San Ysidro Drive

Guy’s, I love it. Listen is the price tag ridiculous? Off course it is but you could say that about so many niche fragrances on the market and for me this collection falls into the niche category. These are not your normal run of the mill celebrity fragrances. They (the two I purchased anyway) smell ‘rich’, as silly and vague as that description sounds. I’ve only worn this once to work so far and its performance is beast mode. I got so many compliments and the projection was just insane, I could actually feel the scent cloud/trail following me as I moved. Now, I am one of those people who wear fragrance for ME not for others, but I have to say the compliments felt pretty good. The notes here feel...a little off. I don’t have the most advanced nose when it comes to perfumery, I’m no Jeremy Fragrance (and I thank God for that every day, ICK!) I get a slight hint of oud on the initial spray but it’s very subtle and fades rather quickly. The rose sticks around but it’s kind of a dirty rose, slightly mossy and wet smelling which I love. There is also some vanilla here which lingers on the dry down and adds a little bit of sweetness. Even though it’s not listed there is also some leather which I get the occasional whiff off. Thankfully the jasmine is barely detectable, which is lucky seeing as its not my favourite floral. The key player, the quarterback if you will, is the saffron which is so well blended that it literally smells like heaven, that’s it, that’s my description and I’m sticking to it. LOL If I had to compare this to something else so as to give you a point of reference I could say this; if MFK’s Baccarat Rouge 540 had a torrid love affair with Tom Ford’s Ombre Leather then this fragrance would be the b****** love child that both perfumes would spend an exorbitant amount of money on legal fees to gain weekend visitation rights. if you can afford it, go for it, if you can't walk away, no harm no foul.

I got the flight from the website and I honestly love ALL of the perfumes, this one included. The least favorite of the bunch is 21.50 Reverie. It's just OK. In regards to this particular fragrance though, it's been said "Rose with oud, a bit overplayed so if you already have something like that don't bother getting this." DISAGREE. I have the Rose Oud by Kayali and that doesn't even come close to the sexiness, longevity, depth, dimension, intrigue that San Ysidro Drive gives off. As most of Kayali fragrances they last a good hour. I have San Ysidro on my hand for the last 4 and it still smells divine. I have to go close to the skin to smell it, but its there, detectible and delightful. The rose has a stunning matureness (in a great way) with the jasmine and amber to round it out. Some rose fragrances can have this jammy or synthetic rose feel. Nope, this one is perfection. Victoria, you got a new fan here. Since they came out with their travel sizes, I will be ordering one of this once it comes back in stock. At this time I could only indulge in one full size bottle so I went with Portofino '97.

If you're looking for a dupe, I agree that Miller Harris Scherzo is very close. However, I have been testing them both and I definitely identify some differences. Ultimately, I prefer San Ysidro Drive. Here's why: Scherzo is quite sweet, thanks to a sugar-heavy tangerine accord, and the juicy rose note is rather loud and prominent, with a noticeable sharpness . The presence of oud is mostly drowned out. This is a rose oud perfume for the bubbly college freshman looking for an "edgy" date night scent. San Ysidro Drive is also a fruity rose-oud fragrance, but I find it much more pleasing to wear. It is not obnoxious at all. The opening is fruity but not very sweet. The rose/jasmine combo is classy and refined. The oud note really sings. It's soft and almost smoky, wrapped in the perfect amount of rose which lingers after the drydown. She is that boss bitch, who wears a fragrance for herself, never to impress others.

I am not typically a fan of rose in perfumes, but here it really takes a back seat and allows the passionfruit to shine. The passionfruit is undoubtedly the star of the show. It's bright, tart, and incredibly memorable. I've smelled thousands of fragrances over the years and can honestly say I've never smelled anything quite like this one. That said, I don't usually gravitate towards oud or rose fragrances, so that may be part of the reason it feels so unique to me. I am so glad this baby is finally mine! I'd wanted it for quite a while and was gradually running out of reasons not to buy it. After all, why wouldn't I buy something that makes me happy? So eventually I caved and ordered a bottle. Thankfully, it did not disappoint. In fact, I now wish I'd gone for the 100ml bottle instead of the 50ml.

I truly love this fragrance. I don’t like saffron as a scent, but this just grounds the fruity brightness and kind of gives this a skin like quality. On my skin, that passionfruit note lasted ALL DAY, it came off like a citrus almost sweet note. But wasn’t overpowering. It was extremely hot today and when I left work I could still get indications and it smelled fruity and clean. Kind of like warm laundry. I was walking outside amongst the commuters and thought “someone smells amazing”. Once I realized it was me I knew I needed to review this on here. That being said, it’s expensive. While I like it I couldn’t ask someone to pay this price. Getting a sample set is enough!

My favorite rose oud combo,and I have them a lot. I just love this one. The passionfruit maks it fresh and juicy. I do not get any smokiness or powder, just a clean juicy rose oud with a hint of saffron. To my nose this could be a mix of Mugler Angel nova and Acqua di parma Oud edp. Very nice blended and smooth. It fits all seasons and both genders. Greit projection and longivety. Strong but not headache inducing, although I wouldn't spray it moe than two-three spray. My reviews are all for original bottles not samples.

I did not expect to love this.. but its addictive & sexy. The passionfruit brightens this rose oud scent profile which I can see why they made the bottle yellow. To me, this is versatile --can be dressed up or down/day to night scent. I usually don't enjoy leather scents, but it's so subtle in this. It has an ambery feel that's perfect for fall wear. Projection is loud..I've had compliments every time I wear this.

After sampling all 3 of Victoria's fragrances this one is my absolute favorite. I cant stop smelling it and I usually hate oud. After that initial oud burst when you first spray it quietens down to a lovely ambery slighty fruity scent. It reminds me of a perfume my mom wore in the mid 1980s just really well rounded classy smelling. Its a bit pricey but I'm enjoying it so much I feel I need to have a 100ml bottle.

Actually I love and I appreciate the VB parfum line .Every single fragrance has his on caractere, everyone it's beautiful and worth the money because you can feel the quality of the Ingredients in her fragrances and this one to no exception, beautiful oud rose ♥️ with hint of tropical something and because of this something the fragrance becomes different from other oud/rose parfums

Lovely smooth rose and oud. Very classy. I’d consider this perfectly appropriate for daytime wear (probably for all seasons I think) unlike the other rose oud in my collection, MFK Oud Satin Mood which is deeper, sexier, and richer and definitely a “winter night” fragrance. The oud in San Ysidro Drive gives the rose a bit of a boost and almost has a leathery quality to it.

Being a male I really wanted to love the one everyone was saying to be more masculine (Suite 302) or the one that is becoming more popular (Portofino 97), but, I'm obsessed with San Isidro Drive, maybe I I don't know anything about perfumes, but I simply can't help it...this is the one I'm going to buy.

Incredible projection and hypnotic smell that attracts attention and compliments. The oud is very discreet the amber not overwhelming it has a lovely fruity powdery smell. Very well balance ingredients. Great for this fall.

So so so beautiful long-lasting strong fragrance. It is between oud satin mood and velvet rose jo malone with a hint of freshness this tropical freshness! On dry down it's creamy and sweet 😋

To me, this one is the best out of the 3. It is more feminine than masculine. It definitely smells sophisticated. The projection is wow. When layered with Portofino 97, it is just divine.

Probably the most masculine rose fragrance I’ve smell, is sexy and grown up but not boring or uptight. Some smokiness and powdery for complexity but very strong in the saffron and oud.

Sex in a bottle! More masculine leaning and a unique composition. Opening is pretty predominantly tartness of the passionfruit balanced with a softer saffron and a beautiful oud. Wow!

When I first tried this it was pure sexy fiith with a slightly medicinal edge. After an hour it dries down to a beautiful comforting rose/oud. Gorgeous!

This is lovely! Reminds me a lot of Miller Harris Scherzo. Powdery, rosy, fruity, chocolatey oud in a way that’s refined and edible at the same time

Well you definitely get rose and oud! Oud is not something that I usually go for, so I'm not surprised that I am not a huge fan. It smells just like every other rose and oud fragrance I've smelled. Nothing special or unique. It is my second favorite fragrance out of the 3 VB fragrances. Edit: So after wearing a few times, this fragrance started to grow on me more. The oud is pretty intense for the first hour or so, but then dies down to a pleasant rose. If the oud stuck around longer, I wouldn't like it as much. I find that the dry down smells very similar to the Trudon Tuileries candle, which is something I have been looking for, which makes me laugh since my initial thoughts on the fragrance were too rushed & negative, I should have waited to get the true scent. Also, I got a compliment on it from my boyfriend! He is not big into perfumes but when he makes a comment, that's how I know it must be pretty good.

I like it and I'll wear it, but it's just another rose and oud fragrance. It's nice, but not original or unique. I get a hint of the passion fruit, but just barely. The rose and oud dominate here. My biggest issue is the marketing. There is a small blurb with each fragrance explaining the inspiration. The San Ysidro Drive blurb mentions peony and vanilla, along with the other notes. I don't know if that was a previous version of this scent, but it's needlessly confusing to mention two notes that don't appear to be in the fragrance. I do not smell either in the scent itself. It just seems like a text error, but I kind of wish this scent had peony and vanilla.

Sweetened rose and vanilla. There’s a tart, brightness in the opening. It smells rich yet sunny and warm. By the mid, I get the dry, almost leathery feel of saffron and an oud that doesn’t overpower. I’d imagine this scent on women shopping in the expensive areas of Miami. It smells niche in a familiar way due to the rose-oud combo. I’ve smelled all three original releases so far. I think this one gives MFK, Portofino is more Byredo, and Room 302 evokes Tom Ford.

Managed to find a pack of those peel off scent strips for these new Vicky B perfumes on eBay for about £10. Out of all three I like this one the most. However... It’s a rose oud, and not a hugely original one at that. Reminds me of Scherzo by Miller Harris. Not sure if some of the “smells like” selections have been done for trolling purposes, this doesn’t smell like Lynx/Axe to me at all.

Nothing special. Instantly recognized the saffron and rose combo. I would say it is juicy at the opening but that quickly dissipates. It’s definitely a strong perfume and lasts a while and the dry down is oudy on the creamy side. It’s a good perfume, but again this has been done over and over.

I like it, but in the opening it's a bit too feminine for me. It reminds me a bit of Maison Martin Margiela's Lazy Sunday Morning in the opening. After about 2 hours, however, it becomes a skin scent, and I get a chocolate note. Not my favorite of the VB range, but not my least favorite.

Very strong rose oud combination. A bit smoky, yet feminine enough I keep coming back to it. The opening is very dry, but as the rose develops, it creates a beautiful complex cloud. Lasts for about 3-4 hours, it’s not headache inducing.

Got my nose on this and couldn't quite figure out why it smelled so familiar initially. Then realized it reminded me a lot of Miller Harris Scherzo but not as sweet. A nice fragrance but don't feel the need to have both.

Rose & oud scent profile with white florals and a dash of sweetness. Very good performance, however, I passed due to redundancy in my collection. Not the best out there, but far from the worst!

Well well well... this one reminded me of a lot of oriental perfume, it's strong though and it last for sure! It's not worth the price but still smells good .

Yeah not bad but I’ve smelled this almost exactly in many many Arabic oils that cost a fraction of the price and perform better.

It is a beautiful fragrance for cold dry days - it is like Louis Vuitton Ombre Nomade layered with Sable de Roses. Two in One.

San Ysidro smells like a milder version of Dior's Old Ispaphan.

Who knew Oud was still a thing. Having survived the Oud invasion during 2010-16, I was more than happy to see it go. And then came Victoria. Hey, guys, look what I found! By the description (not the notes) it sounds like a bright, free, cheerful type of scent. Passionfruit, peony, ocean air, California, etc. Instead you get Oud. Lots of it. And it doesn’t go away. Rose is the second note. You get a whiff of jasmine and saffron here and there. I have to say that it gets slightly better after 15 min or so, when a short lived tropical note appear. But it doesn’t evolve, it stays forever on the monotonous Oud phase which after a while starts to smell like a wet dog. All in all I have to say that if you enjoy Oud then go for it. A blind buy? No. Definitely try to get a sample first.

What in the world are some of those things doing in the 'smell similar' section?? Just because the bottle is YELLOW??? Really? Anyway, this is a light rose oud, with a pinch of saffron, it's fine, it's a fairly light airy interpretation, the oud has a kind of red wine facet to me.. if you like rose ouds, here's yet another. The banana yellow bottle does not suit the fragrance at all.

This really smells almost exactly like Scherzo by Miller Harris, but Scherzo is more refined and a tiny bit sweeter.

It's like we've been here before. The scent combination – rose and oud, with a hint of something zesty – just doesn't bring anything new to the table. I really can't pinpoint what that zesty note is. What had me excited was the bright yellow bottle, promising a whiff of sunny California, but it just didn't deliver. I was really hoping for a burst of passion fruit, but it was nowhere to be found. In my opinion, 'Portofino' 97 still holds the top spot, closely followed by 'Suite 302'.

Passionfruit and jasmine with a light oud base, this has a sickly over-ripe scent that doesn't work with my skin chemistry - I think this would need a beach, hot weather and cocktails to make it work but it's not for me.

When I first sprayed this I was whacked in the face at full force with Oud. I thought ‘don’t worry, the passionfruit, the rose, the jasmine, they will all come along in a minute’. But they didn’t. Seven hours after that first spray I’m stuck with a faint woody scent which, whilst not unpleasant, isn’t what I was promised. Lots of reviews say it’s a feminine fragrance, it’s zesty, it’s rose but to me it’s just wood. I’m now worried that my abilities to smell have been compromised as my experience feels like a total outlier. It has lasted a decent while though.

I love Victoria Beckham's line of fragrances, except for this one. Considering the notes, some of which are my favorites, I would think that I would really enjoy this one, but I really don't. I guess it goes to show you how much one or two different notes can drastically change a scent. PS - I'm really impressed with the level of knowledge that you all have regarding levels of notes, brands, drying down, etc. I really don't know much, just the basics., I could stay on this site all day long!

I am automatically turned off by any rose-oud combo as it has been made and remade into countless varieties, and there hasn’t been any update or fresh take on it. And then comes Victoria Beckham’s SYD... the ingredients are okay in theory but really come into play in reality. The passionfruit brightens up the beginning and does not make if feel too formal or velvety. The jasmine starts to show up alongside the passionfruit, rose and oud. I do get a bit of orange marmalade mixed with minimal traces of patchouli. Then comes the chocolate phase. The passionfruit fades away peacefully, followed by half of the jasmine. The other half of the jasmine stays to accompany the amber, saffron and rose-oud. This is the poshest phase of the fragrance. Sillage and longevity are both good. Bravo Victoria. You ventured into this overused territory of rose-oud fragrances and came out a winner, even to my middle eastern background and sensibilities.

Out of the three Victoria Beckham fragrances I’ve tried, this is the one I was least impressed by, however, that’s not to say that I dislike it. If I were to read the notes, I’d think this one would be my favorite. This is a very feminine fragrance, but it lacks a WOW factor like her two counterparts. It’s pretty, and once again, reminds me of an office scent. I get a clean shampoo vibe from this as well, but in the best way possible. If someone were to wear this I wouldn’t be wowed, but I’d think they smelled pleasant and clean. Fresh, sweet, shampoo feel, but lacking a wow factor. This sounds weird but it reminds me of the store Zara with pink letters LOL. I think it’s nice but it’s missing something for me. It’s a scent you throw on when you want others to appreciate you wearing something pleasant but you don’t care to wow them or garner compliments.

San Ysidro Drive is an interesting scent that smells remarkably different from what one might expect with the listed notes. I found it distinctive enough to keep sampling my wrist, ...but ultimately too sharply pungent in its drydown to actually want to wear. The very opening was pleasantly fruity-sweet, but unremarkable, ...but soon the rose and oud takes over, and while the rose remains dominant, SYD is an intriguing oddball perfume. But eventually the rose fades back and the base notes take over. They are listed as agarwood (real oud?) and black amber, ...but the actual smell is much more like shrilly acrid patchouli crossed with tomato leaf. ...but there is also a hint of oud's blue cheese and a dark ambery molasses too, ...so maybe the listed notes aren't entirely ersatz.

Opening is very strong, herbal and bitter, like an Italian pharmacy or digestive bitters. Then the scent develops into very elegant, still biter but warmer. After short few hours however it becomes sweet and warm, nothing unusual, just lots of amber - I was told I smelled like a Christmas cake 😂 which for me is not my desired scent. Just after I was going to give up on this fragrance, I sprayed it on my clothes instead of my skin and eureka! The scent remained bitter yet warm, I could smell some lemon ice tea to be honest. It also reminded me a bit of Intuition by Estée Lauder and Indian Summer by Priscilla Presley from my teenage years. Overall - I like it on my clothes but not on my skin and to me it’s not worth its price

Very much like Sardonyx Fire and I love both, the oud seems rounder and more prominent, blends in very smoothly. This one is my favourite out of three, very warm and feminine, sexy. Similar to Scherzo too, with my vague memories. If you enjoy polished oud and rose, you will like this, it is different enough from all the Oud Bouquet or Velvet Rose/Satin Mood vibes - more sophisticated, lighter, western. You can sample Sardonyx Fire in most Other Stories/H&M stores - if you like it then this is VERY similar. I only have a sample of this but I will try to mix my Sardonyx Fire with Gucci Intense Oud, it might be a good combo.

I am not a lover of Oud, though I do appreciate it when blended well. I’ll cut to the chase- this performed so well, as an ever-so-slightly sweet oud for me. There was no alteration in scent profile for me, at any point of wearing this. However, this is sexy, voluptuous, and intoxicating. I imagine a gorgeous woman walking up with a plate of wood (oud), placing it in front of me on a table, with a mischievous smile, then seductively traipsing away. I love this scent, unexpectedly. Longevity is about 7 hours on me, but so beautiful when it’s there. If you’re hoping to captivate an audience, this is The One.

I bought the sample set and this is the only one I can stand. The others don’t work on my skin. Suite 302 smells like TF White patchouli with added leather. Portofino 97 smells like bal d’afrique and this smells like something I’ve smelled before with an oud touch. This is the best from the collection in my opinion. Long lasting. I would wear it.I did buy a bottle. I got a code with my sample set for 30 dollars off. That I find is correct from VB. UPDATE: I bought Suite 302 as well and I love it!

San Ysidro Drive by Victoria Beckham Beauty 1/5 First scent is very fruity and then settles into the classic rose oud profile. Nothing special to my nose. It is very familiar to other perfumes. It becomes a skin scent within five minutes. Completely gone within an hour. Received a set of peel off tester samples for free of the three Victoria Beckham fragrances. I was hoping for the small sample sprays but not my luck.

Wow this is stunning and pretty unique! I feel like the tropical rose is an uncommon and beautiful concept. I very much get an aquatic ocean vibe from this although it’s grounded and warm. The light floral nature quickly evolves into an oud scent that reminds me of burning wood by the sea. Perhaps a woman wearing rose and vanilla is in a cashmere shawl by this bonfire as her masculine lover holds her and sways.

A fruity, rosy, oud fragrance that’s subtle and pleasant to wear. The opening is fruity but not too sweet. The oud is slightly smoky, wrapped in just the right amount of rose. It lasts about 4–5 hours on me, but smells beautiful the whole time. This is a scent for a woman with character — one who wears perfume for herself, not to impress others.

Just another rose & oud scent, it’s nice but to me there’s so many better and or same smelling combos of those two notes that this really adds nothing to the mix. However if you’re new to rose and oud then this might hit the spot but for me it was just okay, nothing special.
