Bonne Poire

Beautiful pickled pear in calvados. Uniquely lovable. If not for the mixed reviews, I'd say a safe blind buy. I enjoyed it in the summer as well, but autumn makes Bonne Poire truly shine. Overripe, fermented, juicy pear, warm vanilla, luminous amber and calvados freshness. Very nearly mossy. Definitely green. Tastefully sweet (coming from someone who usually can't stand sweetness in a scent). Instant mood-lifter. Good vibes only. I adore it.

Usually I can understand why a fragrance has a poor rating on here but for this one I really don’t. I guess the calvados note in here is off-putting for some people(?), but for me it’s not! I really enjoy the fragrance itself; my main complaint is that the projection is pretty low. I would rate it like this: Scent: 7.5/10 Projection: 3/10

Basil, which meets cardamom and bergamot: it is quite sharp, spicy and green opening. It is confusing that pear almost immediately apears and scent becomes overly juicy. Sweetness of it is confronted with roasted coffee and vanilla. Combination isn't bad, however cedarwood note smells to me unharmonious and disturbing. Perfume ends with ambery and warm base. After so many transformations, I almost expected another surprise, but no: brandy note is sleepy and mild. Personally, I am not fan, but it is remarkable fragrance - for those, who likes extraordinary and aren't afraid to try something new. --- Longevity 3-4 hrs, projection quite intimate. I'd wear it during summer and autumn.

I'll put my cards on the table and say that I have been a BIG Versatile fan right from the start. I happily order directly from France, I have 7 of the 9 extracts and wear them religiously - it is an EXCELLENT house!! Having said all that, this is the one of their Fruits that I do not love. It may just be skin chemistry, it is a realistic pear scent, but on me it just dries down with a bit of a dirty back note - I cannot put my finger on what it is from the profile. Not a safe blind buy, but if you grab it as part of the Fruits discovery set, I can pretty guarantee that if this one doesn't work for you, at least one of the other two will. :)
