Dirty Trick

I’m in the minority that absolutely loves this perfume. It is so unique and cozy at the same time. When it first opens up I feel as if I were opening a large, old, leather bound book and a bottle of ink inside of an old Victorian library. And I don’t mean it smells old or musty, that’s just what it reminds me of, in the best possible way. There is a lot of ink at the top. Then, it quickly settles down into something warm and dusty before landing, feather-soft, in a blanket of suede or cashmere. It’s so warm and inviting. I realize this review is much more poetic than it is practical, but that’s how I see it. I wish sillage and longevity were better, but they’re not terrible either. All in all, I’m in love.

Creamy and semi-sweet iris with a smooth suede undertone. The iris here is less soapy than Prada's iris - it's more decadent, powdery, even dessert-like. Unisex, leaning slightly feminine. Blended beautifully. Really delicious and addicting scent. V&R failed at marketing this line because there are some real winners here - Invisible Oud is also fantastic.

This is a love, way back when they first came out I bought the travel spray set but back in those days I couldn't justify paying the full price for this. I'm happy I was able to get a tester bottle on Fragbuy.

I smell strong oud in this. It's ok I guess, not as good as I thought itd be. There is something almost sickly sweet. Also. The color of the juice is not as pictured here. It sprays on black like ink. It disappears, but it definitely looks dark sitting in the bottle

Apologies for the repost. This review did not appear with my information (likely because I had just signed up) so I am reposting to attach it to my user information. I was very excited to try this, as I love Flowerbomb and the notes listed seemed quite unique (ink). The scent first reminded me of a dusty old leatherbound tome in some forgotten niche of a seldom-used private library. I loved the fragrance as it settled comfortably on my skin. It did not seem too masculine and curled around me as if I'd snuggled into a comfy armchair. The drydown, however, was jarring. The lovely library was gone within an hour, leaving a sickly sweet smell that did not mesh with the remaining leathery accord. Thankfully it sat very close to the skin by this point, as it just didn't work well on me. I feel the bottle is way too expensive to have such poor longevity.

I can't say exactly what ink smells like but there's something in here that is heady and artificial. I've smelled fountain pen ink and acrylic paint but this smells like something different. At the opening the iris came on nicely. I'm a sucker for iris. In the dry down that "ink" smell takes over. Suede is there and some soft cedar in the background. Dirty Trick is unisex leaning masculine. It's a little weird; maybe not the best for work and I think some will find it sexy. Definitely a cooler weather scent. I was really excited for this one. I'm a huge fan of the Dior Homme line and Le Labo's Iris 39. Sadly that "ink" note gives me a headache. It's not cheap but performs well. I got eight plus hours of nice projection and sillage. Interesting perfume but try before you buy.

The dirty trick here is the disappearing act it performs on my skin. Had to do a few extra spritzes to even know what it smells like. I wish this had more iris and less cedar/suede/ink, but that's my personal preference. I think this is meant to be more unisex.

Horrible composition, how did this kind of thing come to market? 4 chemical notes of abysmal poverty to give in the end the fragrant rendering of a cucumber in a sweet and sour sauce. Viktor&Rolf, the scam magicians

Definitely a strong male undertone for this one, it isn't feminine at all, it is a strong Iris and a bold leather combo, so watch out..it isn't a delicate scent, this is full bloom opulence..almost an oud undertone, definitely rich, reminds me of encre noire ..makes me think also of the inside of an old suitcase, might not be good !! This isn't my type st all, i much prefer feminine pretty scents.. Dirty trick makes a loud statement here, it won't work for everybody.. It is very woodsy, serious, and masculine. My least favorite of the Magic, but could be the smell from an old magician ' S trunk, easily !! The Magic of this one is that it makes you think of places, like an old stage in an old dusty theatre, definitely unique, but not an easy one to wear.

At first spray I thought "oh, Dior Homme" but then it went in a totally different direction. While Dior is sweet and baby powdery, this is drier and runs more bitter. This is subdued, soft and polished, I can see an executive in a suit wear this. Quiet but makes a statement without trying too hard. The suede and iris is dry and almost papery, while the cedar I initially mistook for tonka or vanilla. The ink is way in the back, but reminds me how freshly dry cleaned clothes sometimes smell. Not too chemical, but this has a slightly brisk bite. Overall the effect is light and runs more masculine. This is a truly unique scent and very easy to wear. One of the better offerings from the V&R Magic line.

Similar to Skin on Skin. A light powdery skin smell. I get light citrus at first, inky paper, and powder/iris/suede. Nothing animalic or skanky. So far projection and potency are disappointing. But I do like it and will see if it grows on me. It does seem to radiate off skin with warmth/body heat. Powdery soft skin. Weird as a perfume but not unique. Doesn't scream perfume at all, in fact nothing is screaming. It also feels a bit clean and sweet/creamy. I bought an unboxed bottle for a decent price. Like Skin on Skin-- not worth the high retail.

My fiancé and I really love this fragrance (for ourselves!) meaning, can be worn by either male or female. Starts off with a lot of suede and an "old study" type of smell, but as it dries down I get a really warm brown-sugar-vanilla type of smell. This is easy to wear but the quality and uniqueness are apparent. The kind gentleman at saks was nice bough to give me a sample and if I love it after a few wears it may be FB worthy.

This lives up to its name. Allow me to explain. It smells dirty and I feel tricked because I expected more from Viktor & Rolf. Cue Tyra Banks "We were rooting for you!!!" This is tagged as unisex but it leans more on the masculine side in my opinion. Reminds me of a stale Guess Suede. I guess give this a try if you're very open minded lol.

I got this as a sample to try. This scent is strange to me. Its powderyness reminds me a bit of Lataffa Poudree (which I love) but there is something dirty about it, almost like, toilet water... at least at first spray. Dry down smells better but I don’t think this is for me.

i love this so much, its different and unique.. it does smell like lune feline to me and i reckon there has to be vanilla in this, its sexy, slightly dirty, musky, irisy butter gorgeousness! its now £45 for 75ml in frasers.. love it

The first moment of spary is like... meh... It smells very weird animalic scents. The dry down is quite good old-fashion style Spicy-Amber(Vanilla)-Iris scent.
