Sirene

We are coming close to the end of the rose reviews that I have written for the upcoming Valentines day. Vicky Tiel Sirene is a Heritage rose bouquet. There is something about the beauty of old English damask roses that is elegant and fragrant and yet the do not stand out as having perfect form and bud. They kind of spread out and work best to compliment other flowers in a bouquet. Sirene is a wondrous scent. Its complex and the complimentary notes assist the rose while not quite outshining the star. I believe that it was nosed by the amazing Jeffrey Dame. And that it is a sibling scent of Ulysse. Ulysse might still be my favorite fragrance of all time and I have worn it hundreds if not thousands of times and it still seems new. Sirene has a good deal of notes as well and each seems natural, blended well, and yet each noticeable and distinct. There is a quality in the base and a call to sailors of attractive presence who would struggle in vain to resist its notice. Vicky Tiel makes amazing fragrances and if I were to tell one all the things that I like about this one, the review would be long enough to draw complaints and reject notice. Performance like with Ulysse is fabulous. It has fantastic longevity and good sillage. All you could ask for in a fragrance. Value is superb. This is a designer scent with a reference point of $20 an ounce and yet it is easily purchasable for under $20 and you can find it for $5 an ounce. My usage of this one is heavy. As with Ulysse, I find it perfect for Spring, Summer and Early fall and its strong enough to not shy fail in winter as well. It gets maximum extra credit for being repeat bottle worthy. I own not one or two but rather well over several backup bottles. And I do not plan on using them as gifts or swaps. I bought a wealth of backup bottles even long before I knew that Jeffrey Dame was the nose behind it. I did not want to risk reformulations or watching it discontinued and I bought what should be a near lifetime supply and even then I worry about running low. I easily open and use a full bottle of Vicky Tiel per year. They are frequent wears and this one rates with any of the house though it is a bit more feminine. This is an easy grade at 92. It has stared down very good and entered the realm of excellent. Sirene grades out as being in the same subset of quality as that of any rose fragrance ever made. It is so good that I honestly could care less if I ever own a Tom Ford Rose, Lyric Man, or Portrait of a Lady or any other rose that costs $100 an ounce or more. I honestly could see why men would drive their ships into rocks to get a the Sirens wearing this scent. Graded out at 92 there is room for improvement but I do not think anybody that wears this scent at anytime or to any function would ever have to take a backseat to someone wearing a better fragrance. This one isnt perfect but its excellent and entirely deserving of an A- grade. If one were to make bouquets with Damask flowers there is so much that you could do with them. And that is how I feel about Sirene. It is fresh and inviting and floral but it also has a zesty citrus feel with complexity musk and woods. It smells different on different days, temperatures, occasions, weather, mood and occasion. It gives you florals, and a bright rich rose. But it gives you some white, and some sweet vanilla cream pie. The geranium shines. And you get to the drydown base the musk and woods give it almost a foresty wet fresh cut feel. The bottle is nice and Vicky Tiel is said to have designed it herself. Even if someone hated this the bottle would be worth the price of admission. You can buy 10 bottles of this for the price of a high end niche scent which you might like less. It performs. It has some sillage. It smells natural and worth 20 times its cost and is sold at virtual giveaway prices. There is absolutely nothing that I can think of to fault this fragrance. There is room for improvement but any gripes are honestly slight. Ive docked it a little bit for not letting the rose be the absolute star but even then it is a slight problem. When something is this well blended it is ok if you do not have a loud obnoxious rose that demands notice. And you could almost forgive a fragrance that calls itself Sirene for having some screech. But it doesnt. Its pleasant, natural, beautiful, sweet, fresh, perky, affordable, long lasting, with a lovely bottle, and a complex smell that you will probably want to smell again tomorrow. Its a shame that so many will miss out on this one to chase prestige and fragrances of vain glory and price. Damask roses do not have perfect form but they are unmatched in scent. And with the right floral arranger they make some of the most beautiful bouquets you can find. Sure hybrid teas are known for their form and floribundas bloom more often but the Damask Rose is natural, and vitally fragrant. Damask roses were the flowers of legend written about across the ages. Vicky Tiel Sirene is almost an old masters still life painting in a world of portraits tipted by cubism and angles. This is a fragrance of women calling ships to the rocks and yet despite the name of the shreek there is something of the visage here, song and smell, that invites the reach of the hand and turn of the wheel that mourns of the come hither.

This is like being fresh out of the shower! I describe this fragrance as a fresh, cold, clean and very soapy and somewhat powdery fragrance. But I describe this talc more as a rose soap that is quite foamy and fresh, fresh without being aquatic, rather cold, like cold water. I don't find the talc in this fragrance like the common ones that are often confused with fragrances for older women, or talcs like La Vie Est Belle, Chanel No.5 or Lou Lou by Cacharel. It is very elegant and feminine, it is not informal, something vintage but for me it is timeless. Not for everyday. For rose lovers of course. You have to tolerate the talcum powder. Its performance is very good, you can't apply too much because it can become heavy and overwhelm you. I do not recommend it for hot summer days! More bearable in cold and spring weather. Its price is very affordable, at least that's how I bought it, apart from the fact that its presentation is fabulous. Very pretty to have on the vanity table as it also serves as a Vintage decoration. I think it is not a fragrance for everyone, you have to have a developed nose adapted to different notes. If you only like typical sweet, fruity or Gourmands perfumes, this is not for you. So far, I can't find similarity between this perfume and another one, quite unique. If you like Jovan White Musk, I think you might like this one, because they have something in common, floral, fresh, clean, powdery... and Vintage! But I repeat ''I can't find similarity between this perfume and another one''.

I genuinely love this perfume , it goes on sale here in Miami so frequently, in the shops for $14 , it’s so bright so sharp , so rosy!! And that’s why I love it it’s definitely strong and when u spray and walk around others will smell you , I’m over the top . So I use this to mix my other fragrances for example this will sound so crazy but if you mix this perfume and Clinique’s aromatics elixir, you almost get the same DNA of the classic vintage Fendi women , and it’s not me making it up. I have six full-size Fendi bottles, two medium and three small bottles .. it gives off that rose chypre when mixed with aromatic , I also love mixing this rose, perfume with anything with patchouly and oud .. I’ve even mixed it with tabu and smells amazing haha And I’m not light handed I go ham on this perfume when I mix it with others, but let me tell you I work in customer service in retail with Makeup and perfumes I’ve literally had people give me a hug just to smell me that’s how nice this perfume is ... Like I always say you have to wear the perfume the perfume cannot wear you.. be confident in it and you will see yourself walking around, smelling fabulous and possibly others hating but you know you’re amazing in this perfume ❤️

Magnificence in a bottle. I have the miniature, a frosted glass bottle with beautiful images of women surrounding the glass. The bottle is one of my most unique smalls. Sirene surrounds you immediately with a boozy rum scent of a Peaches Flambe. This is a rich, full, mysterious perfume that calls to your inner primal desires. Some fragrances are splashed, some are sprayed, some are walked through. Sirene is dabbed on pulse points and hidden areas. Sweet, powdery, heavily musky, this is a powerful weapon that takes you deep into the vortex of erotic perfumery. Sirene begins with lemony geranium and orange notes, followed by piercing, earthy florals of violet, jasmine and ylang-ylang, wrapped in powdery veils. This is a strong, animalic scent lasting hours. The vanille is strong and mature. As the Sirens sang their songs to the Mariners, as the Slavic Faeries were spirits of seduction, and Nymphs could bring madness and infatuation to an admirer, then this perfume is aptly named Sirene. If worn appropriately, it is a powerful drug ensconced within the bottle of maidens, not to be taken lightly or used daily. Sirene is for romance, for midnight dalliances, for seductions of love.

This is my daily fragrance, I almost always wear pink so this goes perfect with any outfit. It's very feminine, rosy, ethereal, clean, a lil powdery, fresh but a bit sweet, a floral sweetness tho, not exactly sugary. It is very sharp in the beginning but that top note doesn't last long. And it's powerful, so be careful with spraying. I always get overly excited to wear it and end up wearing maybe too much 😬 but i don't care because i find it very pleasant. The first time i ordered the 3.4oz bottle (clear glass and pink juice) i also got a small version of it (frosted glass, amber juice) which i think was probably the old one before reformulation. They are different, but you still recognize the scent. The old one smells a bit softer, warmer and a bit boozy. The new one is sharper and fresher. I love them both so much. And it's a cheap perfume, but it has great performance and it's unique enough where I live (everyone wears candy sweet ariana grande type scents) which i appreciate a lot haha. It also lasts long, more than 4 hrs on skin, and several days on clothes. Anyways i love this fragrance and the bottle it comes in 💖😊

I randomly blind-bought this (and I’m not sure why) but it must have been fate deciding, as I love this and it wants to be my signature. Let’s start with the bottle, I hate the strong pink colour of the liquid (as it looks so girly in my non-girly decor) and I hate the plastic bishops-hat style lid, but I love the glass bottle with the scantily-clad ladies all around. It smells like nothing else, but I’ll try to best describe it. It’s not dated nor vintage smelling in my opinion. The aldehydey opening is thrilling and I was willing for it not to change (as I hate vanilla). But the latter change is so comforting - it’s a warm, ambery, honeycomb-toffee-sugar, peachy-musk with floral highlights and ylang-ylang brightness. It mainly reminds me of Boadicea The Victorious ‘Valiant’ but without the hefty price tag, with a little ‘This is Her’ by Zadig & Voltaire but smoothed, refined and made ultra classy and wearable. It lasts (big selling point for me), it’s clean, it’s affordable, it isn’t overbearing nor too vanilla-sweet. An overlooked gem.

This lasts long on my skin and forever on clothes. I feel like I stole this for the price I paid. My liquid was pink if it makes a difference. One spray and I knew she was a gem. Powdery sweet flowers. I get floral more than rose. The sweetness is like powdered sugar. Light. It is soapy but as a person who dislikes soapy scents this is so feminine and delicate. Please let the scent come to you. Concentrated sprays do this perfume zero justice. I mixed this perfume. Half Sirene half Gyrfalcon The White Phase (a 540 clone) and it's sublime. Longevity is bonkers. TWP adds a bit more sweetness and gives it this flair that I cannot explain. The other half was mixed with Afnan Modest Deux. It turns into a sweet powdery cherry scent. It's powder for spring and the summer. It's refreshing. I will be buying another bottle because I like the scent as is. I just love mixing, lol. Powdery scents are more miss than a hit for me so finding this beauty at such an affordable price is a joy.

I received a sample of this from a fragrance friend. On first spray I was like woah this is sharp and has a lot going on! Then as it dried down I was so intrigued by what I was smelling. I have never understood what an aldehyde smelled like until this. When people say, fizzy, bubbly, I didn’t get it but this is effervescent like when you first open a carbonated beverage and then that sweet rose and violet combo linger so elegantly. I finally get it and this will be my foray into more aldehydic lovelies! On clothes this lasts for days, does smell Pink and girly girl femme. I will be picking up a full bottle because I need this interesting and glamourously vintage fume in my life! Edit: I did get a full bottle. Do you know what this smells like to me in the drydown? Pink Dove soap!

I didn't like this at first. I've let it sit for over a year and now it's paradise ☺️❤️ it doesn't smell weird anymore. In fact I can't stop sniffing my hand, it's so satisfying now. It's also 9 degrees Fahrenheit, so that could be the sweet spot. Although I'm sure I tried this in cold winter before and it didn't work. I believe it had to acclimate and settle and now it's ready. I can't describe what I'm smelling all I can say is it's gorgeous and addictive!!! And it was so overwhelming powder sweet tart strangeness. But not anymore! This gal is now comfortable in herself and is glowing! I'm so glad I didn't toss this as I was tempted to many times but the bottle is what kept me from doing so.

I used to drive a loong way to buy this..in the 90's you could only get this at Neiman Marcus. It was a special trip to make. And it was niche and very expensive. I would buy the O. G. Dolce & Gabbana with the red velvet cap, Angel by Mugler and this bright, happy floral by Vicky Tiel. Back in the 90's you would pay top dollar. The perfumes were BIG, and they had incredible performances. So many of them have been changed & watered down...this one has not. It's a steal for what you get. Bright, happy, heady florals that last and last. Use a light hand. Not much is needed. A beautiful bottle, filled with TNT florals that you can purchase for a song...what more could you want...

I tried this as a blind buy and I love it. It is purely floral. Previously I wore mainly Chanel No. 22, but it is difficult to find. This EDP lasts a long time, probably 8 hours, and is as complex as some of the more expensive perfumes, like j'Adore, which doesn't last nearly as long and is far more expensive. I'm surprised Sirene wasn't better marketed. It's a lovely, light, and complex floral with staying power. I'd recommend it to anyone who loves light florals with just a touch of warmth. Five Stars also made Norell, which is also nice but very strong, also with a long scent life. I always thought French perfumes were the best, but Sirene has proved me wrong.

I love getting perfumes in the mail. It's such a thrill to open a beautiful package and experience a new or already known scent. Today a mini of the amber colored Sirene edp arrived. The opening notes are intense florals that soften quickly into a powdery sweetness. There's a tiny hint of spice from the geranium, which tightens up the composition to keep it from being too sweet. Sillage and lasting power are average. The frosted flacon is beautifully detailed and will be a nice addition to any perfume bottle collection. Sirene is a modern feminine scent in the classic style. It's a well blended perfume and affordable, and I like it very much.

I love this fragrance and get many compliments on it. A clean soft, floral, rosey, powdery scent. I wear this year round and it's great for work. Personally, I wear it as a floral in winter b/c it's comforting. My 8 year old son loves this perfume on me, he calls it my "shell" perfume. Women have said " you smell exactly like a flower. Like a real flower you pick" and "You smell so good! I don't mean to offend you but like a sophisticated Love's baby soft". To me, this is a very soft fragrance and one that can be used everyday.

Blind bought this after catching my eye at TJMAXX at a great price for the edp. Looked it up here and the notes are what I like along with the mostly positive reviews so I got it. I absolutely love it! I agree that it's a bit similar to loulou, which I adore but it has a soapy sharpness to it like L"air du temps also. A great combination with a powder and rose dry down. Give it a few minutes to settle down before judging the scent as it took me back a bit when I first sprayed it on.

The opening notes are bright and intense rose and jasmine which settle slowly to musks and fresh spice. What I love about this bargain of a perfume is after a few hours the woods radiate out. On my skin I actually get a very subtle hint of smoke. This is a powerhouse of a perfume in terms of sillage and longevity so spray carefully. Wasn't sure what to think after reading all the reviews, but after buying I am impressed. Believe the hype.

It’s a gorgeous perfume, bottle designe and scent profile. The pink color is most definitely appropriate. Having read violet’s review, I ,too, have an 80s bottle of poison edt. I gotta say I definitely smell a similarity with the musky soapy rose being the difference. I think of it as Dior poison rose spice. LOL I’m happy that sirene did not trigger a migraine for me. Lots of perfumes do so unfortunately. It projects well too.

Mmmm mmmm mm so freaking good! I can’t help but notice the similarity between this on and... wait for it... Dior poison original edt from the 80s!!!! I had multiple people sniff both just to confirm and yes! It’s definitely a rosy fresh spicy rendition of Dior poison original edt. This perfume is absolute steal for the price. The bottle design is gorgeous! My bottle is actually the clear glass with pink juice. Love love love 🌹

Sirene by Vicky Tiel is sweet...almost edible like Sweet and Sour Asian Yum Dish ;-). But, I like it none the less. I wear it to work to lift my mood, especially on one of those high pressure days...deadlines. I returned to the store before the Manager Sale ended and purchase two more gift sets (greater savings than the bottle by itself). The Gift set was a full size EDP Spray. It lasts all day on my garments.

this smells like the color pink, sprayed it in the car and my sister was like "holy shit" she then sprayed some on herself bc she loved it. Smells like the soap that was at my grandma's country club. Lasts upwards of 18 hours on clothing, the first spritz sort of reminded me of yardley lavender, but it mellowed out into something completely different as as it dried down.

Soapiest rose ever, this smells nothing like the tuberose heavy Poison that the person below me said. This is roses and soap poison is tuberose and plum. I just had to point that out for anyone interested in this don’t expect that. I know she has other fragrances in similar bottles maybe she got one of those because again, Sirene is 0 like poison.

This is one deeply intense rose! I absolutely love Sirene and when I smell myself while wearing it I get shamefully aroused. If you want to seduce somebody, this is the perfume for you. It's not too floral that it smells like a school girl, but it's also not that extremely "sexy" bordering-on-animal-pee aroma that I seem to run into so often.

I got this two months ago, mainly for the bottle. The fragrance then was awful. But returned to it today and it is really delightful. Light orange and rose with peach on top. Just a really great spring fragrance. I love it now and you can’t beat the price. A great fragrance for spring. This one needs to settle a while after you get it

One of my all time favorites! I think it smelled fresh and sexy on me. Orange Blossom is the greatest smell in the world to me, so I must have got the orange in this pretty clear. I also remember the woodsy part, but do not remember the vanilla at all. I will have to keep an eye out for it. It is hard to find and I am on a budget.

THIS ONLY TAKES A LITTLE TO LAST ALL DAY AND THE COMPLIMENTS I RECEIVE WHEN I WEAR THIS ARE ONGOING AND SINCERE. TRY IT!

This is a very special rose, sweet and soft, it starts out wet, becomes powdery and romantic and goes back to a rose soaked by rain on a spring day. It's a very feminine, and delicate fragrance. I adore being wrapped up in its gentle sweetness.

Smells really nice and fresh. Very clean and soapy, very much giving bubble bath. Reminds me of the Dove Bars of soap, the white and the pink one as well. Could pottentially smell old lady to your nose if you’re not a big fan of soapy scents.

Blind buy about a dozen years ago. Instant love. It's been my signature secret scent ever since. No other fragrance garners as many compliments as this does. It's strong. Heady. Intoxicating. Sexy. A warm floral. Sillage is very strong

This is a really nice fragrance. I was given a little sample and was really surprised to see the cheap price point It reminds me a little of Eaudemoiselle Givenchy. It lasts ages too. This is well worth a try.

Just use this last night and got plenty of compliments. wore it today and compliments come flowing .I just love it. and it last,and last forever

Why!!!??? This was my 8 dollar treasure now it's jacked up! Why!? Makes me sooo 😡

Excuse while I sniff my arm....Wow! What a beauty and at such a reasonable price!

Super surprised by this. For some strange reason seeing that bottle made me think that this would be a girly powderpuff rose perfume. It's not. While I do get powder and rose, there is so much more going on here than just that. This starts with a blast of orange and geranium, then heavy ylang, almost to the point of overwhelmingly so, soon joined by jasmine and violets - sweet, sweet violets. It made me think of Insolence at this point. Then the rose and peony become more prominent along with vanilla, and only then do I start to get a light airy powder. Unlike other powdery scents that mute the floral notes, it doesn't here. The florals remain high pitched and loud but not screechy at all. There is also something here underlying it all that I'm having difficulty describing. Almost like a spiciness or aromatics, yet not either. I can't figure out what it is, but it adds an erotic touch, a sultriness that belies the girly pink hued juice. Could that be the geranium? Eventually it all settles down onto a peachy, musky, slightly woody base, and that's when it starts to get powdery, which does tamp down the volume somewhat but this is still bigger than most fragrances today. Overall, it is a very unusual and unique scent, beautiful really. I can't think of a single perfume I've tried to date that even remotely smells anything like it. It's certainly not a typical rose perfume, as it's more floral than that. Longevity and silage are monstrous with one spray too. I think more than that would be too much as even that one spray bordered on too much for me. This probably would be better dabbed on. It's surprising that this came out in '95 since it seems more fitting for the eras of big fragrances than the mid 90s where we were starting to see a rejection of all that. Could that be why it eventually found its way into the discount bin? While overall I really like it, the jury is still out mainly because I can't think of a single place, outside of being alone in my house or outdoors, where I could wear a big fragrance like this without overwhelming others around me. I have the same problem with fragrance like Poison too. But I'm sure to wear it at some point in the future, even if only when cleaning my house. Since I got it on the clearance rack at TJ's for little more than the price of a Starbucks latte, I'm not complaining. Edit - Dabbed on like an extrait this is a wow perfume. I really love it now. I wore it one day last weekend on a day off and my friends told me I smelled great and asked what I was wearing. So, I think I can use this more than I originally thought. I just need to either dab it on or spray it on well in advance of going out, so I don't nuke everyone around me with the initial blast.

Sirene is an ode to those seductive creatures who sang so sweetly and seductively ancient sailors jumped overboard trying and swim to the island rock on which they lived, perishing on the rocks there. Odysseus (Ulysses in Roman myth) was the first ship to ever make it past them with crew intact. Warned by Circe (the sorceress), he instructed his sailors to plug their ears with wax and tie him to the mast, securely. He heard the voice of his sweet wife Penelope calling to him in their songs and screamed for them, over sobs and eyes filled with tears, to let him go...after the ship and crew passed by safely, the Sirens threw themselves into the Sea, having failed to lure any of them to their shore (and death). On first smelling this scent, I know how Odysseus felt! This scent is so very vintage smelling I was actually surprised to see it listed as a 90s perfume. It begins with not only the listed notes of orange and peach, juicy and sweet; but also carnation's strange oily scent that is also powdery and dry, and aldehydes, aldehydes aldehydes! These do as Malegria noticed fade quickly but the carnation is superb here. I have never smelled Byzance, but have Moscow Red (NZ) and this does resemble that a bit. The heart quite literally bursts forth with a stunning bouquet of flowers (I imagine myself with the different floral images swirling about my head like a cartoon character "seeing stars"!) This scent is very feminine and, on my most sensitive days, I would not wear this; but it is very nice and very old-school! Its finish is ambery and warm with flowers littering the woods. The vanilla is as powdery in the end as the carnation was in the opening, and the musk is amazingly sexy! Yes, Odysseus I know how you felt; I would want to move closer to anything that "sang" like this...but if it was on MY skin: I would be stuggling to get away from it (or it off of me) like he stuggled to be free... Sillage: Incredible! Longevity: great Overall: 4/5 This is a great perfume (after it dries) and becomes something haunting and very very compelling. This is a perfume from a by-gone age...massively sweet yet dry and still very, very feminine. I have yet to try Ma Griffe or Cabotine, but if they are like this: I am already in love! This is so many things on so many levels: sexy, flowery, warm, juicy, dry, elegant, mature (not "old") and quite beautiful. Definitely a "less is more" scent! HEAVEN in small to moderate doses...HELL if over-applied!!

I rather like this. It reminds me of Yardley's Rose (vintage one) mixed w/ Hermes Caleche, a perfume that was a signature of my 2nd grade teacher. She always smelled really good and I remember asking her what she wore, and she told me. I still remember it to this day. She was the best teacher I ever had. Anyway, when you first spray Siren it is a bit sour, like a sour peach smell, not like todays super sweet fruity smells. As it goes along it becomes a lovely rose w/ aldehydic white florals. The sour peach stays throughout, mingling w/ all the very fresh florals. You can tell this is from the 20th century because it smells vintage. If you like the smell of Yardley's Rose or their rose soap and Hermes Caleche and like the idea of them getting together and combining this is a good way to go. It is very nice. Smells more like the 70's than the 90's when it was made. Edit 8/10/23 I just picked up this little cheapie that is a beauty. The bottle is a little strange but who cares. This is just so pretty, so feminine. My husband really likes this perfume as well. A pretty peachy floral bouquet of roses, violets, peony and jasmine. Softly powdery, softly soapy. Slightly fruity. This is something I would reach for often. If you miss D&G The One Rose this is a good substitute IMO. Not a dupe but it has the same feel just a little more vintage. If you like Gucci Accenti, Yardley English Rose, Hermes Caleche and Chanel no 5 you will like Sirene as well. It is kind of different elements of all of these perfumes mixed together. Taking a little from Caleche, a little from No 5, a little from Accenti, a little from Vintage Yardley's English Rose and creating a very feminine, vintage perfume but IMO it is still wearable for today. The dry down is comforting and soft like a favorite blanket.

my, what mixed reviews this one gets. i happened upon siren as a blind buy, had i known how beautiful the bottle was, i would have bought it anyway! this was sealed in a package, a relic of some sale item unopened. i was about knocked over upon my first application which was just a dab, as this was a mini. this one has strength! a truly potent specimin, as i sniffed my wrist i was unsure how i felt, juicy lovely peach, orange, rose, peony, a list of some of my favorite notes. with.....voilet. violet, how i do love you in the wild, but not as a subpar powdery influence in my perfumes. which was barely there.. but after ten minuites of evaporation, and puzzlement, i started getting whiffs of what smelled like alternately Laura Biagotti"s Venezia...? sigh.... and what... old, majestic, powerhouse poison? what is this strange creature on my wrist that transformes itself so, every other moment?! how very strange. on my next 40 minuite drive home with my husband, we smelled a slight almost chypre-ish quality at one point, and during the entirety as long as its not over applied, siren is a dazzling, multifaceted beauty. wearing this i love to turn around, catch my own scent, and be both puzzled, and excited by it. or catch a look of puzzlement behind me.. :-) i think this is a powerful fragrance, despite its seemingly bright cast, but softly juicy. the vanilla and woods emerge after about three hours on me to spread a soft, glow around me that opens up in our humid summer night air. it seems to be a little like Mitsouko in that it decides who it loves, and who it dosn't. my husband is mad for it applied with feminine skill...it leaves a trace you want to follow. wear it if you want to be followed... i adore it!

Sharp floral? Hardly. I agree that it's floral, but this is a smooth and sweet--yet quite heady--floriental with a sweet base centered on amber-vanilla. Reminds me a little of JPG 'Classique'(1993) and GH 'Delicious' (1994) in its extreme, lush vibrancy, and one of the last of the powerhouses featuring complex, nearly day-glo florals amped up with aldehydes and subtle fruit-tones. I think if this had been released a decade earlier than it was, it could have competed with the likes of Poison, Lou Lou, and Salvador Dali for attention, but 1994... I remember well the vibe in the air of that time. Young people my age (at the time) were beginning to turn away from this sort of old-fashioned and extravagant decadence in fragrance for quieter, simpler scents veering toward minimalism. And then, with sweet gourmands and coumarin-heavy compositions released like flying monkeys across the perfume-counters at the same time (think 'Angel'), well... 'Sirene' would have been quickly out-of-fashion and only have appeal to a select, tradition-minded audience- such as what occurred to other late and yet very-beautiful releases in the grand manner like ET 'White Diamonds'. But I love Sirene despite having discovered it late. I have the original formula in the frosted glass with champagne-colored liquid, and it is one of those hidden gems that are thankfully overlooked by most vintage collectors and can still, as of this writing, be found for an affordable price. Sillage is enormous, and longevity is beyond 24 hours on my skin. The pyramid above is all wrong, btw... when I have more time, I'll try to give a more-accurate snapshot for anyone interested.

I got a small hint of poo. Almost like when you get whiffs of a dirty baby diaper and then that's all I kept smelling. I immediately washed this off. If you're wanting to try this one I'd say buy a sample first. Not a safe blind buy at all, even if you normally like the musky, powdery smells like I do. Edit: 5 days later - I love the smell on the sprayer. Which is most likely the dry down. So I decided to give this another shot. There is something SO sharp in the opening and that is where I get the 'poo' smell from. Oddly enough, I DID smell that smell again at first but it's since went away. Maybe I judged this one too quickly and scrubbed it off before it had it's fair shot to develop. That being said, it is sharp and strong. Because of that, I would still say it's not a safe blind buy. Those looking for powdery or musky smells I would think would be shocked at the power of this one. I will hold onto this for a while and give it another fair shake at another time. I think I unfairly judged it by the harsh opening note that gave me whiffs of 'poo' and didn't let that note die off to reveal the prettiness underneath. I would say spray this with a light hand or further down your body to truly appreciate it because up close to your face when a perfume is this sharp could cause headaches. It is vintage smelling in the category of scents so if you're not normally into scents like that, this most likely won't be for you. I do get whiffs of the same musk smell that is in Heaven Sent but they are not dupes. I do understand the comparisons though.

🎀This fragrance is a powerhouse but I like it. The bottle is AMAZING. The shell shaped lid is stunning and the sirene goddess figures aligned perfectly on the bottle make it one of the most intriguing in my collection. Looks like Italian art. Mystical, bewitching, charming. My juice is light lavender💜 like in the photo above. This is to be used very ,very, very sparingly. I suggest spraying it in the air after getting out if the shower or bath and walking through the soapy,🌹 rosey, powdery mist. Only a small amount is needed to feel lovely wearing it. Too much can cause a migraine. It is very feminine. I imagine a beautiful woman with a derby hat on wearing this. I can imagine royalty loving this scent its very rich and romantic 🌺smelling. It lasts for hours. The drydown takes a long time but in the end, is very clean and fresh. I like it alot. Its very well balanced. I would think ❄winter is the best time to wear this and at night. It reminds me of a make-up case filled with lots of powdery makeup.💄 Its very mature and refined. Not for young girls this is a mature smell. I am happy with the purchase 17.00 on Amazon. Very pretty when used only in light-handed moderation. This perfume is very exotic and pungent but its very soft once it settles. The only thing i do not like is the woody drydown. I think ill use this one to keep my bathroom fresh instead of wearing it. 🏵

This was a completely random purchase for me--I needed a little something to qualify for free shipping at fragrancenet, and Sirene was on clearance. I did a bit of quick research, but to be honest I just was coveting the gaudy pink bottle, which is so unlike anything else in my collection. I didn't know anything about Vicky Tiel, but apparently she invented the miniskirt, which makes compete sense. This fragrance is so fun. It opens with an almost shrill vintage blast of white floral, a kind of generic drugstore scent, but the dry down conveys this really interesting bright rose, just a little bit spicy, woody, and orangey, and very unique, to my nose. This progression makes me think of girls in the 60s, leaving the house in their school uniforms, then rolling up the waists of their skirts to turn them into miniskirts as soon as they're out of their mothers' sight! As a 50-something lady, I think it's possible that this fragrance is a little too youthful for me--but maybe not? It kind of makes me think of the way I imagine someone's favorite hippie aunt might smell, wafting into the room draped in scarves and tinkling silver jewelry. I'm not sure when or where I'll wear this one, but I like it a lot.

I was curious to try Vicky Tiel's Sirene after seeing the notes and fragrances it is compared to. On first smell, it wasn't what I was expecting. I agree with those who describe this as a soapy scent, but not just any soapy scent. Remember those decorative bath soaps you'd find when visiting an aunt or family member? They always smelled so good, but you could never actually use them - that is what Sirene smells like to me. I don't find it too sharp like I find so many other clean, soapy scents and after about ten minutes, I get a lot of violet - more so than rose even. There is a bit of peach and vanilla for sweetness, as well, and an unrelenting powderiness. I don't know how often I will wear this as it's very strong and not typically the type of fragrance I reach for, but I love how clean this smells, giving me a sense of nostalgia. I honestly haven't smelled much else like it. It definitely has classic vibe, but I still think this can be be appreciated by those who prefer modern scents, as well. I would just recommend a single spray because it can be quite overwhelming otherwise.

Great buy at TJ! The name drew me to this scent at random, was not looking for a new scent at the time.....I read the reviews in the meantime, and for amazing affordable price decided to get it. Super deal! If you are like me, rose, violets, powder and 80's feel scents, you will like/love this one :) Touch of nostalgia, vintage but not ancient type; very crisp rose, fresh floral and powdery entry. It does smell expensive and quality stuff, like being in a castle looking all elegant. Dose of maturity here, grown up; I'm in my 30's and love it! Bouquet of fresh morning roses accompanied by violets, soft vanilla hint to warm the scent up, and soft airy musk at the finish. My only complaint is that it does not last very long,intensity 2 hours maybe, likely get wafts of this scent, so I keep on reapplying. Best for cooler weather, day or night. The package is beautiful, quite fancy sirens with a pink fluid, looks very feminine. Overall, glad I purchased it, totally worth it!

Amazing perfume with complexity on my skin. It's a sillage monster and has good longevity. This smells like roses mixed with a bit of vanilla and baby powder. I smell a hint of spice. Very comforting, affordable, and attracts many compliments from men. Scent: 8/10 Sillage: 10/10 Longevity: 7/10 UPDATE 1/3/2019- I made the above review over 2 years ago. Since then, my sense of smell has become more acute and I can discern between the subtle differences in notes. All I can say about this perfume now is that it's very simple. While the silage is still powerful, it is just one massive linear smelling baby powder. The vanilla smell that I had previously smelled due to my own naive nose, doesn't exist- I had mistaken the coziness provided by the baby powder as a vanillic note. While it's not a bad fragrance, it's definitely nothing complex, sophisticated, or sensual. Below are my updated ratings from 2019. Scent: 5/10 Sillage: 10/10 Longevity: 7/10 (10-12 hours)

Nicely surprised, this is quite soft, light, and has the same type of opening as Cabotine edt by Gres, the regular version in the green bottle. Floral, green, powdery. My husband noticed it right away, even though I had applied 4 sprays approximately 2 hours ago, therefore, it is of decent quality. My only wish is that I had hoped I could perceive some violet in it, but I do not. The Orange comes in within 20 minutes or so, and that is the prominent note to my nose. It smells sweet at the top, something I was concerned about, but it is dry-sweet, if you can imagine, smells "pink" and not sugary in any way. I think this will be good on me in Springtime with a cute dress and slingback shoes. EDIT: I am reaching for this more and more, its powdery rose and orange sweetness is perfect on dark gloomy Fall days, we have had snow early, and this perfume cheers me up with hopes of Springtime...

After reading all the positive reviews, I purchased a bottle from perfumania and received it today. This is an intense, in your face juice, a bit overwhelming. I get a lot of Geranium and Wood. I dunno what to make of this one. If I wear it, I may just spray the back of one leg. The good news is that it was really inexpensive $12.99 on clearance. The bottle is gorgeous, very Lalique-esq for sure! If my dear late grandma Aurora was still here, she would have loved everything about this perfume. She lived in Michigan where it snows and this would be great for colder weather. I also get the Dove soap reference, too! Update 4/7/2016 - I've been wearing this during cooler days and nights and I gotta say, it's fantastic. The Ylang-ylang, Rose, Violet, and Peach come through nicely with a sweet floral powdery dry down. Love it!!

I bought this as a blind buy for 13.99. I love roses and the reviews are so good I took a shot. At first I admit to being disappointed, it smelled like a powdery dated frag. I loved the bottle so I figured I'd keep it for the pretty factor. Last night I decided to give another try, so I spritzed on my wrists and rubbed together...and WOW the lovely roses came through the powder. I'm so glad I tried this one again, the drydown is sweet but not too cloying, a gentle rose. Like previous reviewers have said, use a prudent hand as this lovely pink juice is very long lasting with a strong sillage in my experience. It has been 12 hours since I spritzed my wrists and I can still smell it now. In spite of the budget price, this juice could easily hold up against the more expensive.

Sweet Mother this is a POWERHOUSE! Sorry for the all caps but I felt it was necessary. One spray is all that is needed. And what is most surprising is the fact that this smells so good for such a low price. It was a blind buy. To sum it up it is simple, soft, warm, feminine, slight powder and IMHO timeless. It's not the youthful Ariana Grande scents, or modern but it does not smell dated in my opinion either. And for the cost you get a real bang for your buck. If pink had a smell this is it. It fits the juice within. Don't go crazy with the spraying on this one. It's a spray and walk through the mist kind of fragrance. And it really truly smells GOOD~

Babblecat’s review nails this. I too bought solely for the gaudy pink bottle and the need for one more item for free shipping. I’d never heard of Vicky Tiel. I don’t recall exactly what I paid for this but I know for sure it was inexpensive. I’m so pleasantly surprised. Initial spray is a bit of a slap in the nostrils but that quickly dissipates and gives a bright fresh edge to a very pretty and feminine scent. It’s definitely rosy but without screaming I’M A FLOWER!!!! at you. This is a very easy to wear and very “pink” fragrance if that makes sense. I feel like it may be too youthful for me but I’m cool with breaking that particular law.

I have the earlier golden cologne, not the pink bottle, and find this very nice. I completely agree with mwater1 when she says the opening is rough. It might be described as a synthetic blast as I cannot pinpoint the culprit. A hint of rose peeks through and continues to develop well through the wearing. It resists the trap of becoming another cloying rose scent, or something meant for a child. I have the new version of the lotion, and it is also lovely. Projection and longevity are both good. I can think of nothing that compares to this, but there are many things I have never smelled. Definitely floral, but not in your face.
