Vanilla Oud

Right after application, I definitely get vanilla and I also get something that really smells like it's out of a New Age store...incense, but not the usual kind? A tiny bit of sour apple, maybe, or rhubarb (later I smell the rhubarb, initially the apple). There's a sweet fruitiness here, but it's not the key note and it's a touch sour (the oud, I think). It's a fresh fruit bite - the cashier at the New Age store is having a fresh fruit salad as you walk in, maybe. That distant. This one is heavy on the vanilla for me (which I like) and very gourmand on my skin. There's a hit of ash, but freshly-burned ash from a leaky, resinous wood. After it sits a bit, I get pure vanilla and sappy, oily resin with a touch of smoky wood and fruit. No floral notes, which I enjoy as a change. It's a little masculine on me, but not in a way I dislike so I would call this truly unisex. After it sits maybe 20 minutes, I get a slightly-burnt caramel note (like a fresh crème brulée). It stays complex on my wrist and doesn't go one-note on the dry down. It does go a bit more feminine and sweet as it wears. Loses some of the initial smokey, resinous quality (but not all). This is warm and inviting. Your hippie aunt who is into crystals, dresses in long flowered skirts, is a professed follower of modern paganism and collects rare books about...science circa 1850 or something (the kind with weird, creepy drawings of animal skeletons). But she's also pretty and nice and smiles a lot and you like visiting, especially because she always has fresh pastries baking. Or it's your uncle who reminds you a bit of Hugh Hefner, for some reason. As it sits longer I get a little bit of...almost a boozy quality? Whisky smoke, but light. Which is great because I love boozy notes. Really, to boil this down, this is like a slightly-burnt oil resinous vanilla caramel with a hint of smoky whiskey-ness. Very nice. Probably a 9.5/10 for me - I bought a bottle. I just wish it leaned more into the smokiness? My only critique. Also, as someone with a super sensitive nose this does not trigger me at all (rare, due to the modern over use of musk-heavy scents imo). It really made me realize I want a VERY smoky vanilla in my life (this isn't quite that).

Every few months you'll see in the Facebook groups a fragrance getting rave reviews from everyone, then you try it for yourself, and it's not the same. Vanilla Oud is one of those fragrances that's actually worth the hype. I'm not saying they're directly similar, but I'm getting major Layton vibes from this. They're both what I would classify as "Vanilla Florals", sweet floral scents that could be worn in the day as easily as the night. Like Layton, Vanilla Oud opens up with a crisp green apple note, this time surrounded by a very fragrant saffron and tart rhubarb. The apple doesn't last that long, maybe about ten minutes, then the saffron becomes the main character at play. The rose-oud-saffron combination is one that I've experienced before, but here it's not as elegant and rich as the others. Vanilla Oud is very easy to wear IMO. After about 30-45 minutes, the sweet, burnt caramel vanilla triumphantly arrives. This with the touch of oud present is a joy to catch whiffs of in the air. Fresh and sweet, this can be worn in the spring as well as the fall and winter. Longevity and projection is great, can still smell this on clothes a couple days later. Maybe this shouldn't be worn with sweatpants or whatever, but this also doesn't seem like it should be reserved for special occasions and formal wear either. Just a very wearable, enjoyable offering from a house that I'll get more familiar with over the upcoming months. One of my favorite pickups this winter. 9/10

I will say, this really did surprise me. I blind bought this because of reviews I've seen on Youtube. It originally came in and was very faint after a couple of sprays, smelled like a dense vanilla with 0 top notes. I was pretty disappointed. I left it in my drawer where the fragrances I don't like go to die because I can never bring my self to sell anything from my collection. I pulled it out after a month or so and jesus christ. It's probably the most interesting vanilla scent I have. Its such a nice smooth vanilla with this great mass appealing oud that runs through the entirety of the fragrance. It starts off with an amazingly well paired blast of fruity citrus. I'm a chef and I took note of how well rhubarb, apple, lemon, caramel (saffron) and vanilla goes together. Then it starts drying down after about 20 minutes into this incredible floral, saffron, and cashmere supporting cast giving it this seriously elegant and superbly well blended creation. Which carries pretty linearly into the ultimate dry down, thank goodness too because I really couldn't get enough of it. Another side not, after a couple months with this frag I started trying out a lot of their other scents and this house is absolutely my favorite house now. I have 6, (and 3 of them make up my top 10) and all other houses i only have 2, except Dior, there's 4 of them.

This perfume smells great in the heat again too. I will try it at very hot temperatures, but I think summer might be a cool evening. I do not know, I will try. It was available in spring, cool. Ud is in a different cocktail temperature. Oudh is a perfect note. I know a new one. Is there any synthetic sugar in this perfume, but the naturalness is felt very much. I hope there is not too much syntheticism. They feel good. Try it, skin, test it. If you like, you can write to me. Solid smoky, maybe somewhat drunken vanilla, with a true (confirmed from other review I've seen) distinguished funk/twist that makes it's worth the whole experience for me. Amazing for nights out or even dressier "informal" situations. I do not consider this a daily fragrance, perhaps only for colder days in early spring and fall-winter. Sticks to my skin for a good bit of projection and sillage for the initial hours, then without being too sweet, the warm and delicious vanilla takes over. For the ~$100/100ml I paid for this it is WORTH the experience for high end vanilla. Leans masculine and I don't think it really suits a feminine approach, only if you're an all black wearer or perhaps into masculine fragrances. The woody backbone here gives support throughout the life of the fragrance somewhat close to 8-9 hours on skin. SAMPLE FIRST (one of the few fragrances I have gotten a decant prior going in blindly and do not regret the decision).

It smells great right now. In the winter, vanilla and sweetness were on the front and there was oud again. The air was warm, the oud was on the front, it was perfect .. A very personless(character) oud who is not very arabic. Mysterious, mysterious .. I understand the value of the oud tree. Öd, ud, oud, oudh, the real name is ud-u hindi. I'll try it in the summer and in the summer in the summer .. I will definitely go to winter and the spring now, I think it can be used.. This is a natural vanilla, it reminds me of vanilla of Mexican origin, think spicy vanilla. saffron on the opening. After I would say 15-30 minutes you get airy vanilla and some fruity notes, then some sweetness and woods. Vanilla oud reminds me of a better composed Swiss Arabian Shaghaf Oud without the intense oud and chocolate notes and much less sweet and more rounded. This is a more grown up fragrance, cigar bar, black tie, evening out in brisk weather that is in my opinion a true unisex without being too masculine or too feminine. Quality: 10 Composition: 9 Longevity: 10 Versatility: 9 Reading reviews that trash a oud fragrance are sometimes done by people who just don’t like Oud or have no Oud in their collection. Oud is one of those notes that you either hate it or love it. I often like to look at one’s profile to see what their tastes are.

First impressions, this is a banger and deserved the hype it got a few years back in the community. The initial blast has a slight leathery oud smell which is mild at best. Then within 30 minutes it turns into a beautiful spicy vanilla, with some slight leather, saffron, and burnt caramel—a masculine take on a vanilla scent. Its only been about 2-3 hours but by the end of the day I will probably have a bottle on the way. Instant love, will update later. The price on discounters is great and well worth it. Last, because the OUD is a point that people bring up in the reviews, it's very wearable with this one. It's not front and center, but it adds depth, so its not just vanilla vanilla vanilla (like everything out there these days).

You have to let this baby sit for a while in order to appreciate the magic found in Vanilla Oud. I purchased VO earlier last year and when I sprayed it, I was immediately underwhelmed and turned off. Fast-forward to now and thought I'd just spray it again for sh*ts and giggles and WOW!!! What a surprise to be enveloped in a warm, inviting vanilla. The oud is blended exceptionally well. It's not skanky, but rather smooth and it anchors the fragrance without overpowering it. VO is definitely unisex and is a beast. Spray lightly to fully enjoy and appreciate this fragrance.

Intoxicating...I did get a compliment wearing this, if you care about that sort of thing. This is not a unique DNA...definitely can remind someone of a Middle Eastern brand fragrance from Rasasi, Lattafa, etc. However, it's done so smooth here...a Westernized version of the DNA...also nice to come across sweet-oud scents that don't contain rose. I should also say there is a marshmallow vibe to this...and a bit of freshness...but still definitely an evening time scent that would only be appropriate in Fall, Winter and Spring evenings...not for office wear at all.

Finally this blind buy was successful. i bought it and I didn’t open it i was scared that doesn’t smell good or something after pdm Oajan i’m scared if blind buying anything beside that lets talk about this but its only first impression i’ll update later. The first spray i smelled it in the air and I confused for 2 sec and i smiled. Even the smell still weird to me now it reminds me of arabs red oil perfume i mean the pure oil for some reason but in a good way! If this is storng and last long and project good its a good perfume and worth it to be on my shelves

Gorgeous! This is the kind of oud that like the most. A dry, clean, non animalic oud that has an almost plastic edge to it. A mostly woody, sweet and powdery fragrance, it also has a fruity/spicy edge to it in the opening. I am glad that they didn't go overboard on the florals, especially the rose. I only use 2 or 3 sprays max, very potent. The opening is alot. Very "in your face" alot, a little assertive, but I like that. Give it 30 min and it calms down to a nice, enveloping scent bubble. I can't stop smelling myself.

Blind buy and and it was an instant love. I was worried as I’ve only seen mostly men review this on YouTube/TT but this definitely unisex and on my skin I definitely get the powdery violet, rhubarb, apple, vanilla and patchouli coming through - it’s beautifully blended and balanced with the sweetness, fruitiness and woodiness. I honestly feel that women would like this too. Absolutely gorgeous fragrances but more appropriate for special occasions- it also gets stronger the longer you wear it 9.5/10 recommend

Vanilla Oud by Vertus. My rating would be a 9/10 I used so much of this last year, it’s like 2024-early 2025 nostalgia, a very fondly recalled time of my life. So I’m bias but man it’s great. It’s smooth, very smooth. Like an icecream scoop going through vanilla ice cream. It’s sweet with this very westernized oud backing it. Simple, sweet, and lovely. It manages to be easy to enjoy and unique at the same time. Good stuff. Better memories

Not every perfume of the Vertus brand is beautiful for me, but it is very beautiful for me. You try please, you know.. This perfume is one beautiful Mashallah :) .. damn this is very good. nice sweetness with some oud vibes very well blended smells very good. i was afraid that it was going to be feminine but it was actually unisex down the middle so very good to wear for both men and woman. very good very strong and an beautifull. not a hard to like scent! i like it alot and will probably add a bottle in my collection like i will do with a couple more from this house.

This is a mouth watering 💦 beast ❤️🔥 creamy burnt vanilla for days 🤌 I get the comparison between this and Raghba Wood Intense but I believe they are not the same. RWI has smokier burnt sugar vibe... Vanilla Oud is a highly addictive fragrance, folks will constantly ask you "what are you wearing" 💫💥💯

Vertus Vanilla Oud is a gorgeous fragrance, nearly delicious smelling with an absolutely gorgeous oud. The oud here is far from animalic. It's smooth and creamy. The best oud Vanilla perfume I have ever smelled!!! Good sillage and longevity. I typically wear this on special occasions.

Got a sample of this fragrance and didn’t like it at first. Didn’t really get any sweetness and got a strong oud up close. However, in the air, this fragrance smells magnificent. A very natural smelling vanillla mingles with the oud and is captivating. For $120 this is a great frag.

What a unique vanilla scent this is a amazing scent in my opinion the opening wasn’t my favourite at first but i love the dry down and the more i wear it the more i start appreciating the opening as well I would say sample before buying i can see some not enjoying this one

A beautifully blended fragrance. If you enjoy woody oriental gourmand frags, this is a must have. Although it's unisex, it leans more towards masculine and reminiscent of Arabian Oud's Kalemat Black (which I also own and love) The silage and longevity are phenomenal!

This is a hidden gem. I ordered a sample out of curiosity and now own a full bottle. For me, it's in the same ballpark as MFK's Grand Soir, but stronger and with a touch of leather. Highly recommended!

Delicious vanilla with that lovely complexity from the soft oud. Note: I sprayed this on a sweater, put it on 7 days later and was still getting compliments. Absolute powerhouse on clothing.

I found this similar to Montale's Dark Vanilla. But this is a smoother, rounder take on it but still quite stout. It's blended very well; quite lovely. Down the line unisex, I feel.

Smoky, woody, sweet goodness. I’m surprised this isn’t more popular given the success of sweet oud scents like Mula Mula. This has more character more depth and is truly unisex.

Mancera Aoud Vanille but more mass appealing. I love both, but this is more wearable.

I’m coming back to give a full review as I have now worn this perfume 5+ times. Vanilla oud is interesting to say the least. Theres a candied saffron opening and a very prominent and smooth cashmere wood. The oud in the base is prominent throughout the entire perfume, but it acts very uniquely to my nose. It’s not woody in a way that cedar is woody, and it’s not animalic or fecal in a way that real oud acts. It’s neither metallic nor medicinal either. What it offers is this subtle warm sensation with the tiniest bit of funk. The funk is something I haven’t smelled in any other perfume...not fecal or animalic, but different. The vanilla doesn’t act normal here either. It’s not light and airy, it’s not even very dominant to my nose either. In fact, it gets overshadowed by a burning caramel smell (guaic+ethyl moltol). The vanilla is more of a dark vanilla that’s hiding behind warm spices, absolutely NOTHING like the vanilla note in manceras aoud vanille which is a lot more creamy and has more of a vanilla ice cream type of vanilla. Nevertheless, this is a great perfume... plus, I’m not rating it based on its name. It’s blended to perfection, it’s smooth and high quality, unique without trying too hard, and fun without being too youthful. I really enjoy this, but it for sure needs a sample. Edit: has a touch of that angels share DNA from that sweet vanilla and boozy-ish apple note. It’s not the same though Edit: it’s been about a week since this review and I enjoy this perfume more with every wear. I think that it’s important to give perfumes 5-8 full wears *if possible* before giving it a full review so that you can understand it.

Opens with a heady sweet, fruity oud that quickly tones down and the vanilla becomes more pronounced with the dry down. The fruit smells like plum (must be the apple, rhubarb) and the oud is dusty and woody adding a little twist to the sweet vanilla base without being too much. The saffron is light which I appreciate because I can find it sickening in combination with booze/oud and sweet notes (e.g. Born From Fire by Simone Andreoli, BTSO Drunk Saffron) and is probably why I prefer this over Side Effect. Not very diffusive, it’s heavy and dries to a small scent bubble. Feels like something for date night. Overall a classy and cozy amber with some other facets to give it some depth. If you get it discounted it’s pretty good value.

It’s not nearly as vanilla or oud heavy as the name would imply. Nothing like mancera’s aoud vanille, but this is very very good. The opening notes give the perfume an almost sugar-free cherry gum vibe, and that’s paired with a creamy but light vanilla and a cashmere wood. I wouldn’t know oud was in here if I didn’t read the name. It’s extremely well blended, and a beautiful perfume, but it’s not what I expected. That’s not a bad thing, though. I think that after 5 or 6 full wears of this perfume, I will find myself in love with it. Right now, 8.3/10

I don’t know how to describe this one... It’s a lovely scent that does last a long time and the sillage is very impressive and diffusive, The most prominent note is this candied vanilla and obviously the Oud in the back. it’s not stinky at all and quite nice. I haven’t smelt fragrances like it and it has a sweetness to it idk from what? probably the apple. it’s very nice and has a dry candied vanilla is the best way to describe it

There is a note of diesel fuel supported by some waxy vanilla oud supporting it in it in the first half hour of its life. This is an update. Wait an hour, this turns into a magical scent.

Pretty good, has this funk that makes it not worth owning for me. I can see some of the appeal but this just isn’t for me but I respect the composition. 7/10

Pretty dang good, I enjoy it more now than I did initially. I think the Rhubarb kills it though, it gives the opening a sour/veggie funk I can't stand.

It’s ok to me. It’s not a bad scent at all, likeable and simple. Doesn’t do much for me at all or amaze me. I get exactly what the main accords are, a simple vanilla with a woody oud. No the oud is not fecal, barnyard, etc and any review that says that probably needs to re-examine their nose. As someone that doesn’t like a lot of oud fragrances I’d actually wear this, but I already have a lot of vanilla fragrances I’d wear over this so that’s why it’s just ok to me. Wouldn’t buy a full bottle but I see why people like it. 6/10

Guys this one has been overhyped extremely, I didn’t look up notes or comparisons at all on this before trying it, my initial thought was it smells a lot like kalemat black, raghba wood intense, 24 gold. If you’ve smelled these frags, this should be a pass for you. I would say it isn’t even as smooth as some of those, and with the price, just go for raghba wood intense, gives you the same vibe and wearability for 1/10th the price

Almost exactly same drydown as Mancera Red Tobacco. Notes ingredients are almost exactly the same between the two.

A challenging heavy oud on the opening that dries down to something lighter and more pleasant.

Saying this fragrance is over rated and not good, would be a great understatement. There is nothing sweet or good about it. A bunch of youtubers said the same thing, and we dumb sheep fell for the hype.

Right out of the atomizer, this smells exactly like Jack Daniels Old No.7 whiskey to me...I mean EXACTLY like it. That more-familiar-than-I -wish-it-was scent lasts about 5 seconds. Then when the alcohol evaporates, the scent becomes what Old No.7's scent would likely be without the alcohol; charred wood with notes of vanilla, caramel and hints of something fruity. This is the opening. It lasts about 2 hours on my skin until the oud really begins to transform this into something interesting in the mid. The mid At now...sometimes I get the hamster cage-like aroma of cedar chips and a hint of musk. Sometimes l pick up something That reminds me of Old English furniture polish. Sometimes I smell apple cider. And eventually, it smells like all of those things sitting on the shelf inside a Krispy Kreme during their baking hours It's this for about an hour until it settles into its drydown. It is the phase that obviously inspired the name of the fragrance. It's just this gourmand vanilla with these sweet, smoky woods. It seems so simple, but Holy Lord this drydown is ahhhhhmazing!!! It's a phenomenal closer that fades out completely at about the 6 hour mark. On me, this fragrance is an average performer that sits close to the skin and is nearly undetectable after 5 hours Usually, that would be a deal-breaker on a fragrance this expensive. But, it's possibly the most non-linear scent I've ever worn. I get something different ever time I sniff it. It's masterfully-blended and smells high quality. So maybe all of that makes up for it's weaknesses?? I don't know. This was a blind buy for me, and I was surprised. It's completely different from what I was expecting it would be. It develops into more of a pure gourmand than I would have ever expected from a niche oud fragrance. It's really nice. I wish it performed better on me. It's a unisex fragrance, and my wife gets better performance out of it than I do. But, honestly it's not great on her either. 8.2 out of 10.

Mmmm. Mmmmm good. Something about this makes me think of Initio's side Effect. Except there's no rum in this. This is a perfectly blended vanilla oud scent. Very wearable oud. Doesn't project far but lasts forever! Wear in Spring Fall or winter. Perfect for a date night. Stupendously unisex So real story...its cool here this one night. I just gor this in the mail decided to give it a wear. Put on a pair of dark wash jeans and a lt green shirt with a pair of boots and gave myself 5 sprays. Took about 35 min to get into town and settled in a fav restaurant bar. I'm sipping an old fashioned chatting up this lady to my left. 2nd drink comes out and I reach for it. Person I'm talking to says oh wow that's you. And I'm like what. She's like that scent is heavenly. The girl across the bar is like uh yea you do smell like really really good. I laugh take the compliment but then I smelled by the lady to my right who tells the bartender..gosh I'm glad you said it. Then, I get smelled by the first lady I'd been talking to. In the end, I had three beautiful ladies flanking me praising my scent and copying the name of the scent for later purchase of their own. So I know I said it doesn't project far and it's not strong and it's not but it is noticeable and distinct and anyone within an arms length is going to whiff it. Blind buy worthy. Mass appealing while not disappointing niche frag heads. Definitely dries down into something so seductive, I'm pleased.

Very nice and delicious, would have bought a FB but I already own one that’s very similar to this called desire by Elisire which I absolutely adore and I think it’s the better of the two scents, especially performance wise as desire is quite a powerhouse. They are not 100% the same scents but very very close, so close I would personally find it redundant to own both hence why I won’t be moving forward with a full bottle. In terms of value, you get more juice for your money with vanilla oud but I still found it a little lacking in comparison to desire composition wise, perhaps that’s just because desire is one of my most fav fragrances I own but they both are really great scent profiles and mass appealing compliment getters for sure. I would say if you really enjoy this and care about having a beast mode version of it in a beautiful gold bottle then go with desire but if you care about having more juice for your money and are okay with moderate performance then go with vanilla oud. By moderate performance I mean it projected well for a few hours then settled close to the skin. Desire projects all day for me, it’s one of those few fragrances I don’t have to top up with if I’m out all day.

As always fragrance is subjective so take this review with a grain of salt. I was excited to get this 1 ml sample because all I've heard was talk and hype about this fragrance. However when I put it on my skin, I definitely get the vanilla and there is Oud in there, but right off rip there is something in this on my skin and to my nose that smells like a Grandma's perfume. It could be the rose in there and the flowery aspects of it. But I smell it. It could be the combination of rose, jasmine, and cyclamen, but whatever it is, it's turning it slightly slightly powderish and with that Grandma smell to it. For me this is a no-go. Even though I like it about 45%. The rest of it is creating that scent that I cannot get away from. Women can rock this. For me, I wish it did not have the off putting floral aspects because you can tell its damn good otherwise. It does last a very long time and it's strong. Little bit cloying. In the end drydown your left with Vanilla. However if you like it, more power to you. To each their own. 8.0 Scent 8.0 performance.

Opening was actually BAD and I was about to write it off completely due to a difficult to discern sour note with a boozy vanilla that was simply not pleasing to any of the group of us testing it. Dry down improved it, but it wasn't until AN HOUR LATER that it turned into the really nice, somewhat powdery vanilla that people rave about. Do not judge by first sniff, this ends well! Side note: we compared Vertus Vanilla Oud to Nishane Ani since there was a lot of talk about that. Ani is fresher, lighter, woodier, and (for 4 people) fantastic and far more pleasing in the opening and first hour. However, after an hour when I compared wrists, they surprisingly flip flopped! The Nishane offering lost the woody freshness and ended up more feminine, basic vanilla whereas Vertus really became next level and more preferred by everyone (slightly). Nishane Ani did have more staying power in the long run. Both are excellent vanillas.

I am loving the few samples of this that I have laying around and have been testing it against my full sizes of Kalemat Black and RWI, and they are honestly different in my opinion. I see where the initial spray has similarities between KB and VO, but that is probably about it. The dry down of KB is Oudy and sweet from an apparent fruit note. VO is charred caramel vanilla with almost no oud present after the dry down, at least for me. RWI doesn't make sense as a comparison either, because it is sooo different. Woody and smoky with a hint of sugar. They're all definitely different enough to own all, imo.

absolutely 0 stank oud if that's anyone's concern. This is so nice. I'm getting a nice blend of the oud w the carmel-y vanilla that goes so well together. i'd say this is the closest to a gourmand that oud could get, it is really great. i smelled raghba wood intense and this smells nothing like that lol that shits ass, so much of liquorice in that one and it's so stupidly synthetic. if you're on the fence and can find this for a good price i say go for it, it's hard to dislike if you like vanilla and want a very likeable oud that's pretty unique. very, very nice!

So I received a sample of this and I will say that there is a note that is very off-putting to me. I was surprised reading the raving reviews because I literally had to scrub this off of me, it made me feel sick smelling it. This is definitely more masculine leaning to me. I am a woman however, if a man was wearing this I would not think it was a pleasant or an attractive smell by any means. I think maybe it is too heavy on woodiness and oud. I don't usually say I heavily dislike a fragrance but this is just extremely off-putting to me.

This has the signature Vertus oud but here it is not overloaded with spices as in many of their other perfumes. It is very dense and sweet, although this is cut through in the opening by a bright citrus accord which is very fleeting. The overall character of the perfume is delicious, like dates steeped in syrup. There is no hint of floralcy, this is definitely a gourmand oud which is perfect for autumn and winter, and unisex. In the dry down I detect a warm smokiness. Longevity 8+ hours, sillage moderate
