Swiss Army Unlimited Snowflower

All right, lets just get the bad out of the way: The packaging for Snowflower is ridiculous. It looks like some kind of Christmas ornament that you would give to a toddler to play with, like it's going to turn into a Transformer or something. Also, there's something about having a mostly plastic bottle of perfume that really bothers me. Then there is the stupid carabiner--no backpacker is ever going to latch a freaking bottle of perfume onto their pack! It's superfluous, it will add too much weight, you're not going to spray perfume on while wearing the same dirty underwear that you've been trekking in for days. I find the whole concept to be laughable--probably because I've been backpacking for weeks at a time, and perfume is the last thing on my mind. Now the good is really good--this perfume is wonderful, unique, has great performance, and is dirt cheap. I love it and I wish Snowflower came in 100 ml bottles, alas I just had to make do with ordering another stupid bottle as a backup, as they only make this in 1 oz. Here's what it smells like: First we have a lot of citrus and ginger over vanilla and water notes. I have no idea how they did it, but this is the only perfume I've smelled that really smells like cold, clean, flowing water--not ozonic or aquatic at all, not 'sea fresh' or something like that, just literal water. Citrus+ginger+water+vanilla--who would have thought it? After a bit the vanilla turns a bit floral with iris and powder, and I do smell a gasping rose--it really doesn't last long, it is quickly replaced with a background of white flowers. And then, occasionally, I will smell the accord of night time frozen winter air. How the heck did they do that? It is really unbelievable! It smells like walking around in the north woods in the middle of a January night. This effect will go on for a few hours, until the two part drydown. Initially this dries down into a nice dry powdered vanilla and woody orris root. The longer I have it on though Snowflower starts to have faint traces of resins and patchouli. During the first few hours Snowflower has moderate sillage, and after that it wears as a skin scent. It lasts ALL DAY on my skin, with one touch up (I touch up mostly because I like the top and middle progression so much.) This perfume has so many changes, and keeps things interesting all day long. Not many perfumes can say that! Especially when you can pick this up for $10, which is great for me, but I just think it's sad that poor little Snowflower is relegated to Overstock.com and TJMaxx.

In addition to notes listed here, Snowflower also contains menthol, lime, citronella, cassia cinnamon, and coumarin. All notes combine to give this fragrance a very cold smell. It even feels cold on the skin, as you spray it on. Snowflower has a very chic, light, gentle sheer powdery feel. The overall effect is soft, very smooth, more creamy than powdery. It smells cold, almost medicinal at first, then dries down to a cool sweetness that smells like natural sweet clover. The smell is more clean, not green. Orris root and ginger give Snowflower a lightly spiced feeling, crisp, cool, but not at all sharp. A touch of menthol, lime and citronella add an uplifting cooling effect. Patchouli and vanilla are well blended, not heavy at all. Vanilla adds to the soft feeling. Woodsy notes are slightly bitter, grounding this fragrance and giving it the smell of a cold wet patch of forest floor bared by a melted patch of snow. Rose and lily bloom in the drydown, their scents adding just a touch of natural sweetness. On my skin, Snowflower lasts about 12 hours. Projection is strong for the first 2 hours, settling to a strong skin scent after that. This fragrance continues to leave a trail like a cool breeze wafting through a cold forest for as long as you wear it. Snowflower is a highly unique fragrance, very affordable, and definitely one of my favorites ! The bottle is unique, too. If you look at the bottle from the very top, you'll see a silvery center surrounded by a white plastic cylinder ring. The silvery part is the sprayer. To access the sprayer, press down on the outer white ring. The ring will move down to expose the sprayer.

This was a suprice to me , I bought this a wild back and tested it breafly, hearing good things about it and being similer to my long wished for Malle L eau de hiver . i jumped on it and was abit disapointed , well it was cheap and such , so i just tuccket it in my wardrobe and forgot about it. Resently looking for Lipstick and Iris scent i heared this one mentioned again and put it on ,Full wear this time . and wow .. This is truly something .The Iris rot and water notes are the most prominet with a slight touch of Ginger vanilla , A slight slight tocuh of floral and patchouli . Lingers quit cooling cold on skin. but the floral notes stopes it from getting to cold . I cant say that i find it strickyngly similer to Hiver . But i slight touch maybe .. This one last a long time to . going on pretty strong aswell so dont have to overspray . Lasted 10 + hour on me without fading or develop much after it settles . This has realy changed my view on this from no go to Craving it . good thing i tested again . Always fun to find a hidden gem amongsts the cheapes aswell . with regards to the Talking about Lipstick waxy scent . it fits the bill more powdery then waxy on my skin perhaps ,but nevertheless makeupy .

first spray: definitely very sweet, at least on me, though i dont love it, its definitely cold but the vanilla doesnt stick out to me too much but it is definitely there in the sweetness. there is definitely some spice from the ginger, a little powdery. compared to my other cold vanilla fragrance, hypnose by lancome, which is one of my favourites, i would say this is a much more romantic and kinda youthful fragrance? on the dry down, i definitely smell the patchouli and woodsy notes. in particular, id say its like a young girl in the winter woods. it’s sweet from the vanilla, but it’s cold and to me it reminds me of nature. not sure if it’s suitable for me, but i definitely enjoy it a lot. the woodsiness mixed with the sweetness is really gorgeous and i haven’t smelled anything like it before. it reminds me of november, a mix of winter and autumn, which is my favourite month. i have yet to wear it out, but i’ll update when i do :P

I'm so happy I finally found this and have it in my collection! Snow Flower is the closest experience I'll ever have to walking in a winter wonderland in the middle of hot Australian weather. It's fresh, aromatic but still powdery vanilla like a real forest covered in puffs of snow... and feels cold on skin. Pure bliss! Ah sweet memories of my European childhood! Actual update to come... This is the perfect antidote to a hot and humid summer. It's fresh but warm and soothing at the same time. It actually lasts ages in the heat which is fantastic. One of my favorite vanillas.

The opening: I can't figure it out. Do I like it, do I not? Why does it remind me of Rihanna's Rogue? The dry down: Hooowee! Abso-friggen-lovely. There's a vanilla warmth that hovers just above the skin, but a coolness ON the skin that makes you wanna nuzzle in close and slowly run your hot hands over it. I kinda get white freezie and also something like dried, sticky vanilla icecream. I just love this fragrance.

Definitely a unique fragrance, to say the least; but not unpleasant. This is unique in that it actually DOES smell "cold". I'm not sure what orris root smells like, but the combination of notes at the top create a "cold-as-ice" scent. There's a slight floral undertone here too; but not a flower I can distinguish. Then the next few notes I smell create an aroma similar to ice cold water straight out of the freezer, mixed with soft breeze of green leaves and flowers coming in from the kitchen window. Yes, my description is bad, but that's what it smells like to me. It's ice cold water without smelling like a typical aquatic fragrance. There's a hint of soft woods, but just a hint. Almost like the floral and woodsy notes are trying to tease your senses. From the reviews above, I was worried this would smell like mosquito repellent; but it's FAR FROM that. It's just soft, powdery, and lingering. Clean, but not in a soapy way. Powdery, but not baby powder or even powdered sugar. It's almost like they ground up some sandalwood and cedar, with flowers, and turned it into powder that you can use to feel fresh and dry. Wearing this is like bathing in a cold waterfall in the middle of a forest, without the use of toiletries. Does that make sense? I honestly think it could be unisex if you want it to be; but don't think it leans more towards masculine, ladies. It just has this "vibe" that makes me think it would actually smell nice on a man that wants to smell and feel clean without overdoing it with cologne. EDITED: I just wanted to add that there's a slight "stinky" note in here. I think it might be the coumarin that joliecat mentioned. However, don't be afraid of it. It just adds that "natural scent". Not sure how to explain it. It's not strong. Just plays peek-a-boo with the other notes every now and again. For the most part, this scent is just ice-cold snow with a hint of floral-woodsy notes playing together in harmony.

This smells so much like MOR Marshmallow when it dries down! At first it is a soft powdery smell, but then it becomes richer and sweeter the longer it wears on the skin, especially near pulse points. I believe that one is a bit more "intense" and this is the more delicate version, but the musky cotton candy drydowns are unmistakable. On its own merits this scent has so much to offer. It is powdery, musky, floral, and sweet. The notes are not so distinct, and I don't get the cold effect that others have mentioned, but it is still a lovely perfume that makes me feel so comforted. This perfume is also so much more affordable than the other one I've mentioned, which I do believe is an Australian brand so it harder to come by where I'm from. I also think the lightness of this scent makes it easier to wear, it does not become overbearing, and it also goes through a short lived yet interesting development. I'm so thrilled I waited to get a decant of this, and discovered I actually love it. It will be very worth the wait and I can breathe a sigh of relief that I've found an affordable substitute to another scent I love.

I've never before experienced a cold vanilla - even vanilla ice cream smells more warmly sweet than cold to me - so Snowflower represents something unique in my stupid large collection. What's most surprising to me is the intensity of orris! I'm used to orris being part of a nice sweet blend but not usually in the spotlight. In Snowflower orris is right up front & center adding a vegetal powder to the cold vanilla and it's really very, very pretty. I sense no ginger, rose or lily but I do notice the woodsy notes and a hint of patchouli running through that give Snowflower its outdoorsy feeling. I have this only because I was just a couple of dollars below a fragnet purchase total to qualify for free shipping on an order for a bargain back-up of L'Air de Rien so I threw this one in my cart, expecting... not much, to be honest. Would I buy it again? Maybe, because it's really pretty and it lasts a good 6-8 hours but repurchase will depend upon how it strikes me in warm weather. I'm hoping its cold aspect will prove refreshing but I anticipate the intense orris powder will be too much for summer.

This was smelling so funky on me I had it on my swap list but always forgot to mention it or throw it in. It’s such a cheapie I almost felt guilty trying to pawn it off on someone else like it wasn’t good enough to give away if that makes sense. And it’s a good thing I didn’t! I decided to wear this on a chilly morning where fall is in the air and the promise of winter is looming, Summer and it’s sunny days are behind us and this perfume is beautiful! I know the votes show that this is better suited for spring/summer but trust me the cold air brings out a beautiful creaminess to the orris and I do get the icy sensation it’s almost like an iris ice cream. I love it today, who knows how I’ll feel about it tomorrow but it’s getting moved back into the collection.

I bought this women's version, as well as the men's, at Dollarama for $4. This is one of the very few perfumes that really evoke a feeling of snowy winter scenes. I love the vanilla that comes through after it settles in. It's sweet, very powdery and has a nice wood base. The only other perfume I can think of that feels this snowy and winter-ish would be Lise Watier Neiges which is one of my favourites. That is more floral whereas this one is much sweeter so they both speak to winter but come at it from different angles. This was a great inexpensive find! Good performance, the scent is still there after several hours.

So back in the early 80’s I had this gorgeous cousin who was about 3 yrs older than me. I thought she was so cool and so pretty and she wore the best makeup ever. I was 10 and she was a big girl at 13 ha ha! So I would always put on her L’Oréal bright purple lipstick and this perfume brought me back to this memory because it smells identical to that lipstick! Waxy and sweet with a coolness to it. Incredible! I was looking for icy ❄️ scents and I ended up with a gorgeous lipstick scent. Very happy. Great blind buy!

People seem to be either love or hate with this. I guess it works wonderful on my skin, because I don't smell "toe jam" "trash" or "feet". I can see possibly laundry detergent at first. It melts well into my skin, somewhat powdery and sweet. I dig it. I absolutely love the bottle. I'm a tomboy that loves girly scents. So it checks both boxes. Slapping this bad boy on my backpack.

Starts off kind of gross-smells like straight toe jam. But give it 20 minutes and it goes away and you're left with a beautiful aquatic iris scent. Not super powdery. But quite cool and floral. This gives me the feeling of taking a morning walk when the sun hasn’t come up yet and it’s chilly but not super cold. Lovely.

Dollarama FTW. I remembered buying it, but hadn’t seen it in my collection for years. Ran across it tonight. For $4, it slaps. I can’t think of any fragrance to compare it to, it is quite unique.

This is an odd perfume... Definitely need to give it a minute as that opening is.. something.. it's not bad or yuk but it's not overly pleasant either. If you have ever been unlucky enough to need a nebulizer for asthma or the likes you will know this smell.. it's like a plasticy chemical oxygen smell. A bit medicinal even. I get the "fresh ozonic " vibe but it's done in such a synthetic way that that first minute or so can really ruin this perfume for you. If you do give it a little time, it does become a fresh crisp ozonic floral and it's pleasant enough but you do have to work for it. The lasting power is average to good and the bottle is so cool. I won't buy again but I'll happily use up the bottle I have.

I want to like this but I can’t get over the weird heady medicinal scent that comes with the first spray, if I can just have the dry down that would be perfectly fine but I unfortunately can’t get through the middle and top notes without getting a headache.

Smells like laundry detergent, I'm sorry. I was excited for a cold flower/vanilla but got laundry soap. I don't think this can even be worn as a perfume at all :(

I can't get through the opening. It's like an outhouse drowned in cheap air freshener. And it breaks my heart because the bottle is so cool! Maybe I'll spray it on paper to just experience the drydown but I don't think I will ever wear this. Good thing it was only $8.

I actually hate this perfume. It is the only one in my collection that I hate. To me it smells of feet. Literally body odour foot smell. I have only tried it on paper not on skin but it is a strong no from me. 30ml edt to swap if someone else wants to try it.
