it was a skin scent. I had applied it both on clothes and on skin, on skin lasted 10 hours and on clothes about 12-13 hours. The scent profile also had some changes, it started with the punch of start fruit and a bit peppery and the dry down felt like musky cedar with some woodsy aspect. Trust me guys if you ever buy this cologne let it mascerate for atleast two months and see the results.

This is one of my most favorite fragrances of all time. The star fruit note is so tasteful and unique. The whole fragrance is uplifting, aquatic, musky and delightfully fruity in a way that transports the wearer to an Italian hotel overlooking the Mediterranean. The longevity is good if your skin is hydrated, though the projection isn’t the best. It’s not cloying or sour so you can overspray it quite a bit, and the star fruit note really pops out when it’s warm but not super hot. It’s still a little expensive for being an older fragrance even on discounters, so I’d wait until it’s marked down a bit on jomashop. I got a 6.7oz for $70.

Fantastic summer fragrance. Scent itself is to my nose woody citruses and I like it a lot. Citrus and wood combo makes it very manly summer scent but not like 40+ manly just manly. Projection is I'd say arm length but its hard to estimate as you don't smell the scent yourself still my friend noticed it. Longevity is what you'd expect from a citrus freshie, about 5-6h max. Its great for warm and hot weather as it's very airy and not cloying at all. Also this scent is great for the gym. I got 100ml for 50€ and would still buy this again. I used about 50ml of this last summer as I drenched myself in this. Would recommend.

Fragrance Journal Entry #133 This stuff is just amazing, it checks all the warm weather boxes, good performance, bright and refreshing, compliment getting, and unique. I've never smelled anything else quite like this, the starfruit really stands out. This is a MANS scent, it doesn't lean too youthful like most Versace releases nowadays and it's the only scent from Versace worth owning imo. With that said i had a buddy in high school that wore this alot and everytime i wear it, it reminds me of him so for that reason i'll finish my bottle and likely won't repurchase again. Rating: 8.2/10 Blind Buy Safe? YES

Such an amazing hot day scent, am a bit surprised to see mandarin is not a listed note but regardless super nice. Scent: To me, like when you infuse mandarin/orange and mint in water IN THE BEST way possible Performance: unfortunately hot trash, but if they had to make it much stronger to improve performance I don't know if it would be worth it just because almost no other fragrance is this good on the hottest days Other: Even though it doesn't last long, on really hot days just bring the 50ml in your bag and spray it before you enter the building/room your first impression will be enough

This is a really great, light and beautiful smelling summer scent. Very unique. Very masculine. My first fragrance ever was Montblanc Starwalker, and this smells exactly like it (though this came out first, and Starwalker is probably a dupe of it). The starfruit adds a slight nuance from Starwalker as well. The smell is this great, sparkly citrus and woodsy scent that is perfect for the beach, summer vacations, or hangouts in the heat! Even good for the office during summer. It doesn't last super long, but it can be found for very cheap on discounters, so just overspray! Good stuff.

I wear this on summer vacations, when I'm going to the beach or when I'm going by the water at the boardwalk in my city. Perfect casual scent. Its really a fraiche concentration even though its marketed as an EDT - so you'll have to respray after a couple of hours. Respray liberally, you will not offend anyone. If you've sampled it and you really like it, then go for the largest size you can get your hands on. Buy a refillable atomizer and keep it handy with you when you'll be out for long hours. 8/10 for me.

Man Eau Fraiche is another addictive and crowd-pleasing fragrance from Versace. I don’t know how they do it, but they always seem to nail it. It’s very safe, elegant, and likable. I can’t quite pinpoint why, but Versace fragrances never feel simple to me despite using fairly common notes. They always come across as classic and well put together. I think that’s what distinguishes a high-quality, mass-appealing designer scent from a generic one. I just wish there were an EDP version so it could last longer.

A beautiful, easy to wear citrus scent for high heat. Fantastic for pool/beach days or super hot days out. It's 20 years old as I write this, but it doesn't come off as dated at all. It's so simple and fresh. Genuinely insane performance for a freshie, I get about 2-3 hours of decent projection, and it dries down into a nice woody skin scent and lasts about 7-8 more hours. Very very impressed, maybe it's my skin chemistry. This thing hangs out with Dior Homme Cologne and Missoni Wave at the pool.

Honestly, this is my favorite fresh fragrance ever. Smells so nostalgic. This fragrance leaves itself to be discovered, an antitheses to the current new trend of fragrances with massive sillage and projection. And thats okay for me. Great everyday fragrance you can wear without causing migraines across the office but still getting compliments. Also something about this fragrance smells metallic to me. Ive kept a bottle of this since i was 16. Would love to see them release an EDP of this

Based on these terrible reviews, new batches must be arse 🤣 Sorry to you all lol. But this is one of my most complimented fragrances since the 2010s. The scent trail this leaves (especially for a freshie) is unlike anything else i’ve ever smelled. If someone walks past me wearing this i will almost always break my neck to follow the scent. Today i walked past someone else that gave me this very same reaction. It’s precisely how i ended up here and writing this review.

On clothing it actually projects rather well and get compliments on it throughout my work day 6 to 8 sprays. The wafts I get as I move about through the day is so relaxing/fresh. This fragrance is in my top favourite summer freshies along with Dolce Gabbana Light Blue for Women. I am a woman and this fragrance is perfectly unisex. Anyone can wear this. It opens with pleasant fresh citruses and starfruit followed by a touch of mild aromatic spices that blend perfectly into the musky woody drydown with a touch of amber. This has surprising lasting power for a freshie. I will always have a bottle of this in my collection.

I do have a massive soft spot for this frag I'll be honest It's by no means the best summer freshie but holy FUCK it's gorgeous, pops off my skin so well and lasts for ages if I overspray. Versace have achieved a pretty perfect level of masculinity blending the fruits and woods in this, very invigorating and perfect for high heat. Also not super expensive and the bottle looks wicked! Would definitely recommend and easily a blind buy 9/10

This has been my signature scent for about a year, it’s so versatile that I can’t help but wear it almost everywhere. It’s good for school because you smell fresh and it’s not overpowering, but it’s also good for less casual events for the same reason. Projection isn’t the greatest, so it’s not the best for wearing a suit and tie, but still the most versatile fragrance in my collection.

I’m seriously obsessed with this stuff—ended up grabbing the massive 200 ml bottle because I basically shower in it every day. Honestly, it’s one of my favorite summer scents ever. The only downside is that it fades pretty fast, but that’s just how fresh summer fragrances are. No biggie, I just keep reapplying it! 8/10. if longevity and the projection was there easly 10/10

In 2010 I smelled it on the guy I low-key liked. This perfume was such an aphrodisiac for me I literally kept his almost-empty bottle for myself just to smell it from time to time. I loved it THAT much. I love the freshness of it and definitely have fond teen memories on this fragrance. It's been years since the last time I smelled it. Shame the performance is weak.

Love this warm weather masterpiece. It has this pop to it when you first spray it that is sooo energizing and intoxicating on my skin. Someone mentioned sour in a previous review and I agree but I think it's a good kinda sour like sour Skittles. I have found that I really like cedar and star fruit notes and this has both. Probably why I like it so much.

Smelled this after having it stored away for a couple years... what can I say? It smells really nice. Citrusy starfruit with some woody notes in the background. Has a bit of an aquatic swimming pool vibe going on. Perfect for warmer weather. It won't blow you away, but this is one of those fragrances that I think is pleasant enough for everyone.

One of the safest blind buy men fragrances you can get. Smells amazing, extremely versatile, and great for hot weather, even night time in my opinion. Can't say much because it is such a classic scent, you won't go wrong with this. Other people and you will love it. Plus, it is always on sale so you can get it fairly cheap.

This is a beautiful fragrance. It smells so good in the air, more than just smelling it upclose on a teststrip. Also, not sure what's going on but the bottle I purchased few days ago is doing 10+ hours on my skin and a 1 day+ on clothes. Maybe an anomaly but reformulated for the better? Either way it's a great scent.

An old mainstay in my collection but dropped several times over the years due to its price, performance is subpar at best but the dry down to the Grapefruity peppery scent is amazing. The middle and top notes shine but I smell none of the base notes listed here. I just wish I had better prices for this where I live.

There no point reviewing this as it's basically a bottle everyone should have/does have. It's cheap (relatively), perfect fresh clean aromatic uplifting smell that's not overly sweet. Yes it's not beast mode longevity, but just buy one of the mini 30ml bottles and take it with you for a top up as and when.

Very fresh pleasant smelling fragrance. One of the best freshies. Unfortunately it doesn't perform. At all. Will have to sniff on you to get that smell. Stays on clothes for long periods. Very weak on the skin. Maybe to get that scent the ingredients used aren't beastly. Scent : 9/10 Performance: 2/10

One of if not the best freshies ever, it's super fresh yet it has a lot going on. I find that on my skin it smells a bit like a urinal cake... otherwise I love it lmao. If you want a better performance get an edp doupe, they smell the same and aren't so bland in the beginning as the og.

I got a great compliment today. A woman who dislikes colognes in general to the point that they make her feel sick, said that I smell good, after a long hug. Thank you Versace Man Eau Fraiche. This used to sleep in the back of my cabinet, but now it is going to be my A-list.

Very beautiful scent that is utterly unique. I'd highly recommend you don't waste your money on this though. Won't last more than 2 hours on skin and clothes, yes I've tried many batches. I'm starting to suspect fragrance companies deliberately make their fragrances weaker.

Smell this from a loose little travel-size bottle lying around in a department store and immediately had to find it for the best price and buy it. Smells a lot like CK One Electric to me, which I absolutely love and I'm down to only 5ml and new bottles are too expensive.

Well, I have so many negative reviews about this perfume, but when I sniffed it for the very first time, I was just blown away by its freshness. It is an absolutely amazing scent. Certainly, it is one of my top 3 fresh perfumes. Rating: 9/10

This is one of my favorites in my collection. In fact i have a 200ml back up bottle of versace man eau fraiche! It lasts long and performs on my skin. One of my most-complimented perfumes! 10/10 and 10/10 for Man Eau Fraiche Extreme too!

Un perfume rico, y el que mas me alagaron en mi vida. Es muy fresco, y liviano. Cuando lo huelo, me traslada a una playa, con una camisa blanca de lino en el verano. Los citricos italianos son los mejores, y se nota en este perfume.

I love it but I do not understand why on Earth they have not released an EDP version of this. It would probably corner 1/3 of the whole market if they did. I can't find an EDP alternative from another brand but I am still searching.

It is a fantastic perfume no doubt about that. But, why it lives only 2-3 hours? This is way too less for a brand like versace. The scent is absolutely amazing, but the performance is absolute trash. But I love this scent.

I fell in love with this cologne at first smell. It is a very crowd-pleasing scent, but you have to overspray it to even smell it on yourself. Slightly unique and slightly sweet, pretty unisex, and everyone loves it. 9/10

if you live in a hot and humid climate, this a great fragrance for short duration outdoorsy events. nuclear projection but lasts very short amount of time. it's a great refreshing complement puller nevertheless

Classic fresh, lemoney, out of the shower type of smell. I enjoy this for hot weather and as an easy reach but I am always impressed by how good it smells. Only downside is it doesn't have good performance.

Classy,elegant, very easy to wear for any ages one of the perfume will never die as it satissatisfy most of the tastes. Not very expensive but smell expensive and sit comfortably amongst tops perfume.

it's basically a straight shot of refreshing, bright, citrus. clean and easy to wear. perfect for the beach, suitable for the gym. moderate projection and short longevity.
