Pink Berry Glitz

This is one is a catfish. What Berry Glitz promises in the way of splashing candied cocktails on a fun outing, is actually an expertly crafted illusion of 2 specific notes. This mist consistently delivers an vibrant blast of airy berries, which is in essence dry, tart, enticing black raspberry accord that in time simmers down rather perplexingly both bitter and pungent while deliciously enjoyable; refusing to fully become acrid on its journey toward becoming a mature and pronounced liquor... old world truffle? I purchased this with hopes it would fulfill my endless quest for a vineyard blackberry fragrance, much beloved from a very old and long gone hair treatment in the 90s, well this was a hit and a miss for very different reasons. Here a bright hybrid damask rose debuts and persists, warmed over a smouldering and condensed deep raspberry opening as its leafy tealike freshness contrasts and projects well over the dark brandied raspberry note throughout the lifespan of this scent. Linear, potent, realistic, against an enveloping fullbodied compote that lends an edible air in place of light fruity or citric aspect one expects and wants from a rosebud. While it evokes a scene, its incorrect to claim this quite like an evening in a garden full of spent rosebeds, whose wilting blooms' dried nectar wafts along on the rising breezes as spilled chambord stains a tie or sleeve- depth of such an experience is approximate to this mist, but sweetness and freshness expected are not. In frigid temps Berry Glitz represents as scintillating duet of rich bouquets and wine coolers, but in warmer weather it's juiciness neither quenches nor refreshes as it lacks sparkling effervescent nature while never becomes cloying or fermented either. Any aldehydes and esters used to suggest a syrupy cordial, lack sugar and emphasize a pronounced earthy jojoba/shea butter base beneath the leafy 'rose'. I understand an astringent, animalic floral accord is not everyone's cup of tea however this is balanced well to create an approachable and enticing profile. Rose in Berry Glitz isn't linear nor definable as a standalone note but has been blended perfectly into the dark berries, with its rosey drydown representing as an almost cocoa-powdered note that never reaches potpourri dustiness or stale acridity that dutched cocoa exhibits; but as an unsweetened botanical musk almost akin to orris. This fragrance contains layered qualities which should recommend it as a velvety spiced juice but there is no cinnamon, ginger, cashmeran, or lactonic, vanillic, coumarin, or tonka which would cause this vibe. I don't know of anything else that does this. The interplay and general composition reminds me of the magic in Forever Midnight which steers from plum into warm caramel instead. Covered in Roses' monotonous sugar water is hardly worth any mention here. Lush's Rose Jam veers pure green geranium shampoo nonsense in comparison. Berry Glitz isn't light or refreshing as Bath & Body Works Black Raspberry Vanilla is (and happens to be closest thus far for my hair treatment scent hunt).
