Bois et Cuir

In spite some m@r@ns trying to be snobby, making fun of this beautiful scent, this is a beautiful ,fruity, citrusy, slightly leathery, masculine-leaning perfume. It starts with a fruity citrusy opening very similar to Aventus(for what I see, they share about 7 notes as listed in the fragrantica page, but we all know they are way way more notes than that), but not as rubust, with more apple and citrus nuances and after 30 minutes approximately start to drift apart from the Aventus DNA and I start to pick up some smooth leather and some oud, with some musk and a very masculine vanilla that reminds me another Aventus-like perfume called Electimuss Imperium(EI), but the vanilla is not as pronounced es in EI. Projection and longevity is on the moderate to weak side ,but for $87 for 100ml at Jomashop, this was totally worth it. Presentation(from the box to the bottle)is gorgeous, overall a great deal. On a side note the evolution described above is on my skin, on paper is a complete different fragrance, extremely pleasant, but very bright and fruity for hours, so try it on your skin first. Edit: after about 4 hours the scent disappeared almost completely from my clothes , skin and test strip. The very last note I was able to detect was oud. I’m goin to put it to macérate for a few months to se if longevity improves.

Bois Et Cuir’s opening shares similarities with I.Mirage23, but it's mostly short-lived, and then the scent gravitates towards something else. It becomes green, a little herbal, and creamy. It’s mostly a combination of ivy, apple, bergamot, lavender, moss, and amber. The dry down is creamy woods, with a really soft thin layer of leather with just a touch of vanilla. The reviewer below mentioned a resemblance to Oud Wood, and I have to agree. There’s a hint of that in Bois Et Cuir’s dry down. In fact, this could very well be a cross of the two scents, but with a bit of nuanced greenness. The composition strikes me as very tranquil, chic, and Mediterranean and is overall a delightful offering from the house of Vertus.

i bought the sample set and this is veryyyyy veryy good guys. i mean damn at first spray it gives you some just a little aventus vibes but it's different this is like you smell that apple aromatic fruity freshness some of that ivy green touches i loved it. and then you get like an aftertaste of like tom ford oud wood smell in the back! so nice! this will definitly be in my collection soon! not sure on the performance yet but i think it's pretty good for a freshie starting to love this house more and more.

Second review. I stand by all the things i said the first review but now i owned this and several others from the house for some years. And i must say this is my favorite from vertus it even ranks high in my whole collection. Wich is not an easy thing to achieve. Love it!

Smilar to cedrat boise.Goood longevity and sillage

Before I begin to describe my experience with this scent I'm going to say it definitely made my seasonal signature scent list upon first wear. To my nose I get blonde woods and soft supple leather like the inside of a luxury vehicle. Its fresh and bright in the opening with that crisp green apple and has a refreshing quality throughout for a leather/wood fragrance. Also I get big wafts of vanilla and sage. I personally don't see the Aventus/Cedrat comparisons. This juice stands alone imo. Versatile scent but elegant nonetheless such a great bargain. Edit: 2/18/26 the longevity has improved significantly.

Fizzy grapefruit, apple and mild greenery from the opening and on. Effervescent and refreshing. Takes a nose dove as it dries down, but nothing too off-putting. Still totally pleasant and wearable, just loses some of its zest. The undertone turns a little bit leathery as a prominent cedar note that develops which throws off the harmonics. The rest of the nuance is barely detectable, besides a touch of red florals and sage. Mild makeup 💄 vibe as it dries down.

Opened grapefruit and mandarin. Later a few minuts, animalic background be in earnst. I think good as per other citrus parfums. Longevity nicely again as per other alternatives. For summer or autumn can buy.. Scent: 7,5/10 Longevity: 8/10 Sillage: 8/10

This has nothing to do with Aventus. Nor does it smell like Tygar or any of it's inspired by (Liminsette, Sceptre Bronzite, Vibrato). It has a fresh lemony opening. There is nothing exceptional here. The citrus isn't memorable or lifelike. It has a noticeable lavender as well. The other notes are well blended. Lavender/lemon are in most cleaning products. So this could come off, a little, like a cleaning product due to that combo and lack of uniqueness. Still, it's pleasant. Reminds me of Versace pour Homme. The Versace projects and lasts and is 1/3 the price. This is a 6.5/10. It's overpriced. I wouldn't buy it. But if I had it, I'd wear it the odd hot day.

Bois et Cuir opens with a pleasant fruity top. I've never tried Aventus but do have Explorer and agree the fruity opening has some similarities. It's not identical and not as good as Explorer. It dries down rather quickly to a creamy woody scent with the fruit in the background and a very subtle leather or maybe suede type of scent. When I say "very subtle", I mean almost undetectable. Not animalic at all. Longevity is average with very weak sillage and projection. Really nothing special for me.

bois=wood??? cuir=leather????? vertus bois et cuir=joke if this had a discernible scent maybe it could be categorized other than light nothing--kinda similar to an empty bottle that once held apple juice with a whiff of what was in it. the magnetic cap fits snugly--see, i can write something nice. oh, i forgot, a grapefruit peel walked by a couple of hours ago.

this is a guilty pleasure scent for me—on myself though. if i were to smell this on a man, i’d think oh here we go, another aventus bro. it’s nothing new—it’s a juicy, citrusy, bitter citrusy, traditionally blue masculine scent. it does have some sweet aspects on a woody base, but i must add that it smells very ambroxan-heavy, which gives it incredibly good sillage, though it’s something to consider if you’re sensitive to synthetics. originally, i didn’t know why they would name it bois à cuir and not something citrus-related, but as it dries down, the niche implications kick in—there’s a smoky, cold, and clean leather that reminds me of memo’s signature leather accord. easy to like, not super animalic. overall, a nice entry-level masculine-leaning fragrance. it’s been done before, but it’s decent. i also agree that it resembles tygar—you can smell grapefruit more dominantly than other citruses.

Sits right between Aventus, Cedrat Boise and city of jasmine but when I say Cedrat Boise that’s pushing it a bit but there is the slight similarity and I mean tone down the opening but like x1000 and smooth the whole lot out and throw in much more vanilla. This has a nice green apple fruitiness accompanying the vanilla and smooth subtle leather. I’d call this a fresh, airy vanilla Aventus. Top quality from Vertus and an amazing alternative to Aventus if you like that DNA. I can see how the person below gets Versace pour homme as well especially in the dry down. This one is so good! Highly underrated.

I have a sample of this and man, is it nice. I would LOVE to smell this on a man. It’s sexy, but in an approachable yet still complex kind of way. It’s definitely a masculine leaning fragrance. I get citrus wood with some leather and both fruity and green nuances that seem to dance around the main notes. I can’t speak on longevity just yet, but Mmmmm this one’s good.

Judging from the pyramidical composition, this is some unique oriental fougere I'd love to try! Possibly, won't mind making this my second Vertus bottle in 1 month (the first being Amber Elixir)! fantastic perfume. it says unisex but it actually is a male fragrance. very fresh & delicious and at the same time classy and chic. you can wear it all year but winter.
