Croissant Café

Honestly, I don’t know how this happened, but this really grew on me. I liked it from the beginning, but it took me a while to start fully loving it, but now I wear it almost every day! On me, I experience a very woody drydown that doesn’t lose the coffee bitterness/general aroma in the air, but the coffee scent definitely fades with time. Both me and my family also smell sandalwood in this very strongly, not in a way that takes over but in a way where I’m surprised it’s not in the notes. It’s also pretty much a skin scent, which makes it nice for wearing to classes where everyone is packed in close in the lecture hall :) I definitely still smell it on myself and I think others do too, but it isn’t overwhelming and I don’t have to worry about giving other people a headache. The drydown also reminds me of the opening of Guele du Bois quite a bit because of the woodiness. I think that the sandalwood drydown that I experience makes it almost a nice sandalwood-heavy musk for me after some hours of wear. I also have to say that at least to me it smells very accurate. I live near a cafe and the opening of this smells almost exactly like the scent that wafts up to our windows in the mornings!

Oh my. I've been SO excited to try this for so long, but backed and forthed a little because I was a bit put off by having to ship to the UK. So glad I bit the bullet and blind-bought a full bottle. First sniff I get pastry all the way. A beautiful, buttery, almost nutty, freshly-baked croissant. This doesn't last too long because the tonka and coffee notes start coming in and taking over. There's still a pastry undertone to the scent, but a milky vanilla coffee comes through - not a super sweet vanilla coffee, but definitely gourmand. There's a warm toasty note beneath the coffee. It's like you're sat at a cafe eating a croissant and your coffee has just arrived to the table! This settles into the most beautiful woody gourmand smell. Sits close to the skin and is absolutely unisex. There's no saccharine sweetness to be found, just a beautiful buttery toasted vanilla. Cannot sing this perfume's praises enough. I wish it had more of a sillage, but I can't fault the smell! PS - I bought the sample set and every one of the smells is beautiful. I don't think this will be my last scent from Versatile!

I'd wanted this one for a long time, but the mixed reviews made me hesitate; that, plus, I find the limited projection oils usually offer to be a bit frustrating. BUT, I finally ordered it, and I'm so glad I did! This is a super sweet, very much vanilla latte experience - definitely giving more sugar and vanilla flavoring than straight up coffee, and I'm totally fine with that ;-) What really delights me, though, is - this actually projects quite decently!! I do not need to bury my nose in my arm to detect it - hallelujah! Croissant Cafe is a super fun reach, and blends wonderfully with KYSE Delizia di Marshmallow (to REALLY up the gourmand), or Vanille Cafe from Comptoir Sud Pacifique (vanilla latte on steroids!). I appreciate the more realistic coffee scents, like Akro's Awake or Montale's Ristretto Intense Cafe, but for me, personally, I prefer my coffee scents with a hefty amount of sweetness. This is a gem!

This was a blind buy. BUT LOVE. -> Once I bought this, I was craving croissants for days. Someone here wrote that it smells like that smell the paper bag has when the fat of the croissant or pastry is left on the paper, that greasy stain. This is true, but mostly when you sweat, that was a little weird. I instantly smelt the mix of coffee and a buttery, warm sort of bakery smell. I feel the tonka and coumarin, which also smells like vanilla, but not exactly vanilla. Which is nice! I am an avid gourmand, vanilla, sweet perfume girl, and having one that smells a little different was good. It doesn't stay very very very long, a good 3 hours at least. But it comes out slowly so one doesnt go throgh it fast and its more of a intimate smell, you hug someone theyll smell it. Even if its a hello hug to a random acquaintance. I recommend, for sure. Reapplying it is easy because it is a small bottle. Try it :)

Croissant Café was initially my favourite from Versåtile; it’s sweet and deliciously inviting, and doesn’t venture into that territory of weird and wonderful that they like to do so much. The only downside is, it’s as weak as a fart in a tornado. The scent is lead by this beautifully soft, milky, frothy coffee - hot frothed-up milk, coffee beans roasting in the distance, with perhaps a dessert wafting through the hot air of this cafe you’re sat in. I’m not a big fan of coffee fragrances so i really appreciate the subtlety of it here. Creamy tonka and vanilla help to round it all of amazingly. I love the scent profile - I find it incredible warming and comforting, almost my ideal rendition of a cafe atmosphere in perfume form. My only gripe is the performance, I’m talking pretty much zero projection and a longevity of 90 mins if you’re lucky.
