Swiss Army Rock

VICTORINOX as a fragrance house is probably THE MOST slept on hidden gem fragrance house currently. These fragrances have no business being $10 - $20. I will be prefacing all these with same introduction because all 5 of the fragrances I bought from Victorinox are INCREDIBLE. Every single one of them. ROCK has a very interesting characteristic that surpasses just being a great fragrance, it’s also a sensation. To anyone who’s tried smoking Hookah before, when you breathe in the smoke, it’s quite heavy. It’s so dense that the smoke itself feels like something you can bite down on, like cotton candy. This fragrance has that sensation upon first spray. There is a robust, balmy, Benzoin incense note that just FILLS your senses. A previous reviewer described it as “fluffy” and that’s a perfect word for it. It’s so robust that it feels textured. The initial spray also reminded me of an old fragrance from the 90s called Ginseng NRG by Jovan, a tea heavy fragrance with some soft warm spices. ROCK feels like a modernized version of this in my opinion. The fragrance doesn’t have a crazy transition, it retains that initial Benzoin sweetness throughout, and softly fades into a vanilla / rugged leather drydown. The leather is VERY subtle though. I wouldn’t have been able to tell if I didn’t see it written, but when you pick it out, it does remind you of a sexy rugged leather. It feels more unisex, but still has a masculine edge, not unlike Baccarat Rouge 540. If I could equate this fragrance to anything, it would be a day out hiking. The surroundings are dusty, rocky and dry fresh air, like somewhere in Arizona, culminating in a beautiful sunset over rocky structures. There’s even a hint of skin / musk that comes from being out in the sun all day. It’s so pleasant, so unique and just SO GOOD. Performance is average, maybe even a little below average, but a few extra sprays should help its longevity. I cannot recommend this fragrance enough, though I have to temper my enthusiasm, I’ve got to keep this energy while I review the other 4. Wish me luck, and go buy this! 8/10

Very similar to Body Kouros! Great cheapie gem!!

It starts off sweet, it then progresses into this powdery and spicy nutmeg and finishes off quite smooth. I couldn't stop smelling my wrist the first time I tried this when I got a larger order of fragrances recently and I liked this a lot more than I thought I would how unique it is. This kind of get some flash backs to Givenchy Pi my dad used to wear. This is far from a clone of it, It's unisex leaning masculine to me. The name "Rock" is fitting. The use nutmeg is FAR from going to your spice rack and sniffing a jar of it. The sharp edges of the nutmeg are taken away with all the other notes used in this. I would never have thought in a million years this had nutmeg in it until I read the note pyramid. Some things to consider The leather isn't like tuscan leather strong but it's there. I don't get any cumin at all thankfully as I find cumin usually ruins fragrances for me. That being said "Rock" is a fragrance I can't find anything wrong with so I'll happily wear this. I can see this being a dumb reach for someone who is into sweet fragrances. It can be an every day fragrance. Is it my favorite Viktorinox fragrance? Probably not but I do appreciate it for what it is. I feel if one of Quentin's other employers such as Parfums De Marley put this out with an extra zero in the price tag it would have sold way better as I didn't know this existed until purchasing it. There was so little to go by about his on google or youtube. I suppose the shills weren't bribed enough to consider reviewing this. I'm certainly not expecting this to fill a room or last 12+ hours with a sensible amount of sprays but for the price of a tester on discounters (around $20) I thought this was a good purchase. The perfumer went on to make Azzaro Wanted By Night, many Amouage Jean Paul Gautier, Paco Rabanne and Parfums De Marley fragrances as well as MAB - Ganymede. One of the best things he's done lately to me is Issey Miyake Sel D'Issey.

It's a leather and aromatic fougere hybrid fragrance that is very gentle, making it pleasing and mass appealing. It blends slight sweet, leather, herbal and spicy aromas very well, with no one particular note overpowering the others. The smoothness is quite noticeable, I've smelled niche fragrances that don't smell as smoothly as this one does on the nose. True leather fragrance lovers who adore fragrances like Tom Ford's Ombré Leather and Tuscan Leather should be aware that the leather notes in Rock are nowhere near as strong. Rock is a great gateway to leather fragrances. It's smooth and mass appealing and will appeal to male users of all ages. This is not unisex, though. It's a drugstore fragrance that can also be found in discount stores and it performs like one. You will need to overspray on first application and respray throughout the day. But you can certainly afford to replenish your used bottles at this price. Pretty unique overall for a leather fragrance. Recommended.

This is a sweet, smooth, kinda fluffy fragrance though all the scents are probably perceived as more cold and grey, dismal... it may evoke attic or basement must, space dust, mineral, ash, etc.. My first thought was powder and shaving cream, incense, Black licorice, ash, fennel, but there’s a little more there. Daughter said it reminded her of a catholic funeral, I.e. incense and I think she’s right. Reminds me of a spicier, less floral version of Prada Luna rossa carbon or the drydown from ds & durga’s fou d’absinthe after all the green notes dissipate. Interesting and kinda up my ally. Cool scents, again a bit too powdery for me, I prefer the crispness of Prada carbon but this is a softer more incense-y option. Not wildly strong or obnoxious. Moderate to low sillage and doesn’t last very long. An okay price if you like this sweet style and are okay with reapplying.

#689 in my "Tour de Fragrance" You occasionally find a real gem in the under $30 scents, so I give as many as I can a try. This is not a gem. This is my first try of a Victorinox scent. This isn't going to bowl anyone over if it even draws notice from anyone that isn't skin close. After two hours even someone skin close won't smell it. But, if they do smell it, they'll think you smell nice, like you showered with Cremo's "Suede" men's bodywash. Artemesia. Sounds so much better than "mugwort" in a promotional blurb. Gives many people sneezing fits, if not an outright case of rhinitis, even an asthma attack, and it's a note in a thousand scents, many that I have owned and given away before I figured out the problem was the artemesia and started avoiding it. Some have triggered sneezing and a runny nose only in the opening, as this one did for about five minutes, then it was fine. But I've given up and given away a long list of great scents that just kept me blowing my nose. Bummer, because I otherwise enjoyed them all, as I enjoyed this scent for the short time it was noticeable. Fortunately this was a sample I got (foolishly not bothering to check the notes first), but even if I'd gotten a full bottle of the scent it would have only been $20. Many of the scents I gave away, the price was a lot more painful. You can certainly wear this anywhere because no one will know you're wearing it. If you want to wear a scent, but don't want anyone to know you're wearing a scent, this is an option. Very little projection after 20 minutes. Skin scent in an hour. Not that in two. Don't bother with this. Not worth your $20.

Doesn't smell anything like any of the listed notes to my nose. It reminds me of Paco Rabanne Phantom, a very slightly earthy modern sweet sort of scent. It isn't bad, and the performance and projection are above average for the price point, just make sure you know what you're getting.
