Spicebomb

I registered to this site specifically to write a review and share my appreciation for this incredible fragrance. The first time I tried Spicebomb was at The Bay (one of the big department stores here in Canada) during the summer while trying some fragrances, and I remembered thinking "Oooh! This smells nice!". I read plenty of positive reviews online, and I was always curious to try it. Boy, this did not disappoint. The spice, the cinnamon, the hint of tobacco while not being heavy nor overwhelming. I can see why this was highly praised and it's definitely justified. I didn't buy it at the time since it was during the height of summer and I wanted to wait for a sale at discounters before winter. I tried its flanker, Spicebomb Extreme, a couple of times and though it did smell great, I felt it was a bit sweet compared to the original. I was looking for something spicier and warm for the coming winter months. I finally pulled the trigger on Spicebomb off Perfumeonline.ca and it arrived just last night. I immediately tried it on, with just one spray on my left wrist. It smelled simply divine. Just how I remembered it during the summer. The amazing scent of Spicebomb is incredible enough, but where it also shines is in its beastly longevity. I put this on at night around 9:30pm, and it was still projecting when I went to bed around 1am. The following morning, while I was at work at the office, I could still clearly smell it off my skin around 11am. In the late afternoon at 3:40pm, I caught a GOOD whiff of it off my skin which was a pleasant surprise. Around 5pm, it was a faint smell, and by around 6pm, it was there but ever more faint, but I would consider that pretty much the end, or "dissipated" by that point. So, on my skin, this easily lasted not only the whole night, but pretty much a whole working day. That's a whole 17 to 19 hours of longevity on my skin! And that's with just ONE spray on my left wrist. I know most if not all fragrance influencers swear by Spicebomb Extreme, but for me, I much prefer the original Spicebomb. This will be my go to winter scent, but you this can definitely be worn during the fall, and maybe during a cool spring night. This is now my new favorite fragrance in my modest collection of Dylan Blue, OG Polo (green), L'Eau Bleue D'Issey, OG L'Eau D'Issey pour Homme, Coach for Men and Hugo Extreme. I give this a full 10/10 Heaven in a bottle and a master class of longevity.

I know I'm a little late to the game on this one, but I'm only beginning my learning journey, so I'll review this for the record. On first application: Warm vanillic balsamic notes, and for an instant I picked up a fleeting note of ripe capsicum, but maybe I would not have noticed that unless I had first seen the notes. Still, it opens for me as a vague, warm, soapy scent that is somewhat plain but quite pleasing. It's not polarizing at all for a fragrance with the term "bomb" in the title. It's an enveloping balsam with warm spices behind it. I spend a lot of time with peppers because I grow many varieties including paprika - and I dry them and process them into sauces. I also literally just now fetched a few pink peppercorns and crushed them in my mortar and pestle. I love this top note on my skin, and I definitely get it, in scads, on clothing. As far as top notes of grapefruit , they're the rind, not the fruit. As far as the citruses, I'm getting bergamot, too. I do get a tobacco and vetiver note, but at an hour and a half or so, they're still far in the background - supporting notes. There's a mid note that is full, round, and rosy, not in the sense of rose itself, but more red, fruity. I wonder if this is the unfolding of pink peppercorn with the heart and base notes? Pink pepper itself has a peppery scent, not that different than black pepper, though just the slightest bit sweet, fruity, and camphoraceous, with a taste of candy sweetness in a papery rose-colored envelope that enfolds the resiny, peppery core. Several hours in and I'm finally getting a soft leather note among more now obvious warm spices, mild cherry tobacco impression and a hint of vetiver. That fruity note is indeed closer to cherry pipe tobacco than any other note. I love this note and want to snuggle up with it all day (which, fortunately, is possible!) Compositionally, Spicebomb is super well integrated, with no note dominating and is exceedingly pleasant. It's like being wrapped in a warm blanket on a worn leather couch while someone in the room smokes a pipe full of cherry tobacco and someone in the kitchen is baking a spice cake. Thumbs up on this as a worthy public-friendly daily reach for the cooler seasons.

To me this is a more every day, wearable version of spicebomb extreme. I'm starting off swinging with that as everyone seems to know the "extreme" version more. Why I think the original is more wearable is that you can even sniff this right up close and not get blasted with any cumin (caraway seeds) , it makes sense in the air, which that's what matters the most but up close if I tried this in the store I would have immediately checked out something else without a second thought as usually enough cumin can ruin even the best meal and cumin out of a spice jar smells awful. The original spicebomb is a different kind of sweet, not taking the easy route going with vanilla, it's got a spicy warmth and a smooth undertone, it's much easier to wear than extreme. The really far dry down, as in 6+ hours later, this has an almost suntan lotion like smell to it, that's my only complaint. The extreme version is - spicier, louder, the use of rum and vanilla are incredible. Think of it as an actual "For him" version of Paco Rabanne 1 Million (edt). You'll get 12+ hours out of it easily. Personally I find it harder to wear. Owning both the original and extreme could be redundant. If I tried to keep my fragrance collection low, under 10 fragrances low. I would want more contrast, I'd try night vision EDP, any form of infrared or dark leather if I was in a shop. On the other hand, this isn't D&G The One, Vs The One EDP or Terre D'Hermes EDT vs Pure Parfum with EXTREMELY subtle differences. It's almost like do I want the cumin, rum and vanilla in my spicebomb today or do I want a sweet, pink pepper and smooth leather spicebomb. If I had to pick one. The original, I'd double my sprays to compete with it's slightly more expensive big brother. What does this remind me of.in my collection. Issey Miyake Nuit D'Issey Parfum due to the leather, pink pepper and grapefruit. However Nuit D'Issey Parfum isn't a "spicy warm" fragrance, it's got this spicy coolness to it. The leather is way stronger in it and there's no vanilla in it. However, spicebomb edt is a far superior fragrance and my least favorite of the three in that series I own.

This is a very versatile and delicious-smelling fragrance that I'm absolutely in love with and I will proudly have this as my signature fragrance. You can break into my house, beat my ass, steal my cash, watch, computer, but do NOT take my Spicebomb EDT. You can have everything else. To me, Spicebomb EDT is an absolute 10. My fragrance collecting phase is very early in the making and I am very open minded, but among the 9 or 10 other fragrances in my drawer, and the millions of different fragrances I get whiffs of in establishments I frequent, this is the best men's perfume I have smelled. When I'm working on my computer, I take it out of my drawer and put it on my desk just so I can sniff the atomizer. My city is built on a temperate rainforest and it's quite cold and rainy year round except for the summertime, making this a very appropriate fragrance for almost each day, 8-9 months a year. I can wear this at the gym, at work, on dates, drinks with my friends, or a run to the drug mart. This fragrance is totally inoffensive, however I can see how some other reviews would make sense for people that didn't like it, especially considering the weather in which they've tried this perfume. Instant sweet notes of cinnamon, pepper, and a little citrus, with sweet tobacco and a hint of leather on the drydown. Projection extends about half a metre for approximately the first hour. After six hours all I can smell is leather. This fragrance reminds me of each Christmas day with my family. We eat cinnamon buns with bacon and orange juice (usually we have healthy balanced meals) and the house has an unmistakable Christmas day scent during those mornings. So this perfume smells like Christmas to me. I was lucky enough to secure a 3oz tester bottle for just under $80 CAD, so for this price it is very well worth the money. As this was a blind purchase I wouldn't have bought it if discounters didn't exist. For $150-180 CAD, it's expensive. TLDR: Effective and appropriate in cold climate, good for every occasion, smells like Christmas morning. Find a discounter.

I like this. It is warm and cozy. It is unisex, in my opinion. I would feel very comfortable wearing this, and I'm a woman. This would be wonderful in autumn or winter, it reacts beautifully with cold weather. It's sweet, spicy – even the tobacco and leather give it a pleasing sweet and spicy note. Wearing Spicebomb is like putting on your favorite fuzzy oversized sweater, the one that belonged to your grandfather and still smells like his pipe tobacco, pulling down a copy of a book that you love, and snuggling up in a big stuffed leather chair that your grandfather used to smoke pipes in, to read with a mug of chai tea. I love the tobacco note in here! It really grounds the whole fragrance and adds the 'sweetness' that I think people are smelling, and the mysterious 'vanilla note' that everyone talks about – that's the tobacco!!! A man or woman could also take a brisk walk in autumn or winter, in a sharp, smart-looking coat and a long, luxurious scarf while smelling of Spicebomb. They would smell AMAZING and everyone who hugged them when they got to the pub would comment on their wonderful scent. This scent hitting the chilly air is a great thing. I'd heard so much hype about this one, I didn't know if Spicebomb could live up to it. But, as a woman, I love wearing this scent. It makes me feel cozy and happy. And if I smelled it on a man, it would be very appealing. Good for snuggling and cuddling. Not a 'sexy' scent on a man, but an appealing one that would make women want to get closer to you and cuddle up with you. This is mild and soft. I don't get a lot of sillage here. This stays close to my skin and you wouldn't smell it on me unless you got into hug-range. I don't get any citrus here, even though the profile and some reviews claim they are in the top notes. I'm definitely buying a full bottle of this.
