Monarch

My bottle of Vertus Monarch arrived yesterday. I learned of it by checking the similar to section of Clive Christian X.( My Current favorite scent out of over 300 bottles). Overall this does bear some strong similarities with CCX opening and mid but not the divine dry down of CCX, and it is very nice as an everyday alternative to CCX. The past 8 or 10 years I went on a scent quest looking for my grail scent, I did not know exactly what I wanted, but I knew I would know it when I wore it. This has been a fun albeit expensive journey, I searched literally all across the globe in my travels. The spoiler alert is that Clive Christian X, is the winner. I love it, nothing I would change about it. For any one on your own quest, is to wear a fragrance out in the world, fragrances show their true nature in many temperatures, and environmental conditions. CCX, walking around a City, in a client meeting, one a train, or out to dinner is a stunning wonderful confidence boosting elixir for sure. However it is pricey and perhaps, due to its complex nature, for some might not be as versatile as some other scents. So I blind bought Monarch, to have an alternative, and still groove in the same olfactory vibe. Monarch does that with ease, but stands as its own creation for sure. To add to this, I find Jacomo de Jacomo (vintage) a pretty similar vibe to CCX as well I really love that one too, in fact I layer the vintage with the new. And when I wear Clive Christian X, I layer with ac couple of sprays of Escentric Molecule 01, another Geza Schoen creation, that blends perfectly with CCX. Edit...Ok wearing Monarch for a few days now, it is also very reminiscent of TSAR by Van Keel and Arpels...I would say a very modern, high quality take of TSAR, so it TSAR and Clive Christine X for men had a baby=something like Monarch. I am liking this more and more with each wear.

Bought this blind on discount and it ended up smelling quite different from what I expected because all the reviews are comparisons to things I haven’t smelled and the note list is a bit incomplete. Clove and wood are the main players here overall. Yes there is some bright notes at the top that could potentially be attributed to a lemon but citric fresh this is not. This is a more traditional blended style of fragrance, a bit old school but modernized enough not to come across like you borrowed it from your grandfather. There is a very well gauged resinous sweet quality that runs throughout the wear that combines with the coves other spices to create a dark cola like smell. The cypress gives a bit of dark green freshness and lift. As it dries the spices subside and the wood comes through much more, slightly powdery and oud like to my nose. I also get a very nice long lasting leather scent that I really enjoy, which is slightly smoky and sweet and a touch animalic. If this smell had a colour it would be dark brown. Monarch is a serious fragrance, but not aggressive. It gives mature boss energy but is versatile in terms of season and occasion skewing autumnal and formal in my opinion. For me this lasts all day on skin, performance is very good. While not what I was expecting or even what I typically like, I really enjoy wearing this and would recommend it as a well constructed and versatile fragrance.

Yup... this is the bomb. This has made my top three ultimate favorite colognes out of my collection. It does smell 90% similar to Clive Christian X however, if you smell both and compare them side by side, Monarch has a spicier opening. The dry down of monarch is superior in my opinion to CCX and is more masculine. In fact, it delivers something quite different from CCX. The dry down after 8 hours, you're still left with this heavenly medicinal cardamom/juniper/cinnamon, light resin that is under an umbrella of this BR 540ish sweetness that makes it absolutely perfect. In fact, it's almost as if this cologne looks down on BR 540 as a father and tells it's BR 540 child "You'll get there some day son" lol. And yes, this stuff is nuclear. One spray is all you need. If you want your neighborhood block to smell you then do 3 sprays. Beware women will follow you and some will even stop to ask you with a shocked look on their face, "Exscuse me, what cologne are you wearing?, It's smells amazing!" which is what happened to me. Also, I can't really picture a younger person wearing this even though they totally can rock it. But this is to CEO, I own five Bugatti's territory lol..imo. Can a female wear this? Of course, and I would follow her and ask her what she was wearing, (which I never do). Lol. I'm definitely buying five bottles of this and snorting it in my bunker when WW3 breaks out...

This is a new one to my collection and I rather enjoy it. The lemon, clove, cypress, resins and woody notes are all prominent to various degrees. There is very little sweetness in here, so it tends to lean more mature to my nose. I agree with the reviewer below that this has a sort of "mall sensibility" about it - it's definitely in the mainstream side of niche, much to my relief. It's completely wearable in all situations for the right person. I haven't sampled Clive Christian X or Roja Reckless, so I can't compare to those two. I can only review the fragrance for what it is: a sophisticated and versatile scent for the modern man that wants to smell different than the ordinary guy. My only gripe would be performance. I don't get the strong projection others have reported, nor the longevity. I wouldn't call it a poor performer, but so far I'm not impressed. This is a new bottle, so it's possible some maturation will open up the performance over time. Regardless, I'm satisfied with the purchase. EDIT: It's early April 2023 and this bottle has spent several months cooking. The performance is significantly better now, with persistently moderate performance. This means it's not a room filler, but it fills up a personal bubble for the first 2 to 3 hours, and doesn't fade into a skin scent until several hours later. Excellent purchase around the $100 mark.

Parfümlere isim bulmak zor iş. Hem pazarlamaya yararlı olacak hem parfümü anlatacak, akılda kalacak, kolay okunacak vb. Parfümle kurduğunuz ilişkide isim gerçekten önemli. Vurgusu, dile söylerken verdiği doygunluk ve güç, hepsi önemli. Bu parfümün ismi bence tam kendisini anlatıyor. Zenginlik kokuyor bu parfüm. Biraz eski havası ile tam olarak Monarch oluyor. Parfum harika. Biraz CC andırsa da olsun. Genel yapısını pek değiştirmeden ilerliyor. Güçlü bir parfüm, etrafa sürekli kendini hissettiriyor. Daha çok erkeklere yakisacaktir. Bu parfüme yabiki şık bir kıyafet lazim. Markanın birçok parfümünü kokladım ama benim en çok dikkatimi bu çekti. Buraya Fransız markasi olarak yazılmış ama bu bir Türk Markası. Keşke öyle olduğunu söyleselermiş. "Made in France" yazınca ne oluyor anlamış değilim. Üzerinde 'Made in Türkiye" yazıyor olsa daha iyi olurdu. Belki pazarlamaya destek oluyordur ama bu kompleks li düşünceleri bir tarafa bırakmak lazım. Nişhane bundan daha zayıf bir markamı oluyor? Benim gözümde tabiki Vertus tan daha kıymetli bir marka...:-)

I enjoy this. A very "pour homme" style fragrance. Classic, masculine and a bit more mature. Pretty universal and all season versatile in my opinion. The scent is very clean, with a slight lemon brightness, green aromatics, soft dry woods and a dusting of spice. There is a bit of a smoky/incense tone that I get that hangs around a bit that you often find in more classic masculine fragrances. I dont find it off putting, and it does fade out a little bit into the dry down and the citrus starts to come out just a little bit more along with the clove and resins... it gives almost a lemon-coke type of vibe at that stage. To me, this is something you could wear on a spring day or evening. Even a winter day I think would work well. Summer would be fine, though I may not go as heavy. This is a monster performer on my skin 2 sprays in the office, 3 sprays outside and it's with me for 10 hours easy. Immense sillage so be forewarned. I would say buy at a discount if you can. Very nice fragrance, but not quite worth msrp.

Monarch is absolute must buy if you like Roja Reckless. It's an easier wear (more appealing to non-fragheads) and has great performance on me. I don't necessarily like it more than Roja or Clive X, but I wear it more often because it was about $150/100 ml when I bought it. My girlfriend couldn't really tell this and Reckless Parfum apart without doing a side by side and she actually preferred the Vertus. I still probably prefer Roja, as I find it fuller and with a brighter top. The Monarch performs really well and has a touch of "mall" or commercial appeal to it. Kind of like the way Dior Homme Eau is the more mall-friendly version of Dior Homme But truthfully, if you took away my Roja, I would be satisfied in having just Monarch.

CC X ile benziyorlar. İki parfüm de bende mevcut. Fiyat olarak bakarsak net bunu tercih ederim. İkisi de tam anlamıyla maskülen parfümler. Bu sanki bir tık daha spicey diyebilirim. Şort tshirtle kullanılacak bir parfüm olduğunu düşünmüyorum. Kalıcılığu gayet başarılı. Serin akşamlarda tercih edilmesi daha uygun olacaktır. They are similar to CC X. I have both perfumes. Considering the price, I would definitely choose this one. Both are truly masculine fragrances. I would say this one is slightly spicier. I don’t think it’s a perfume to be worn with shorts and a t-shirt. The longevity is quite impressive. It would be more suitable for cool evenings.

Similar to CC X and Reckless. It's a little bit fresher than CC X which makes it more vesratile. I actually prefer Monarch than CC X because CC after one hour becomes the same as Ormonde Man which I had and gave it away (same perfumer). Longevity wise, easy an office day, projection starts strong, after one hour becomes moderate but not a skin scent.At clothes sticks for days. Not a perfume for under 30 years old, in my opinion. For me though, as a 45 years old, I love it, it matches my taste of modern perfumes with some vintage elements. Classy, versatile, dry, gentlemanly!

The initial opening is quite bold, featuring a blend of allspice that goes beyond just cloves. At first glance, it feels like an airier interpretation of Clive Christian's X, but as it develops, it becomes greener and smokier as the cypress starts to reveal itself. Cypress and labdanum eventually dominate the scent, along with moss, and smoky woods. It evokes memories of Italian Cypress at this point which I enjoy a whole lot. As it dries down, it diverges significantly from X, making it a must-try for enthusiasts that enjoy both of these scent profiles. Virile to the core.

To put this simply, this is the absolute best alternative to either Clive Christian X masculine or Roja Dove Reckless. The only element that this fragrance is missing from those two is that explosive cinnamon/cardamom in the opening, which dies down rather quickly in both of them anyway. This fragrance smells as close to the dry down of those two as you will get, and honestly it outperforms both of them. Not to mention it can be found for less than half the price. If you like either of those fragrances but wish they weren't so expensive, get this. It's a no brainer.

How on Earth this scent is unpopular is completely beyond my perception. IMO it's by far one of the most amazing woody spicy scents of all time. Vertus has done it again with its brilliant productions. But Monarch is on another level of its own. It bears some resemblance to Creed's Royal Oud (Monarch and Royal: perhaps you get the vibes) particularly during the spicy journey before the drydown. So confident...So elegant. Very obviously my new signature scent. Flawless...

Perfect parfum for everyday use. Elegant, masculine and with great performance. Works round the year. Monarch opens with a mild citrusy and peppery scent which is quickly overtaken by the cypress and cloves. Eventually there's the appearance of a mild woody note, but the cypress and cloves are dominant. Monarch is literally one of the strongest summer freshies on the market. It's a deep, strong, aromatic, spicey, citrus that lasts and lasts. Definitely strong enough to wear anytime of the year. This is unlike anything I've ever smelled before and out of 100's of fragrances I've smelled the only one I personally would consider as a "signature" scent. Definitely worth trying out.

Monarch Vertus is not a clone of X For Men Clive Christian. I’m wearing both on my arms right now. It does have some similarity to X for Men but with more woods and cypress. It’s also a bit fresher and yet, projects more too. Overall, an elegant, masculine, and mature scent.

This smells distinguished as hell. Like the boss's boss of your boss kinda scent. Wear with caution, I've been told by people passing by that they "love whatever fragrance you're wearing". Classy and sophisticated in a bottle. 9/10

If you love Clive Christian X man you will love this one. Smell very close to X, great quality, and better performance. This is one of the best fragrances for summer and can work for all seasons. Also a perfect signature scent.

Initial impressions: This is a scent for a serious grown-ass man. Off the top smells like woods, cocktails, and cigarettes. Not for bros or boys. Bonus: Magnetic cap!

took this out of the collection today after 8 months maceration. and WOW what an amazing professional scent. I am putting this in my top 10 now!

Hello friends. I saw a different bottled version of this perfume at a discounter. Both the bottle is different and the perfume is darker.

Much to my surprise, this smells like Rasasi Shuhrah, but using higher quality ingredients. I like it a lot.

I've never tried X, so can't compare Monarch to it. Monarch opens with a mild citrus-y and peppery scent which is quickly overtaken by the cypress and cloves. Eventually there's the appearance of a mild woody note, but the cypress and cloves are dominant. As the hours go by, the cypress diminishes but the cloves remain more present. Monarch immediately reminded me of Alexandria Fragrances Italian Forest (which is a dupe of Tom Ford's Italian Cypress, which I've never tried) while adding the cloves and reducing the strength of the citrus. Longevity is quite good - got about 9 hours out of it - while the projection was more moderate. Monarch is a subdued fragrance. You aren't going to fumigate a room. It's more of a classy gentleman's fragrance. While I liked it overall, it's a bit too reserved for me OR I'm not classy enough. lol

Initial Impressions from using an entire sample: I pick up on pepper, the sharp bite of juniper, cloves and some green/woody notes the most. My nose can't isolate the other notes. I haven't tried any Clive Christian fragrance so I can't speak to that...so instead I'll say this reminds me of Creed's Spice and Wood. It's not a clone, of course...just in the same ballpark. Nothing mind blowing or hugely unique...so given the price you may not be so enthusiastic to run out and get a full bottle. All year-round scent...in terms of performance, this is not meant to be a screamer but instead something that those in your personal bubble will pick up on.

Very close to CCX masculine. But as others stated, it is fresher and not as complex. But make no mistake, niche quality is there, blend and ingredients are top notch. It is completely masculine and mature type of perfume with strong aromatic and green notes in my opinion. I think longevity and sillage are on par with CCX (arms length projection, 8 hours of longevity). My score: 8/10

Decant in an 8 pack Vertus Discovery set. I like it but not as much as others this perfumer is doing. Big and weird at the open, kinda boring in the heart. It smells best on the dry down, but it's merely a skin scent at that point. Not bad, but not buying a full size commitment.

Fresh juniper, spices and zesty lemon. Mossy. Puts me to sleep, although I’m not sure why. Mild balsamic musk. Very relaxing. You’re gonna smell like an excellent 🪴 plant.

It's ok. If you were a man and went to the store and sprayed this on - you wouldn't be mad. You wouldn't want to to buy it. It's not really memorable. The cypress note is good. But the combo with the Jasmine and lemon make it smell like an off brand reminder of something familiar. It lacks clear intent. Average logevity with low projection. Overall it's Not worth the price. Personally I wouldn't want this in my collection regardless of price. Add in the expensive price point and it's a no.

Too barber and vintage for me. An interesting perfume with good strength and longevity, but it doesn't excite me. Not my scent. A universal masculine perfume. It also smells like an empty wine barrel. I bought it at a good price and I don't regret it, but it's not a super hit either. Overall rating 7/10

Nice woody spicy scent, however, I did not experience the strong performance people say they have despite over spraying. The longevity is good but rather the projection I feel is very intimate after 45 Mins.

Just bought this fragrance, and I don't want to hate on something, but this isn't my taste. I feel like it smells way to woody, but in a bad way. Something similar to bushes. And also I feel an excruciating oud smell. This type of smell is a no - no for me. And well at this price, it is a double no - no.

Tested it and it was okey, but kinda weird smell in there for me like some raw carrot or something. Def dont wanna wear something like that, lol. To each their own.

In the personal notes in fragrance pages that fragrantica put as a great option for users in order to write some points to remind them when surfing the pages, i have written in this page some words long ago that are truly said it all when i sniffed this blend again today. I wrote: "i have sniffed this blend before! leathery citrusy with herbals. Like "Knize 10" maybe? A variation of reckless roja dove" Indeed, this blend smells like Roja's "Reckless" for men, very VERY similar to it as if it's a replica! Well.. nothing more to explain :)

Clive C X Man vs. Monarch I blew on the left and right hands at the same time. Very similar opening, they open with a fresh spicy rather than a citrusy one. After 5 minutes, the Monarch becomes sweeter because of the cloves. I like it better, it's not as dry as CcX. Minutes pass, Monarch lasts. The Clive goes quiet next to him. In 30 minutes Monarch is the winner! No doubt which one I would buy.

Some aspects of meander. Some aspects of something like NYI (not really but a somewhat of a freshness). Reminiscent of a carrot as well. Drowning in cloves. Exactly what I wanted. Stunning fragrance. Wear it a few times and you'll fall in love.

Never expected that but it has a resemblance to Tom Ford costa azurra parfum with the addition of cloves. The fragrance smells like a niche fragrance, lasts long, radiates well, and suits most occasions except for the hottest days of summer.

Such a beautiful fragrance, smells identical to Clive Christian X for men but i get so much better performance with Monarch. My new signature scent! Love it.

Oh man this juice is holy. Longevity and projection is beast mode. Also %99 identical to Clive Christian X. Great smell !
