Yellow Diamond

Reviewing the 2021 reformulation, I reviewed the original already. Well gosh darn it this is reformulated too, just looking at the back of the new box. Linilool and lilial are missing from this, like it is in the 2 bright crystals and the crystal noirs. Yellow diamond intense EDP was the only of the 6 of the crystals that did not contain the banned chemical that changed half of Versace’s formulas and most of everything from Dior. Yellow Diamond Intense is nowhere to be sold other then the grey market and there wasn’t even a need to reformulate it. *Scratches head* Anyway pertaining to this. Before this reminded me of sunshine in a bottle. This is probably one of my least favorite fragrances in my collection, but Omg... I love that shower gel. LOVE it. It’s like showering in liquid gold. The reformulated shower gel (had lilial) still smells nice, smells golden and less feminine which is good for me! And as for the EDT, just wow. Is it the Same scent for the most part yes, but I no longer feel like I’m running through a field of daisys and sunflowers. This scent made me feel something. It’s less “flowery” and has a plastic smell, like it just smells synthetic. The powderiness is still there. Horse power is still the same, not watered down. To many they will think this is weaker but it’s not. The formula isn’t weaker, but the fragrance won’t have a powerful opening like it did. Why? Lilial. It was a major ingredient and it had a “blooming” and “fresh” vibe like when you spray your favorite air freshener. Its in everything (or was) even in my laundry detergent sitting in the basement. For some reason we can still use it wash our clothes. Now as humans we are bias and think what’s different doesn’t smell good. To someone who never smelled the original... it smells nice but try it before buying a new bottle. Will this be a signature scent for you... hell nah. I used to defend it being so generic because it had a signature Versace DNA and it’s now lost. It smells good but some charm is gone. Nice scent still.

Need to review the old and new shower Gel. (With some new info.) I have both versions, one in the Vintage box for the original packaging, and the 2022 shower gel in the same generic yellow design used for the reformulated and repackaged toilette. Honestly there is little to no difference when it comes to the shower gels. I just finished off my last technically vintage EDT bottle, I have a new one but won’t be opening and trying out the new reformulation till spring. Like with the new bright crystal, I see they kept the Linilool which was removed from crystal noir when it wasn’t necessary. Sorry I’ll go on and mourn about C Noir till Die. Ok so yellow diamond is my least favourite fragrance in my entire collection. I have almost everything by Versace literally! For both “main” genders. And as a guy this has to be worn for the right occasion. When I wear it I think of sunshine in a bottle. (2020 batch.) I wear it only in the morning 4-10 am. And not often. The EDP smells like lush moonlight... glamours. You have to be a homosexual like me to pull it off 😂. Shower Gel Anyway final and main point. The shower gel is my favorite shower gel (I’m crazy and have shower gels to several Versace scents lined in my shower. 3 versions for Eros.. blue, flame, pour femme) despite not much love for the bottle itself. Can’t say the same about the lotion but my god this shower gel is amazing. It’s like bathing In liquid gold! You could buy this shower gel and not ever need the bottle. Hell when I open that new reformulated bottle sitting in my closet come spring, and it sucks, I’ll still always love this shower gel. Because I have the reformulated shower gel. Yes it’s missing lilial but somehow they kept the scent exactly the same. Something they failed to do with crystal noir’s lotion and shower gel. Ok I’m done.

Fluffy WHIPPED LEMON & MIMOSA. Opens with a fruity-floral burst with citrus, honey & clean touches that reads honeysuckle & lemon soap to my nose. These all deepen into a white floral heart that has powdery, honey, clean, fruity, & yellow-floral touches, all resting on a musky amber-woody base. Over time, it acquires a pleasant detergent vibe in the air. Above average performance for a spring-summer wearing experience. Contrast to Yellow Diamond (OG) Versace: These are different, but they're strikingly similar. YDI has a more forward white-floral accord, pungent-citrus quality and more honey-hay, while the OG is softer with a more fluffy citrus, and has a more forward shampoo quality. Both have above average performance, but YDI is slightly outperforms. Overall: Beautiful sweet citrus-floral scent, with above average performance. Perfect scent to wear on a walk in the park or on a hot day? It's a love for me. Enjoy! Contrast to Daisy Eau So Fresh: These are different, but there are similarities with the shampoo vibe from many of Alberto Morillas' scents. Daisy Eau So Fresh has more green and raspberry instead of lemon in the top notes. Roughly equivalent performance. Contrast to Omnia Coral Bvlgari: These are different, but again there are similarities with the shampoo vibe. Omnia Coral has more pomegranate iced-tea in the top instead of lemon. Roughly equivalent performance. Update 05/147/25: Wore this for a bit yesterday. It's gotten a lot stronger, but opens with a lemon shampoo vibe. The lemon gets more intense as it dries down in the floral-waterlily heart. The lily/waterlily has gotten a lot stronger, and was giving me reminders of scents like Baiser Vole Cartier with a lemon-y overlay. Love it.

This is absolutely divine! I hate citrus scents. I bought D&G Light Blue without smelling it because everyone loves it and to me it smells putrid. To me, citrus scents smell sharp, screechy, masculine, and horrid--but this lemon scent is an absolute summer love. Yes, it reminds me very much of Daisy, a perfume I enjoyed fine enough but never obsessed over. This perfume, however, is an obsession. There is a motherly warmth to Yellow Diamond that makes me feel nurtured and safe. Imagine you are a child and your young, sweet, loving mother washes your favourite towel in a lemon laundry soap. She hangs this towel on the line, where it soaks up all the goodness of the sun, and after you emerge from a freezing cold pool, she places this towel around your shoulders. That is what this perfume smells like. Summer and warmth and love and a fluffy, freshly laundered towel dried in the summer sun. Is it generic? Sure. But it's so beautiful I hardly think that matters. There is a softness and a non-cloying sweetness to this perfume that makes it a refreshing treat for teenagers, but there is also a joy and a mature warmth that makes it a sweet treat for mothers and grandmothers too. I could see three generations of women wearing this perfume and it would sparkle on each of them. I could also see someone using this as their daily honeymoon perfume if they traveled to a hot location. It's that romantic. An insant mood-boost. Sunshine and happiness and sparkling joy in a pretty bottle. Thank you, Versace!

Sunshine and optimism bottled, and I'll keep it short and sweet. Yellow Diamond is simple to wear and a great easy reach, but despite that, I don't find it boring. The opening is bright and fresh with a burst of crisp pear, lemon and bergamot before being followed with a gorgeous mix of waterlily, mimosa and freesia. The florals during the drydown take on a grassy freshness which evokes the feeling of going for a walk through a wildflower meadow near the coast; the waterlily gives a fresh aqueous undertone which gives that coastal/dewy feeling and keeps things more lively and interesting, after 3 hours the florals settle down to a fresh woody/ambery base. Its simplistic in the way it smells but its one of the most happiest, sunshine-like scents I have ever smelt and owned, it would work so well as a summer signature or even a signature year round, it just radiates positivity and an aura of cleanliness! Longevity is decent lasting about 6 hours and giving a close bordering on moderate silage, it could easily be worn to work or for more casual/everyday activities, at a push, I think you could dress this one up as well. Wouldn't say it smells too much like Marc Jacobs Daisy though I would say they do fall into the same carefree and positive catagories. Would repurchase for sure!

It is a very fresh, citrusy, uplifting scent, however, it may be way too citrusy for some. I got a sample, cause I would not usually buy this type of perfume (I lean more toward dark, heavier, melancholic scents). In my opinion, this is probably one of the best citrusy scents that I have smelled so far, but as I said, It's personally not something I would buy. However, I had no other option than to purchase the fragrance. It grew on me and I formed some strong memories wearing the sample. It made me really happy too. It isn't a winter scent for sure, and neither is it an autumn scent. It's mostly springy, summery fragrance, which just reminds you of spring grass, birds chirping in the early spring, and nature blooming. Can be worn during any season still. Makes you more unique, wearing this in winter months. It gave me a slight headache though, so if you are sensitive, beware. It is by no means a safe blind buy since it may smell like some cleaning product on some, mesmerizing on others. Hence the low rating I guess. If this perfume were a song, it would be Hymn for the Weekend by Coldplay.

I thought it might be a good idea to report here what Yellow Diamond smells like on someone else. My co- worker got this and wore it to work a few times. She was worried that it didn't last and thought it wasn't projecting. But it was projecting like a gorgeous beast! Each time she walked by she left a sparkly trail. If that trail could have been seen in a spectrum visible to humans it would have been golden! This lasted all day. It smelled magical, like sparkly fairy dust left by the Grassy Meadow of Wildflowers Fairy. I looked forward to being around her so I could catch a whiff- haha! I thought, with my novice nose, that I was smelling the notes of cedar, lemon, freesia, jasmine, apple, and maybe some musk. Turns out I got a few of those right! My nose was off about the pear though. Anyway, I made a note to self to get a sample of this because it was so beautiful in a crisp, sparkling, pleasant way. It's really nice to be around someone who is wearing this so I, too, want to leave a trail of invisible fairy dust in my wake. I will see if it's just as lovely up close.

Lemony, summertime version of the Versace Crystal sisters (Noir and Bright Crystal), all of which I adore. These aren't crazy complex or mood altering signature scents, but definitely inoffensive crowd pleasers that will make you smile. This one starts out like Starbucks lemon loaf. Clean, gentle lemon, then fades into a fruity musk, where the fresia, water lily and general white flower happiness reign. It's a smile-inducing perfume, certainly for the heat of the summer, and would likely feel out of place in cold winter months (unless you were intentionally wearing it for that "take me to another time/place please" vibe). I LOVE the mimosa in this- it keeps both the lemon and the flowers youthful and effervescent. A great gift or blind buy. I got a mini-bottle version in a Sephora's favorite perfumes kit, and bought the big version of black opium (an all-time fav) with the coupon instead, so it wasn't my favorite of 10 other "safe-bets," but second in line

Yellow diamond is just so beautiful and sparkly! I first smelled this on a coworker as she was coming into the classroom door and it really caught me. Doesn’t come off like a perfume or obnoxious at all. It smells modern sophisticated, but still light and sparkly just like what a magical fairy would wear almost like the trail with sparkles they would leave behind them like Tinker Bell. I’m really attracted to fragrances that make an impression on me when other people are wearing them first, because I like to know what kind of a trail or cloud I have around me when I wear it. So this one is a winner. Workplace-friendly, uplifting, sparkly, long lasting, and the Dewey florals underneath. Then the base. I feel like that musk is a signature! I wonder why this one doesn’t get a higher rating on fragrantica? This is just so well done. I think I’d always like to have a big bottle of this.💛 Tinkerbell perfume🧚🏼

Surprisingly, I picked this Versace perfume for Christmas 2024. The original doesn't do anything for me. Smells basic to me. Yellow Diamond stood out. I had no desire to wear this until summer hit. I've been layering this with vanilla body oil, some coconut too and its very nice. It tends to dry down kind of clean/ soapy. A tad sharp too. But I like it. It just works. Most that smell the bottle and don't like it, and give me this look like WHY? lol, especially since EVERYONE loves the pink original one the best. For some reason this one caught my attention. I sprayed it on my skin in the store and hours later I STILL WANTED IT! Its all about body chemistry baby!

ADORE!! It's very addictive and I find myself wanting to smell it all the time. Once I woken up and felt the urge to smell it haha. You smell the citrus, pear and mimosa. Also a bit like the flower of a yellow water lily. You'd believe it's groumand, but I'd say not at all! Not too sweet, definately more fresh and clean. One of my favorite perfumes, inoffensive and a crowd pleaser. My mom loves this scent on me and she is usually the one to complain about my perfumes - but not this one. The perfect occasion to wear this would be during a sunny day, when you're on holiday. Will of course bring Yellow Diamond with me next time I travel.

Fresh fruity floral. A classic for hot days. Lemon and pear, mimosa, waterlily, musk. Complex and shower gel like. Absolutely lovely. My Mother gifted me the biggest 200ml bottle which is beyond gorgeous and I am very happy about it. Very out of shower feel. Prettier than Bright Cristal I think. Less floral and fruitier. With much better drydown - sweet, sunny, floral with mimosa and freesia and a very appealing guaiac wood note. In comparison the woods in Bright Crystal are harsh. Lasts beautifully, too. 9 hours and the beautiful drydown still rocks and projects to my chin. Now I understand the ongoing popularity.

I’ve had this perfume in my collection for about 2 years now. I have a pretty large collection so I pushed Yellow Diamond to the back. The other night I just picked it up and put it on to go to bed. I woke up to this BEAUTIFUL scent! I’ve been wearing it every day since! I even ordered 2 more bottles since I’ve been spraying the hell out of this 3oz that I have now. This is my new bedtime scent, signature scent and everything in between scent. I absolutely love it. It went from being pushed to the back of my collection to me neglecting the rest of my collection for it. Definitely a favorite of mine.

Ahhhh my favorite summer perfume! I usually don't like citrusy notes but this one! This one is done right! Everything is blended so well, just a perfect floral citrusy scent, not cloying at all and you just smell fresh and elegant. I don't know why some people say that this smells cheap and basic, I don't think this smells cheap/basic at all! I can totally imagine a classy woman wearing this. The only downside that I find is the lasting power, it only lasts around 4-5 hours on me but I don't mind that at all. Overall I truly like this and it will stay in my collection forever!

I've liked Yellow Diamond for quite some time, I just never added it until recently. This is a happy fragrance, reminiscent of carefree spring and summer days. The lemon is standout, but it doesn't smell like a cleaning product; it's very smooth and the name suits it as it smells very yellow. After it mellows, I can smell a bit of the mimosa, but honestly, it's so well-blended, that I can't pick the other notes out. Longevity on my skin was into the next day, so very long-lasting. Sillage is moderate. Lovely spring and summer scent!

This smells like a good morning to me. A worry free, quiet morning spent drying your hair in the sun after taking a shower that leaves the whole bathroom warm and humid and smelling like your shampoo. It smells like putting your lounge chair in the sunniest part of your yard, and enjoying the peace of early summer with your eyes closed and your face tilted towards the sun. It's not a particularly unique or groundbreaking scent, but it certainly is lovely. If you love that 'fresh out of the shower' smell, then you'll love this.

This is my signature scent. I live in a very hot, humid climate. It lasts all day, it leaves a beautiful scent trail, and I get asked about it and complimented on it all the time. My sister, who always used to wear sweet gourmands, just straight up bought this one day, which I considered a personal attack. When I went on vacation abroad, there was this bar, and I went in wearing this and asked for a pornstar martini. There was a girl standing behind me and she said "you smell like a pornstar." Long story short: fulfillment.

This is the first perfume I really fell in love with. I definitely get the sunshine, happy vibe from it. One time I walked into a small business, and the cashier (probably in her early-mid 20's) exclaimed, "Omg, you smell so good! What is that??" After I told her the name, she said, "That's like the happiest perfume I've ever smelt!" This perfume gave me my love for Mimosa scent as well. I haven't picked a signature perfume yet, but I've loved this one since 2011 and it's really special to me, so it may be my sig. some day.

Yellow Diamond is my favorite of the ‘Crystals’ line. It’s sunny warmth and slight bitterness balanced with sweet lemon and pear is a pleasure to wear. This does resemble Daisy, but I prefer this, as I find the base to be less mature. Someone below said it’s a “bikini on a yacht” fragrance, and I agree! It’s a clean, slightly powdery citrus floral, with an aromatic touch, and a drydown of amber and musk. It’s an elevated shampoo, classy, and the least juvenile of the line. A definite repurchase.

I will never get over the disappointment of the low reviews for this fragrance! It's definitely my favourite hot weather fragrance I've owned. It's fresh, but it's managed to avoid smelling like a cleaning product, like many other fresh fragrances do. Instead, I find it to be quite sophisticated and such great value for money (it's also often on discount). Definitely give this one a go, especially if you like lemon in fragrances :)

Tested it - loved it. But lasts 2 hours max. Probably will just buy a miniature. The box and scent screams South East Asian somehow without actually taking inspiration from there, does it make sense? Because we love yellow and gold motifs, smells kinda tropical too. Just personal sentiments maybe. I'd say this is a safer blind buy than Bright Crystal since it's less sharp, the balance of Bright and Noir.

Sampled this yesterday morning. Read a review yesterday at lunch that said someone bought it at TJ Maxx. Visited TJMx yesterday after work and brought home their only bottle. Love this so much and loved it immediately! There’s something in it that reminds me of Lancôme Magnifique but they don’t share many notes. Just a lovely sweet yellow floral that makes me joyfully sniff my arm throughout the day.

It is same as Bright Crystal. Background scent but a bit different than Bright Crystal. Not as crispy but more citrusy. I use this one to keep freshness after showering. Most people say this smells like expensive shampoo but I didn't pick up that vibe. Yellow Diamond is easy for wearing during spring and summer days. Very intimate but bright and aquatic. All in all, I did not regret buying it.

This one really makes my day, it's so much fun to wear, Osmantus is one of my favs anyway. Longevity is perfect, just one little drop, and I'm good. So I can compliment Versace for so much creativity and good production. One of the best I ever owned. And even after years, the lotion still works. Of course, I used up the bottle but kept it, as a memory of past times. Thank you Donatella🎅

This is so beautiful, light, lemony, fresh, floral, citrusy -- checks a lot of boxes for a great spring/summer fragrance that I think is an easy like for most. I love the way this dries down on me too -- a lemony skin scent. HOWEVER. It lasts for absolute shit. It is fully depressing how quickly it fades. Got the big bottle on sale so I guess have sprays to spare.

Straight up sunshine in a bottle for me. I only wear it spring thru summer. A good warm weather everyday work perfume. I’ve received plenty compliments from people who say it smells “happy”. I’ve been thru 2 3.4oz bottles and decided to get the “big boy” 6.7oz 3rd and final bottle to take me on out lol. A good staple in my collection 💛💛

Surprisingly fruity and juicy at first, then it dries down plesantly like a powdery clean skin. I don't usually like floral scents especially when they dry down I find they only smell like a flower. This one keeps its complexity. I prefer this one to Bright Crystal and Bright Crystal Absolu, the latter smelling only of peonies to me.

when you first spray it it smells like pure lemon juice but after letting it dry it smells soapy and more like an actual perfume rather than lemon juice it hss a summer feeling, like when its a hot summer day and you make yourself a lemonade and then sit down and calmly drink it while the sun is shining on you

Wow this scent is amazing. I was at my work and an older lady walked in and I instantly fell in love with her scent. I finally worked up enough courage to ask her what she was wearing because it was sooo good, she told me this and as soon as I got home, I had to but it. I love the lemon scent and the flowers.

This is one of my favorite perfumes! I had people stop me several times to ask me what I was wearing. It's a loud perfume but I wouldn't say it's the kind of scent that would give you head aches. It's fresh, citrusy and can be worn both in day and night, lasts a good amount of time on me!

Sometimes I go nose blind to it, but it's a very nice dry lemon/citrus. It does not smell like cleaning spray the way some lemon scents do. The pear, wood and amber really balance it out. I feel like I can spray the devil out of this one and be in a nice scent cloud for a while.

Woah, I am obsessed with this. It's February and snowing here, but this is like pure sunshine in a bottle. My husband loves it, too. Total blind-buy success. I feel like this is best suited for summer, but it's making me really happy right now, so I am going to wear it anyway.

Versace yellow diamond IS THAT GIRL! One of my all time favorites for spring and summer. I just feel so girly and pretty when I wear this. No, it doesn’t have the best longevity but I don’t care. I just re spray every 3-4 hours if needed. This is lovely wearing to bed also.

Whenever I wore this perfume, people around me would often comment that it left a trail. They would ask me what I was wearing and some even bought it for themselves. It used to be my signature scent, and I used to layer it with body mists that had similar notes.

This is my favorite Versace fragrance! It’s a beautiful, bright citrus floral scent that’s perfect for warm weather. Every time I wear this I feel cheerful and uplifted. It doesn’t turn sour on my skin like Bright Crystal and has a much better dry down.

My mother got this as a gift from a relative and wore it for a dinner at a resort. Her fragrance tastes are usually very different from mine but in that instance I absolutely loved the smell of it! I felt it was bright and fresh.

I bought this for my mom today. I love it, she loves it, my dad loves it, and my brother loves it. If there are any women reading the reviews just know this is a good sexy fragrance and male approved.

This perfume is so refreshing. i picked it up at Tj Maxx a few days ago and i am in love, i will definitely be purchasing the full size bottle. highly recommend for summer days :)

This is a perky, pretty fragrance with good staying power. Love the mimosa, an unusual floral but still easy to like. A good choice for a morning perfume to start the day happy.

I loved this fragrance from day one. I can never hate it. Fresh and crisp. Puts me in uplifting mood when I catch a scent of it. It will always be in my collection.

Beautiful, bright citrus/floral, modern, elegant, much much better than D&G light blue, and not cloying like I find a lot of fragrances are.

If Marc Jacobs Daisy and D&G Light Blue had a baby, this would be it. Pretty enjoyable fragrance, my favorite from the “crystals” line.

Bright, clean, fresh. When I want to smell like I just stepped out of the shower, I grab her.

Delicious, edible lemon. Not too sweet. Dries down beautifully into musk. Very moreish.

Serotonin in a bottle, instantly puts me in a happy mood. Perfect for sunny summer days

Such a nice clean lemony scent!

This one grew on me, mostly a white musk with a spring/summery feel. The opening actually does invoke a sense of bright yellow, a little fruity, a pinch of citrus...nothing that really stands out as a single note, just a blended brightness. Sillage is moderate with the top notes, but the opening fades very quickly., and within 15-20 minutes the brightness settles into a powdery floral softness that sits very close to the skin. Overall the scent is nice and crowd friendly. It feels very familiar but not memorable like, "I've smelled this somewhere, but can't put my finger on it". It's not a perfume you immediately recognize. It's a non-descript, but nice, perfume that becomes reminiscent of very high end shampoo on the drydown. Sillage sits close after the opening, and longevity is 3-4 hours before it becomes a true skin scent, so it feels a little overpriced. For the Versace price tag, I want to recognize it, know it's there, and have it last past dessert on a dinner date. Of course it lasts longer on clothes, and throws a bit further with extra sprays, but too much makes the florals get head-achy for me. I found a tiny little mini at Jomashop that's probably 5 wears or so; I'll happily use it up this summer because I do like the scent used sparingly, and would consider a full bottle purchase if I can catch it on sale.
