Amber Romance

First off, I didn’t even smell cherry. I was so shocked to learn that there is a cherry note in here and no coconut note listed (which appeared in the dry down). The initial spray smelled like nothing. For real. It just smelled faintly soapy/ozonous. I checked back the name and the back of the bottle. Huh. Nothing that might’ve indicated what I’ve smelled so far. Confused, I sprayed not once, twice, but thrice! Onto my hand again, then left it alone for 20 seconds. I sniffed and what wafted was a deep, resinous and slightly woody/smoky scent. Putting my nose closer to my hand, now I can detect notes of musk, black soap and just the tiniest hint of resinous sweetness (not vanilla). It was absolutely gorgeous and warm and sensual. The scent of a woman coming out of the shower, steam still rising from her damp skin. She puts on an amber scented body oil. A few minutes later, vanilla started to emerge. It lingers on its own for a bit, only to set the stage for coconut. And then strangely, after some while, I could smell orchid. At this point the perfume lost all of its initial charm, and instead became fully vanilla, coconut and orchid. The dry down smells like your average “girly” body mists/perfume out there, just not as cloying or strong. It is creamy, lactonic even, and smells like it might taste like sugar-less whip cream. At first it might lean unisex but the dry down is very feminine, completely devoid of the top notes. I read the reviews on the older bottle of Amber Romance, and it seems more true-to-scent than the reviews here

Mmm so delicious, it’s a perfect girl next door scent. It’s sexy, sweet, lovable. My boyfriend smelled me and loved it and I went to see my best friend and him and his dad said I smelled really good. It’s a sweet amber vanilla those are the main scents I get. It’s a bit alcoholic on first spray and then get a hit of sour fruit, if I didn’t know it was supposed to be cherry I probably wouldn’t say it was. Just generic girl fruit. But the dry down is magic. It makes me feel like a kid again somehow, I get a very lactonic vanilla and the sexiest amber ever. It’s not a mature amber, this is very much juvenile but I love it for that. It’s soo pretty omg I really don’t have words to describe it but it’s kinda plasticky sweet vanilla like a new doll with a very sexy undertone I love it. My boyfriend picked up om sweet fruit and light florals. My best friend said it smelled nostalgic but he couldn’t remember why. This just smells phenomenal on me, I got 3 compliments in less than 30 minutes. I’m obsessed. I love most of the vs “signature” scents but this one goes best with my chemistry. It does kind of smell like opening a new plastic toy but sexy. Reminds me a little of the perfume called “cherry vanilla” it’s so pretty and reminds me of my childhood. It most definitely is gourmand but with a musk and amber base. I can’t say enough good things about this it’s just so perfect to me I’m so happy I decided to spray it again. It’s very powdery and sweet like vanilla baby powder with fruit but sexyyyy

I'm wearing this in the original formulation and original bottle, see the bottle of "Phytoderm Vanilla Kiss" it's almost an exact copy. I found an old set of 3 VS body mists and the nostalgia hit hard when I sprayed on Amber Romance. I've never smelt the EDP version or the new forumalation in the round bottle, so I can't compare them. However my vintage bottle smells divine. I can't believe there's no amber note listed here as the amber is definitely what stands out and it's called Amber Romance not "vanilla custard romance." Disappointed if they messed up this formula. It's perfect for the middle of winter here and lounging around on the couch, maybe going for a stroll to grab a coffee, layering with absolutely anything sweet and cozy. This morning I woke up and layered it with Lush's Snowcake shower gel and I keep getting wifts of cozy amber, vanilla, plus the deliciousness of the shower gel I washed my hands with. Last night I layered it with Black Opium and gave it the sweetness it was missing. I'd be constantly spraying this on my shirt however this is possibly the last original bottle in existence. Amber always warms my heart and soul, just like the amber stone/resin jewellery I love wearing in winter. It's definitely sweet and a winter only fragrance for me so I'm going to enjoy this nostalgic find. I completely agree with the review below that describes it as "exactly like a warm autumn sunset." 🍂 🌇

The amber in this is what I'm a sucker for! Its sweet, creamy, a bit lactonic but it still has that edge not many amber fragrances are able to pull off, I love this fragrance mist so much it is the first one I've ever actually finished, I don't know who was the perfumer behind this but they did a fantastic job with making it an all-around scent, not to mention I get compliments on it all the time and many prefer this fragrance mist over the high class perfumes I've splurged on, the saying simpler is better really comes into play with some Victoria secret fragrances, love that for them. The scent is damn near long lasting I only have to respritz around three times per day which is rare for some body mists that require 8 re-sprays, *cough* bath and body works *cough*, 9/10

I initially smelled this and fell in love with it, but I settled for another one of VS body mists. However I found myself running back to the store a week or two later just to get this one. I love this body mist. Upon spraying it, I can immediately smell the amber. It's exactly like a warm autumn sunset. It's basically amber and a bit of vanilla, not as sweet as you'd think, but it is very warm and cozy. The listed notes are wrong because I don't get any cherry or custard from it and also the amber is missing! The name is literally "Amber Romance"?? I do notice the woody notes after a while, though. I think this would be an excellent choice if you want to layer it with an amber perfume.

I got the 2022 version. The amber in this is really nice. Very fitting for fall. There is a definite sugar note as well that meshes well with it. When I first spray it, I do smell cherries. After the dry down (10-15 minutes), it does go away and leaves a sweet/sugary amber scent that you will LOVE! This is the scent I'd wear in the workplace if I want a gourmand but nothing too overpowering. I honestly feel you could wear this anywhere. It's a strong scent. I feel if it's layered with the matching lotion, it'd last longer. UPDATE: I just got an older 2020-21 bottle and this one has WAYYY more cherry in it. The cherry definitely lasts longer in this version.

Out of the entire mist collection, Amber Romance remains my absolutely favorite. I have been wearing it constantly this week - I just can't get enough of it. Amber is the most prominent, but I definitely pick up a cherry nuance. It blends so beautifully with the custard note, making it slightly gourmand. As it's a body mist, it does have soft projection and okay performance. Since Revlon's Fire & Ice is almost 100% identical, I layer the two together. I also layer with Sweet Essentials Amber Romance perfume oil to improve longevity and projection. I honestly wish Victoria's Secret would just release edp concentrations of the mist collection.

I never knew I was gonna love this perfume this much! It smells so good and very romantic of course. The sour cherry note does really spices up the scent and vanilla makes it very sweet. If you finding something to layer with this I suggest layering with Midnight Fantasy by Brittney Spears: It a sour cherry and vanilla note but also some plum and raspberries which makes it very berryfull. Forbidden Cherry by Victoria Secret: It has a black cherry note and sugar and orchid vanilla which makes it sugary. I do think these three together is so good and I would most definitely use it on a date or near a crush.

Well... Let's just say that I changed my mind on this. This is subtle, great and very deep for the price you pay. I have the lotion of this. It lasts for a fair amount of time, I'd say 4ish hours. I literally received a compliment on the way I smell from a man who is very hard to please. I've worn like... Four different expensive perfumes around him. THIS ONE, was the one he liked most. Men are weird nowadays! But I cannot disagree with him, this is indeed a very sensual smell. Do they put pheromones in this stuff or what?!

I have been wanting this for so long and I am so happy to have finally gotten this. It is much more coconut than I remember when testing in stores but I still beautiful none the less. I love it but I wish I have it in an EDP just so it lasted longer. Great scent from Victoria Secret, one of my favourites at the moment and I think you can wear year round. Great for a scent when you just want to top up on something since it can go with any perfume as it goes away quite quickly

I searched the entire Internet to find the pyramid - only here they indicate the cherry, even the official VS did not indicate it. So do I can’t find cherry in it. It smells like vanilla cream to me, but not super-edible, more perfume-like. Quite persistent, suitable for aromatizing bed linen, at home, a wardrobe with clothes :) I have it every in my home) As well as body spray it is gorgeous! Not a cheap scent, everyone at home liked it more than Olympea intense

Auntie scent. RIch auntie. If you know those aunties give me their number cuz I might eat them LOL Now, this ones definitely a more mature vibe but hear me out, I could still use this. It's this beautiful custard smell and I can smell the beautiful hint of sour cherries along with the deep sandalwood and vanilla. I like how this isn't too sweet, I have a feeling it would ruin the vibe. It's definitely meant for autumn, warm yet elegant. 10/10 really yummy

This is the only VS body that I really like. Love the cherry paired with amber and custard. Yummy 🥰 I'm glad it's not too strong because gourmand perfumes can give me headaches. I'm getting proper 2000s vibes, I can imagine Adriana La Cerva from the Sopranos wearing this. I get a lot of compliments from men when I wear this. Amber seems to agree with my skin chemistry. And yes the body lotion is gorgeous, also perfect for layering with other perfumes

okay, I usually HATEEE victorias secret body mists but this is LOVE! İt's a nostalgic and unique scent, definitely appealing to my tastebuds. it's not for everyone and thats totally understandable because its not as "fancy" as the other mists out there but we really need an edp for this one :) its warm, spicy but oh be careful DEFINITELY NOT for the day or warm days because it would get absoloutely cloying.

Such a classic! Surprisingly rich and sophisticated for a body mist, but definitely young and flirty. It is a beautiful blend, easy on the nose and it isn't suffocatingly sweet. Amazing for nightime. Recently all of my perfumes have been giving me nausea, not only because they're strong, but also because the notes feel synthetic and heavy. Now this... this little jewel here has been my savior.

Ohhh this one is so good, first time i put it on when i walked to my class i could literally hear ppl next to me and behind me inhale and "mmm" and i also got so many complements ,i thought it was kinda common but most ppl said they never smelled it on anyone expect me so...It feels like a sunset beach date with a guy you never thought you could get LOL

This smells good to me. I don't get any cherry though. It kinda has a sugarry maple smell to me like in maple syrup or maple breakfast sausage. This has a warm, inviting, and sweet smell. I love the smell. I have to complain though that I ordered this online, and the bottle arrived leaking. So maybe buy this one in the store, and don't be lazy LOL.

One of my favorite VS mists of all time, I love this for adding some ambery vanilla sweetness in colder weather. My nose has never picked up on any fruitiness in this, I had to do a double take when I read the notes on here... but I’m glad it translates as just ambery on me, I have enough fruity mists and that’s not what I bought this for.

Its a great perfume overall. However the notes displayed on Fragrantica I disagree with. There is no Cherry note or custard note to me- and the notes here look confusing. To me this perfume is a perfect sweet sugary amber perfume that is great on its own or even just to wear with the lotion. Pairs well with SDJ 76 or Tease Creme Cloud.

I wasn't a huge fan of this when I first purchased this blindly but it's definitely grown on me now. Very sweet and cozy smelling, I use it as a bedtime scent. It's on the lighter side so need to spray quite a bit (but I found some of the other new VS body mists to be even lighter).

My second favorite after Bare Vanilla✨ Sexy, sweet, and inviting amber with an unexpectedly good longevity for a VS mist. It’s good that the cherry note is well blended and almost invisible as it doesn’t empower the vanilla. Safe to blind buy, definitely recommended♥️

My favorite body mist. It lasts a long time on the skin and I like to combine it with the body lotion from the same line. I can't even describe how you feel when you apply it. The perfect fragrance for a date. I wish there was a perfume like that.

I find the smell pleasant enough. My mom wore this all the time and it reminds me of her. I personally use this to keep mosquitoes away from me in the summer time. Works wonders against the mosquitos!

Beautiful scent wish they would turn all of their fragrance mists into edp instead of their boring "bombshell" trash they would make money because the mists always smell 10/10

A sugary, warm scent. I was a bit conflicted at first but as it settles on my skin it is a lovely scent. Love the notes of cherry as well. Fall must-have!

This one & Coconut Passion by VS are my favourite bodysprays ever!! I love to combine them with so many other fragrances. Will always repurchase. 🥥🌴

It has the smell of sweet and toasted caramel that elevates any layering of perfume. Love it!!

It's pretty. A very sweet toothache-custard scent, good for layering with gourmands.

This mist reminds me of old lipstick smell It's so nostalgic for me

I only got this like a few days ago and im also sick so my description might not be very accurate. I was expecting to dislike this because some reviews say it smells like soap or like woods, and i dislike woody and soapy scents. Weirdly, this one is one of my favs now. To me its more fruity, not gourmand. The first whiff of this reminded me of something, and for some reason it reminded me of those sweet clear chicken lollipops, but if you would eat the amber colored one (most people might have no idea what those lollipops are but anyways💀💀) (not real chicken btw, sweets!! A lollipop!! 💀) Its not overly sweet for sure, to me its kinda more sour. A very nice blend of sweet and sour scents. I think it smells the most like sour cherry? But when i sprayed it on myself it smelled also like peach which is weird cuz theres no such note lmao. Since Love Spell is also a mist which has cherry and peach notes, i can tell that i dislike Love Spell cuz it smells like some sweet medicine or vitamins idk, Amber Romance is much better and more mature. Tho my bf said that he gets some pie notes in this or smthing so we both agreed that it kinda smells like if you would eat a pumpkin pie with cherries and some other berries like cranberries inside during autumn💀 might sound like a weird description lol. Anyways, i like this one! (My fav is velvet petals, just so u know, if u like velvet petals u might like this)

I so badly want to like it more, but I just don’t find myself reaching for this one very much. I prefer fresh, floral, fruity scents. I still do like Warm, sweet, and vanilla scents, however, they can give me headaches. Amber romance is very musty unfortunately. I’ve heard that they have also reformulated Amber romance recently. The old one being more sweet and vanilla, the new one being more musky and having a sandalwood note. When I smell Amber romance, I can smell Amber, cherry, custard, and sandalwood. I can’t put my finger on it, but something honestly reminds me of leather or ‘new car scent’ about this one. I wouldn’t say this is strictly an autumn/winter scent, as it also reminds me of being on a beach during summertime and watching a sunset. I don’t hate Amber romance and I also don’t have just bad things to say about this one, as it’s really sexy and perfumey, giving a rich vibe. There’s just something about amber romance I can’t get behind. It’s too musty? On bad days It reminds me of old charity shop clothing that hasn’t been washed. On good days, it smells like hairspray (in a good way) and vanilla custard. I get that it’s a dated scent, having it been released way back in the 90s, but if only it had been more sweeter, I’d probably appreciate this scent more

I got this body mist about a week ago and have been wearing it every day since. I do get the cherry at first spray, not a fresh cherry more like a cherry compote or a cherry pie filling because I detect a lot of suggar behind this note. After the first cherry impression the custard kicks in strong on my skin, the sugary vanilla custard. To be honest when I saw vanilla being one of the dominant notes I was expecting a darker vanilla bean scent, this gives off more of a bakery artificial vanilla to me. After that I can detect a little bit of the amber note, little bit of the darkness I was expecting but nothing to dominant as I was hoping for. Over all I like, not love, this scent and I am a bit disapointed with the siliage and longevity of this version compared to the older VS body mists. Good for every day wear fall-winter and maybe spring, you can get a 3h wear of it max. Not to potent, not to dominant and noticable, but a likable light compliment getting , croud pleasing scent. I would give it 6.5/10.

This scent was from my sister's collection, she bought it before boycott. warm Amber woody with creamy vanilla fragrance plus sour cherry in the top notes. very suitable to wear during the day in winter and Autumn seasons. Lovely. Wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I do! This is a unique, unusual, complex, juxtapositional scent because it successfully manages to blend cosy warm spicy musk i.e. resin/incense/ginger with clean freshness i.e. addictive detergent powder/baby wipe. Yet, still doesn’t smell juvenile like many of VS’ fragrances. Instead, it gives sexy date night vibes. Feels more like perfume than a body mist. An essential in any VS collection. The yummy custard and sour cherry notes are interesting, though, when paired with the Amber, they can pull rather screechy grating nail polish/melting plastic like. Strong.

I bought this because I was looking for a scent similar to the fragrance in L'Oreal Dream Lengths haircare range (orange bottles). While not exact, they're very similar to my nose! It doesn't have the best performance, but that's typical for body mists. I've never tried the old formulation, but the new one is a warm ambery scent where the cherry comes across as sweet and floral rather than tart or juicy. Not a cherry blossom scent, though. Notes on the bottle include golden apricot, which I think is more fitting. Because of the association with the haircare range, the scent also has a clean, fresh vibe to me.

So nostalgic... an absolute classic! Sweet, warm, cozy, creamy, sensual, and seductive. A lovely, sweet, amber vanilla with creamy sandalwood, and just a hint of slightly tart cherry. This was THE fragrance when I was in high school in the early ‘00s! A friend of mine had it and I thought she smelled absolutely incredible! When she told me what it was and handed me her bottle, that was it for me... I ran out and bought some for myself. I still have my original round bottle, and it still smells just the same... amazing and gorgeous!

I think a lot of us have a VS mist from high school and/or college and that will forever be associated with that time in our lives. Amber Romance is mine. I recently bought a bottle (for the first time in 10+ years), and at first, it isn’t as sweet as I remember. Fluffy, powdery, soapy (as mentioned below) musk and slightly sweet amber .. but as it settles, the musk fades and it does get sweeter. It actually turns into a spiced cookie scent after 4+ hours. Not a love, but I enjoy having it in my collection again.

It has a pleasantly clean, fresh vibe and though it does not list a musk note it has a touch. —perfect for those who prefer something neither sweet and sugary nor fruity or floral. Unlike many typical fragrances on the market, it stands out as one of a kind, which is why it remains a popular and well-loved Victoria’s Secret scent. It lasts impressively well on both skin and clothing yet never comes across as loud or overpowering. As for the cherry note it is not prominent or even detectable.

Very soapy on me which I like I love soapy, shampoo like scents but it’s very weak on me when you first spray it it’s very strong and then after few mins I can only smelly it if I smell my skin. I don’t smell any cherry in this vanilla is synthetic and the sandalwood is quiet strong it could be hiding the note of cherry. The custard is there but not huge. Overall I do like it I wear it before bed but I wouldn’t purchase again.

This fragrance is quite nice! I really enjoy it, I use the lotion of this because it last longer. You can really smell the cherry and custard come in, for me the amber is also there. I feel that I’ve smelt this before, for me it kinda smells like a thousand wishes from bbw. But I think the lotions from BBW and VS have an undertone smell. Overall, it’s nice for layering with Miss Dior.

This is unique. When I first tried this early on in my fragrance quest i immediately found it vile. I’ve just tried it back with a more trained nose and I can’t believe how good it smells to me lol. It’s edible for sure, you definitely get whiffs of cherry and custard. I really like the way this smells on my skin. Never smelled anything quite like this scent before

This is nice, Ive had this for a long time and is a staple for a cozy summer perfume that isn't cloying. Honestly to me this smells kinda like a nice baby powder. I find it pairs well with Valentino DBIR intense and brings out the vanilla in that. I probably wouldn't repurchase unfortunately, because there are better amber scents out there, but you never know!

Surprised by the cherry note because I have never picked it up, but this was my go to fragrance in highschool. Me and my best friend at the time called it stripper perfume because it was such a warm sexy scent. I'd often wear it with degree mens deodorant and joke that I smell like a man at a strip club. I still think that is pretty accurate for the scent.

I get why people find it revolting. A lady once said in a Facebook perfume group that she and her husband use it as bug spray in the summer, and I can see where it would really work. But also I love it, love it for bedtime and layering in the fall and winter. It’s my favorite VS OG line and I can’t really explain why. It goes so well with my BR 540 dupes.

I used to wear this a lot when I was in school as a young teen. I'm not sure if it smells the same now, I'd love to give it a go to see if it brings back any nostalgic feelings. At the time I thought it was quite unique, and I didn't like vanilla so this suited me better. It was good for the time, although I don't remember it lasting particularly well.

this one's nice. very much reminds me of a woman, like, a really old woman who rocks cheetah print and is probably named darla or something. doesnt last very long but hey what can ya do? probably would be nice if you layered something coffee-like with it? i dunno. usually i just layer more gourmand scents, brings out the custard a whole lot

VS's new iterations of their scents are good, but this one stands out. Not only does it live up to its sensual nature, it is perfect for the sunset vibe it markets itself as. I haven't taken notes of the notes themselves and how they smell throughout the day, so all I can say is this one is good.
