Dancing Roses

This was an unusual perfume purchase for me. I assumed this was a cash-grab scent - another pointless addition to ride the popularity wave from "Flower Bomb". Despite my expectations, I ended up loving it and buying a bottle. The opening of Dancing Roses is a strong, sweet cherry scent and some indistinct spiciness. It's a few minutes later that the 'booze' part of the scent appears and it really makes the cherry and spicy notes evolve into something a lot less gourmand than it sounds. On my skin the rose note comes through as a solid middle note and lasts quite awhile. I don't typically enjoy sweet notes or most rose notes but this one is so lovely, and a bit fleshy kind of a bitter floral not a sweet one, that I started to wonder if I've misjudged 'rose'. It isn't as sweet as a gourmand so I wouldn't call it that despite the cherry cocktail aspect of the notes. And, the rose scent is really mercurial sometimes it disappears, and sometimes it's quite strong but not soapy at all just very lovely. The performance is average and disappears after about 5-6 hours on me. As a smoky, spicy, woodsy perfume lover I have to testify that this scent might be a gateway scent to enjoying gourmands. It is a good scent for layering, and it's a solid release by V&R so don't automatically discount it as a cash-grab scent, give it a whiff!

Randomly sprayed this perfume in a Sephora in 2018. That spray changed my life. Boyfriends, apartments, homes, jobs, milestone birthdays, and a pandemic came and went... Dancing Roses was the one constant. I first started wearing this scent while moonlighting in retail, and let me tell you: this is not a compliment-getter-- it's an adoration magnet. Strangers following me around the store, dying to know what that scent was. Looking at me in pure awe when they realized it was me that scent was emanating from. In February of 2021, my bottle was running low. With the fragrance being on its way to discontinuation, I was only able to find a travel spray. Then, my boyfriend let slip that a bottle magically appeared on Macy's.com, and he had purchased one for me. I hopped on that website and ordered as many bottles as I could: 11. Best decision I have ever made. I will never stop wearing this scent. It's a rose, but crisp, fresh, original, not powdery. No predictable musk or Cashmeran base to balance it out. The cherry is strong, giving it a playful fruitiness; that it comes from brandy keeps it out of childlike territory. The brandy gives it a warmth and a sexiness-- truly intoxicating. Dancing Roses is an iconoclast. Yet to be replicated and yet to be replaced.

Dancing roses is a sparkly, effervescent, very happy scent. It opens with predominantly rose essence and cherry liqueur to my nose and I think I get the lychee too. There is also a bright, tangy note which helps balance the sweetness from the fruits. I can also pick up an ambery depth along with an airy musk in the dry down. All the notes in this fragrance work to balance each other and the result is a very well rounded, airy, sparkling fragrance that really does feel like it's dancing on your skin! Longevity is moderate about 5-6 hrs but I can still gets wafts of it at 10 hr mark, sillage is moderate. This is one I see myself reaching for when I need a mood lift. When I first started looking for fragrances with cherry notes, the two that always came up were Tom Ford's Lost Cherry and Viktor and Rolf's Dancing Roses. Even though they both have a cherry note, they are quite different and therefore, both full bottle worthy IMO. Lost Cherry is warmer, deeper, sexier, more complex and a more unisex scent whereas Dancing Roses is a feminine leaning, bright, fruity floral. I love them both and highly recommend if, like me, you love cherries. Edit - the sparkling effervescence reminds me of Delina, it's not the same but there are distinct similarities to my nose.

This is nice. I can see it being unisex. At first I thought it would be a great on a man. For some reason I smell sweet tobacco and leather in the beginning giving it those masculine fragrance vibes. Perhaps it is saffron/liquor combination? This is a deep perfume. Not dark, just deep. Not sure it is great for daytime but at night it is simply delicious. Yes it gives Lost Cherry and Delina vibes - like a mix of both. Dry down can be reminiscent of Delina and the opening is a bit like Lost Cherry. But it is really its own perfume. And I still want to get Lost Cherry. I would say it is good to have in your collection if you like either of those fragrances. I am personally not a fan of Delina - I feel it is overpriced and overhyped and it doesn't have that sweet boozy element this perfume possesses. Dancing Roses is simply gorgeous. It was a love at first sniff. I sniffed it yesterday and I got it today at my local Sephora. They had a travel sized flacon only. Last one and I bought it immediately!

Nothing compares to this scent. Cherries have one of the most beautiful, unique, and complex scent/flavour profiles in my opinion. There's a splash of fresh, sour juiciness, but it's grounded by a warm, spicy, boozy base. I don't detect a lot of rose in the perfume, but the other notes more than make up for that. It's such an indescribably beautiful scent. If it were a colour, I feel like it would be a rich, vibrant, velvet red. I love the balance of heat and freshness in this scent--somehow the contrast works. When I first sniffed it in the store, I couldn't get my mind off of it and was so happy to be finally gifted a bottle! It's worth noting my boyfriend loves this and can't keep his hands off me whenever I wear it.

For the most part I get obsessed with a perfume/scent and wear it every day for a few weeks or a month, until I get burned out and give it away. Dancing Roses and very few other ones (all discontinued in my case) are the exception. I will keep & wear it until I run out, then cry about it. To my nose it is much closer to Chloe EDP than Delina. It's as bright and effervescent like a bottle of fruity bubbly desert wine. I also heard it be compared to Initio's Atomic Rose. I much prefer Dancing Roses to Atomic Rose. My mom is sensitive to the boozy note in it, but she loves it on me. When I spend time with her she sometimes asks me to wear "that one she loves" and I'm happy to comply :)

If anyone selling or re-selling the authentic Dancing Roses PLEASE MESSAGE. This is probably the best, most sophisticated, upscale sweet perfume I have every smelled, I am heartbroken they do not produce it anymore. This is such a multidimensional scent, it dries out in something magical, sweet, but not too sweet, like an exclusive glass of champagne. It smells like an expensive cocktail party on the cruise. Absolutely love the pitch of litchi and the cherry is not too strong. The price tag was high I recall. Unfortunately, did not get to try other scents from that family as it went out of production too quickly. Maybe we should sign a petition to bring it back :)

Sephora gave me a sample of this perfume and I tested it out. I like it! It projects well within 6 feet at first leaving a fruity trail then fades gradually on me to skin scent after 4 hours. Notes I notice on my skin are rose, litchi, cherry but not too sweet, a tart pomegranate (not a listed note), and a rich base of something, not sandlewood maybe brandy. I don’t smell any pepper and I am unsure what saffron smells like. This is pleasant but could be cloying if oversprayed. It reminds me of a new doll scent without the plastic. I recommend testing this first to see how it performs on your skin. I bought a full size bottle and will enjoy wearing this in winter.

The clean/fresh floral hit of rose plus the litchi freshness offers a watery/fruity opening. There is a bit of sour cherry that bridges the base notes which is feels a bit boozy and almond-like. Almost like amaretto. To me it is very reminiscent of Angel Nova, which also pairs rose with litchi. Dancing Roses goes from watery & fresh to tart and fruity, with minimal yet satisfying brandy/almond creaminess at the base. It is pretty, and I think the experience is very close to the listed notes if that helps to inform your imagination. This is from a sample set of the Magic line I purchased at Nordstrom Rack.

Oh, my God. I haven’t swooned for a fragrance in such a long time. I ordered this as a sample in my recent V&R order, and I’m so sad I didn’t discover it when it was still on the market! The opening has a gorgeous juicy cherry note, but not in the way you’re thinking of - it almost has a mild almond vibe. The dry down, though, is where the magic lies. At this point, this perfume smells like Lancôme’s Absolue Precious Oil! I used this oil for years because the scent was absolutely intoxicating, and now I’m so glad it exists in a fragrance! If you’re familiar with the oil and love the smell, seek this out!

I smelled this in Sephora last year when it came out and I remember thinking omg I really like it ! Never ended up getting it and then regretted it because I could not find it on Sephora site. Was in Sephora the other day and I saw it there, and I snatched it without even retrying it again lol I LOVE this scent. The cherry brandy note is what gets me, Its amazing and somehow it compliments rose perfectly. I love everything about this scent. Its heady but fresh and tangy. thats the best I can describe it. But it smells chic and expensive at the same time. IMO its the best scent from this collection

This perfume !!! This is what started my fragrance collection in April 2019. I saw this at Sephora and saw it had the note of cherry 🍒. I was always into fragrance but never really thought of the accords / notes that were in my fragrances . They were either fresh , or soft 😬. The cherry intrigued me and when I sprayed this it was OVER! Delicious crisp tart boozy cherry scent with just the right amount of rose 🌹 . The scent cloud lingers for about 6-8 hours on me ! It Is extremely beautiful ! So glad to have this and will always be a special fragrance for me ! I have back ups !!

Absolutely love this. It is getting hard to find now unfortunately. Opens with a sparkling fresh cherry blast. First minute, it is a boozy cherry but very quickly loses the alcoholic note. The first hour it is an amazing cherry and litchi scent with faint rose. The projection on me is impressive but not overpowering. I find the cherry is completely gone around the 3-4 hour mark, then it's just a lovely powdery rose with a hint of musk. On paper this smelled completely different to me. It smelled like "bug spray" so don't judge the fragrance until you test it on yourself.

Reminds me of Tom Ford's LOST CHERRY, except Dancing Roses lasts and blasts and holds its opening notes for much longer. Dancing Roses has LONGEVITY! This scent is edible and makes me want to bite my arm. There is no smoke or incense. This is a boozy high-end fancy cocktail cherry (not a plastic, artificial, cocktail cherry). More like the cherries you get from Williams-Sonoma, dark and inky, imported from Italy. Dark red for the cherry, not the rose. Oh, how I love this scent. And, at 3:30pm after a day of running around, I still get compliments. Obsessed.

Boozy cherries, pink pepper, litchi and rose. Sweet but not in a gourmand way... in a good way. Real cherry scent... you can almost taste them. Not like other artificial cherry perfumes. This is the real deal. Bubbly, uplifting and joyous scent. Every time I wear it it puts a smile on my face. Its not the heaviest of scents, but the quality is above average. Silage and longevity is about average. Delicious and refreshing in every way.

WHY DISCONTINUED??? This is the only cherry based fragrance that doesn't become medicinal on my skin!!!!! It has a similar sparkling juicy quality that Delina has! No, they are not dupes, but this could be a cherry Delina flanker haha. To me, it smells like cherry liqueur with lychee juice and some rose essence. I love the sour cherry note, I think it compliments the lychee so well! I think this is a perfect party perfume!

I fell in love with Dancing Roses the moment I smelled it. Every time I sniff it, it takes me to this elfish magical forest covered in violet mist. It's very long-last on me, I can smell it for many hours after applications. I smelled Delina yesterday: they are very close to my nose -- the same tard slightly boozy rose, except Delina is much more multidimensional while Dancing Roses is rather linear.

I really like the combination of rose and cherry here. Fun and bright, without being too overbearing and sweet. The cherry reminds me more of Lost Cherry, rather than a Jolly Rancher, which I prefer, and I enjoy rose-litchi compositions. This is one of the best scents from the Magic line. Some have been disappointing, but I regret that I discovered this one so long after it has been discontinued.

This is the prettiest perfume I have ever smelled. I am so sad that it's discontinued :( It reminds me of a sparkling cherry lemonade, not too sweet, just perfectly balanced. On the dry down the rose becomes more prominent. The saddest thing is that this perfume doesn't have dupes.. Prada Candy Gloss has a similar sour cherry note, but it's too powdery, this one is just perfect

How me and my friends explain it....its a total nut. its such a unique and intense sweetness that cant be found in many perfumes, but the spices like saffron and cinnamon that is in it gives it a more mature touch. its super addictive for perfume lovers who are addicted to sweet and fruity perfumes. and it stays on for quite a while.10/10

Tested a sample. The opening top note was a fresh sharp cherry (delightful) followed immediately by classic rose. The cherry faded down and blended into a fruity, rosy, slightly spicy accord that lasted about 6 hours. This is the perfect spring scent. I received many compliments and now want a full bottle!

The fact that this perfume has still not been duped or brought back will be the death of me. I have never found anything that compares even remotely, despite my best efforts. I have a single spray left in my bottle and I swear at this point I’m saving it for my wedding day.

I absolutely LOVE this fragrance. The blend of rose, cherry and lychee is simply divine. Biggest mistake I made was not purchasing this because now it is not available anywhere. Sadly, I suspect this might be discontinued. : (

What all fruity-florals should aspire to! Just gorgeous. Like a cherry-flavored Italian soda. This is both sweet and refreshing. The rose adds just enough floral weight to keep this from being candy-like. I'm obsessed.

My most complimented perfume ever ,, maybe it’s Sillage is enormous on my skin although its not my absolute favorite but i still wear it every once in awhile :)

Loved loved this, I still have some left and I'm saving it. Love the cherry opening with a lovely litchi following. Dry down is really nice powdery rose. <3

Dancing Roses marks my first try of the Viktor & Rolf Magic Collection. I’m not familiar with the collection and I’ve not tried any other entries in it but saw this being decanted in a sales group and it seemed appealing, so I decided to buy a decant. Its mix of rose and cherry liqueur is provocative and bright, sweet and slightly boozy. It opens loudly and remains pretty loud, without much evolution into something subtler. It’s generally a good balance between having both some bite and reasonable wearability. Other supporting notes include pink pepper, bergamot, lychee, saffron, tonka, musk, and amber, though for me, it’s almost entirely about the rose and cherry liqueur. For me, it feels a little more cold-weather-appropriate, given its strength, decent density, and slight bite. Something airier would feel better in the warm weather, but I wouldn’t be inclined to wear Dancing Roses in the heat. It’s not Priced at $145 for 75ml, it’s rather reasonable at under $2 per ml, along the lines of Imaginary Authors at $95 for 50ml, usually my standard-bearer for reasonably-priced great niche offerings. It’s not immediately on my list of one that I love enough to go out and buy, but I quite like it and it’s a promisingly different rose offering from what I’ve seen more of recently. It just feels a little incomplete, lacking something to round out the tartness of the cherry, perhaps. Tom Ford Lost Cherry has balsam, almond, and tonka to create a rounded effect and it just seems that Dancing Roses needs something more. Still, I’d recommend checking it out if you get a chance, as it’s quite neat. 7 out of 10

This is my all time favorite fragrance. It was love at first smell. When I realized it was discontinued, it set me off on a mission to find a new fragrance, and so far I I’ve found others that I like enough to purchase, but nothing that I had to have the moment I smelled it. The opening reminds me of boozy cherry lifesavers. It’s so juicy and vibrant. I love pink pepper in an opening but I actually don’t notice it here. The dry down on me smells like jammy rose with traces of the cherry scent. People compare this to Delina but Delina has a different vibe to me. This is bright and fun while Delina is sultry. There are a couple of things that this is compared to, and I’ve tested them all. If you don’t mind patchouli, TF Lost Cherry is your best bet, but the cherry doesn’t linger. Prada Candy Gloss is very young but the sour cherry sticks around. You could add it to something like Kilian Angel’s Share or Ambre Narguile to add that boozy note. If you search the forums for Dancing Roses, I listed everything I sampled to find something remotely similar. To my nose, Devious by Ilk is the closest to a dupe of the boozy sour cherry note (but without the rose and lychee). Bright sour cherry that sticks around and fades into a spiced amber woody base. The main difference to me is that there’s more almond in Devious, and the cardamom in the dry down makes it more unisex than Dancing Roses. I think it also makes it more evening appropriate. It’s not exactly the same, but it’s more similar than anything else IMO.

Received a sample from Saks and Dancing Roses smells like sweeter version of Flowerbomb. The fragrance is pleasant but this is not a niche or exclusive line caliber scent. If you mixed Armani Si, Flowerbomb and La Belle Est Vie, you would get Dancing Roses. I am not bashing this scent. The scent is a sweet, boozy rose but it is a generic fruity floral that has been done so often that it has become a cliche. The sillage and projection are moderate meaning someone standing 2 to 3 feet away from you will smell your perfume. This is an unoffensive fragrance that is work appropriate. Since I have dry skin, the longevity is about 2 hours on my skin. If you have normal to oily skin then the longevity will be longer. I say buy Dancing Roses because everyone needs a "basic bitch" in their fragrance wardrobe.

Once sprayed, Dancing Roses leaves a nice layer of oil on my skin which is always a good sign. I can almost say this is what I wanted Candy Gloss to be, and that's partially true. But instead of powdery heliotrope we get spice and booze. I can be sensitive to harsh liquor notes in perfume and this isn't harsh or too boozey. The fruit and spice give it a mulled wine effect, lovely for winter. Dancing Roses isn't an obvious rose fragrance on me, though rose is present and seems to marry all the notes together. It stays pretty close to the skin but lasts a long time. I can smell the quality in this and it's as niche as anything else that claims to be these days. Loving.

Hmm, this is an interesting one! When I first sprayed it on a clean cotton pad (the way I initially test all fragrances), there was really nothing there smell-wise and I was confused. Had my sample been watered down to nothingness? Within a minute, I smelled a whisper of a classic red rose and then suddenly, a blast of delicious cherries bobbing atop a freshly poured brandy and I was enchanted! This is well off the beaten path of Flowerbomb (thankfully) and I think a full bottle might be in the future for me if it continues developing on my skin as it has on the cotton pad (red roses followed up by edible cherries and brandy with some spiciness from the saffron).

I got a travel sized of this from Sephora and was anxious and excited to try it. I used two sprays on one wrist. I was also moving around a lot so I was fairly warm. Right away I could smell a delicious cherry cordial rose but my skin ate it up or something because within an hour I could barely smell it and an hour an a half later my husband smelled an herbal smell but no rose. I could only get a small whiff of cherry if I stuck my wrist half-way up my nose. It was beautiful while it lasted, but it didn't last long enough. I am guessing my husband picked up on the pepper and saffron. Neither of us picked up litchi but then, I've never smelled litchi.

I am impressed with this one! I was on the hunt for a cherry perfume and didn't want to spend the money on TF Lost Cherry (which I love!), so blind bought based on the notes and the reviews here. I would say this one is in the same circle as Lost Cherry but not a dupe as this is also full of rose. This one is lovely, it's strong but not a heavy dense perfume by any means. It opens up with a blast of cherries and then it settles into a rose & lychee scent. Happy to have in my collection.

I can smell saffron and brandy in the begging very intensely and as it dries the Cherry becomes very dominant along with litchi. The rose is there too, it’s giving me a little bit of Delina vibe. And also givenchy rose andante But fresher because of litchi and cherry. It’s different from the other rose fragrances I smelled but yet has similarities to others. Very nice longevity I think. I like the dry down a lot.

211 I liked this but it was weak and fleeting. I overpaid for a 9-ml bottle last year and see that this year there are more sellers of this around for much less. Today I used up the entire 6-ml I had left. Poof went my money! I hoped for a rosy litchi cherry but it is a lovely delicate watery fruity cherry reminiscent of Louve by Serge Lutens. 7/10-wish it was stronger! Would not repurchase.

Wow the opening was pure Brandy to me, and the dry down was pure rose and I don't hate the smell of roses but I guess I am more into a gourmand scent fase, nothing outstanding, actually it reminded me when I was 15 and I used to wear Pleasures by Estée Lauder, poor sillage on me, but I could smell it until the next morning, a very close to skin scent.

Very youthful, cheerful, and fruity; surprisingly good despite some may think this is not "niche" enough—The opening litchi reminds me of Delina (Parfum de Marley) while the drydown reminds me of the Amaretto accord from Blossom Love (Amouage), all intermingled with your typical commercial pink juice.

This is not a rose fragrance! It's a fragrance with a cherry opening (a very good realistic black sweet cherry compote), over a base of muted Flowerbomb, with the liquor showing up somewhere in the middle, but not overstaying its welcome. At least that's how it registers to me.

It smells like a cherry soaked in rum or brandy—fresh, boozy, and sweet. The sour and citric cherry with the boozy notes is pleasant. I really like the musky scent of the bottom(Cashmeran, I believe). It works like a concrete floor to support cherry and rum's longevity.

So yummy. Bought it ages ago and then regretted it. Came back to it 1-2 years later and now I love it, which is odd as usually Brady notes turn me off from a perfume. It’s especially lovely layered in the fall with shalimar.

Opens with cherry Kool-aid, then grows up and drinks kirsch. Roses bloom after a few minutes, blowsy hybrid teas with a pinch of spice. Projects long and loud, and lasts all day on the skin and through the evening on silk. Cleaner and younger than Tom Ford's Lost Cherry, and I bet it's fantastic in the winter.

I was so excited to get my sample of this, because the name is so whimsical and pretty. I sprayed it, and the very first thought it my head was "bug spray." So I pulled my sleeve down and waited 10 minutes. Go back for a sniff... literally deet. Rosey deet, maybe. Super disappointing. On the bright side, I can give it to my friend who goes camping a lot.

Opens rough, like a dollar store candle, but it gets better on the dry down and settles into a very sweet rose and fruity candy scent. I don't like sweet personally, but I can see how someone would like it once it dries. Significant sillage. One pump dabbed between two wrists and I've got a six foot scent bubble.

Sugary and strong, like cherry-flavored cough drops. Or those heart-shaped Valentine's suckers. The sharp top notes fade, but I still wouldn't describe this as a rose fragrance. It smells like something for tweens with a hint of added musk.

nothing breathtaking or new, rose boosted by lots of sweetness, does seem to be one of the best among this overpriced line.

Am I smelling a different perfume? No cherry for me. Just really screechy and sour something. Not a fan.

I had this (fortunately in the travel bottle) because I wanted a rose and cherry frag. At first spray it is lovely, but quickly becomes discordant on me. The rose fades and instead of any cherry I get a sour synthetic note that burns my nose...I think this is the cherry trying to come in and my skin isn't warm enough to develop it. Sent to the bestie and she loves it.
