Dear Lord

Dry bitter greens and paper, balanced and refined. Totally smells like a cucumber gin and tonic! A great signature scent with a lovely sillage that’s not too strong. Dear Lord and Morning Chess are the best masculine Vilhelm’s in my opinion!

I love the vanilla palo santo drydown it’s super fresh combined with that papyrus. It does smell like Santal 33 but I like this one more because of that light vanilla touch and the palo Santo adds a robust woody trail that’s very nice.

A seamless hybrid of bergamot, sandalwood, and vanilla. Crisp, clean, cosy. The term “business casual” distilled into a fragrance. Wondered why I liked Dear Lord so much and then I noticed the 100 cc bottle of Santal 33 watching me pointedly from atop my dresser. Guilty as charged. Dear Lord is not a clone, but close enough to be a sibling. Shares the hefty 10h+ longevity and that distinctive faux woods heart, but softer toned and dwindles into a lovely greenish vanilla if left to sit a day in fabric. We all have our vices. For some it’s the candy-caramel gourmands, for others it's atomic ambroxans. For me it’s particle board santal. (Fake wood apologists unite!). Again, if I didn’t have that big bottle of Santy 33 glaring at me, there’d be a flask of Dear Lord on my shelf. Mental Snapshot: If Santal 33 smells like a model home in the sugar cookie suburbs, Dear Lord is the model unit in a trendy 5-over-1 apartment complex. It’s all waterfall quartz, ceiling-to-floor glass, and tasteful shades of grey. The only sign of the wilds is a wall of well-groomed monsteras in the lobby. There’s a sexy reformer pilates studio and an $8-a-cup drip coffee “lab” on the ground floor. Even if you call it soulless, you wish you could live there. tl;dr: model loft 🏙️ 🏙️

Initial impression: really good! This unisex perfume offers a clean, fresh, green scent that isn't overpowering. The initial citrus burst is nicely balanced by a subtle sandalwood undertone. I'm completely smitten after trying it! The scent features a sweet-woody and creamy-fresh opening with a prominent dose of sandalwood, which I love. The notes seem simple, but the result is a very solid and wearable fragrance.

This is, in simple terms, a close interpretation of Santal 33! If you like one the other will definitely appeal to you.

Mostly papyrus and palo santo in the opening, on me. This is a very aromatic woody scent that is masculine leaning unisex. There is a note that is almost like plantain. Dear Lord is very planty and mature. I anticipated more church and incense. This is instead feels more like a desert shaman. Wise and earthy. Sadly, it does turn to pickles and is like the worst qualities of Santal 33. Not for me but very unique!

enough with these Santal33 smell-alikes! The original is so boring and dull, we do bot need more of the same lazy stuff. 😑

Here it is: Dear Lord is one of those fragrances that strikes you immediately, but takes a moment to understand why. The opening is luminous without being loud — it catches your attention, but with discretion. Then it starts to really speak, and what it says is worth listening to. The heart has personality. The notes fit together well, without any of them overpowering the others. This isn't a fragrance that tries to impress at all costs — it prefers to convince, and it succeeds. The quality of the raw materials is noticeable from the very first moments, which is never something to take for granted. The base is warm, persistent, never tiring. It lasts on the skin without becoming overbearing, which is exactly what you ask of a fragrance at this level. The real strength is its character. Dear Lord knows what it wants to be. It has a contemporary soul with something classic underneath — like certain records that sound fresh but rest on solid foundations. It doesn't aim to please everyone, yet ends up doing so precisely because it refuses to compromise. A well-crafted fragrance, with a coherence that's genuinely rare.

Very nice scent. I had debated between getting this one or santal 33 - IMHO, if you have one, you dont need to get the other as the differences is mostly in the opening. Dry down smells identical to me, both in projection and lasting power. The opening on santal 33 is sharper compared to dear lord, DL has a warmer opening, slightly sweeter because of the vanilla; doesnt mean its feminine leaning - just that it has warmth, but unmistakably a masculine scent. Both are amazing scents with great lasting power and that papyrus note is the focus on both of them, only difference is santal 33 is drier; and DL is warmer. Ive gotten a lot of complements, its a safe buy - been wanting santal 33 for a long time but couldnt pull the trigger; tried this and compared the two, and preferred the added vanilla note better, its very subtle but present in the drydown.

Very similar to Santal 33 by Le Labo, and Bois de Balincourt by Maison Louis Marie. Very smooth, extremely sandalwood and palo santo forward, and quite peppery. Projection and lasting power are absolutely insane. People will smell you a mile away and you'll leave a strong scent trail everywhere you go. If price is a factor for you, Dear Lord is $200/50ml, Santal 33 is $240/50ml, and Bois de Balincourt is $100/50ml. All 3 have outstanding performance.

Idk why people compare it to Santal 33. It's not even close. It's dark and sandal with pickles aspect. Nothing interesting and catchy. Brand lose individuality trying to produce trend scents. All those chimilka and Ganymede stuff and now this. Idk just disappointing.
