Don't Tell Jasmine

THIS is Jasmine. Straight up, right out of the gate, full strength, full skank, perfection. Not muddled by a lot of notes and alterations as the day wears on (so does this scent, on me, it lasts!!!!) You start with Jasmine and you stay with jasmine all day long. This is not a stand alone scent for me, it's a topper for another more complex scent. I've mixed it with Very Good Girl, with Mango Skin, with Liz Taylor's Gardenia and with Flower Bomb. It can take a sweeter scent and make it indolent. I'm a huge fan and will always want this in my arsenal.

First spray and I was wowed. This to me smells pretty, decent, delicate, very fresh. Like a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers just picked in the garden, to give you an idea (but just jasmine). It's not the carnal, sexy jasmine, like in Tom Ford Jasmin Rouge to make an example. It's super realistic, and a bit in your face too, I don't find it "round" at all. But in the best way. Not so sweet, turns a bit bitter on the drydown, like when you leave your green jasmine tea in the mug for too long. Very very nice.

This is my first perfume from this house. I was shopping for something new and different, well I definitely found it! After testing so many perfumes that day, I decided that Don't Tell Jasmine was the winner so I bought it. The next day after a shower I put this perfume on and I wasn't blown away by it. I thought to myself 'damn it you did it again, thought you loved it but didn't test it properly'. Here's the thing, it's a very indolic jasmine..there is absolutely no sweetness here at all..not even a little bit. It's a straight up, hard composition but after wearing it a few more times I have started to appreciate it more. It's more of a serious perfume,like a straight up shot of whiskey. I'm a little obsessed with the 70's era and this perfume is what I imagine a rich socialite might have worn. Or maybe Andy Warhol's muse may have worn something like This! Either way because of its indolic feel it transports me into that era because of how strong it is. So while I don't love it, I do like it.

The lemon in here is very prominent to me, giving the sweet, round smell of the jasmine a sharpness and a tartness I found personally to be rather unpleasant. I'm yet to find out if this becomes refreshing in hot weather or, alternatively, if the jasmine opens up more. Either way, if you want straight up jasmine, this is not it, but you love citrussy florals, this may be up your ally. Longevity and sillage are, as usually with Vilhelm, fantastic. 16/24: trying my sample again on an impulse proved to be quite interesting: it's still winter, but I don't get any citrus at all - now it's quite an indolic, if synthetic jasmine that is reminiscent of Lush's Lust. Still not a great love, but much better.

This is a straight up jasmine perfume with no nuance or complexity behind it. It's really intense and in your face. You will smell as though you're a walking flower garden. I will probably use up the sample I have to layer with other white floral fragrances, wouldn't wear it by itself. If you're a big jasmine fan, you'll love it. Not indolic at all imo.

Very strict, intense and indolic jasmine with green stems. For lovers of animalic jasmine. A little too strenuous for me. I would give a 6.5.

This smells so good! Such a perfect, bullseye jasmine. Ugh, love it!

Fortunately, I do not smell heavy indoles at all, but neither do I smell a quality jasmine. It smells no different to me than any screechy synthetic jasmine that's used in cheap perfumes. Come on Vilhelm, you can do better than this. Really disappointed. Testing from a manufacturer's sample.

I’m sorry but this is discussing, headachy and super sharp and strong. I can smell leather which is not listed here. That’s not your soft floral bridal Jasmine, this one is mean evil Jasmine. Hard pass, I need to go scrub it off my hand cause I feel nauseous already.

Not the kind of jasmine that I know or enjoy. Quite disappointed. Was thinking I can shift to another Jasmine fragrance as my current one(Jasmine de Charifa) changed its scent over time but I'll keep it for a while.

Pure, unadulterated, indolic af jasmine. But this iteration smells like a wealthy octogenarian w/ too much old school hair grease taming her blue-tinged chignon.

Whoa!! Heavy indoles — like bad breath. Not my type of jasmine.

I lived in California for a few years about 10 years ago. Each spring the jasmine would bloom and I would spend at least a minute a day with my head in a jasmine bush just smelling the flowers. I knew I needed a jasmine perfume but everything I tried was too sticky sweet and ended up smelling like bubblegum. To the point that if I smelled Jasmine in a perfume I wouldn't buy it. This is the jasmine perfume I have been looking for for 10 years. There is no sweetness. It is pure natural jasmine scent. It's dry and not overwhelming with a slight citrus edge which gives it a great dimension. Definitely worth a full bottle!
