Dana

Dana by Verset has impressed me where dupes usually fail. Dana is so close to Gabrielle as to make me wonder if my nose is deceiving me. Similar longevity too (slightly longer lasting), which makes it even more convincing as most of us know this beautiful scent is fresh and effervescent but also fleeting, leading me to believe they’ve been frugal with their modern aromas, which in turn gives me confidence to try more of their offerings. This is my first time trying anything from the Verset range as I usually steer clear of dupes and copycat perfumes but I’m very glad I gave this one a try! 🩵 *I like that you can get them in 15ml travel size too!

I don’t remember anymore exactly how was Gabrielle, I intend to test it again as soon as possible. I think that I found it bittersweet, bland and very chic in the same time. Like a little pricey well fitting dress, a bit forgettable because it’s so perfectly designed, you’ll see the woman inside, and not her dress, you know what I mean? Very « Parisian », lol. Dana smells to me like a nice crossing between the well mannered aquatic flowers of Dior J’adore and the sharp rosy airiness of Coco Mademoiselle. Both here better, deeper and more rounded. Avoid to glue your nose on it. It’s more an aura, a spectrum. Smell it like someone else would catch it floating in the air, from afar. Delicious! It’s a very very nice pick. Edit: I tested Gabrielle, yes, it’s like described and very close to Dana.

I’ve never smelled Gabrielle, full disclosure, but I know that I won’t be buying it. This is not my kind of scent profile - Ylang Ylang can be hit or miss for me, and this is a miss. That said, it’s an effervescent, bright and citrusy fragrance which is pretty classy and this Verset performs well considering the notes. If it’s a good dupe for Gabrielle, I’d say go for it.

Dana by Verset is a superb dupe of Chanel Gabrielle - mimicking its sparkling opening, together with the warmth and depth of its development. Price is cheap as chips but smells incredibly classy. I've recently been made redundant and this is my go-to for interviews right now.

This is supposed to be a dupe for Gabrielle the original NOT the Essence version, it misses that sweetness and depth for me and in general I feel like it falls flat and annoying on the skin. Not very impressed here.

I can’t stand this. Good longevity but in the drydown there is a stuffy and suffocating patchouli note I can’t stand
