Bare

VS Bare is thankfully not what I thought it would be. After trying it, I knew I needed a bottle. Especially when it didn't turn out to be a Santal 33 interpretation with those notes. This original, being my favorite out of all the Bares, is a sweet but dewy violet. Not a powdered violet candy, but there is an unlisted vanilla or sugar note. The dewiness is fresh in a way which lifts the fragrance and keeps the vanilla from being too heavy. The sandalwood adds a creamy cozy facet without being too woody and the musk is like a hug from someone with a clean sweater on. The projection is not the loudest but the sillage carries when you walk. Longevity is moderate at 5 hrs, but it does stick to clothes. And even though I don't like the bottle design, can't beat it for the price. I really love that this is an amalgamation of various fragrances I've loved and liked. All in all I'm heavily reminded of the lifted vanilla in Mizensir Tres Chere, the creamy violet and purple fruit shampoo in Gucci Gorgeous Mangnolia without the depth of patchouli, Rania J Musc Moschus but Bare doesn't get syrupy or too "purple" fruity in warm weather, Phlur Soft Spot but Bare has a cleaner dewiness with less suede and powder, Cheirosa 59 but Bare is more refined and a tad less caramelized which works when it's warm out. I can see how the dew reminds of Byredo Mojave Ghost but that is more watery fruity shampoo with no vanilla. New Notes Bonbons Violette also has that dewiness, but it's more non-fruity natural violet that ends up drying down with a BR540 vibe. Lots of comparisons, but hopefully you can get an idea.

A creamy sandalwood, with violet and a hint of citrus up top... Bare is a little more than a skin scent on me, used it a few times now, to test what people say about it, and weirdly guys have told me that this scent is quite provocative, and that too over 7 hours since I put it on, (though I do 6 to 8 sprays of this scent). Friends tell me I smell nice (Females), guy friends tell me I smell super nice, and have even asked me to spray their jackets with a few sprays of Bare. I've even been stopped a few times since using this scent by straight couples and the girl will ask me about the scent because their partner found it very interesting, and I'd pull out my mini rollerball I carry around whenever I use this scent and offer the girl to apply it and tell them where to get it from and they would become so excited and thank me for being so nice about it. Honestly speaking I find this scent tends to smell very calming and caring to my nose, almost like being in the embrace of a warm kind sincere person (lol not trying to self project here), just describing what I picture when I get a whiff of this scent. Lasts over 10 hours on me with moderate projection especially when I sweat. 9/10 If this is a "your skin but better" kind of scent then count me in, Victoria Secret scents tend to play extremely well off my skin (weird, as I'm a Male), so yeah guess I'm just a lucky guy.

Editing 6 months later to add: I switched from the spray version of this to the rollerball. Not only does it last longer, the initial application is less screechy. Also picked up some of the perfume oil (came in a gift box) and Oh. My. God. Becky. I used the oil only on my legs, sparingly after shaving, and I had people commenting how amazing I smelled WHILE AT A FUNERAL. I wasn’t kidding when I said this fragrance is comforting - Wow. **************** This feels like a distant cousin to the OG Heavenly (which I wore the hell out of back in 1999). They start off completely different, but dry down to similar warm sandalwood/amber notes. The current Heavenly doesn’t seduce me in the same way. Bare, however, immediately won me over (and now I'm a little obsessed). It starts off fresh, a little fruity, and then it warms up to a comforting, soft, cozy confidence. Like getting really physically close to someone you trust, who you know will keep all your secrets and elevate you, and will definitely NOT try to steal your lover. tip: you can layer your Bare products with In The Stars shower gel from Bath & Body Works. The notes are *really* close. However: The mist and lotion of In The Stars are not as close to the Bare EDP scent as the shower gel. The moisturizing body wash version was FOUL ... I’m still a little traumatized by it.

Bare is living proof that skin chemistry is real. I live in a hot, tropical climate, have a warm skin temperature, and sweat easily. Usually, Victoria’s Secret fragrances turn very off-putting on my skin, but Bare completely broke that streak. It even convinced my non-fraghead friends that skin chemistry isn't just a myth. On testing stripes, they prefer other fragrances in store, but once I tried it on my skin — all agreed that this is the one! It’s a beautifully crafted "your-skin-but-better" scent. It opens with an almost lactonic, milky warmth — yet it never feels juvenile, sticky, or weird. As it dries down, it settles into an incredibly sophisticated, warm, and elegant woody-vanilla aura (and to be clear, it’s not "vanilla-ey" like those redundant vanilla perfumes out there). I get zero fruitiness at all from first spray to base. Instead, it feels as if I have a warm cashmere wrapping over my upper body, floating up to my nose from time to time when I least expect it. It’s not perfumey, but it’s definitely not basic either. It’s the kind of fragrance you wear both for yourself and for the people around you. VS perfumes are quite expensive where I live, but I’ve wanted this for so long and I have zero regrets. I genuinely cannot stop smelling myself.

You guys, I could drink this perfume. Seriously, what is IN this stuff?? I got a travel size from VS yesterday and have fallen madly in love. I’ve never had a perfume make me smile after every time I catch a whiff, along with no headache (I love notoriously sweet perfumes, headache or not haha). Not even my beloved Black Opium gets this kinda reaction from me. It’s sweet, warm, inviting, all day-every day kinda scent. Perfect for every occasion except maybe date nights haha, it’s maybe not deep and sexy enough, imo. I’m not the best at picking out individual scent profiles, but there’s nothing that sticks out in the spotlight in this perfume. Just sweet, slightly musky, blended goodness. I can’t tell if there’s vanilla or not.. but definitely sweet and yummy. And it lasts! I’m still enjoying it 5 hours later, and for me that’s a win. Most scents become skin scents on me within a few hours. But not this baby! Definitely getting a full bottle soon, I don’t wanna run out of my travel spray :)

oof, what kind of a fragrance is this??? I tried it so late but in a smashing summary "this is the perfume I'd want my man to get for me so that I wear it only for him when I'm completely bare and have nothing else on" this became such an intimate choice right away, definitely a perfume I'd want to be gifted by my man and not get for myself out of nowhere. it's definitely the lingerie that you wear only for the one you burn with desire for. it's so skin close, so subtle, not cloying, not overpowering, such a "goddess dropped from the heaven" vibed fragrance. I definitely picture this only for love making sessions, and only for the man that is head over heels in love with you, and that you feel the same for. wow. better late than never I guess because of all the associations I made in my head with this, I'd keep this gem for love making only lol really trying my best to stay PG here. not animalic in the slightest. intimate, like nothing else the two, becoming one. holy hell!!

I have an unhealthy obsession with Harry's Fig body wash (if you know, YOU KNOW), and I think Bare complements that scent soooooo well. Both have citrus (Bare has mandarin, Fig has blood orange) and both have woods in their base (Bare has sandalwood, Fig has cedar). Fig has spicy cardamom while Bare has a sweet violet note. I'm impressed with every offering the in VS Bare perfume line (I own them all!), but OG Bare stands out. The dry down is intoxicating. It's such an intimate snuggly skin scent. The mandarin and violet are beautifully paired. I can't stop smelling myself when I wear it! Very sexy and addictive. This is absolutely gorgeous. I've recently acquired Finery's dupe of Phlur's Missing Person (called Without a Trace), and I am planning on pairing them in the future. Both have notes of citrus and woods, but Without a Trace is more powdery.

coming back a few days later to say i've been obsessedddd w this. i didn't think i'd love it so much. it just has the most perfect scent to layer with my perfumes (bare vanilla lotion & spray + a little strawberry pound cake) and getting so many compliments! it's the kind of perfume you layer so your cheap body sprays smell expensive, subtle enough to not overpower any other notes, but still the perfect amount of strong and long lasting. you can douse yourself in it or do a light spray and you'll probably still get compliments. it's just not an overpowering or nauseating type of smell. i can't get enough of this stuff, this is exactly what i expect from a blind buy (still mad it's not a bare vanilla edp, but at the same time i think this perfume in itself has upped my scent game 100%.) it's just so classy and clean.

Where do I even start.. this perfume is a compliment reciever and is just soo good. It works super well with my skin chemistry and it smells sweet in a floral violet way and the wood is super yummy and airy. As far as the orange note, I dont smell it too much so it isnt like an over powering citrusy smell, but rather a nice fresh adition to the fragrance. This is honestly a great "glossier you" alternative for me because that perfume does not work well with my skin well at all. Bare does great with longevity and as far as sillage, it is noticeable when someone is close, but not dreadfully overwhelming which i love. I would definitely advise anyone to go try it on themselves before making a purchase, considering it is a "your skin but better scent", but I really enjoy this fragrance.

The first time I tried it in a store I was like wow! A warm, sweet, sunny, inviting and sexy scent. It’s a feeling that vanilla fragrances give to you but there is no vanilla in this one though the effect it leaves on you is similar. I disagree though with “your skin but better” cause to me this scent does bring some comforting vibe and it has medium projection. We all know that “invisible” and quickly disappearing scents and that is not that category. This is the scent to wear any time in any occasion, an easy reach, quiet safe but seductive at the same time. Seductive in simple and minimalistic way, yet very comforting. The bottle is also simple but cute. It’s a pity I did not pick up the biggest one, but I’ll certainly repurchase when mine is over.

I’m not kidding when I say this is probably one of the best perfumes I’ve ever smelled/worn! I have so many perfumes, with plenty of niche and luxury, but bare is better than all of those to me by a landslide. The only niche ones I consider worthy are valaya and br540 (because it’s a masterpiece in its name that changed the fragrance industry). There is just something so grown and sexy, yet sweet and flirty. It’s woody, and just sexy I’m so sorry I keep using that word but it to me is the embodiment of the cooler older female teen cousin/family friend or cool aunt from the early 2000s who loved to go out clubbing but also worked at an office. It’s a lot perfect sandalwood to me I consider bare in my top 5 at this point in time.

When I saw on here that people think it smells like Mojave ghost I thought they were crazyyy. But now that it’s dried down on my skin and clothes - it definitely does smell like Mojave ghost. Not spot on but now I don’t feel the need to buy a full size Mojave ghost. I love bare it’s so pretty and I think you can wear it in any weather and day or not. it lasts a long time on my clothes and moderately well on my skin. I got it on super sale so great value. My only con is that the atomizer on the bottle sucks it literally shoots out the perfume and lime leaves big wet spots on my clothes hahaha but it’s not that serious and probably just a me problem :)

I had high hopes for this fragrance, and I can definitely say it exceeded my expectations. Although I love perfumes that make a statement, I also really love fragrances that are a lot more laid back - more intimate. The sandalwood is so smooth and creamy, while the violet and mandarin quietly dance around the woody aura this fragrance has. I actually pick up the violet a lot more in the body mist (In fact, the body mist reminds me just a touch of Marc Jacobs Daisy). That being said, I find Bare to be a stunning skin scent that evokes feelings of comfort and warmth - It's certainly a new personal favorite from VS. I am so happy I picked this one up.

Was never interested in this one. I am a sugary sweet gourmand lover. This isn't my scent profile. I shouldn't love this. But I do! On me I get a cloud of warm, sweet, woody, slightly powdery notes that I can't describe. Warm skin, marshmallow, and soft woods is what comes to mind... almost like I naturally carry this scent. My other fragrances never get as many compliments as this one has garnered. Bare is so smooth and slightly sweet on me, whereas it is a bit screechy and floral on my friend. I don't care what anyone says. Skin chemistry is very much a thing. Always test on YOUR skin. Do not let reviews sway you...including mine.

This work so well for my skin, I literally tried it on the store and immediately fell in love. I actually read a lot of some bad reviews so I didn't pay any attention to this everytime I walk into a VS store but after spraying it on my wrist this is now my signature scent (I use JPG La belle before but I can only wear it on winter. 😫) Now I live by the rule "Don't listen to anyone. Trust what gives you pleasure. Trust the emotions. If you love something but can't explain why, that's enough." I literally can't explain it I just LOVE it so much it's perfect to me. BARE IS LITERALLY ME BUT IN PERFUME VERSION 🧎🏻♀️

Bare is in my top two of all time. While I’ve seen soooo many perfumes with the same exact notes I’ve still never found anything quite like it. Light sandalwood, juicy mandarin, and powdery violet, it smells exactly like what I imagine hot woman perfume would smell like. Perfect for any occasion or season, the love of my life. It leans slightly metallic on my skin after multiple hours without reapplication but I’m so in love I find myself reapplying whenever possible. This is also a crowd favorite! I receive compliments every time I wear it! I’ve bought eight full size bottles of Bare in the last three years.

I bought this recently I got the gift set it comes with 50ml bottle , body oil and a travel spray for £69 which I thought wasn’t to bad. Anyway oh I love this I wore it today I got so many compliments. on me it’s a very clean pretty soft powdery sandalwood fragrance, it lasted for hours on me I wasn’t very shocked that it lasts so long because bare rose also lasts hours on me too. But anyway I had to run some errands and had some appointments today many people complimented me and two ladies got me to show them the exact perfume gift set I bought lol. It’s warm , it’s clean and sweet best way to describe it

I really like this scent. Its not complex ot groundbreaking but it's so nice. It slingshots me back in time to the nostalgia of walking into Victorias Secret back in the day and this perfume to me is reminiscent of how the whole store itself used to smell back then. It smells very much like the classic dna of original victorias secret fragrances. In fact the first time I sprayed it I thought: this is the smell of the inside of the store. While I cant get enough of it, I think for others this might be too basic of a scent so its worth trying a tester first.

The most clean girl scent at VS. It’s a one to one of Byredo Mojave Ghost, it has the exact same DNA. I am currently smelling Mojave Ghost Absolu on one wrist and Bare on the other and they’re nearly identical. The $400 absolu version that just came out, similar color juice too and bottle when you pay attention. Bare is maybe a tinge sweeter and a touch less fruity, but the differences wouldn’t be picked up by an untrained nose. I can also attest Bare has insane performance, lingers for days on clothes and projects very well. It leans powdery fresh.

This is the first day I’ve been able to wear this. Let me start off by saying WOW! It’s very lovely. I wasn’t expecting the lasting power. I wasn’t sure at first if I wanted a full bottle because in the store, sprayed on the paper, it was just the okay. BUT on my skin it projects beautifully. I don’t get the fruitiness everyone is saying at all. I get powdery vanilla upon first spray and woody, slightly floral, and warm vanilla on the dry down. This has lasted a full 8 hours on me. Running to buy the full size bottle. Don’t sleep on this... 😘

this is prob the strongest perfume I've ever used...like i can actually smell it lol (I'm new to edp's). anyways I bought this as a mistake thinking it was a bare vanilla edp and when I read the reviews on here I was convinced I would hate it. it's not sweet or gourmand at all which is unfortunate because it is a pretty (but bland) scent. to me it smells like how I'd expect clean girl makeup to smell if that makes sense. just very very clean. but again no sweetness at all so I won't be wearing it. I don't hate it. but I'm a gourmand girly

I would agree with the previous comments and say that this smells like a "your skin but better". It is very clean yet musky, like good soap without the florals. Almost everyone I have showed this to automatically falls in love with the smell. It's very crowd pleasing and you can't really go wrong. I'm surprised "woody" is listed as its predominant note, because it is more so soapy and musky. If it was woody I don't think I would enjoy it as much. Maybe there's a hint of woods, but it's certainly not what my nose picks up.

It's such a subtle and comforting "your skin but better" kind of scent. It's very subtle but it projects. Somehow it's a big compliment getter, and for the price point, I really enjoy it. It has a bit of a powdery quality, but it's just such an easy reach. It's clean but it's also a bit warm, which makes it perfect for both day and night. It literally smells like the colour of the juice. I ran through my 10ml very fast. Considering getting a full size of this. It's not groundbreaking but it's just so comforting

Listen, for a Victoria’s Secret scent, this is just beautiful and if I’d been told to blind test it, without knowing it’s VS, I would have probably said it’s a high end designer perfume. I think the woody notes in it bring this scent perfection and balance. I love that it smells delicate (on my skin) and quite sophisticated. Maybe it’s just the way my skin reacts to it but I had to get a 100 ml bottle because it’s a beauty and I am going to enjoy wearing the heck out of it this Fall!!

I absolutely love this scent. I tend to go for light or fruity scents. But this warm scent feels like a hug, and smells like comfort. Some people may find it generic or boring but i adore this scent. It’s perfect for cold weather. It lasts for hours on me. It does gets me compliments. I don’t get any Mandarin. I get the Sandalwood and Violet. I smell abit of Amber and something very creamy in this. Maybe I’m wrong but I feel like there’s some notes in this scent that isn’t listed.

I really love this scent but not enough to pay Victoria Secret's price for it. I recently bought it online from someone for $20 and I have to say, that's probably all I would be willing to pay for it. Like every other Victoria secret perfume, it doesn't really last long and is pretty basic. However, I do find this one more classy and mature than their usual generic bombshell scents. I will probably layer this with a nice fluffy vanilla lotion because this is rather woody

This was a perfume I smelled initially and didn’t think much of. But once I was gifted it and used it - it’s an everyday fragrance for me. It’s also WONDERFUL to layer with another fragrance. If I’m having a day in I’ll wear it alone because it’s fresh but still warm. If I go out I do like to layer it with something else to enhance my scent trail that day. It’s a great scent for all year round and even though it’s light and feminine it still makes me feel sexy

So soft and subtly sweet, Bare is your favorite fall sweater. This fragrance is so familiar and comforting. If you're an aesthetic freak like me though, the bottle just doesn't do it for me. Maybe it's the black plastic cap. Give me Bare in the same bottle shape but a glass cap and a cream colored bow, I'd keep it on my dresser forever. Come on Victoria's Secret, where's your classic branding at?!

i. love. this. scent. its so cozy but also slightly strong? at the same time if that makes any sense. its woody and floraly with a slight fruit to it, it smells sweet on me. Like sweet woody smell. I love this soo much. I have not even finished my travel size yet and I already have bought two more travel sizes (sale). Hoping I can snag a 1.7oz soon. I wear this to bed and in the daytime.

I usually find woody scents to be too masculine for my taste. Bare is an enigma to me though. I don't get "woody" at all! The mandarin orange is juicy and delicious... the Australian sandalwood and violet add depth and interest. This scent really surprised me! It has an addictive, comforting aromatherapy quality to it that I predict will have me reaching for it over and over. Beautiful!

a friend's signature scent. smelling it always makes me feel like i just walked past the door right after she left for work. i haven't smelled it in a minute, but definitely clean, sweet, musky, not quite floral. i see the comparison to perfumes like glossier you, but i think bare does it better. some of the other bare scents are nice, but it's hard to live up to this one.

i truly love this scent. it's powdery, soft and woody. not overly sweet but so comforting c: on my skin it wears like a skin scent and lasts for about 4-5h. i've already received compliments while wearing it to uni. it has quickly become my favourite VS perfume (alongside bare sueded vanilla), and i'll definitely be buying a full size bottle once my travel size runs out !

This is one of my favorite fragrances, i’m not sure why i don’t hear anyone talk about this!! It’s such a warm scent, and mixes with your body chemistry, which makes it smell slightly different on everyone. I feel like it goes well with any season, and any occasion. I truly love it I recommend trying it yourself, you might be surprised!!

Although it’s marketed as a women’s fragrance, I find it pretty much unisex. I get mostly the sandalwood and mandarins, with violets melting in the background gradually. It has airy, clean, shampooy vibes. I reccomend buying the body mist, since it has the same longevity, sillage and projection as the perfume, but it’s so much cheaper.

This is beautiful! It’s the perfect soft scent that really wears well. I think there’s more notes than listed. I swear there’s a bit of pineapple in there. Regardless, it’s so pretty and I think it would be great for all seasons and any occasion! Safe blind buy! I find it classy and inoffensive, and slightly sexy in a good girl way!

I think this is a really nice beginner friendly skin scent! It’s gently fresh yet warm because of the sandalwood. It truly does feel and smell like my skin is releasing the scent. Definitely great for a daily perfume if you need to wear something that won’t agitate others but will still be noticeably pleasant!

I own over 50 bottles of perfume ranging from $10 to $200+ and absolutely NONE of them get me as many compliments as this fragrance does. This to me is perfection in a bottle, its a sweet skin like scent and it smells different on everyone. GET THIS. I don't know what it is but this is just so damn good.

Much sweeter than I had anticipated. Candied violets & sandalwood. I’m not mad about it. Not really powdery in my opinion, just a soft sweet woody fragrance. Doesn’t last or project very well though. It’s pretty & I can’t see anyone being bothered by this if you wore it around a crowd or at work.

OH MY DAYS!!! This is a compliment getter and i just love it so much 🤩 It smells so feminine, elegant, amazing and just incredible. Honestly i really smell the violet in this but it isn’t like head ache strong. It is just the best 💗 i will 100% repurchase it. I recommend it so much.

Amazing, I love it! You would never believe this is VS, it’s blended so well and such a beautiful musk in my eyes. Does it last long yes not bad for a VS fragrance. I wear this often when I want a simplistic scent running errands. Highly recommended 10/10 Definitely get it!

The best VS perfume I’ve ever tried. Doesn’t smell as synthetic as the others. It’s airy, powdery, woody, and feminine without being overly sweet. Vanilla isn’t listed as a note but I definitely get it on the dry down. Sophisticated and great for any season and occasion.

It’s a great value, a crowd pleaser. You’ll get so many compliments with this...it smells way more niche and expensive than it is. It reminds me of a cool girl who works at a marketing agency. She’s the new hire and all of her co workers talk about her weekend exploits.

Bare is the perfect skin fragrance, in my opinion— it won’t lean sour nor bitter. Very elegant and sexy. I would love to have a fragrance like this with a larger sillage trail and more longevity. Having said that, I still appreciate Bare as it is 😅. One of my favs ever

I got this because Tres Chere is a favorite of mine. This does not smell like it. I don't get any sandalwood, just the orange/bright citrus from initial spray to complete drydown hours later. I hoped this would be a cozy skin scent, but it's sharp citrus.

More sweet than i was expecting. A very feminine, slightly floral and sweet citrus scent with a nice subtle woodsy base. Doesnt project like crazy, a little more of an intimate scent. Can be too much if you spray probably more than 3 times.

I am OBSESSED with this. I have 200+ bottles of niche perfumes and this is in my top 10! I think it’s the violet in this perfume that I’m addicted to. Such an incredible scent. Wore it this weekend and was told I smell intoxicating

Demure, soft, not-too-sweet--I've worn it every day in office since my purchase. Rounds out beautifully with Demeter's Asian Pear fragrance oil, especially since the mandarin fruitiness wears off quickly. Boyfriend loves it too!

Every time I come back to this one, I’m so pleasantly surprised. I LOVE violet and I would say the violet in this is pretty prominent. SUCH a beautiful, feminine scent! Smells like tres chere by Mizensir but better to my nose

I'm not a super fan of whatever's in the VS dna that is soooo off putting to me, but this one stands out. I really like layering this with other fragrances to complicate them, and I especially like how richly woody it is.
